Affenberg Schenke in Salem

The food was delicious, and the entire facility was very well-maintained. Surprisingly modern for a zoo tavern. The selection of drinks and dishes is extensive and appealing. The seating is really comfortable inside (with massive tables and wide benches) and outside on the stalls. The bad reviews really put us off, but due to our late arrival, we decided to go anyway. Luckily, the reviews don't match our impression at all. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures—not always easy with kids 😅

Nice big beer garden, self-service, food I would say is like a canteen, very cheap but not a highlight, just OK for a quick bite.

After our visit, we quickly grabbed a plate of fries: Very nice and, despite the crowds, served quite quickly. Special praise goes to the kitchen for clearly labeling allergens – especially the gluten-free products (they also differentiate between the fries: great!). Thank you for that.

The food selection, quality, and price were okay. Self-service beer garden. The separate smoking/non-smoking areas were also nice.

We were very pleased with the tavern. Thanks to the self-service and self-service setup, getting our food was quite quick, despite the large crowd. The selection is good, and we enjoyed the food. What stood out, however, was the ambiance. The houses are arranged around the tables and, with the presence of the storks, create a truly idyllic atmosphere. We also really liked the separation of smoking and non-smoking areas. The non-smoking area is also the one adjacent to the playground. We would be happy to come back here again.

The food wasn't good at all, the fries 🍟 were too hard. The internet was terrible, and an employee farted in front of me!! An employee scratched his butt in front of my brother!! Disgraceful!!

Great location, beautiful surroundings, but unfortunately the food wasn't of good quality. The meatballs, spaetzle, and fries were inedible, so I wouldn't recommend them as a meal. However, you can still enjoy a drink and visit the playground.

Was in the beer garden. The food could be better; the meatballs were lukewarm, and the fries were already hard and lukewarm. The staff was friendly. Smoking and non-smoking tables are separated 👍 It's okay for a quick bite.

Today we were at Affenberg in Salem. The trip was nice, but the restaurant was lower category. Spaetzle with sauce was inedible and tasted like nothing. I returned the plate and was treated unkindly by an older lady. She has never had any complaints about her food 😅 People left food on their plates in rows. After several requests, I got €3 back because we had already eaten something and therefore wouldn't get the full price back. Unfriendly and bold. We were offered the over-salted fries as a replacement (we already had these at the table). It was our last visit and Affenberg should quickly look for a new operator for the restaurant...

The food is below hospital level. Schnitzel is far dry. Fries were already cold when they came to the plate. There was so much fat in the bratwurst that it looked like it was fried.

The review only refers to the “restaurant” Affenberg Schenke. The food was inedible, poor quality. We had potato salad that was swimming in oil and had hardly any flavor. The spaetzle with sauce was not cooked properly and also completely tasteless. The vegetable schnitzel ended up in the trash can after 2 bites, greasy and rancid in taste. In addition, the employees there were not particularly friendly and motivated. It all seemed very careless...

👩‍🦽🧑‍🦯 Nice garden restaurant with self-service. The highlight are the storks that can be observed on the roofs. The wooden benches are a bit uncomfortable because of the partly uneven floor. 🚾♿️ are available and were clean.

You shouldn't go here to eat. I suspect nothing is really fresh here. The goulash soup was not what I hoped for. The nuggets are not crispy. The fries alone were okay. Far too expensive for TK or convenience. E.g. A cup of soup without bread rolls €4. Veal sausages without bun €4.

Short version Schnitzel is pressed meat and simply tastes like nothing. Fries are dried out. Overall poor quality. Staff friendly. Average price, but too high for the goods on offer.

The beer garden is located in the inner courtyard under large chestnut trees. The food is okay, it's more of a sausage stand category than a restaurant. But everything is clean and accurate and the staff are friendly.

Nice self-service restaurant, the prices are a bit high but still within reason. There is a large beer garden where you can usually always find a spot. However, it can be very crowded, especially on weekends. We had a few drinks, there is a lot to choose from from water to soft drinks to alcoholic drinks. For food there were fries with bratwurst and sausage salad. The fries came straight from the deep fryer and were fried nice and crispy, the sausage salad was like mom's, simply delicious. Unfortunately you had to pay extra for bread or rolls for the sausage salad and for the fries you have to add a little extra for ketchup and mayo. Really clean for a self-service restaurant and delicious food as well as a great beer garden.

Great beer garden, nice, fast service. Extremely clean/new furnishings for a self-service restaurant. As expected, it's not a culinary highlight, but it fills you up. Portions are reasonable and were fine.

Essen und trinken ist ok, Mitarbeiter sind freundlich und zackig. Für einen kleinen Snack vor oder nach dem Affenburg gerade richtig.

Das Essen ist leider meiner Meinung nicht in Ordnung, 3,8€ für warm gehaltene kleine Portion Pommes die dazu noch ranzig schmecken und ein Beilagensalat der als großer Salat deklariert wird, achso Selbstbedienung, also Systemgastronomie... für jeden Pups zahlt man extra. Hier würde ich nur wieder hin gehen wenn ich am verhungern oder verdursten wäre... Die Toiletten sind auch eine Zumutung.

Typische standart. Wurst, Pomes, Flaschenbier. Genug um Hunger zu lindern.

Kleiner netter Biergarten mit der Möglichkeit auch drinnen zu sitzen. Es gibt eine kleine Speisekarte mit günstigen Preisen. Das Essen war lecker und das Servicepersonal war sehr freundlich. Es gibt eine Mikrowelle falls man beispielsweise Babynahrung aufwärmen möchte.

Super netter Service . Essen top. Hier wird sich sehr nett um die Kundschaft gekümmert. Kommen gerne wieder .

Preise okay, essen kantinenmäßig und auch ganz okay. Durch die Lage muss man sich nicht viel Mühe geben. Wer mit Kindern zum Affenberg geht wird danach dort etwas essen. Das merkt man leider.

War zum ersten Mal dort ,war Angesicht sehr schön, die frei lebenden Affen die so gehalten werden,auch trotz der Corona Zeiten top. Beim Wild ( Damwild) fand ich das unverständlich, der Damwild hatte ne Chipstüte die ganze Zeit gehabt,da die Leute nicht aufgepasst hatten. Da wäre es auch sinnvoll mehr Personal hinzustellen,um dies zukünftig sofort zu handeln, um den Tieren keinen Müll zu Fraß zu geben.

Schnitzel durch warmhalten etwas trocken

Ich finde, dass die Auswahl auf der aüßerst gut designten Speisekarte, sehr einfallsreich und lecker ist. Die Affen schmeckten auch ganz gut. I like. Bitte lasst nächstes Mal aber eure unbewachten Wertgegenstände am besten bei mir.

Hier könnte man so viel mehr draus machen: einen gemütlichen Biergarten bayrischen Stils in wunderschönem Hofambiente. So ist es halt Kantine für Tierparkbesucher - es ist okay, daher 3 Sterne. Minus einen für meine Enttäuschung über die vertane Chance...

Ein schöner Biergarten mit einfachen Speisen die vor allem Kindern schmecken. Auf den Dächern brüten Störche. Das zu sehen ist fast schon die Reise Wert.

Die 2 Sterne gibts für die Auswahl der Getränke und den tollen Ausblick auf die Storchennester mit der Nähe zum tollen Kinder- Spielplatz. Enttäuscht sind wir aber über das Essen - es ist eine Frechheit. Wir hatten einen kleinen gemischten Salat und das Kartoffelgratin. Es war total überwürtzt mit irgendeinem Suppenbrühwürfel und als ich es der Frau an der Ausgabe sagt, meinte die nur, ich wäre der einzigste dem es nicht schmecken würde. Das hab ich so auch noch nie erlebt. Schade, dass im Raum Bodensee hier die Qualität des Essens scheinbar zweitrangig ist. Es wäre ja auch zuviel verlangt, wenn die ganze Familie zufrieden wieder hinaus geht. Naja die Kinder hatten jedenfalls Ihren Spaß was solls.. Aber diese Schenke ist auf jedenfall darauf getrimmt, Essen raus zu hauen und nicht auf Geschmack und Qualität ausgelegt. Jedenfalls nicht bei unserem Essen. Leider
