I was happy to leave a tip, but then I felt pushed to give more. The food was really good, but if tipping gets forced like that,I think I’d never want to come back.

It was a lovely evening at Madame Mei's. The food was delicious, albeit expensive. The staff was friendly. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and has that certain something that makes it feel inviting.

The shrimp dumplings here are seriously so good!🍤🦐The shrimp is huge, super fresh, and the texture is just perfect. But, the Dong Po Pork was a total miss. The meat was really tough and chewy, that neither my friend nor I could even finish a single piece…. The fried rice was pretty good though, mostly because of the shrimp. Next time, I’m just sticking with the dumplings and trying more varieties of those! (Total 76.6)

One of the most beautiful Chinese restaurants I have ever visited. The atmosphere is authentic, the decoration is not at all excessive. The service was excellent. Thinking and missing Chinese dim sum since we left country 14 days ago. Found this Chinese restaurant and food was as good as it is back home. Nicely decorated as well.

The food is not tasty and expensive. The waitress's behavior is a bit strange... She even asked for a tip... I won't go there again.

The food was unfortunately quite average. Poor value for money – very expensive for small portions. Most of the staff did not speak English, which made communication a bit difficult. However, the place was nicely decorated and felt a bit homely.

We celebrated our anniversary at Madame Mei, and all of our guests as well as ourselves enjoyed the evening very much. Both the food and the service were fantastic, we can highly recommend Madame Mei and are looking forward to visiting again. It was great that we had a separate room, with lovely decorations, for the entirety of the evening. Staff were excellent, very polite and efficient.

My family is here for dinner for the first time. We received a very friendly welcome and were escorted to our table. Other guests were welcomed and reserved tables by phone. For the food: we ordered three different dim sum (steamed dishes). Very delicious! We ordered two main courses for three big eaters, with two portions of plain rice. It was enough for us. Next time we'll just order one portion of rice. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try dessert because we were so full. I also recommend this small restaurant for romantic dates. As a family, we experienced great service. We were served quickly. Overall, the team was very attentive! My chopsticks dropped, and without asking, I was given replacements right away. My daughter also got her own children's bowl.

I was asked several times why I didn't tip and in the end I was even asked to give at least 10%... even though the food is already so expensive :(

A very pleasant restaurant. Delicious food, a friendly and comfortable atmosphere, and a wide selection of dishes. You can sit both inside and outside. We especially liked how the tea was prepared for us! The staff regularly checked how much water was left. The food arrived fairly quickly. This was my first time at Madame Mei, and I'm absolutely thrilled! The portions were really generous and served on a small tealight holder with a candle, so the food stayed pleasantly warm the whole time. I especially liked that the dishes were designed to be shared, perfect for enjoying together. Everyone at the table also received their own plate and small bowl, which I found really thoughtful and practical. Overall, a very pleasant surprise. I'll definitely be back!

They offer almost every kind of Hong Kong-style dim sum you can think of. Although the restaurant is not very spacious, the decor is cozy and comfortable. Each dish is served on a little mat, which gives it a refined and elegant touch. The xiao long bao are juicy, with thin wrappers and generous fillings. The seaweed shrimp rolls are absolutely delicious—the seaweed is super crispy and pairs perfectly with the sweet sauce. It does get a bit stuffy inside during the summer, but overall the experience is pleasant and the prices are moderately high. Recommended!

I was in Frankfurt for work with some colleagues and we came here for dinner. Amazing Dim Sum experience. We did have a Chinese colleague with us who ordered a selection :) I highly recommend this place!

Restaurant is one of the better Chinese restaurants, although it offers more Cantonese cuisine.

Madame Mei offers authentic Chinese cuisine. Sharing different dishes is a particularly good option for starters and main courses. We particularly recommend the steamed shrimp dumplings, the xiao long bao (soup dumplings), and the dumplings with peanuts, pork, and vegetables. The special cucumber salad is also tempting, with its crisp and perfectly seasoned cucumber pieces. For the main course, the Cantonese-style duck is a truly excellent choice, as is the Shanghai-style duck. The restaurant offers both indoor and courtyard seating. Reservations are recommended, as it gets very busy in the evenings, even during the week. Unfortunately, service is a bit hectic, and the noise level can be a bit too loud.

Update, four years later: I've been to Madame Mei several more times over the years. The food is still first-class, authentic, but the prices are simply too high these days. I think €10 for half a liter of non-alcoholic drink is a rip-off; at more than €30 for a main course, I expect finer, more upscale quality; the dim sum is even more expensive. Justifying such a pricing policy with authenticity isn't enough. The service in restaurants in this price range, for example, is better, the plates are more beautifully presented, etc. ||| My original review from 2021: It was recommended to me by a Chinese friend - the dim sum is truly first-class, authentic, and delicious! Absolutely overpriced (drinks and food) and poor quality! Service was mediocre. I had steamed duck with rice (35eur): the meat was full of bones, basically without meat. The portion of rice was not included in the meat and I needed to order it on top. I won't never come back to this place!

Came here for lunch with my friend and for those who are craving for chinese food or singapore malaysian food.. this place is worth every DOLLAR N CENTS to come.. reasonable price with the portion given was really impress with the truffle prawn fried rice and the white wine recommended by staff goes so well with it!

The standard of food has dropped but the price has risen a lot. Food from lunch menu is disappointing. We used to be a regular but now we might not want to go there so often. Dumpligs are still nice.

Ich hatte sehr hohe Erwartungen, angesichts der Bewertungen, aber ich war enttäuscht. In meinem Nudeln mit Gemüse und Huhn war das Huhn trocken und schmeckt schlecht. Es schien am Vortag gekocht und dann aufgewärmt worden zu sein! Tatsächlich habe ich das ganze Fleisch auf dem Teller gelassen, aber der Kellner hat mich nicht einmal gefragt, warum ich das Fleisch verlassen habe! Ich werde nicht zurück.

Hemos estado cenando en este restaurante durante unos años. El precio ha subido bastante recientemente, pero el estándar definitivamente ha bajado. El almuerzo es peor y la comida es un poco como la comida rápida. Las bolitas siguen bien. El servicio es bueno, pero en general estaba pensando si nos molestamos en volver.

Went every Chinese New Year to celebrate since 2021. Super authentic Malaysian-Chinese foods. No complains at all towards the food nor staff. They are very attentive and fast in serving. Of course, price is on a higher side but you don't get much authentic good Chinese foods around. Even my colleagues love the food here and asking me to plan for another dinner here again!

When we came in it was a pleasant atmosphere at first glance. It took a while until we were given a table even though we were obviously all served. The conditions were also rather unfavorable to us. The food is completely OVERPRICED and hardly tastes like anything…. We would advise against it.

Very nice restaurant. The food was delicious. It was very authentic Cantonese, and it reminds me of when I was back home in Hong Kong. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone trying Cantonese food.

I almost never write reviews, but since I can't understand why this great store only has an average rating of 4.0, I'll change that. We had a spontaneous meal here yesterday. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating. The dishes all tasted fantastic (we had several steamed dishes, a starter and a main course). The prices are reasonable for Frankfurt. We'll definitely be back.

Lunch M5 zum Abholen fürs Büro Große Enttäuschung! bretthartes, blasses Rindfleisch ( Szechuan geht definitiv anders). Alleine optisch eine 5! "Geschmack" nicht besser. Absolut nichts sagend. Dazu eine handvoll Reis ( Kindertellerniveau). Muß man inzwischen am Reis sparen? Wenigstens war das Gemüse in Ordnung. Knackig und frisch. To sum it up: ich habe nur den Reis mit Gemüse und der Soße gegessen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, aber ich wollte eigentlich etwas ansprechendes zum Essen bekommen. No value for money. In den ersten Jahren nach Eröffnung hatte das Essen ein ganz anderes Niveau. Jetzt nicht mehr erwähnenswert ( leider).

Below average food and completely exorbitant prices, especially for drinks. Rice sticky and burnt, Coke without carbonation. Not particularly large portions. Service took forever but was nice. The only advantage: plenty of space for large groups. There are much better alternatives nearby!

The food is great! Xiao Long Bao is my favorite here and also the fried rice is heavenly! It is a bit expensive but for food of that quality i dont mind. Peking Duck seem to ve popular but i never tried it before. Char Sieu and Water Spinach is also hella good here

The food is okay, but the attitude of the waiters is very bad. He kept talking back to the customer, and in the end he didn't give a tip. The waiter asked for it directly, and finally changed his face.

Here you can get good Asian dishes that are well prepared and easy to digest. Is recommended, for my friends it was also good and tasteful.

The three of us spontaneously ate here in the restaurant yesterday and were unfortunately very disappointed. What bothered us the most were the completely exorbitant prices. Almost all of the main courses cost at least over 20€, my duck even cost over 30€ and with all the main courses you even have to order rice for 3€ in order to be served a complete dish! “Homemade” lime lemonade (made up of 2/3 ice cubes) is also priced at over €9. If the quality is good, I'm happy to pay more, but the food was on the same level or worse than other Chinese restaurants where you get the same thing for half the money. Furthermore, the service was very hectic and did little to create a cozy atmosphere. Conclusion: It is better to spend your culinary evening at the many other good Chinese restaurants in Frankfurt. Madame Mei, NEVER AGAIN!

Wir hatten reserviert, wurden platziert und dann lange Zeit nicht mehr beachtet. Irgendwann gelang es uns, die Aufmerksamkeit der Servicekraft zu erhalten und konnten bestellen. Das in der Küche tätige Team aus Hellsehern und Zauberern muss unsere Wahl lange im Voraus erahnt und so passend vorbereitet haben, dass alles wenige Minuten nach der Bestellung serviert wurde. Anders ist diese Geschwindigkeit in einem Restaurant in dem alle Gerichte frisch zubereitet werden, nicht erklärbar. Bei den Vorspeisen funktionierte das System: wir bekamen leckere, heiße und pikant gewürzte Dim Sum. Dafür waren die beiden Hauptgänge peinliche Totalschäden: in Sesamöl ertränkte Garnelen, fettige gebratene Nudeln, völlig versalzenes Sesamhuhn. Sehr teures, sehr schlechtes Essen in enger und lauter Umgebung … das tun wir uns nicht wieder an.

After we were seated, the service staff suddenly lost all interest in us. And this is how it continued after we were rediscovered and were able to order: The starters, various delicious dim sums, were at the table much too quickly for the fact that they were advertised as being freshly prepared. This also applied to the two main courses. The person cooking had guessed that we were craving oily shrimp, greasy fried noodles and completely over-salted sesame chicken. Expensive, bad food in a cramped and noisy atmosphere. I don't have to repeat it.

In our eyes it was perfect! So good that we went back on the second day! Our dog was also very welcome!!! 👍

We made a reservation in advance, we came as a group, after the meal, i made the payment, gave them a fair tip. After i made the payment, the lady immediately came and kicked us out, while we were still enjoying our beer. We were there for barely 1.5 hours. She was rude, definitely a disappointment!

Attention, rice is charged an additional €3 for the menu and we recommend checking the bill (the menu was double). Prices are very high in themselves! The tip is automatically charged at 10%.

Update from January 31, 2025: We ate again at Madame Mei's today. The restaurant was very full and we still managed to get a nice seat at 9:30 p.m. The service and the food were again excellent: we had a selection of dim sum, a very good cucumber salad, water spinach (absolute recommendation) and the duck Canton style with bone (definitely take it with bone - the skin is crispier and the meat is juicier, either difficult to eat). We had a great evening. There will definitely be a third visit. ———————————— The two of us came here without a reservation. We were greeted very friendly and given a nice place. The restaurant is very stylishly furnished and you immediately feel at home - and you don't sit too close to other guests, which further increases the coziness. We ate dim sum twice as a starter and duck and water spinach as the main course. Everything tasted excellent. Very authentically Chinese (as far as I can tell). I'm definitely looking forward to our next visit.

Früher konnte man hier erstklassig Essen, zwar etwas teuer, aber von guter Qualität und Geschmack. Davon ist leider rein gar nichts übrig geblieben. Wir hatten Gerüchte mit Hähnchen und Rindfleisch, alle nach Sichuan Art. Als Vorspeise gab es Dim Sum. Die Teigtaschen sind bestenfalls aus der Kühltruhe vom Asiamarket. Hier erwartet man mehr. Da könnte der Hauptgang ja nur besser werden, dachten wir jedenfalls. Leider wurden wir eines Besseren lehrt. Bekommen haben wir etwas mit undefinierbarer Sosse, völlig überzuckert, gänzlich ohne die typischen Aromen der Sichuan Küche. Einfach enttäuschend. Aber immerhin war die Bedienung sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Alles in allem eine Erfahrung die niemand braucht und die wir hier auch mit Sicherheit nicht mehr machen werden.

I love dim sum and all the different delicacies that are available here. If you enjoy trying different dumplings together, Madame Mei is the right place for you. The selection is huge - whether with fish, meat or vegetarian - and the variety of flavors amazes me every time! 🍽 Main dishes for every taste The main courses are also consistently delicious. Duck fans in particular will get their money's worth here, but there are also great dishes with chicken, shrimp or purely vegetarian options. 💡 My tip: Try the Buddhist fasting dish (M4) with crispy chicken as a topping at lunchtime – a really great combination! 🍡 Sweet ending The sweet dumplings as a dessert are highly recommended. 🍵 Enjoy tea & a cozy atmosphere The restaurant is very comfortably furnished. As a drink, I can highly recommend green tea, which is served in a classic tea service - and if you want, you can add hot water. 📍 Seating tips & reservation I recommend that you make a reservation in advance, whether for lunch or dinner. 🔹 Best seating area: The back area inside is pleasantly quiet and cozy. 🔹 The upper floor is also a nice option. 🔹 There is a covered and heated terrace outside, but it can get uncomfortable there when the temperatures are cool. ✨ My conclusion: For me, Madame Mei is a real highlight when it comes to dim sum! But even those who don't like dumplings will be happy with the excellently prepared main dishes. Clear recommendation! 🙌🏼

We spontaneously ate here on a Friday evening because it was recommended to us. Super nice welcome with a huge smile, large portions (which was accompanied by a really sweet comment that you would like to see your guests full) and delicious, authentic food. Taste wise a 10/10. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My questions about the starters were answered very kindly and the waiter gave us honest advice. We felt completely comfortable. Happy to come back <3

Very good, warm service, delicious food

The food was pretty good, but unfortunately the attitude of the Asian waitress in the store was really bad (I guess she is Asian because she doesn't seem to speak Chinese, and her German isn't very good either). At first, after I finished eating, I asked someone to refill the water, but he didn't. I went to the boss at the counter. The boss was very enthusiastic and quickly helped me refill the water. As soon as the water glass was filled with water, the waitress came to chase me away. The reason was that there were other people in the store. Guests are waiting. This situation is understandable, and I am usually willing to cooperate, but I don't dare to compliment him when he looks like he is driving away customers. His attitude is really bad. In the end, I got angry and left without leaving a tip. I really couldn't find any reason to leave a tip. Such a bad waiter was already off-putting. (ps: The attitude of the Cantonese-speaking boss and landlady in the store is still very good. I'm sorry but you really need to improve the service level, especially in the area near the door.)

Delicious food but we have to pay an extra 10% tip from an employee, wow I'm surprised that for the first time in Germany there is a certain amount of tip.

Unfortunately, the service and meal planning has declined significantly: my food arrived long before my partner's and was told "we'll serve it beforehand". As usual, this was neither asked when ordering nor did it make sense because it was a main course. Vegetables also came later, being declared as a side dish when ordering my meal. Food was good, sitting upstairs is now more like a dining room and excuses are not appropriate given the high price for an Asian. We were here often… what a shame

We had an outstanding experience with friends at the restaurant. We tried four diverse main dishes and two appetizers. The food was remarkable. It was well-cooked and well-seasoned with plentiful portions. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They made us feel at home. We will certainly go back the next time we want Chinese food.

Ate dim sum on a recommendation. Was great. The fact that we were sitting in a covered courtyard was unexpected. Lots of Asian crowd, most of them didn't finish their menu - we were one of the few who left the restaurant without a doggy bag. Follow the lead of the trained service.
