Indian Crown in Leipzig

Over in Leipzig for the Liverpool match. We were staying in Groners Hostel around the corner, which is amazing also. 4 of us in for a meal. Poppadoms were gorgeous, with 3x lovely dips (mango, mint, and another), we all had curry and rice mains, with a great portion of naan. I tasted the lot and they were all divine. My butter chicken was savage! Beers, 0.0, half bottle of wine, 30e a head with tip. Great friendly service, on the ball with asks. If I'm ever in Leipzig again, It'll be top of my list for a visit. Nice restaurant. Staff very friendly. Poppadoms not great. Still water priced at 6.90 euros a bottle?!?. For Leipsig is expensive. Food average. Main meals pricey for what you receive, didn’t contain a lot of chicken.

So that was really tasty! At first I was worried whether the mango sauce with chicken was too sweet, but I was surprised at how tasty it was. We like the ambience downstairs a little more than the bright light upstairs. Staff very friendly, eaten ready super quickly and paid by card 💳 no problem. Gladly again at any time.

The positive first: very friendly staff, very attentive and above all concentrated. The waiter had no notepad or technical assistance when taking our order (6 people). When paying he knew the entire table from memory (impressive). The food was very tasty, not star cuisine but the price-performance ratio was definitely right. The portion size may seem small at first glance, but don't let that fool you. Now to the negative: unfortunately the cleanliness was not as you would expect in a restaurant. You can still ignore the fact that the tablecloth had one or two stains. But the women's toilet smelled terribly bad and there was no soap to wash your hands. Unfortunately, that wasn't so pleasant. But I assume that this was more the exception than the rule. I was there a few years ago and everything was fine. The fact that the Indian Crown has been in an exposed location for a few years shows that it can't be that bad.

Very good Indian restaurant - not cheap for dinner; But we thought everything was great and ate everything on the menu! Service was good!

This place was incredible, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted at the door with a friendly smile. I highly recommend starting with the samosa—it was perfectly crispy, and the tamarind chutney was delightful. We ordered four dishes in total, and each one was outstanding. The service from Mr. Pawan Singh was excellent, and Chef Manvendra Singh, who prepared the food, even came out to greet us. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine, this restaurant in Leipzig is a must-visit!

Indisch kennen wir leider besser . Ambiente nicht wirklich schön, Service sehr nett aber das war es auch an positivem . Vorspeise bestand rein aus frittiertem mix von Käse, Fisch und Gemüse . Der Hauptgang mit 22€ für eine paar kleine Stücke Lamm mit Currysoße und Reis ist ordentlich. Aufgrund dieser Erfahrung werden wir nicht wieder kommen.

We know Indian better! Very expensive for a bowl with some lamb and rice. Starter completely fried and just warmed up. Service was very nice but that doesn't change anything if you're not satisfied with the food in the end. In our opinion, price performance doesn't fit. Ambiance doesn't really exist.

The food is below average, and the service is extremely slow. It's overpriced without justification. While the ambience is nice, I definitely wouldn’t return for the food, as it doesn’t come close to authentic Indian cuisine.

The food was so delicious and the service was really great.The Chicken Biryani was so yummy and I ate the whole thing, even though it was quite heavy for one person. In dinner I ordered Paneer Masala and Roti was tender and went well with the sauce and vegetables.Drinks also offered with affordable cost as compare to other restaurants surrounding.They maintain resturant food is very high quality and hygiene. Restaurant Manager was very friendly and cooperative. Resturant located in Main City Centre beside IBIS hotel and Musem.Much appreciated them for service and tasty food provided Indians in Leipzig Germany. Finally I would like to recommend to visit and tast delicious food-:)

Unfortunately it's no longer worth it. The dishes are all very similar, the curries are all very similar and hardly vary. You can still tolerate the spicy foods well even as a European if you like spicy food. By the way, the Indian white wine is highly recommended, but at €31 it's not a price tip either.

We were in this restaurant for the second time with various friends and we all agreed. Service was very nice, food was ok. but not overwhelming. The selection is very large and diverse. Now the negative, the prices are far too high for the quantity. Prices for a normal dish 20-25 euros would be ok. if you were full, which is just enough for a child. A small bowl of rice and a small container of meat in sauce is really lean. You should have a large starter to fill you up and then you're already at 30 euros plus drinks 40 and that's just too much for a short dinner. So it's ok for once in a while, but not as a regular restaurant.

The customer service, the food, the enviroment, the hygiene everything fits in like a puzzle. This place is the definition of the art of food. You can feel the dedication and love of the chef while taking every bite. Gives a feeling of home. Also had a very nice conversation with one of the staff a very kind man Guru Preet, he and the whole staff made sure that we go through a respectfull and relaxing experience at the restaurant.

Most of the vegetables appeared frozen. Therefore not appropriate for the prices. Not recommended!

I've never had such a stomach ache

My second time in Leipzig, a return was worth it. Excellent food, maybe too much choice, how can I decide. If I'm back in Leipzig, I will return.

When we walked in we were just stared at silently until we asked if there were any seats available. Unfortunately, we were placed right next to the television that was playing football the whole time, which didn't make the atmosphere particularly pleasant. The “starter” made us a bit skeptical. The mango lassi was super tasty, but the mojito was rather disappointing. The chicken tikka with naan was quite boring, but the butter chicken with rice convinced us. Some employees were nice, but overall we didn't really feel comfortable. While my friend was still eating, a waiter wanted to clear everything away... Compared to other Indian restaurants, it is quite expensive here. Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience and would therefore not come back.

Situated in a quiet area next to the Fine Art Museum in central Leipzig, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The food was pretty good for Germany though the Chicken Tikka Masala was a little bland. Good garlic naan and mango lassi, generous with the fluffy basmati rice.

My goodness, I had a delicious and authentic Indian food in Leipzig. We had all vegetarian and every dish was giving a real Indian feeling. Finally, took Kulfi, which you cannot leave. If you want to try something different, you can try ayurvedic milk. Thanks to Preeth, I have not come such a wonderful person. You will love him.

the best food i had while visiting leipzig! really authentic taste with great service as well. They were kind enough to give us a lovely mango cream on the house :) they also understood we wanted spicy food and had our food on the perfect spice level. big shoutout to our server with a turban (didn’t get the name) and another older gentleman who also checked in on us! thank you for such a welcoming atmosphere

Mediocre food, way too much salt and very basic recipy prepared without passion. Head waiter behaving like a untrained bouncer, rude and an aggressive attitude. To be avoided in my opinion.

I have been eating Indian food often for 30 years and also traveled through India for 6 weeks. I usually eat palak paneer (spinach with Indian cheese). This has NEVER tasted like spicy spinach. Normally the spinach flavor is masked by garam masala. Now you can say: India is big and everyone makes their own mixture - of course, but as I said - I eat it very often. This dish was also not marked as spicy or very spicy on the menu. Anyone who orders a food that is labeled as not spicy because they don't like it or can't tolerate it is out of luck here. It was just plain with no variety of flavors whatsoever. Oddly enough, the starters also came along with the main courses. Huh????? Tomato soup was also just spicy. My husband's chicken was good quality and tender. But his food was also just spicy - otherwise flat in taste and his wasn't marked as spicy either. I'm really surprised at the very good reviews and above all: the restaurant hasn't been around for long and has over 1000 reviews? Well... you can get them in a variety of ways. It was cold in the restaurant. Despite good shoes and spicy food, my feet got cold. There are much better Indian restaurants in Leipzig - not in the center. As always, best wishes from Di & Ho

Excellently seasoned Indian food. Not overly piquant but fully & thoughtfully seasoned. Silky paneer. Great variety of vegetarian options & also meat. Prices are in line with the area. Service was gracious.

The service was ok, but unfortunately sloppy... After the meal we sat together for a while and none of the waiters came to our table again to ask if we wanted anything else... The appearance of the employees was appropriate, in my opinion , not about the location...All in all ok, but nothing special...

The food was really tasty and partially compensated for the ambience. Service rather inattentive and disinterested. What I found really bad was that no matter where you sit, there is a draft everywhere because all 3 doors are open so that you can serve outside. I was freezing all evening and it ruined everything for me. At most you could have sat upstairs, but you weren't allowed to. The staff didn't care much about it, although I commented on it several times, unfortunately.

The stories ordered were not authentic, the products were inferior, but the prices were outrageously high. But the service was good.

I had the pleasure of visiting this Indian restaurant in Leipzig for the first time and my overall experience was very positive. The service was not only friendly but also quick, which immediately left a good first impression. Although the prices seemed a bit high at first, it quickly became clear that the quality of the food was worth every penny. I was particularly impressed by the chicken fillet with spicy curry sauce. The sauce was zesty and excellently seasoned, resulting in an overall great taste experience. The chicken fillet itself was tender and juicy, just as it should be. A small point of criticism concerns the supplements. My chicken dish was served with rice, which went perfectly. However, the tandoori dishes my companions only served were naan bread. Neither the rice nor the naan bread was enough for them to share. Personally, I would prefer if both rice and naan bread were served with all main courses. This would further enhance the dining experience and provide greater versatility. Apart from this small suggestion for improvement, I was very satisfied with my visit. I was impressed by the taste and quality of the food and I'm already looking forward to my next short trip to Leipzig, where a visit to this restaurant will definitely be on my list again.

Update May 2024: Unfortunately, the quality of the food and especially the service has deteriorated significantly. We were brought the wrong food twice and there was no real excuse for it. In addition, the prices are very high for the quality offered. In particular, 5 euros for a 0.33l cola is hardly justified. Good Indian with a large selection. However, you should make sure to sit downstairs in the restaurant. On the upper floor the atmosphere is not very comfortable, rather sterile.

We were there with 5 adults and 2 children. The food was delicious but unfortunately they didn't have a children's menu. Unfortunately, the waiter didn't respond to my request and was rather annoyed by my request.

Staff friendly, food tastes good, but carelessly prepared, cabbage burnt. No main course under 20eur. Food came quickly, not enough naan bread for the main course. nothing special. But the drink prices are a disgrace...0.33 juice/soda/iced tea 5eur. Since the door is always open at the front and back...very drafty if you have to sit there.

The four of us wanted to spontaneously go to this restaurant on Sunday around 8:30 p.m. because we like to eat Indian food. The reception was listless and uninviting, as if it was already too late. The assigned table in the hallway was drafty and uninviting with a view of the counter and kitchen entrance. We wanted a more secluded table, but we weren't told no because the four of us had gotten up again. After taking a seat there, we hammered on stone and metal outside on the terrace area. Definitely not an atmosphere where you would want to start a nice dinner. When I asked whether it would take longer, the answer was yes, which is why we were assigned the first table. We felt uncomfortable and left the restaurant. Unfortunately it spoiled our taste once again. Since we didn't eat there, we can't say anything about the quality of the food. But for the higher price category I expect that there is more to it than just the food.

We were spontaneously looking for a restaurant on Friday evening. We had previously been to five restaurants in the city center and were turned away five times, sometimes even quite harshly. (We had three children with us, without children we would definitely have been given a table.) The staff at the India Crown were so welcoming that it almost made me uncomfortable, there was room for our strollers, nothing was a problem, everyone was very accommodating and nice, absolutely family friendly. The food was absolutely fantastic too! Thank you all so much for your wonderful hospitality.

There isn't much to go with the dishes, the portions are sometimes very small but the prices are just massively too high. In addition, the staff sometimes seems a bit overwhelmed. The restaurant was already full at 6 p.m. (during the week), but we still managed to get a seat. The food took some time to arrive, but it was worth it. All dishes were excellent, Vindaloo was very spicy but still edible, Palak Paneer was pleasantly spicy, the Mango Chicken was excellent (meat tender without a penetrating chicken taste, sauce not too sweet with the right binding). The ambience is rather simple; if you like Bollywood, you're better off somewhere else. Toilets were very clean. The only downside was the price: around 20 euros for a main course, 5 euros for a lemonade and over 6 euros for a large beer are already self-confident. But I would also expect that the mineral water would be poured for me and that I wouldn't have to use the sauce-smeared plates of pappadums for the main course.

Food is very good, staff very friendly. My daughter got a mango lassi for free. The atmosphere is also friendly, very clean, especially the toilets. Unfortunately there is very little space between the tables on the ground floor. The chairs a bit uncomfortable. Maybe create more space so you can leave the course without slalom running. Unfortunately, I knocked over the vase on the neighboring table because I was busy concentrating on the other table so that I didn't clear it as I walked past. In terms of space, a change should be considered. Otherwise everything was great.

Unfortunately, we were lured by the good reviews. It was really disappointing. We ordered 2x 0.4 Gingerale for 5 euros each, which was non-carbonated. When we asked, they couldn't tell us whether it should actually contain carbon dioxide. Unfortunately it tasted really stale. The food was mediocre and the rice was definitely not enough. Side dishes such as naan or pappadum had to be ordered for a fee. Really questionable given the hefty price of 45 euros for 2 meals + drinks. Unfortunately, the last straw was a little sparrow that bathed in our rice. This was replaced free of charge and the restaurant can't do anything about it, but the sparrows there were really a nuisance. Here you should (if) eat inside.

Delicious food, good service, great ambience

I had the pleasure of visiting Indian Crown Indian Restaurant recently and would like to share my enthusiastic impressions. From start to finish the experience was extremely positive. The ambience of the restaurant is charming and inviting. The warm colors and atmospheric lighting create a pleasant atmosphere that fits perfectly with Indian cuisine. The menu offered an impressive selection of Indian dishes. Both vegetarian and vegan options were plentiful. The quality of the food was outstanding. The flavors were authentic and the preparation demonstrated craftsmanship. I was particularly impressed by the variety of spices, which gave the dishes a deep flavor dimension. The service was attentive and friendly. The staff were knowledgeable about the different dishes and helped choose if you were unsure. The orders were served quickly and there was a pleasant atmosphere throughout the restaurant. Another plus point was the price-performance ratio. The portion sizes were generous and the prices seemed fair given the quality of the ingredients and preparation. Overall, my visit to Indian Crown was a dining experience that I highly recommend. For lovers of Indian cuisine, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. I'm already looking forward to my next stay and trying out more delicacies.

A restaurant spread over 2 floors, stylishly furnished and really nice ambience. As well as nice, friendly staff and fast/attentive service. The food was actually okay, the meat was tender and yet I don't think €22 for lamb with peas and carrots is entirely justified. Portion size was sufficient.

Schönes Ambiente, Räumlichkeiten sind nicht zu Überladen. Netter und guter Service, Freundliches Personal. Das Essen war super. Hatte Reserviert, war zum Montag Abend scheinbar nicht zwingend nötig.
