5 stars for 3 because of the good performance ratio. The hotel right next to Salem Castle is ideal as a starting point for a bike tour around Lake Constance. The service is pleasant and good for cyclists. Salem Castle and the cathedral are worth seeing. The boarding school students at the castle and the monkeys on the Affenberg are all quite nice. There is a fire department museum and lots of storks that are worth seeing.

Nice location. Breakfast good and rich. Staff very friendly. Restaurant is also good in terms of price/performance ratio. Old building with appropriate furnishings and therefore harmonious. Booked two double rooms, both for the same price. What unfortunately only became apparent on the drive home was the fact that the two rooms are very different in size and furnishings. In one room there is only one chair as seating for two people, the other room has a couch and a chair. I would have liked to have clarified this with the staff on site as I don't think the same price for the rooms is justified.
