Magic John's Pizza in Berlin

The pizza was amazing 😍 but I would recommend to eat at the place

!!!BEST PIZZA & BEST STAFF in all of Berlin!!! Pizza is always a good choice, which is why I was so keen to try Magic John's on Oranienburger Straße. A nice place that (as far as I can tell) doesn't offer any indoor seating and is more focused on takeout and delivery services. I had the New York Style (thin crust) Truffle pizza, the Sausage & Onion pizza, as well as the two same varieties in the Detroit Style (deep dish) pizza, the Garlic/Miso pizza, and the Cheddar Knots. I can't really say which I liked best, but everything tasted fantastic! If I had to choose, I'd probably go for the New York Style thin crust. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I will definitely try more varieties when I'm back in Berlin! Thank you for everything. Best regards

Both plain pizza slices were quite dry in terms of toppings, and both slices were quite floppy…maybe they'd been sitting under the warming lamp for too long. The staff seemed listless and distant…

This is one of the best places to get American style pizza and specially the thick crust one! I can highly recommend the vodka sauce variant. They have very interesting varieties and gourmet flavours ! Don’t forget the chilli honey 🍯 also get more than less as you will crave more and there is always a line 😉

Good pizza spot! Sadly not all the options available on a friday evening. The NY Style was good, the Detroit Style Spicy Vodka was phenomenal!

There are Detroit and New York-style pizzas. In addition to classic versions, there are also mushroom truffle and jalapeño vodka pizzas. The slices are ready quickly. This is a great pizza place, especially for takeaway.

I saw that they had Detroit style pizza, and got a slice to try it. I picked Okinawa Taco (white sauce, taco meat, mozzarella and ricotta), and I enjoyed it, specially after adding some hot agave. They don’t have seating, but have a counter where you can eat.

Great pizza, customer service like that of the man with the mustache isn't something you experience every day!

Seriously one of the best pizza spots I’ve been to. I wish that my hometown Stockholm had a pizza slice spot like this. We visited this place twice in one day when we were in Berlin. Both the deep dish pizza and the NY style were good, but I think that I preferred the NY (thin) style. I can strongly recommend the Ricotta pizza! Such great flavors. I can’t wait to visit this spot again in the future!

Excellent pizza! Good dough, a selection of special flavors, there is a choice between thick and thin pizza, we tried both and each of them was excellent, the seating is outside on wooden benches, a young atmosphere, highly recommended.

Simple sliced pizza but original variety ; Ricotta, Detroit, vegan pizza with butternut & Zatar. Cute service. 4 to 6.5€ a slice ? Sweet design but no place to seat.

Super delicious NY slice and deep-dish pizzas in the heart of Berlin. Service was also super friendly. Unfortunately, there was limited seating outside, but standing tables would have been great. Always happy to go back.

It's ok for what it is. The Detroit style pizza was good but I wouldn't get the NY style again. It's not really comparable to actual pizza from NYC. Still one of the better pizzas I've had in Berlin. I'd recommend trying once.

I think it's brilliant that you can buy individual slices, and they're all incredibly delicious! They even have pizza with white sauce—everything was absolutely delicious, and you can almost always find a spot to sit around.

Born and raised in New York. If you blindfold me and spin me around 3 times, I couldn’t tell the difference between a slice here or there. Great and worth the price

I literally couldn’t believe how good it was at some points. If you’ve never been to NY or never had the opportunity to try Detroit-style pizza, you don’t have to worry ever again. Just come here. In my opinion, every bit as good as the “real deal”. Don’t forget to add a bit of that hot agave for the classic hot honey touch.

It’s only 4 stars and not 5 because they took out the Okinawa taco out of the slice menu, it used to be my favourite.

Magic John's probably comes much closer to the original New York slice shop experience than any other place. Both in terms of the pizza's taste and the presentation and atmosphere. Berlin's best address for crispy, thin "New York style" and fluffy "Detroit deep-dish" pizza. Simply delicious 🍕♥️

Extremely delicious Detroit-style pizzas – absolutely worth a detour! The pizza impresses with its taste and quality. Dining is only available outside, with a few places to stand and sit, which lends the place a relaxed, street-food feel. (Sorry for the photos of the pizzas that have already been bitten into!)

I’ve been here 3/4 times and each time I had a really good experience. The pizza was always really good ( both the ny style and the Detroit style pizza). I went this last Wednesday and the pizza was completely different. I got a sausage/onion ny slice and a truffle Detroit slice. Both slices were so incredibly salty, but the Detroit slice was so salty I could only take a couple of bites. I really don’t like wasting food, but I really couldn’t eat the pizza. It was the saltiest piece of pizza I’ve ever had. On top of that, the pizza kind of just tasted like school pizza, but with slightly better bread. I really don’t know what happened to this place, maybe a new chef? I really hope it was a fluke. I also hope someone reads this and does a quality check every one in a while. Such a shame, the pizza used to be so good!

Speechless. Great. Massive. Visionary. I don't know how else to describe how good this "pizza" was. Why the quotation marks? Because the word pizza doesn't do justice to this dedication from God that I just inserted into the entrance of my mouth as if it were a... and that from someone like me who loves pizza more than (almost) anything else on this ball of earth. I came there because I wanted a late-night pizza and didn't even know that the man at the counter would be my prophet from now on. I'm still stunned at how damn good this slice of blessing was and would recommend this place to ANYONE. If you hate pizza, you'll wish she was your spouse after this. I must say that I had the Detroit pizza and not the regular one... the regular one will probably be good too BUT THE DETROIT STYLE PIZZA WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. You know that feeling when you're eating a cheese sandwich and you think, "Man, I wish I could just eat the crust"? A Detroit-style pizza fulfills that wish in a warm, incredibly crispy version. And the pepperoni... DAMN IT, GIVE ME MORE OF THAT PEPPERONI!!! I was in the US for two weeks, and the pepperoni was the biggest disappointment of my life... but the pepperoni that Magic John gives you there is AMAZING! Trust me... go see this work of art.

Please speak German with us... Cash is king. There's no need to indirectly beg for tips. Otherwise, it was delicious! Edit: Today the taste was a bit lukewarm. Very boring.

Terrible, dry, burnt, reheated pizza with minimal cheese and pepperoni. You'll be hard-pressed to find worse pizza anywhere.

The Detroit truffle pizza was delicious, loved that they used Asian mushrooms rather than shiitake. Wasn’t as big of a fan of the sausage onion New York style pizza. English speaking friendly staff. Would come back.

Flashback to New York! During my time in New York, I learned to love the famous "99 cent" pizza – that was over 10 years ago, and the very first bite catapulted me back there. 100% authentic New York style, I'll be back regularly!

A nice pizza place for sure unfortunately a very unfriendly and rude cashier this evening not offering any alternatives for a box and trying to charge extras. Seemed to be clearly unexperienced in customer service - pity that this ruins the image and kept me from buying pizza here.. so better assess well who you recruit four your hubs.

Nice people for sure. I however took a gluten free slice for 6,50€ so not cheap. I let you judge the ridiculous proportion of topping compared to the dough. An extra thin layer on 90% dough. Granted this dough tested good but it’s shameless really. See the pics. I hope they’ll improve and be fairer.

Good pizza, and it's great that you can add a little extra seasoning afterward. You can only pay by card, and the small takeaway box costs €0.30; otherwise, you get a paper plate to eat on. There's no real seating available. The value for money is absolutely fine.

Perhaps a little bit expensive, in my opinion, but the quality almost certainly justifies the price. I had 4 different slices and they were all meticulously put together, the toppings were exquisite and they sure were aplenty. The pizzas were simply bursting with flavor in every bite. The texture was also excellent, very light and fluffy in the middle and the undercarriage - crispy, baked off to perfection with the crispy, charred cheese on the sides. Such a pleasant experience eating a proper Detroit style pizza in Berlin, I will surely come back to try what the NY style is like.

Best damn slice pizza in Berlin, and yes, I try all of them. They serve on the side of the road, so the atmosphere is actually very good considering - with music and view of am Tacheles, plus plenty of places to sit.

Hands down, the best pizza I’ve had in Berlin, or for that matter, east of Manhattan. So bloody delicious.

The saleswoman was very nice, but the other employees were irritated and a bit arrogant. There are no cups or cutlery for the giant pizza slices. The pizza is overpriced for the quality, and there's zero consideration for older people. The salespeople can't say anything about the pizzas except what toppings they have. I had a bad Margherita for the first time in my life, and the pizzas are just heated up, pre-baked. So, if you're looking for truly good pizza like you'd get at an Italian restaurant, don't go here. For anyone else who's happy with less for more, enjoy your meal.

I didn't take a lot of pictures, but Detroit is really delicious!!!! The truffle and spicy vodka(?) are both super delicious. I got it to-go and ate it when I got home, but it was a lot cold, but it was still really delicious.

I reqlly enjoyed the deep dish. It was tasty, but there wasn't proper space to seat, just a few benches.

It's not only one of if not THE best pizza in Berlin, the people working there are also super nice. Please make sure to leave a big Tip!

Ok sorry to be that guy but this place is the biggest scam please just don’t even waste your time or money. The pizza is 1mm thin - hardly more than a piece of paper. The knots have nothing but oil on them when they used to be really garlicky and full of cheese.

Okay – I've been waiting for this – when will it get more expensive! Ahhh, today – it's just a shame that with 50 cents more per slice, there are even fewer olives on it! Well, luckily there's good pizza elsewhere! Thanks for the last few years! From now on, no more than me! All the best!

Solid pizza, had the spicy vodka slice. It’s quite popular and tasted like a NY slice. Nothing cray tho, but probs good for people that like pizza.

Really, really good pizzas! You'll definitely be more hungry than you think here 😉 Unfortunately, the outdoor area is pretty uninviting. So it's better to take pizzas to go and make yourself comfortable in the Tacheles courtyard across the street.

Love this Pizza for alternative tastes and great streetfood vibes. Great alternative to Italian-style pizza that is most common. Thick and thin options are present.Sold by the slice which is convenient. My favourite is sweet potato+tahini and truffle pizza. No indoor sitting,”bite-and-go” format with sitting boxes by the window.

Delicious. While I also love the more “traditional” type of pizza, I had been craving a Detroit style slice for a long time. This place definitely hit the spot. Loved it.

I had orderd Deep Dish Riccota Pizza and New York style Spicy Vodka Pizza. Both the pizza's tasted divine! I must say this is one of the best pizza's I have ever had in Berlin! Prices for one slice range between 3€ - 5.5€ though it seems expensive I think it is worth the quality. The only downside is there is only outdoor seating. I would definitely go back for more pizza!

Spicy Vodka deep dish Pizza 12/10!

It was a bit expensive but I was curious about Chicago style deep dish pizza, it was always good. All the varieties were very delicious and the staff was very sweet.

An interesting takeaway concept with fair prices and delicious pizza. Finally, not Napoleonic but New York style, where the pizza is served in your hand. You're more likely to buy slices here. There's a 50 cent surcharge for a box, which is perfectly acceptable. The price per piece is around €3-5, depending on the flavor. You order directly at the window.

Pretty good music, the seating was a bit limited but the pizza and the honey sauce was very good. Also it was like 3€/4€ for each slice. The onion and sausage was SO good

Perfect spot for quick and delicious pizza to go! They offer both classic thin-crust pizzas and pizzas with thick crusts. I had a classic olive pizza slice fresh from the oven for €3.50!

The pizza is really tasty, and I really like the fact that they re-heat the pieces. The truffle one and the vegan one really stood out. However, it's kinda overpriced, and there aren't any stands or small tables to enjoy your hot pizza (except if the place next to it is closed 😅 )

Delicious pizza, best eaten right away

we were there twice. Once NY style and once Detroit style. Both times the quality was very good and we enjoyed it very much. The prices were okay too.

Ordered delivery - pizza was mediocre. The truffle pizza had zero truffle flavor, and the pepperoni pizza was way too greasy. They also forgot my drinks. Pretty disappointing. Won't order again.

Unfortunately I couldn't take a picture because I ate it too quickly. But it was 10/10 delicious!

Great Pizza but the woman serving pizza needs to learn some manners. I walked up when my number arrived asking for the missing things in my order, and the woman asked me thrice - "Can't you read numbers? Can't you read?" Not sure why. Perhaps she should learn how to "read" the order.
