Maihan Restaurant in Hamburg

Pure disaster! I ordered a dish today and picked it up. I was struck as very unpleasant at the checkout because I walk into this store and have to wait 5 minutes for someone to even take the order. Then the customer is spoken to in a very snooty way. That’s about “service”. Food took 20 minutes. When I got home I was in shock. There were actually 5 spoons in total. The food that was made for me could just as easily have been an appetizer. Totally little! Definitely not recommended.

Были компанией , хотели познать афганскую кухню Ничего, честно говоря, не поняли Рис, мясо, овощи, специи Если бы не знали, что национальный афганский ресторан, решили бы, что просто восточная кухня и не более. Ничего не удивило, рис был неплох, но прям мало. Порции, в принципе, не назовешь большими, мяса малооо и оно спрятано внутрь риса:) Куриное филе на шпажках откровенно пересушено. Вкусными были только манты. Обслуживание очень вялое и неторопливое, чек просили 3 раза, устали ждать. Ценник явно завышен. Желания вернуться точно нет!

As an Afghan, I really feel at home in the Maihan restaurant. The food tastes just as good as in Afghanistan! I can particularly recommend the Qabeli rice with lamb fillet and eggplant – really tasty. The Mantu are great too! The staff is very friendly and the ambience is nice and inviting. The price is also absolutely fair. If you like Afghan cuisine, you should definitely stop by here.

This restaurant foods are call Afghan food ,but it is not really Afghan food it’s just rubbish. Rude customer service . I complained about the food but they said it modern food The traditional food of a country can’t be modern. They don’t know what is modern. Over all I don’t recommend for any one specially Afghan to visit this restaurant to eat the testy Afghan food .

I didn't know Afghan cuisine and was therefore curious. Now I'm a fan. Super nice and attentive staff, delicious food and good playlists for a great lounge-like atmosphere. The portions were huge. Good vegan selection.

We were there last night. The weather was perfect. We were greeted very friendly and shown straight to our table. The service was extremely friendly, we were served very quickly and the food came quickly. The starter and main course were perfectly timed. The food was incredibly tasty. The lamb was buttery tender and my halloumi skewer was deliciously seasoned. Salad and rice were also very delicious. The Mantu as a starter and the dips with bread were also super tasty. All in all a successful evening. The restaurant is already saved as my favorite.

Beautiful Afghan in the middle of Eppendorf. Ambiance invites you to linger. Attentive, friendly service, dishes are explained. We decided on the grill plate, just under 50 euros, and a vegetarian dish, just under 17 euros. Food is beautifully prepared. For our taste, the rice side dish was too little in relation to the grill plate. The lamb kebabs were outstanding. The other skewers were also tasty. Only the dips beforehand didn't quite grab us. Hummus has little to do with Afghan cuisine. And the taste can also be improved. But overall, good Afghan food, with great service and a nice atmosphere.

Food was very good, but we had to wait an HOUR for it...

Eat: The Dogh (yoghurt mint drink) was much too runny and full of ice cubes and for €5.90 it was much too overpriced and weak in taste. The Mantu dish was very small and only 8 pieces for a whopping €20. I think it was extremely overpriced and the taste didn't live up to the price. In various other Afghan restaurants you can get 10 pieces for €12 and are much larger and tastier. Both the lamb fillet and the chicken were on the grill for absolutely too long and were simply dry and difficult to swallow. Both dishes were burnt and overlooked with a dark crust. For €24 and €22 each. The menu on the website is no longer up to date and neither are the prices. Service: was good, only the time between starter and main course was too long at 30 minutes. You'll get full again in time. Ambiance: It was beautifully and openly furnished, but the seating was close to the neighboring table.

Great restaurant! Excellent food (I particularly recommend the chicken with rice and salad @#9 on the menu). Otherwise, the service is quick and friendly and the atmosphere is very pleasant.

The food was incredibly delicious and not overpriced, the service was friendly and the atmosphere very cozy. We had the grill platter for 2 people and even took some of it home, as the portions are rather large (not complaining though!). The dips were delicious, the meat was juicy and the rice was on point. Would definitely go again 😁

Great place to eat, good food, not large but enough and tasty food with nice presentation in nice plates. We were sit quick and the food arrived fairly quickly. I ordered Kubide with kabuli, we also ordered Tikka with Kabuli. Ashak on the side. The kababls come with rice and salad, all tasty and fresh. The meat is cooked well and not seasoned too much, so you may add your own salt and perhaps pepper. Ashak was mediocre, it may not be the food I go here for next time. Doogh was fresh and yummy and Kardomom tea was good. Suggestions: Bring and leave the tea in a tray, for many reasons! Try to stay with patrons and offer them help to decide. The table beside us clearly needed help and the kind server just gave them more time. This is authentic food and not everyone knows what to order. Have picture of your nicely presented food on your menue. Ask clients maybe a bit earlier how everything is. You have a great restaurant with great food and presented well

Here I would like to emphasize that the food was excellent as always. Unfortunately, I also have to mention that I was very disappointed with the service that evening. In contrast to previous visits, the quality of service was not at the usual level. What further disappointed me is that I noticed that some guests were offered liquor or tea on the house, while we were not. This seemed unfair to me. I would like to emphasize that I really appreciate your cuisine and your restaurant and it would be a shame if such service issues affected my future visits. I therefore hope that you will take my comments seriously and take measures to restore the quality of service to the usual level.

Very nice Afghan restaurant with extremely nice staff! The dishes were very tasty and beautifully presented. Cocktail was also delicious. Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for the food and it didn't come at the same time. One of us had to wait quite a long time but then got bread and dips on the house. And a round of liquor was also handed out. The portion of vegetable skewers with halloumi could have had a little more halloumi, as it was hardly enough as a protein side dish. But everything was delicious! For the dumplings with spinach, it should be noted on the menu that they are fried. It was tasty but fried was too greasy for some guests. The terrace could be decorated a little nicer, otherwise the atmosphere was nice ☺️

A big compliment to the kitchen!!!The food tastes simply delicious and is always prepared with great attention to detail. The salad is heavenly, with the berries and nuts and a sweet, delicious dressing! The meat is very tender, the minced meat skewer was perfectly seasoned and not too salty this time and the rice was cooked perfectly. This restaurant has become my favorite restaurant. The service changed and was very friendly.

Discovered by chance. We were thrilled. The reception and then the service at the table were friendly, attentive and competent. The food was extremely tasty and perfectly prepared. The ratio of meat, vegetables, salad and rice was balanced. We were more than full. The restaurant is absolutely recommended. The price-performance ratio is really ok.

It was my first time eating Afghan food and I was really impressed! Both had the traditional rice qabili and the lamb stock comes out very intense here. We had this dish both as a vegetarian version and with lamb and both were really very good. From the mint sauce to the salad (ultra delicious dressing!), everything was really right and prepared with love. I can highly recommend 👍🏼

Mega delicious food and cozy atmosphere! I've been coming here regularly for three years and the menu is so varied that I'm still trying it out! The staff is always very nice and accommodating.

I was at a birthday party with six people at this restaurant last Friday. It wasn't my first visit here. My special recommendation is the eggplant with the saffron rice. I also really liked the dessert. All in all a very popular shop so you should definitely make a reservation.

Unfortunately disappointing. Meat today was just mediocre and burnt We were charged additionally for the starter. (With a 45€ meat platter) Includes dips, usually (even in the past) always included. I'm generally a fan of the restaurant & the cuisine is great. However, I get disappointed every now and then: - Food slightly burnt - Dips & bread charged extra - neither before nor after - no sincere thanks / recognition for tips that are customary in the industry Bottom line: Unsatisfactory - I won't be coming back for now!

The restaurant is very nicely done and the service is also top. It is modern with an oriental touch. And so is the food. Traditional combined with modern. We tried things out and ordered a lot of food. The grill plate for two was definitely recommended. The meat was tasty and authentic. In my opinion, only Qabuli could taste more intense. Mantu, ashak and ash were not as we know them from Afghan cuisine. The sauce over ashak was very tomato paste heavy.

First time eating Afghanistan cuisine and what an experience it was. We shared the 2 person platter which was just excellent. The rice was cooked perfectly and plenty of it too!! I will definitely be back on my next visit.

Super Service, frisch & Lecker!

Spontaner Besuch und ein absoluter Volltreffer. Die Portionen sind verhältnismäßig zu anderen lokalen schon groß. Alles frisch mit guten Toppings im Salat wie zb. Erdbeer, Grantapfel und Drachenfrucht Stücke. Gönnt euch den Laden wer ein Hauch kulinarische Küche probieren möchte.

Ich muß ganz ehrlich sagen, dass dieses Restaurant hervorragend ist. Ich bin durch Zufall drauf gestoßen und wir haben es nicht bereut. Von sehr gutem Essen bis Klasse Service und spitzen Preise. Sowas hat man nicht mehr so oft. Das Restaurant ist gemütlich und stilvoll eingerichtet. Die Bewertungen hier sind mehr als wahr!

Wir wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt und super beraten. Der Service ist klasse. Wir kannten afghanisches Essen bisher nicht und waren sehr positiv überrascht. Es war super lecker. Die Preise für das Essen sind angemessen. Die Preise für einige Getränke könnten etwas günstiger sein. Aber das Gesamtpaket hat überzeugt. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Getränke waren leer und man wurde proaktiv angesprochen, ob man noch etwas bestellen möchte 4. Essen so was von lecker. Einfach grandios! 5. Bitte um Bezahlung...sofort gekommen Hammer!!!

Sehr leckeres Essen, sehr nette und aufmerksame Bedienung. Geschmacklich ein Traum. Auch die Anrichtung der Gerichte ist sehr ansprechend. Alles in allem ein tolles Erlebnis. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Leider war das Essen recht schnell kalt und das Fleisch ein wenig zäh. Der Beilagensalat allerdings super: gutes Dressing und die Früchte/Nüsse darin eine prima Idee. Reis & Sauce gut gewürzt. Sehr freundliche Bedienung allerdings hätten wir uns auch gefreut wenn das Teelicht auf dem Tisch angezündet worden wäre.

Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal im Maihan, aber definitiv nicht zum letzten Male ! Bisher hatten wir auf unseren Städtereisen erst einmal die afghanische Küche genießen dürfen, und waren auch heute wieder begeistert von den Geschmacksrichtungen und (k)östlichen Gewürzen. Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich, der Inhaber begrüßt jeden Gast persönlich. Trotz dass wir unsere Reservierung aufgrund der Strassenverhältnissen verpasst haben, wurde unser Tisch >1h für uns bereitgestellt. Wir bekamen zur Begrüßung einen Prosecco, der Service unbeschreiblich gut, trotz vollem Restaurant. Das Essen hervorragend, aromenreich, auf den Punkt zubereitet und mit viel Liebe zum Detail serviert. Wir bekamen, da wir uns nicht entscheiden konnten, ein Essen zum Ausprobieren dazu, meine Tochter noch ein Dessert…. selten so gastfreundlich und herzlich aufgenommen worden. Immer wieder gerne. Wonderful evening with old friends and new at this lovely restaurant. 1 of our group was in a rush to eat and travel home (500km) and they supported him whilst the 3 of us remaining had a relaxed dinner and atmosphere to chat and laugh Great evening lovely staff. Would visit again for sure

Ein wirklich tolles Restaurant mit einer phantastischen Aromenwelt, wenn man Essen mit orientalischem Einschlag mag. Eine Tischreservierung ist dringend empfohlen. Der Service war trotz ausgebuchtem Restaurant sehr aufmerksam, zugewandt und flott. Das Essen ist sehr reichlich. Wir hatten mit zwei Personen die gemischten Vorspeisen, Hacktaschen als Vorspeise und zwei Hauptgerichte und schafften es nicht ganz. Sehr lecker sind auch die Cocktails mit Rosinenlikör! Obwohl der Gastraum relativ eng bestuhlt ist, kann man sich gut unterhalten, ohne dass der Nachbar einen hört. Zu laut fanden wir es ebenfalls nicht. Beim Ambiente ziehe ich einen Stern ab, weil der Toilettenbereich sehr steril ist und nicht den stimmigen Stil des Restaurants widerspiegelt. Aber das ist meckern auf hohem Niveau, wir kommen wieder!

Absolute Empfehlung! Das Maihan war ein toller Besuch. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und lieb. Das Essen war super lecker! Als Vorspeise hatten wir die Mantu Teigtaschen (mega gut gewürzt). Als Hauptspeise gab es den Grillteller, weil wir uns durch verschiedene Sachen durchprobieren wollten. Das hat sich gelohnt (obwohl es schon eine ordentliche Portion war)! Die Dip-Auswahl aus scharfem Chutney, Joghurt-Minz-Dip und Hummus hat echt alle Dip-Freuden erfüllt. Dazu hatten wir noch Spinat und gebratene Auberginen.

Super tolles Restaurant! Essen wird wunderschön präsentiert auf Teller und schmeckt lecker. Das Highlight ist jedoch das herzliche, aufmerksame und grosszügige Personal - die perfekten Gastgeber. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Großartiges Restaurant. Bei allen Gerichten 6.A-D sowie 7.A-D kann man keine Fehler machen. Wir waren mit zwei guten Schweizer Freunden dort zum Essen die von der Freundlichkeit der Bedienung komplett überrascht waren. Ein besonderer Dank gilt Marius und Ali die uns in besonderem Maße mit Ihrer Freundlichkeit und Serviceeinsatz beeindruckt haben. Da ich bereits das 4.Mal dort war, ist für mich inzwischen auch nachhaltig klar, dass es ein super Restaurant ist. Die Popularität ist vollkommen berechtigt. Macht weiter so! :)

Wir wollten mal was anderes ausprobieren und waren etwas unsicher, was uns bei einem afghanischen Restaurant so erwartet. Fazit: Top-Essen, großzügige Portionen, ungewöhnliche Geschmäcker, fixes Personal, faire Preise. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Spontan sind wir in das Maihan gegangen und haben Glück gehabt, ohne Reservierung überhaupt einen Tisch zu bekommen, Danke dafür. Das Essen war phänomenal gut, eine richtige Geschmacksexplosion; wir hatten Gemüsesuppe, Lamm und Mantu-Teigtaschen, alles war sehr gut gewürzt und unglaublich lecker. Dazu ein netter Service (v.a. der Barmann), das war ein sehr schöner Abend. Einziger kleiner Nachteil vielleicht: das Essen kam sehr schnell auf den Tisch, sodass wir nach der Bestellung kaum Zeit hatten, die Atmosphäre des Restaurants zu genießen (und natürlich wissen wir, dass in der Küche vieles vorbereitet ist, aber man könnte dem Gast ja die Illusion lassen, dass frisch gekocht wird....)
