Mangal Döner in Pulheim

We arrived this evening. And the store was simply closed. No information on the door or online. I mean, if there's anything wrong with staff or something else, maybe a quick message on the door. Maps said (open for another 3 hours).

Mangal Döner – a culinary odyssey in three acts We enter the shop in good spirits. Three people, three sandwiches, three hungry mouths. A manageable undertaking, you'd think. 15 minutes later – which, in kebab time, corresponds to about half of Ramadan – we're served with a facial expression you'd normally only see on people who've just found out their dog ate their Wi-Fi password: "There's... only one fresh sandwich left." One. For three people. It's like musical tickets for a group, but only one gets to see "The Lion King." The others get... dürüm. dürüm is great. If you've ordered it. But we wanted one sandwich, and three of them. That was the deal. Not two dürüm and one sandwich like a consolation prize on "Wetten, dass...?". So we thank them. Politely. Disappointed. Like people who are told the amusement park is closing while they're standing at the entrance. We leave the establishment. Hungry. Disillusioned. With a feeling somewhere between irony and quiet anger. Conclusion: Service like a cliffhanger – but unfortunately, without a sequel. That's what we got at Mangal Döner in Chorweiler… more like Poldi's playground, apparently. They had everything there, including a lollipop for the little ones.

Waiting 20 minutes only to find out they're out of bread. You can't tell people waiting when they enter the store, right? Unbelievable!!!

Why does a ready-made dürüm cost more than the house bread? There's no meat sauce on it, nothing, and it comes out of an Aldi bag! The portions vary wildly, with more or less meat. And then the sauce, which has mayo as its base, is yucky. Update 05/30/2025: I was just kept waiting for 30 minutes for three kebabs, and then my friends were attacked. People, that's unacceptable. The place is rancid, there are cobwebs everywhere, and there's no sign of customer service. This is the last place I was.

As expected, the quality of the kebab is quite good. Friday evening around 8 p.m. there was nothing going on, so we ordered and were served immediately. There were crumbs, leftover meat and sometimes trays with leftover food on the tables and on the floor. Showering and wiping is a must in a restaurant. Hope to give a better review very soon.

Today was the first and last time I ate my kebab in this setting. I'm generally a fan of Mangal kebabs and always very satisfied with the taste, but the place...it wasn't heated (I couldn't take my jacket off), the furniture was worn, the toilet was dirty, and there weren't even any paper towels for washing my hands. It's a shame that there seem to be such drastic differences in the Mangal concept.

The service is the worst, the gentleman is rude, he has a hard time taking the order, he doesn't understand much, he put falafel on durum wheat that had meat on it before and he knew the customer was vegetarian, the kebab is good but the service at this place is terrible

The food was terrible. The service was horrible! The clerk prepared my kebab without washing the dogs or wearing gloves after "cleaning up" in the kitchen. Everything was cold and tasteless. Never again from this shop!!! Other branches are better, so there's another way.

No, sorry, but this is just annoying: I'm happy to pay more for a good kebab, but this is the height of insolence! I'd call it a rip-off. Of course, the ATM machine was broken, what else? The kebab was delivered from the store to the Aldi parking lot (the food was packaged and driven the 100m) ice cold... and what's wrong with your bread? And the sauces? I'm really angry. I got terrible stomach cramps last night, including a whistling whistling sound. Never again.

It's been there many times, but since the older kebab man seems to be the last remaining staff, it's no longer sustainable. It was simply terrible. My boyfriend and I waited an hour, and then my kebab turned out to be a vegetarian one, even though I wanted one with extra meat. The meat was too fatty and the bread too dry; you could barely taste the sauces. Conclusion: Please don't go here, it tastes terrible.

We are not from here and thought that “Poldi” stood for quality and card payment. As soon as we entered, we were hit by an intense smell, as if the ventilation wasn't working properly. There was a single customer in the store, but that didn't change the uninviting atmosphere: dirty tables, an unattractive display and no friendliness from the staff. When we simply asked whether card payment was possible, we received a stroppy and annoyed answer: “No, no card.” So it was clear that we wouldn't eat anything here. What we took away, however, was the unpleasant smell on our clothes that accompanied us the entire two-hour drive. If I ran my store like that, it would be a quick end.

Unfortunately, today I had one of the worst culinary experiences when it came to kebabs. The meat was extremely dry, the bread was old and not at all tasty, the sauce was bland and simply bad. I've already eaten Poldi Döner on Bonnstrasse in Cologne, that was a different league... The ambience, the unmotivated employees, everything had a negative effect. My daughter and I left some because it was simply inedible. A guest at the next table simply threw 2/3 of her Pomdöner into the trash can. Never again!

We usually enjoy eating at Mangal. But here it is a catastrophe. The ambience made me wonder whether it was really the “real” Mangal from Poldi. Then a note written with Edding "Unfortunately card payment is not possible...". A very bored employee who barely understood anything. It seemed like he was being forced to work there. The meat was ice cold very quickly. The bread was thin and burnt. It didn't taste good here at all. If this were our first Mangal experience, we would never have eaten at Mangal again. I now had to pay €22 for this bad meal. Dear Poldi, check the shop there properly, it's best to close it. And feel free to transfer me my €22 back for this culinary disaster...

We were at the restaurant in Stommeln today (Friday evening) at 6:50 p.m. The shop didn't look particularly inviting and the waiting guests were told that there was only bread left for a kebab and a lamacun. On a Friday evening!!!!

Today I was in a “shortage of kebabs” and unfortunately very disappointed. The food was cold and the kebab was dry rather than juicy. The sauce was hard to taste and the salad seemed old. The employees also seemed unmotivated and not particularly friendly. For the price I would have expected much more. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it.

Service underground, entered the Mangal in Stommeln yesterday around 6:30 p.m. 4 guests at a table, no one at the counter. In the back kitchen an employee leaned with his butt on the edge of the table, looked up briefly and then continued to use his cell phone. After 2 minutes I left the store. That was the last time this Mangal saw me. With this service, Mr. Podolski will probably be able to close this branch very soon!

So it was very disappointing! We were there at 9pm! First of all, the air conditioning was running at full speed and it was colder inside than outside! Then the tables weren't wiped down even though there was nothing going on! Apparently the trash cans or whatever in the store stank! We said hello and nothing came back! The employee didn't feel like it anymore because he didn't even want to finish making fries. I ate a kebab and at just under 8 euros it wasn't cheap either! It didn't really taste good either because it was cold! And the receipt came the next day! It's a shame, I'm really very disappointed! The shop in the city at the cathedral was a lot tastier!

I was here early on Sunday lunchtime - when there was nothing going on - and wanted to treat myself to some fries... My table was very dirty, full of blobs of sauce and salt. When I looked at the completely dirty, empty napkin dispenser, I felt sick. Overall, the facility is totally run down. I couldn't finish the portion of fries for €5.90 because almost half of them were still light, soft and limp. Bottom line: really disgusting. Once and never again.

I actually really enjoy eating the Poldie’s sandwich. Unfortunately, I've been to Mangal Döner twice now for free because there was no more bread - and each time on a Saturday evening two hours before the store closed. You expect a delicious kebab and then you are disappointed. I wasn't even offered an alternative. The employees seemed rather uninterested and couldn't suggest a solution to me. Really annoying and disappointing - especially when you make the extra journey and then have to go home hungry. I won't be going back here any time soon.

Sorry, since the new operators are in there it's just GROSS AND BAD. The cocktail sauce is so liquefied that it soaks the hard bread. Fat oozes out. It just tastes bad. That WAS much better. If the operators only speak in their language, you as a customer don't feel particularly valued. WE DEFINITELY WILL NOT COME TO THIS BRANCH AGAIN. WE'D RATHER DRIVE SEVERAL KM TO ANOTHER BRANCH BECAUSE IT RUNS PERFECTLY THERE.

I was in the store for the first time on July 17, 2024 with my husband and in my opinion, the employees who prepared my food for me as well as the young lady at the checkout were very friendly and the food was freshly prepared, especially the salad freshly prepared. Only the ambience looks a bit old and new furniture should definitely be arranged. See you next time

There was no special kindness or attention to enhance the experience. Eat: What was positive was that the bread was fresh and the sauces in the kebab tasted good. Unfortunately the meat no longer met my taste, it seemed artificial and was very fatty. Despite the taste, I ate enough, but without feeling like I had enjoyed anything special. Conclusion: Overall, my visit to this branch was unfortunately not convincing. It's not a place I would particularly recommend.

How can a shop like this survive to this day? Listless employees. Onions were prepared with bare hands in the kitchen. The shop is dirty. With the kebab, the bread was dry and overbaked and therefore rock hard. Some of the meat wasn't cooked through. The sauce was already mixed with other sauces and tasted bitter. Get a rash on your tongue immediately after eating it. Those sensitive to hygiene know what I mean.

We were in this store for the first time 3 weeks ago! The NICE, unkempt lady at the checkout took our order in between (cell phone was more interesting) (but she was so unfriendly and aggressive) . The young man at the kebab skewer was alone and didn't get any support from the lady! (The boss's daughter, which I found out later) I won't mention the hygiene in the seating area because others have already done that :-( My son's meal was ready. But we still had to wait for the fries because she hadn't already thrown them into the deep fryer. So my son's food got cold (he wanted to eat at home) I asked that we would like the sauces packed separately. If this is possible. The young man on the spit said of course. But there were no containers at hand. He asked the young lady to get some. She was totally annoyed and was gone for 10 minutes. Came back in the meantime and of course the fries etc were cold! She had a very unkempt appearance: hair looked like it hadn't been washed for at least a week, long unkempt nails were partly broken, and her T-shirt hadn't been washed for at least a week. SHE DOESN'T KNOW THE TIME OF DAY OR A SMILE (this is the second time I've seen her there, same thing) And something like that in the food industry! The guys who work there apologize for the circumstances and say unfortunately they can't do anything. They are really nice and try hard. SHE IS THE BOSS' DAUGHTER. I've already called the main switchboard. This is well known, or at least that's how it seemed to me. As a Frenchiser, Mann should try harder. The kebab is not bad, at least better than what you get in Pulheim. We won't be going there anymore because of the NICE LADY. 2 x gave the store a chance.

If you want to eat a Mangal kebab, you should definitely not go to Stommeln. I have nothing to complain about at the other branches, but this one is a disaster, especially in terms of hygiene, so you lose your appetite. The toilets are a disaster (several layers of urine dried on top of each other.. a large sign tells you not to throw hand towels into the toilet, but there is no toilet paper anywhere in sight..), dirty cutlery, straws with spider webs, floors, tables, etc . dirty. Worst Mangal store I've been to so far. The kebab couldn't be compared at all to what you're used to from Mangal. The portion of fries consisted of hot and cold fries...there were probably leftovers mixed together. The cleanliness of the store was a disaster. The tables were dirty and there was leftover food everywhere. The same thing happened on the floor, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly in weeks. The store was completely empty and the employee had a cell phone in his hand the entire time. Maybe he should have swapped the cell phone for a rag. The visit was a real disappointment.

The visit was on July 4, 2024 at around 1:35 p.m On hand, the kebab sandwich was unfortunately not edible because it was half torn apart. Already got takeaway falafel sandwiches there twice. Both times they were delicious and richly filled. Special requests (additional portion of falafel balls) were easily possible. I personally don't like the ambience of sitting there, but so far I have nothing to complain about about the food itself!

I had a chicken doner sandwich. Compared to the other mangals in Cologne, this was the worst store so far. The kebab was actually quite okay, but unfortunately some of the meat was very burnt and dry. The Poldi-Ayran couldn't score points compared to other no-name Ayrans. Unfortunately there were no thirst quenchers even though they were on the menu. In addition, there were no dry towels in the men's toilet. The only plus point: the portion of the kebab was much larger than in other shops and that I got the Ayran for free (I have no idea why) I will not visit this mangal again.

I ate there with my family. When my world champion plate was put together I noticed the browned lettuce. Only after a comment was it pushed to the side and I was served fresh salad. In my wife and children's Dürüm, which had already been rolled, the browned lettuce was used. My sister-in-law also had a world champion plate and her meat wasn't cooked through. It's a shame, we had hoped for more.

I ordered 2x kebab plates in advance. Unfortunately, the ambience was taken over by the previous owner with worn benches, pretty bad by Mangal standards. When asked questions, the employee seemed very confused and unsettled. Cutlery wasn't replenished at the counter, the table was dirty and not wiped clean. In addition, oriental music is used, which doesn't seem particularly inviting. Last but not least, there was a very browned (rotten) lettuce leaf in the salad, you could mistake it for chicken meat. Last but not least, the smell in the store was anything but pleasant. The food was somewhat positive, at least it was “OK”. The portions were normal but still too expensive compared to the price. Conclusion: Disappointing and overhyped. Won't eat there anymore. I don't understand how people can say positive things about the store. Probably friends of the owner...

I treated myself to a Dürüm. Taste good but nothing special. I was now thinking of a premium kebab shop but that's not it. Actually like any other. 8.90 for n Dürüm is not without it but you can treat yourself

Incredibly incompetent, gum-smacking employees. Demotivated, lame, disinterested and just plain dull. The taste was delicious... it would certainly have been even better if everything had still been warm!! But unfortunately once and never again!!

3 employees together have an IQ of toast. 1 is working, 2 others are standing around looking stupid. It took them 20 minutes for 3 Dürrüm. The other 2 were already cold. Meat not grilled but cooked through. What a bunch of idiots there.

As soon as we entered the "booth" it didn't smell as appetizing as it should. Everything looked dingy. So I briefly checked to see if there was a clean table. But apart from chewing gum stuck on the benches, smeared tables and really dirty floors, there was nothing there. At the exit of the tablet return, the probably not tasty food was piled up. Of course we left “The Booth” without an order. Mr. Podolski should perhaps keep an eye on who sells his otherwise great and delicious kebabs in other stations. PS: the unfriendly manner of the staff was also not welcoming.

Prices are really exaggerated. Just not worth the food. Staff was okay. Planned to eat there, but tables and benches weren't clean. The floor was also dirty. You could look behind the counter and there was plaster that had probably fallen off the wall at the socket. This was taped with insulating tape. Were there for the first and last time. By far the best kebab I've ever eaten. My girlfriend ate the World Champion plate, we haven't seen such a huge portion in a long time. Please keep it up. We'll be back 💯💯💯. Thank you very much for the delicious food.
