Lumen in Wiesbaden

Lumen is certainly not a bad restaurant, but it's certainly not a highlight for special occasions either. Rather good mid-range. The service is friendly, and the price is reasonable for the location. We go there less for the food and more for a drink if we're in town anyway. The tea contains fresh herbs, and it's very good.

Unfortunately, the service was completely overwhelmed.

My favorite place to be in Wiesbaden. Whether for a coffee or a meal. Unfortunately, the kitchen has been slowing down a lot for the past few weeks. It takes forever, the food is at most lukewarm and the quality is increasingly questionable. Especially from the lunch menu. Here it's really a matter of luck whether it's good or not. The service is always good and friendly, the restaurant is clean and the sanitary facilities are ok. I would like to see an improvement in the kitchen. I'm there almost every week and it's a real shame that it doesn't work that way anymore, especially given the high prices.

Nice place to spend an evening with well-heeled friends. Unfortunately, like almost everywhere in Wiesbaden, the prices are only designed for a very wealthy clientele. The latte I had costs €4.80 and is served in a simple coffee cup and not in a larger one as is usual with lattes. I can rate the fact that there are alternative alternatives for milk to choose from, as well as the service. The staff were very friendly. The other part of the terrace was closed due to damage to the floor. I can't write anything about the dishes on offer. In my opinion, the range exceeds the price-performance ratio.

Ordered 2 tarte flambées, which was really bitter given the high prices. 19€ for a tarte flambée with salmon. Finished dough, dough not baked through. And it arrived cold. The service and the drinks were ok.

Enviable location... After a long walk I decided to have a glass of wine in this place... last time I was on the opposite side of the square and I was very disappointed. The service was attentive and professional..and also friendly. They served me an excellent wine. Perfect temperature and pleasant location.. I saw some nice dishes passing by.. certainly on the next tour I will come to taste some of them

Breakfast Broadway, pancakes were burnt and dry, not fluffy.. the bacon wasn't crispy, very poor performance, fried egg was ok. Unfortunately, I don't give a rating for filling bowls with toast, jam and butter. Nice service, as long as there was no criticism from me about the food...

I was there a few years ago and tried the gluten-free pancakes and they were delicious and had a latte. Very nice staff and a great location right on the market square.

The breakfast menu is varied, but the selection for dinner is quite small. But the food was very good.

Everything is great, but the toilets are in unacceptable condition.

The first restaurant visit in the New Year and good fries but a not so good burger. The meat is a bit warm, too much fat eyes and tendons, more reminiscent of a bratwurst for 23.00.

Be careful mice!!! The waitress was really nice and funny, but we quickly paid and left when we discovered the mice. Once is not once. But previous recessions also report mice, even with video. You have to take action.

Lots of different reviews here. All in all, our breakfast was successful. All food was good. Portions more than sufficient. Highly priced. Service very friendly. Attentive. Location left a clean impression. None of us went to a sanitary facility.

The Lumen is a very pleasant place to stay. Centrally located in the heart of Wiesbaden, it offers plenty of space for many visitors. And yet it is still possible to have conversations without any problems. The selection on the menu ranges from breakfast to lunch, from cocktails to coffee drinks and is therefore more extensive than manageable. However, considering that there should be something for everyone, this is perfectly fine. The service is friendly and provides guests with their orders quickly. We didn't miss anything. The breakfast for which we visited the Lumen is very tasty and sufficient. Unfortunately, the pancakes in the American breakfast didn't quite meet our taste because the maple syrup was used directly in the dough. Here I would prefer it if it were served separately (as well as in the large individual portion). One "problem" that needs to be addressed urgently is the toilets. The smell of the small corridor there alone is reminiscent of a train station toilet - that shouldn't be the case in an atmosphere like the Lumen. Unfortunately, the cleanliness in this case also leaves something to be desired. For my next visit and that of many other guests, I hope that this will be taken to heart and these circumstances will be improved. The Lumen definitely has potential and deserves four stars with “room for improvement” 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Had dinner with 8 people. The service was super nice and attentive! Unfortunately, everyone was disappointed with the menu and the food. The burgers were all cold and the rest wasn't really recommended either. The drinks were very good. The prices are completely exaggerated. The ambience is really nice. The toilet is underground. I've never experienced anything so dirty in a restaurant. Too bad...

It's been a long time since we've been to the Christmas market and Lumen always has a great presentation. Delicious sausage from the swivel grill and Raclette cheese from the wheel. But when will a beef sausage with a roll cost 6 EUR??? This is the most expensive sausage in the area, sorry but no matter how much we enjoyed being here, it's too expensive for us. If it is an organic sausage, at least it will not be advertised that way. By the way, fries cost 5 EUR, which is also pretty steep.

Wish I had taken a photo. I had the Wiener Schnitzel which was great. I had fries with it and they were in a small bowl on the plate and multiple smaller bowls with mayo, ketchup and others. All just crammed together. If I were at an Imbiss I’d eaten them with my fingers but not here for dinner. Food is fine. Service was very good. Presentation was ok.

This was the best dining experience I've had after traveling to Frankfurt, Cologne, Enschede, and Amsterdam for 3 weeks. The food was beautifully presented and you can taste the quality. Claudia was an attentive and accommodating server. She suggested a local Riesling that was amazing. I was disappointed they ran out of fish when I got there so she suggested the fried tofu, which is something I normally don't order as a meat eater. It was SO GOOD! And the whole 3-course meal was only 19 Euro (available until 2:30 PM). I was so happy with my experience I came back again today for lunch. Claudia remembered me from yesterday and knew that I wanted the fish. She also remembered that I preferred my espresso as decaf. She recommended a different local wine, a crisp Sauvignon Blanc, that was a perfect pairing with my fish. This is a must-try restaurant for their high quality beautiful food, outstanding service, and great view. Thank you for your warm hospitality and kindness, Claudia. The Lumen Restaurant offers a modern and stylish atmosphere, ideal for an elegant dinner. The menu is varied and offers a mix of creative international dishes that impress in terms of taste. The portions could also be a bit more generous for the price. Overall, Lumen is an excellent choice for an upscale dinner out in a stylish setting.

When I arrived I wasn't served for 15 minutes and it still took a while for my coffee to be served. After that, no one came to take my food order. After 40 minutes, I just decided to leave, even though the restaurant only had a few customers, and other customers who came after me were served immediately. The ambience is nice, but such poor service, and zero attention! The prices are also quite high: a normal Café Crema cost 4.10 euros. For such a price, better customer service is expected.

Yesterday evening my girlfriend and I visited this restaurant because we liked the cozy location and the full house suggested good food. Unfortunately we were bitterly disappointed. The menu prices are extremely overpriced - suggesting the price level of a luxury restaurant. We ordered a snack platter for two people and were horrified: almost none of it was edible. It seemed like the food was expired, a lot of it tasted like dish soap, and overall we felt like the quality was poor. The mini burgers, which were still frozen, and the falafel, which also tasted like dish soap, were particularly bad. There was also a green sauce that tasted so “broken” as if it had expired. It was one of the worst meals we've ever had - we were really disappointed to have spent so much money on something like that. Another big problem was the three mice that were running around during our visit. This definitely spoiled our appetite. Conclusion: This may be a nice place for drinks, but this restaurant is absolutely not recommended for food. Once and never again!

The food is very tasty and super expensive. You know nothing about milkshakes. Cold milk with vanilla flavor. Bah. Service nice and competent. The ambience has been the same since it opened.

Little to no service, you aren't asked if you want something more to drink, lots of employees who don't feel like it, despite there being fewer guests... dirty toilet, I don't have to go there again!

What should be highlighted is the excellent service and the beautiful ambience.

The atmosphere in the middle of the city is very pleasant, there are tables both inside and outside. We were there with a larger group after work. Service was nice and courteous, drinks always came fairly quickly. Prices are a bit higher (burger or sandwich for €23, schnitzel for €33, 0.5L beer for €5.90), but the food was okay. Sandwich a bit dry and thinly topped, meat in the burger not 100% cooked through, schnitzel very good and the fries seemed fresh

The food and atmosphere were nice, but due to the location the food was very expensive. It's nice, if you can spend the buck, but I believe it's totally unnecessary. I found the food selection (vegetarian) not too interesting.

Today we went to the restaurant and ordered water and food. Unfortunately the water was very warm and the food wasn't fresh. To make matters worse, we saw more than two mice in the restaurant, which was very unhygienic and worrying. On the positive side, the drink I ordered was good, and the waiter was very nice and personable. This experience was very disappointing and unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Rip-off and incompetent management! €10 entry to the public viewing, no consumption included. Average sausage costs €6. Management incapable of organizing fairly and also very unfriendly! Clear recommendation to avoid this location!

EM Public Viewing is falsely or misleadingly advertised on the Internet: €10 entry and €5 consumption voucher. We wanted to take advantage of this offer at yesterday's Germany game (June 19th), but we were only told at the concession stand that this was not valid at Germany games. It's an absolute shame not to write this out (at least in small print)... some guests we spoke to found this lure just as bold. For some people, including us, this was the first and last time in the Lumen!

At the European Championship games you advertise the entrance fee of 10 euros, which includes a consumption voucher of 5 euros. BUT!! For German games you pay €10 without a consumption voucher of €5. You only find out about this when you want to get your first drink. I have no understanding whatsoever!!

I think it's outrageous that an entrance fee of EUR 10 is charged to watch a European Championship game on a large screen (which cannot be offset against food!).

At some point I stopped going here because of the unfriendly boss.

Absolutely Fabulous!! What a View!!!

Not bad, but more appearance than reality

Very good food, not really cheap but that's ok considering the quality. The food comes quickly but not too quickly, I have the impression that it is really freshly made. The service is sometimes a bit slow and sometimes spends a lot of time chatting - but that's ok, most of the service staff are trying hard. Example: We order three cocktails. My friends get both of theirs, I don't get mine. There were a few guests there, but definitely not a rush. After asking twice at the bar, the cocktail arrived, but unfortunately it took so long that a toast was only possible with the glasses only 1/3 full. It can happen, but I will avoid visiting the restaurant if more than a few tables are occupied.

Disaster, the current rating of 3.9 stars is still very good-natured. The service was rude and the food was overpriced. The quality is rather below average, the price doesn't suggest this at the beginning. Simple frozen fries as a burger side dish that have already been served cold (accompanied by unclean dishes) can be mentioned here as an example. In addition, the toilets are in poor hygiene and maintenance condition!!! Not happy again :(

We were very satisfied, food was great and not too much

Out waitress was rude. We had tea and dessert there. I asked for the second cup. The woman brought the second cup but was absolutely impolite telling me they do not provide the second cup. She was very unsatisfied with my small request. But if you already brought the second cup why talking to the quests in such unfriendly tone… she pissed me off. It is just cafe, just tea… and very bad experience There are more other wonderful cafes in Wiesbaden with friendly service.

Tip extortion! Recently in Lumen. The service no longer includes service staff. Not a friendly end to a good meal. No exchange with the service staff. A plastic part on the table for the payment app. And then selecting the tip by percentage. This is a modern form of manipulation. I can understand that in the USA, where minimum wage is often not paid. But in the expensive Lumen?? I'll stay away and give a tip voluntarily.

The restaurant's outdoor dining area is a great place to sit in summer temperatures. The range of dishes is wide-ranging. However, the prices are also impressive. You will be asked to pay €15 for a currywurst with French fries. Although tasty, the price/performance ratio is more than questionable.

Unfortunately the price/performance ratio does not match. The prices are way too expensive for what you get. The main courses all start at just under EUR 17 for Pisa or EUR 32 for schnitzel. I'm clearly missing a culinary policy from the restaurant. There's a little bit of everything. The quality of the food is okay, but there is no taste explosion either. There are better restaurants that specialize in cuisine topics. The service is not outstanding and rather satisfactory, a bit slow and inattentive. It's still nice to sit in the square and relax for a moment with a coffee.

Very unfriendly employees. If you go to this restaurant as a foreign customer, the waiters are not polite and friendly at all.

I spent a great evening at Lumen as part of a company event. From a culinary point of view, the gnocchi with lemon pesto were my highlight - but I also felt completely at home with the modern ambience in the middle of the old town and the very attentive service. Thank you very much!

We had the pleasure of holding our corporate event at this restaurant and I was very impressed. The atmosphere was inviting and the staff extremely accommodating. The location is very practical and the furnishings are stylish. Overall, our visit was a success and I would happily recommend this restaurant.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. ++: Beautiful establishment. Good beer. --: Longest possible service (shaven-headed waiter). Nowhere have you had to wait so long to be approached as here. NOWHERE. - And this was at low occupancy, only a few tables were occupied. The food is not tasty and expensive.

Good food first! However, we were disappointed yesterday. Freshly squeezed orange juice was poured over us (i.e. one person). This can of course happen, although it must be said that the operator still has some room for learning when it comes to carrying the tray with two glasses on it. A mistake that would rarely happen to a professional. Unfortunately the shirt was white and new! Of course, they offered to cover the cleaning costs (if it was possible). In the end I had to pay the full amount of a good EUR 90 (for three breakfasts). After my objection, we were then given a waiver of around EUR 8.00. It's really not about the money: But I really find that more than petty and inappropriate - especially since you could have come up with this idea yourself. If this had happened in the USA, the entire bill would certainly have been borne by the house. I would have thought it was fair if the person in question had been free. It's a shame, considering the effort involved...

Lumen gave us a perfect evening at our European event with 35 people. The advice and communication before the event was very good. The food was delicious, the service staff was courteous and the wine selection was equally excellent! Thank you for the all-round successful event!

If it were possible to give 0 stars for the service, that would be my vote. Walking past the table 5 times without taking an order simply shows poorly trained staff or absolute service incompetence.

In 2023 we had the Christmas menu “GANS & gar”. Big praise for the delicious and fresh preparation, it tasted great. And special praise for the service staff, who very kindly and kindly provided the boxes for collection on the afternoon of December 24th, 2023.

There were 7 of us with the family for Easter Sunday breakfast. The drinks were included and I changed the milk cafe at Petit Dejeuner to a cappuccino. After about 5 minutes my Petit Dejeuner arrived without drinks, i.e. croissant, butter, jam. Once all the drinks were served, the remaining breakfast orders could be taken. The water bottle we ordered came without glasses and was simply placed on the table. Bread for all breakfasts was initially forgotten, as was a spoon for the muesli. The market breakfast was very simple, i.e. sausage and cheese were discounter quality or below, the cheese tasted like nothing, the salami was cheap, the egg was rock hard and inedible. Butter was missing. I will never order the Petit Dejeuner croissant here again, it tasted bland and was quite dry 11€. We expected the rustic avocado sandwich with a rustic bread, it was two simple slices of mixed bread, €14. Conclusion: We would happily come back for a cappuccino (€4.90) in the sun on the terrace. Unfortunately not for breakfast anymore.

Get a table with a short waiting time, even without a reservation. Very friendly service and delicious food.

We were a group of four ladies and had lunch there. The lunch offer of 20 € was very good, with the meal there was a bottle of water, a main course (we had beef roulade and risotto), an espresso at the end and we had a small selection of mini cakes. Today you can rarely find a meal in a good atmosphere and central location for €20. The service was very friendly, the food came quickly, and the portions were sufficient! On sunny days, you have to be lucky, but the season has just started and if you have a spot, it's beautiful.

A “hip” location. Modern glass architecture. Service, or rather the staff, is quick. The food is delicious, drinks too. Price levels for Wiesbaden in 2024 will be “slightly higher” (0.5 l wheat beer 5.90 euros). "Last round" announcement made more than 1 hour before closing time, on a Saturday, must prompt future visitors to ask in advance about the "closing time of the day" in order not to be complimented out unexpectedly early.

I had the daily menu for €19.90. Main course, still water, coffee and dessert. It was tasty but unfortunately there were few vegetables. For dessert there was panacotta with strawberry coulis. Delicious! The service was nice.

The Lumen is a nice restaurant, but unfortunately the prices are a bit high. I have one wish for the kitchen: please make a better tarte flambée, which also deserves its hefty price of €15. The tarte flambée I had looked like it was frozen, which the waitress denied. I've never had such a dry, dusty tarte flambée and I definitely won't order it again unless the preparation changes completely. Sorry, but you are certainly open and grateful for suggestions for improvement. Otherwise it is very nice there and the service was also very nice.
