Mangetsu City in Frankfurt am Main

Disclaimer: I'm an Asian American Sushi had poor quality salmon, and the rice was too sticky. Also, there is too much rice on the rolls. I'm used to sushi that would melt in my mouth. I had to chew through this salmon. The salmon in the case looked nice, though. Miso ramen was bland. The bamboo flavor really came through the first couple of bites, but after that, it was bland. I realized it must be the bamboo water that had pooled from when they garnished the ramen with bamboo. Once I bit the bamboo, yup, that was it. The egg was tough, but the yolk was soft. The one piece of pork was tough, as well, leaving me longing for the melt-in-your-mouth pork that I've had elsewhere. Charged for tap water, which I didn't realize was a thing in Germany. Only plus was the texture of the noodles. I will not return.

Very tasty and authentic Japanese cuisine. We tried different dishes and found everything very good. The eggplant in miso sauce was particularly our highlight. The service was always friendly and attentive so we had a nice evening. The price is also completely okay. You should definitely make a reservation in the evening, otherwise everything may be full. Overall very tasty and recommended!

This is the best Japanese restaurant I have ever eaten at in my dozens of trips to Germany. It is highly recommended. The important thing is that you must make a reservation otherwise it will be difficult to get a seat👍👍

Delicious food and good service

There is a wide variety of food and alcohol. Many of the staff are Japanese, and they can communicate well in Japanese. Of course, their service is also very good. The prices may not be the same as Japanese izakayas, but the taste is exactly the same. I sometimes see shops that serve Japanese beer in Europe, but this is the first time I've come across a shop that serves shochu, especially Amami's shochu called Rento. Rento is not often seen in pubs in Kyushu. Is the soy sauce sweet and from Kyushu? That's what I thought, but it turns out that kelp is added to regular sashimi soy sauce. Food, drinks, service, everything is good. Be sure to visit when you come to Frankfurt.

Nice little Japanese restaurant, if you know Mangetsu near the trade fair you will also love the shop near the Eschersheimer Turm. Japanese service is always non plus ultra. You get green tea for free and the food tastes good too. I had karaage as a starter and ramen with miso soup as my main course. The broth has a mild to strong taste and the noodles are nice and firm to the bite...delicious. I will definitely visit again.

I ordered the lunch menu. The side dishes didn't taste good. It looked like a lot, but it was mostly sauces and pickles. Reservation is recommended. The sushi looked significantly better.

I ate here 6 times in a row because it’s very good authentic sushi. I’ve not tried all the dishes but it’s a traditional looking Japanese restaurant and the service was good and friendly

My favorite lunch place. The lunch menu is between 13-19 Eur and it the most value lunch place in the area. The waiting time for food is varied depend on date and sometime I had to wait for such a long time. However the food always meet exepectation.

Food was great. The service was really bad... I've never experienced anything like that. The old Japanese woman was so unfriendly. I was always afraid of her. After eating I just had a bad feeling even though I ate a lot of delicious food. It was a shame. I'm never coming back.

One of the best sushi restaurants I have ever visited. Very authentic. Lunch is highly recommended. We reserved a day in advance. When we are back in FFM we will eat there again.

I think Mangetsu is the best Japanese restaurant in Frankfurt! :) Lunch is highly recommended, you can get different menus with several side dishes and drinks starting from 13/14€! With a large selection for both lunch and dinner. Tastes very tasty and authentic.

Good, very fresh, authentic sushi, nice service, small minus point that it would have been nice if everyone had gotten the food at the same time, but not tragic. Everything looked good and was tasty, the price was ok, good sushi is expensive. Very well crafted, recommended.

I ate well. I found it by chance while walking around in the evening. I arrived before business hours, made a reservation, and went to see more things to see around. Just in case, I thought I should make a reservation in advance next time. Compared to Japanese restaurants in Korea or Japan, it's an ordinary restaurant, but since this is Germany, I feel a bit generous. It was nice to have beer and a few things to choose from in the evening, and it tasted good. I had gyoza, fried tacos, grilled saury, udon and beer. Overall, it was okay and I enjoyed it. There was one staff member who had a bit of difficulty communicating in English, but another person came to help and checked on us from time to time, so we had a comfortable stay.

Were there for lunch break, overall the atmosphere was good, unfortunately the shop was a bit cramped. The food was good and I personally think the price-performance ratio was great. The only thing I don't like is that you can't choose the sushi in the menu. Reservation is recommended.

This is what it must feel like in Japan, we were surrounded by lots of locals. The food was excellent and luckily we didn't have to wait long for it. The service was very attentive and we had a very nice evening at Mangetsu. Be sure to make a reservation (but it was also possible for us at short notice on the same day). We will be back definitely!

Ordered tempura udon and beef udon. Udon texture was good and came with lots of green onion and seaweed. The tempura was also fried well with a thin batter. However, the broth was too salty and the beef was too chewy.

If you're craving Japanese food, this is the place. I go there to eat every time. It's popular among locals, so if you have a certain number of people, it's best to make a reservation for lunch. There are many Japanese staff, so I think you can make reservations in Japanese.

Nice staff and fast, friendly service. You really have to like fish because there are hardly any alternatives to fish. However, everyone in our group was convinced and satisfied with the preparation and quality. Only the ambience could be a little more appealing.

In conclusion, the main store is better. But the food here is also delicious and the service is fast. I recommend the lunch menu.

With a bit of luck we got a table in the evening, the small restaurant got very full after it opened - so reservations are necessary! The udon are highly recommended, so far the best we have eaten in Frankfurt. The sushi was also excellent, you could taste the high quality. Overall very friendly service, we look forward to the next time! :)

A family owned restaurant, where a guest is treated with love and care. My personal favourite is Tempura Udon, white thick noodles with clear broth, algae and spring onions + combination of deep-fried vegetables and a shrimp. Age takoyaki is a really nice snack. During the Lunch you get Inarizushi to this Udon, sweet rice in fried tofu skin. 10/10, i love it.

The food here is very cheap and good, the lunch menu was delicious although it is a bit smaller than before. The ambience is also nice. My staff are nice and friendly, the old woman was very helpful, that's why I gave tips. But the young woman at reception isn't so nice and seems racist. The man came in front of me had a 2 chair table but I had orders to move a staff table but I was already seated. Hopefully the staff have better training and treat everyone, either Asian, German, man, woman, the same.

The food was okay, there are other restaurants that are much better. Staff could also be a little more attentive and friendly. That's not possible: they put their own homemade tap water from the Sodastream on our table and wanted 7 EUR for it??? When we asked if we could get the water as shown on the menu, there was a rude answer...

To define in two words: high quality! Delicious and authentic Japanese restaurant in Frankfurt! I visited regularly and the quality is always top notch! I love it specially during the lunch hour. Their lunch menu is the best and the price price is honest for such a quality! Amazing rice and raw fishes!

Horrible experience from the hostess. Girl with short black hair. I asked her for a table for two and she said I’m sorry we have no tables you have to leave. I asked her, “I have to leave?” just to make sure I was hearing it correctly. And she emphasized that she had no tables and she could not help me. She was rude and just walked away. I told her about this review and she didn’t care.

Authentic and delicious. Some surprises on the menu and many Asian guests also speak for themselves. I like that you can also order soups in the evening at the City branch. The only small minus: it could be cleaner.

Authentic and heavily visited by Japanese people

We are regulars and come here several times a month, both lunch and dinner. 🔸Service🔸 Very friendly, attentive, efficient and definitely kids-friendly despite tight spaces. We have kids and strollers, and they always try to accommodate us, such as proactively offering a warmer spot for my baby, kids utensils (awesome chopsticks by the way!) and chair. My kid also gets candies every time😄 Food orders are always taken and delivered promptly. 🔸Food🔸 They offer a large variety of authentic Japanese good and most are really good, including ramen considering they are not a dedicated ramen house😊 I eat sushi (nigiri) every time and the fish/seafood are very good and high quality. Their tuna and toro are excellent (even in lunch set the quality does not compromise), I wonder if they always use bluefin tuna… because in Germany most of the time the tuna is tasteless! I have extremely high requirement of authentic sushi and I approve this! 🔸🔸🔸 We will definitely be visiting Mangetsu regularly👍👍👍

Lecker, aber die Suppenschale kann man im normalen Handel wohl nicht kaufen.. Im Kinderküchenbedarfshandel oder in Fachgeschäften fuer Liliputaner dürfte man vermutlich fündig werden. Satt wird man von einer Nudelsuppe nicht... Dafür dann 15.5 Euro abzurufen ist... sportlich. Schade

Good Japanese restaurant that has both amazing ramen and sushi. One of the best in town.

I was somewhat disappointed, I was hoping for a better meal considering the high rating and glowing reviews but the food was just average. Tonkotsu ramen had a decent broth but the noodles were terrible, too thin, no chew, cheap noodles. The ajitama (Japanese seasoned egg) was just a boiled egg (it's arguably the best topping in ramen), again disappointing and for the price of this dish I expected a proper bowl of ramen. I also had the spicy tuna roll, it was ok, but that's it. I think part of the problem is the amount of options on the menu, a smaller menu would/ should increase the quality of the dishes but with the food I had, i wouldn't be in a hurry to return. The staff however were extremely polite and very accommodating, and the main reason for my 3 star review. I'll give them another visit sometime, might have been an off night.

Favorite restaurant in Frankfurt. Great atmosphere, great service, and I never had a dish that wasn't tasty here. Reasonably priced as well. They have a seasonal menu as well, and they are also really really good!!! If I could, I would go there everytime!!

Wir waren auf Empfehlung von Freunden zum ersten Mal hier essen. Das Restaurant ist sehr schön eingerichtet und die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen war sehr lecker und (für mein empfinden) auch sehr authentisch.

Das Lokal nennt sich Izakaya Restaurant und ist daher eher wie eine japanische Kneipe als ein Restaurant eingerichtet. Auch die Deko ist dementsprechend ausgerichtet. Als wir angekommen sind, haben wir mittags sofort eine Tasse Tee erhalten; ein schöner Service. Überhaupt waren die Bedienungen stets aufmerksam und die Bestellung wurde zügig aufgenommen. Das Sushi hat uns sofort überzeugt. Sehr frisch und wohlschmeckend. Als Vorspeise hatten wir die frittierten Teigbällchen mit Oktopus bestellt; optisch schön, aber nicht ganz unser Geschmack. Wir werden mit Sicherheit wiederkommen. .

Eigentlich ganz ok. Geschmack ist authentisch, aber nicht wirklich das beste was man kriegen kann. Meiner Meinung nach zahlt man abends auch etwas zu viel, mittags kriegt man gute Preise.

Sehr gutes Mittags Menü. Die Gerichte sind alle super, besonders Karaage.

Solider Japaner mit fairen Preisen und auch Mittagsangeboten. Dementsprechend perfekt für eine leckere Mittagspause. Katsudon für mich ein comfort dish, deswegen auch hier nicht allzu viel auszusetzen, außer dass es vielleicht etwas wenig war. Die Ramen waren lecker, etwas süßer als man es kennt, aber das hatte etwas in meinen Augen. Würde irgendwann wieder kommen und weitere Gerichte probieren wollen.

Authentische Küche! Das Essen war sehr lecker. Preis Leistung ist auch sehr gut! Das Restaurant ist sehr schön gestaltet aber klein mit wenig Platz. Man sollte definitiv reservieren, da man sonst keinen Tisch bekommt. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und gibt ihr bestes.

Calpis!!! Finally found a restaurant in Frankfurt that sells this traditional refreshing rice-based drink! Delicious starters and a great atmosphere. The Duck that I ate was ok, but the price-taste ratio could have been better. Still recommend and I would be back for sure.

We came here for some small food and the purpose was fulfilled not only by great food but also nice seat. I liked the inside table next to open window, which offered fresh air but was not too close to people walking by. The staff was also friendly. We came here spontaneously and luckily got seats but normally a reservation beforehand is strongly recommended.

Ich war bis jetzt öfter wegen Mittag essen hier. Sashimi Portion einfach Top, sehr frische zutaten sowie Meeresfrüchte, schnell zu bereitet .

Das Essen war okay. Ich hätte mehr erwartet von einem japanischen Restaurant mit einheimische Köche. Die Qualität war leider durchschnittlich. Haben mehrere Runde verschiedene Vorspeisen probiert. Die Edamame war besonders schlecht von der Qualität bishin zu Darbietung! Das Sushi war leider nicht so schön frisch wie man es gewohnt ist, der Reis war nicht fest und ist auseinander gefallen bevor man es überhaupt zu sich nehmen konnte. Die Bedienung war nicht sehr aufmerksam vorallem der Junge Herr der da planlos rumrannte.
