From the moment I walked in, the service was nothing short of exceptionally friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The staff took the time to explain the menu in detail and even offered thoughtful suggestions that perfectly matched my preferences. I ordered the vegetarian thali, and every curry was bursting with flavor. I usually enjoy my food quite spicy, and they were more than happy to make adjustments. As someone visiting Germany, I honestly wasn’t sure I’d find a place that could match the authentic taste I’m used to, but this restaurant truly exceeded my expectations. The food, the service, and the overall experience were simply outstanding. If you’re looking for authentic flavors and exceptional hospitality, this place is an absolute gem, a must-visit!

We had a truly delicious Indian meal here. There's a wide selection of vegan dishes. I opted for the combination of four different vegan dishes, including rice, bread, papadums, AND dessert, for €17.90. While the four dishes look very similar, each one is a flavor explosion in its own way. The drinks (lemonade and tea) also seemed homemade and came in generous quantities. Highly recommended—I'll be back!! :)

Wonderfully themed restaurant with food that tastes truly spectacular. The inclusion of small but powerful ingredients like raisins in the biryani elevates the food to a taste making the food worth every euro. The service is the cherry on top, wonderful owner! Greatly recommended.

We went there for evening snacks and they were totally worth it. Both mango lassi and samosa chaat is fantastic. The service and ambience is also good. I deducted one star as I also ordered food from the restaurant so msinly non-veg and that was not very authentic. It could be that veg food is better than non veg here

Highly recommend Maaji if you're looking for a curry - one of the best we've had. The menu has a vast amount of options, specifically indicating vegetarian/vegan dishes. The staff are friendly and can also speak English and offer an English menu. We had the tofu masala, aloo saag, garlic naan, and two mango juices, plus a small complimentary mango dessert each for €42. We would definitely go back again - thank you!

We discovered Pakistani cuisine and we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is soothing, the service respectful and the dishes fresh and delicious.... try the lemonade with 🍉 it's to die for, dishes based on lentils and meat, a treat... and add a hawla and guji dessert.....to finish on a sweet and balanced note.

You order naan and say no rice, but you still get rice. Taste-wise, it's the worst Indian restaurant in Freiburg. The paneer tasted a lot like Emmental cheese, and the lassi was watery. Not recommended, especially for the price. But the service is friendly.

The only negative thing about the food for me is cilantro, it's in almost all the dishes, and I can't stand it. I saw reviews about small portions, I don't know, we couldn't eat everything, we didn't even drink coffee, there was no room left...

We ordered food here via Lieferando. It was well packaged and still warm. The food was delicious, and there's a good vegan selection, which is also clearly labeled. Unfortunately, the naan was more like a chapati than a nan. The dishes marked as spicy weren't as spicy as we expected. However, it was too spicy for the average German. So, if you can eat spicy food, it's only mildly spicy, but still tasty. The delivery person was nice and suggested we order via the website next time, because Lieferando is expensive for them. But without Lieferando, we wouldn't have found them in the first place. We'll order via the website next time. We'll definitely stop by the restaurant sometime.

The began ka bharta and chilly tofu was flavorful and had just the right amount of spice, and the garlic and cheese naan was soft, fresh, and addictive. Service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. If you are looking for authentic Indian cuisine with a touch of elegance and heart, this is the place to go. After an year I am visiting this place and defiantly things has changed! We ordered Samosa chat and Aloo(potato) chat, and we were served with some sort of curry based dish. I cannot comment on other food. But the bowl of food served for us is defiantly not CHAT!

Top-notch service and ambiance. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a variety of aromas. Unfortunately, the food (tikka masala, butter chicken) was a bit bland. When I go to an Indian restaurant, I want a flavor explosion. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Maybe we were just unlucky. Or maybe it's too closely aligned with German cuisine. I would have also preferred some naan as an appetizer. But they did offer a mango dessert on the house.

I've been a regular at least weekly at "Meinem Maaji" since 2023. Delicious food, a wide selection, friendly service, indoor and outdoor seating, and the Betzenhauser Torplatz tram line allows for car-free access.

The food is very good. We eat there often. Friendly, competent staff, fast service. Portions are filling. Even better is the ice cream parlor "Da Bacio" next door; we go there several times a week; the delicious homemade ice cream is delicious.

Average food and friendly service. The food is pre-prepared and served lukewarm. The rice was pre-heated in the microwave and was soggy. The portions are served on a plate that also contains rice and the food gets cold quickly. In all the Indian restaurants I have eaten at the protein is kept warm in snake pots heated by candles and the rice is served separately. Disappointing given the reviews.

We ordered here and were very satisfied. Super fast, friendly delivery, and the food was very good. The lamb kebab masala is highly recommended and is just the right amount of spice for those who like it spicy.

I usually don't write a review, but I had amazing time there, I ordered a food with lamb, but it came with chicken, a mistake than can happen everywhere, I was absolutely fine to eat, because it was super tasty, but just in order to pay for the food I was eating, I let them know, he came back with a bowl of extra lamb, although I asked him not to and it is not necessary. At the end he charged me for one food with chicken :D super friendly and polite people, making a great middle eastern/Indian vibe in Freiburg 😍 and of course the food was super tasty!
