Unfortunate visit – unpleasant approach with the group We were there with six people and were treated very unfriendly. We were directly indicated that we would be unsuspecting – by the way, there seems to be no room for it, we would “make chaos” and “make the barn collapse” just because we wanted to put a handy stool on it. The gardens were quiet, but the tone and style, as it turned out with us, were anything but customer friendly. I had the feeling that the groups were basically unwelcome or that the staff was overwhelmed. Damage – we had the barn left again, without anything to order. Under these circumstances I can't recommend a visit unfortunately. Unfortunately, a disappointing experience – unkind treatment towards groups We went to the place in a group of six and were treated in a very unkind manner. From the outset we were made to understand that we were not welcome, with comments such as “no space”, that we would “make a mess” and that we were going to “damage the venue”, just by wanting to add one more chair. It is true that the place was packed, but the tone and manner in which we were treated was all the less kind. It gives the impression that groups are not welcome or that staff is clearly overwhelmed. A pity – we went without consuming anything. Under these conditions, I cannot recommend this site.

Yesterday, we were completely abused by the bartender. All because he made a mistake with the €4 difference in change and didn't want to admit it. After the altercation, he passed by our table while we were trying to enjoy the night and commented, "Oh, are you still here?" Unnecessarily. He blew us kisses from afar, while working from inside. All because of a poorly made change? When we left, he said a sarcastic goodbye from afar, and we had to confront him, obviously, after putting up with him all night without us having done ANYTHING!! Completely crazy. How can it be that I go to a bar with friends and some of the staff behave like this with their customers? What kind of business is this? Going to a bar for a drink and having the bartender mistreat us like that? What did we do wrong? Demand our change? What's the problem? Is it necessary to harass us all night after that?

The best arepas I have ever tried. Relaxed Ambiente . Fair price.

Latin bar and cafe on Boxhanger Platz in Friedrichshain that gave a couple of weary tourists a punchy high-caffeine Tiger Dirty Chai combo to gear them up for more sightseeing. There’s outdoor seating, but also plenty of comfy indoor seating and sofa areas. The Latin music works well with the decor and ambience and the piano in the corner makes us want to return for when they’re offering live music in the evenings

I went there because I was looking for Colombian food and I have to admit that I was surprised after eating the whole food because it was very good.

The wait staff aren't very friendly, and the food is so-so. The place is very nice and well decorated.

Really bad place. The service is bad and rude - they shouldn't be working there at all. Don't waste your money here. If you're expecting something Latin American, this is not the place. There is another Latin American place just 2 minutes away.

Macondo is simply spectacular. From the moment you enter, the atmosphere envelops you with its unique and welcoming vibe. But what really makes it stand out is its incredible michelada, hands down the best I've ever had and a delicious meal that leaves you wanting to come back. Each dish is full of flavor and prepared with great care. An unmissable place to enjoy with friends or relax!

We truly enjoyed our time here. First of all, the cozy ambiance makes everything feel so inviting, and the sofas create a wonderfully homey atmosphere. The background music is just lovely, perfectly balanced—not too loud, just right. The selection of cocktails and drinks is fantastic. We indulged in beef and chicken nachos, along with empanadas filled with spinach and meat. Honestly, these were the most delicious empanadas and nachos we've ever tasted. We absolutely cannot wait to return here!

I enjoy coming to Macondo for the atmosphere. Its calm, but yet with the vibrant energy of people in the room. I would suggest it is a nice location to grab a beer with a friend. I have tried their empanadas and they are amazing. I saw on the menu there is also gluten free beer.

Very good indeed! My daughter and I were well attended to the whole time. I even spoke Portuguese with the attendant and she was very friendly. I took the opportunity to talk about Macondo, an excellent reference to the book One Hundred Years of Solitude (Gabriel Garcia Márquez)

Very cozy place for a drink! My partner and I went for drinks after dinner and we had a very enjoyable time. Service was great, and the drinks were decent. The atmosphere is very cosy with cute chairs and the music was very fitting, aiding the atmosphere.

We went this afternoon. We tried the Colombian empanadas; shredded meat, chicken and potato with hogao. The dough for the empanadas was delicious and the pico de gallo that accompanied them was also very good, barely spicy. A delight!! The place was full, in fact we saw that several people wanted to enter but since there were no tables available they left 🥴 the restaurant is not very big but it is worth waiting a while for a table. I would come back :)

Macondo in Berlin-Friedrichshain is a hidden gem for Colombian cuisine! Their arepas are absolutely delicious, and the cocktails are impressively strong. The vibrant and stylish interior adds to the perfect atmosphere for a night out. Highly recommended!

very nice, pleasant and accidentally found place to stay longer, eat, drink and let yourself work. very friendly and competent service. Food tasted very good. We are already looking forward to the next meal. Recommendation

I've been going to Macondo for almost 14 years. Firstly, I find it very cozy and familiar - I feel like I'm at home. The Macondo has gone through different phases, but has always developed positively. I can really recommend it: everything from the drinks to the food is prepared with passion. Anyone who says otherwise unfortunately doesn't really know the people who work there and put their heart and soul into it. There’s also live music with piano – that’s absolutely amazing!

It used to be my favorite bar in Berlin. Food and cocktails are very nice. The service has gotten sadly reaaally bad the last two years. Quiet unfriendly and sloppy. Last time I sat there with my friends for half an hour and we were just ignored by the waiter, so we Left. I guess they can afford losing clients. What a shame!

A must have at Boxi! The family atmosphere is magical. We feel so well looked after here and the old upholstered furniture is incredibly comfortable to sit on. This makes it easy to forget the time. Anyone who appreciates the special Colombian influence will love the drinks and the atmosphere here. The drinks are special and therefore take time. You have to accept a bit of a wait here, but it's worth it.

The food was delicious 😋 the breakfast of arepa with eggs pericos and the chocolate was very good! The only thing I would recommend is that upon arrival clients receive them with a warm greeting :)

The best Latin food in Berlin. It took me a while to find it, the information of its existence came to me late. I am Venezuelan in Berlin and I am a food lover from my continent. This place is THE BEST. The tasting tray is one of my passions now. I am Addicted. 100 points!

Right next to Boxi Platz, great place to chill and have a drink. We had brunch on the weekend here, the chilaquiles with chicken was amazing. I had some issues with the first plate, they fixed it right away and prepared a new plate with extra chicken for me.

The Colombian owner was super disrespectful. He insulted us by shouting even though we just wanted to have something in his restaurant.

On a hot summer evening, we made a reservation for 5 at Macondo. It was around 8pm when we arrived and the barmaid showed us our table in a very friendly manner. To our surprise it wasn’t a regular table, but 3 sofa’s with a large coffee table in between, super cosy! We started with some cocktails, which were all skilfully made and tasted great. Following up we ordered nachos’s and a large fingerfood plate containing empanada’s, some sort of fries, fried banana and a whole lot more. A lot of it was fried and a bit greasy but it all tasted great. I especially liked the empanada with meat. We ended the night with some arepas, which are like Mexican pitas. There was a lot of choice in toppings, so we took a few different ones. The ones with meat were all stacked, definitely great for its price. The beef one tasted the best, followed by the chicken (most refreshing one after a warm day) and the one with pork (very nice sweet potato filling, would work great in winter). We had a great time at Macondo and will definitely be back for cocktails & fingerfood!
