We were looking forward to Bavarian food and a nice cold fresh beer. Unfortunately, despite instructions, nobody cares about their guests in the beer garden. What a shame!!!!

I was probably unlucky here today, the potatoes with the green sauce were tough, as if they had been lying around for a long time, the sauce was sandy, as if the herbs had not been washed carefully. I won't be coming here again.

That was a rather disappointing evening. Drinks were good, service was nice but the food was really bad. Chanterelle schnitzel with fries. Schnitzel has no taste, not baked in a pan, but frozen. Fries reheated with no taste. The side salad was good. We were there with 15 people and everyone was disappointed. We won't come back.

We didn't like it. Whether fried potatoes or fries, lukewarm, not crispy, just dipped in fat and served lukewarm. Unfortunately the meat didn't taste good either, it was hard, overcooked, tasted like it had been warmed up several times and wasn't entirely fresh. We left a lot behind. I was there a few years ago (even then the food wasn't that great) and wanted to give the place another chance. But it is and remains not a good restaurant, not good cuisine. Only the beer is okay, nothing else. The service is also disinterested. The managing director should think about whether such a restaurant can exist in the long term.

Just put them up on the Stars and Stripes poll for 2025. #1 spot in Wiesbaden for me

Beer is a matter of taste, mine wasn't. The food, oh dear. The soup is lukewarm and salty. The main course, in my case the Casteller pan, was huge but very tough, and the salt was probably all in the soup. My recommendation is clearly to another restaurant. Wouldn't go there again as my fellow visitors' food was also rated as cold and tasteless. Definitely thumbs down

Food is great as always. Service is typical for a German restaurant, meaning not overbearing but peaceful and plentiful. Great family gathering place that will not disappoint. Been coming here for 2 years and plan to continue as long as we live here.

We went there for lunch spontaneously, four of us. What was great was that we were able to get a seat even without a reservation, despite the fact that it was very full. Both inside and outside. The food was delicious and the waiter was cool and friendly. He apologized to us because it took a little longer to take the order. 150 people would be served at the same time. With this in mind, the food arrived quickly after it was ordered. The only negative point here would actually be that we sat at the table for about 20 minutes until the order was taken. Only this one waiter was responsible for the outside area; sometimes you would see a second waitress, but she would quickly leave. All in all a great place, you just need to be patient at rush hour.

One of the best steaks I've ever eaten, almost the same as the Kobe beef I've eaten, I'm Austrian and hate off-the-shelf food, my name is Christian Schwarzböck, I'm from Austria! I WRITE BOOKS ABOUT COOKING! So really guys if you're reading this, go there and eat this rump steak, it's incredibly tender, juicy and this explosion of flavor in your mouth, so what can I say, it was one of the best in all of Central Europe and I can say that because I I covered around 3000km a week and had already seen a lot, I was speechless and when I returned to my truck I had a smile on my face until I arrived and even longer, which I have rarely felt so intense and satisfying, many thanks to the whole team in the brewery and a special compliment to the chef, in my opinion he should deserve a lot more because he makes this restaurant really big. Thank you very much. In my next book I will dedicate a page with photos to you. Long live the brewery in Mainz

Once a beautiful location for Bavarian flair and cosiness, it is becoming increasingly outdated. What's a shame is the lackluster service. Empty plates remain for a long time, requests for food or questions about the menu remain careless and impersonal. The food was okay, value for money too. It's a shame that a location like this no longer has the charm it used to have.

Very bad service! The waiter had no desire to serve us from the start. The waiter was very unfriendly and gave snarky comments… not professional!!!! We waited more than 1 hour for the food. Food was ok but nothing earth-shattering. Unfortunately not recommended at all

Came here to have a good schnitzel with bratkartoffell. And a dunkel beer of course. Beer is great but the braumaister schnitzel was very dry with a lot of cereals on top and too little sauce. The bratkartoffels were not really good. Kinda coarse fries. Not butter baked real potatoes with onion and some bacon. The house, or castle, is really magnific. Another choice of food and this might have been a 5 star experience. Update: I go here today again and meet a friend for nice evening in the beergarden. Had a lovely Wurstsalat and the bratkartoffell were gresy, fron real potatoes. Busy evening there but service with good humour. Danke! Changed the verdict to all 5.

First of all, a friendly welcome at the bar, drinks and menu took a relatively long time, we then waited a full 1 hour 40 minutes for the food and were put off with "the food is coming soon". 2 meals came, the 2 other dishes then took another few minutes, so we couldn't eat together. The food was below average. The cheese spaetzle was not edible, the fried onions were comparable to rubber. When we mentioned this to the waitress, we were reprimanded in an unfriendly tone, saying that you couldn't expect homemade spaetzle in such a large establishment. The guests at the next table, who were there before us, waited almost 2 hours for their food and ultimately left the restaurant without eating. All in all, unfortunately not recommended.

Food takes a solid 1 1/2 hours from order to table, and that's when the restaurant isn't really full. Average taste, nothing really homemade. After an hour of waiting, the information came that the food was coming soon. Then it took another 30 minutes. That won't work. My second glass of beer was also forgotten. I then canceled because we wanted to leave.

There’s only one person who is the waiter, cashier and chef and is doing all the work. I ordered my food with my group and waited 2 hours to hear that he did not get my order and wasted my time.

This has to be one of the best german restaurants I have ever been to I would totally recommend coming here if your new in Wiesbaden

I don't know the last time I ate so badly! The service was terrible, the only good thing was the light beer, which was a bit stale by the second beer, as if it had been tapped half an hour before and then drank again

Really a shame!! Baked potato normal: some!!! green leaves - bissi salad ad ons like cucumber peppers and co - also mini small addition but included! At Bauhaus you can get a potato on the sauce for 16.9! A chicken mini steak cut into 5 snippets and 1.5!!!! Champions cut - I had fun putting it together... a salad leaf!!!! I asked the waitress where the rest of the salad was on the plate - so I was supposed to order another one for €4?! Why don't you make guests happy right from the start - green background made of lettuce leaves like ALL OTHER restaurants do...

......as a regular customer, living in the immediate vicinity, especially A regular about once a week for 2 dark beers. (so 1 measure and cheaper here than at oktoberfest 🤣) After Corona, the kitchen staff and service changed a lot. ......the new staff wages a power struggle among themselves, which the guests unfortunately notice here and there. 🤢 The kitchen has deteriorated to the old days, but the new head chef Thomas is now trying to change this again. (sorry - the so-called fried potatoes are not as such and also the kässpätzle without onions, this is more like cheese cream noodles. 🤷‍♂️) It's worth a visit, also because of Bavaria. ambience and the hearty “swine” for anyone who likes it to eat. (....at Easter the lamb ragout in dark beer sauce was great 👍) ....that's generally why there are a lot of "Americans" & "foreign citizens" there as guests there. Brewery as such is separate from gastronomy as such! ...the master brewer “Friedel” has been an experienced specialist for years and very friendly during a guided tour, I can only recommend it. "Indiana Stefan" , Mainz-Kastell, Castellumstr.😎 ps: the website needs to be revised regarding “our team”! - not enough mentioned who keep the “load” running. .....also that no brunch is currently offered.

We've been to the brewery twice recently and it was good. Normally priced, service OK. Green sauce with boiled potatoes was very tasty. Overall good. Gladly again.

Large portions, ok price, there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of taste. Price for the evening with starter, salad, main course and drink, without dessert, was €33.50, rounded up to €35. Asparagus cream soup, floury and tasteless, not a good seasoning. With 5 pieces of asparagus on top and 3 slices of baguette. Coleslaw was good. Casteler Pfännchen - knuckle removed from the bone with spaetzle and mushroom cream sauce was average. Haxe was more on the dry side. The spaetzle tasted very bland, the sauce and the soup were too floury and not well seasoned. However, mushrooms were very tasty. Water was drunk. Thank God the question as to whether the desserts, apple strudel or chocolate cakes were homemade was answered in the negative. There probably won't be a second visit. Which is a shame because I would have liked to try the beers.

Leider keinen guten Eindruck hinterlassen: nachdem wir hereinkamen, 5 Minuten am Eingang warteten und von der Bedienung, die hin und her lief, völlig ignoriert wurden (nicht mal unseren Guten Tag erwidert) haben wir uns einen Tisch selbst ausgesucht und Platz genommen. 10 Minuten später konnte ich die Aufmerksamkeit einer Kellnerin, die stets pflegte, Augenkontakt zu vermeiden, endlich auf mich richten, indem ich sie 2-mal hintereinander (und das 2. Mal etwas lauter) rief. So bekamen wir 2 Karten vom Tisch nebenan auf unseren Tisch quasi hingeworfen. 15 Minuten später nahm eine zweite Kellnerin, deutlich höflicher als die erste, unsere Bestellung entgegen. Nach einer langen Wartezeit kamen die Getränke, beide Biere leider fast Zimmertemperatur wurden schnell warm. Nach ca. 20 Minuten servierte die erste Kellnerin das Essen: genau so lieblos wie sie früher die Karten auf den Tisch hingeschmissen hatte, ging sie mit den Tellern um. Diese stellte sie teilweise aufeinander hin, Hauptsache schnell weg sein. Der Spießbraten war ok, der Schnitzel aber sehr fettig. Als wir fertig waren und wollten schließlich zahlen, hob ich die Hand in Richtung der ersten Kellnerin, sobald sie mich aus ca. 3 Meter Abstand erblickte, machte sie eine komische Miene, drehte sich blitzschnell um und verschwand. Sie kam dann 1 Minute später, ignorierte uns und fing an durch alle anderen Tische zu laufen, ihnen die Rechnung bringend und unseren Tisch sehr aufmerksam vermeidend. Schließlich kam die 2. Kellnerin mit der Rechnung und wir sind schnell davongeeilt.

Hello, we had dinner there on Mother's Day. I had chosen cabbage roulades on the menu. When I ordered I was told that these were out. So I spontaneously decided on asparagus with salmon. Unfortunately the salmon (commercial product and small portion) was raw inside. Not just glassy, ​​really raw. I asked the server if I could put the salmon in the pan again. She took the whole plate with her. So I couldn't eat the potatoes with sauce that were served separately. After what felt like an eternity (everyone at the table had finished eating!) the plate came back, but it was completely unappetizing. With the words: "Hopefully they're not fed up now!" Everything except the salmon was cold. The eighth of lemon that was previously on the plate was gone. So that wasn't a good experience. But the kicker was the price for this cold, carelessly served meal: €34.90

This is one of our favorite German restaurants. Great selection of foods for a whole family. We live how they always have seasonal foods, specials, and beer.

The ingredients are fresh and delicious But the beef is a bit tough

We had a trout that smelled and tasted old and spoiled, was taken back without comment or apology, and when we complained later we were simply told that it could happen. It smelled so strong that this cannot and should not happen to a chef. The bratwurst tasted sour, we weren't sure if it was spoiled. The waitress was very nice and attentive and then ordered us a very good Amaryllen schnapps. It was the first and LAST time.

Nice atmosphere despite the commercial area. Very flavorful beer. Attentive service. However, the S-roast was not good. Sauce too thick. Meat good but lukewarm. Dumplings cold. It's a shame, otherwise 5 stars.

Everything is just right, in terms of service (the waiters are really very friendly and attentive despite being busy), relaxed atmosphere, beautiful outdoor area, good selection of dishes including Bavarian cuisine and very tasty and the beers are also very good. Cordon bleu is horrible - tough meat (hard to cut or chew) disgusting molded meat inside and a spoonful of cooked cheese and, to top it off, fries that don't deserve the name. Neither hot nor crispy - just mushy. I couldn't eat them. I left the brewery happier.

Shortly after taking the order, the food was brought directly and well before the drinks. Despite requests, cutlery was not brought and we had to take it from the neighboring table. The knuckle, which was light and only a third crispy, tasted okay. Haxe was complained about, but we were immediately made to feel guilty by saying: "Then we'll take it back and throw it away." My cordon bleu was so dry, small and dark that it couldn't be cut. The beer was good. The staff is not open to criticism. There was no soap anywhere in the toilets. The waitress received the information in an unfriendly and annoyed manner. It's a shame that such a beautiful brewery has become so bad. We wish you all the best and hopefully we will soon realize that the food will be of much better quality and passed on to the guest in a more appreciative manner.

A rustic Bavarian restaurant. The menu is very well laid out and sufficient for a “Brauhaus”. The food we ordered was plentiful and tasty. Prices are absolutely ok. The staff was friendly and attentive. Generous parking space directly at the house. Conclusion: fully recommended! Even just for a little drink.

I've been there twice now. I had the vegetarian tarte flambée once and cheese spaetzle once. You could eat the tarte flambée, although it was a disgrace for the price. The cheese spaetzle was a disaster. Cheap ready-made food for an expensive price.

I have no idea how to rate this stay, beer was good, as was the raspberry spirit. The food in our case, pork schnitzel, was only served lukewarm and very dry. It was okay overall, but wouldn't order it again. The fact that as a waitress you shout loudly in the kitchen so that the guests can hear it, I have no idea whether that really has to be the case. Das einzig positive das Bier schmeckt gut .Leider ist der Service genauso so unterirdisch wie das Essen. Auf die Getränke 20 min gewartet, die Ofenkartoffel war eine Pellkartoffel, der Salat war angerichtet mit einer fetten Mayonnaise pampe. Tisch wurde bis zu Zahlung der Rechnung nicht abgeräumt. Service komplett überfordert obwohl der Biergarten nur zu einem Viertel gefüllt war. Alles sehr amateurhaft und hat nichts mit Gastronomie zu tun. Die Krönung : Ein Koch kam kurz zur Tür und ich konnte seinen völlig verdreckten Kittel sehen. Und wenn ich dreckig meine dann meine ich auch dreckig. Also kein Dreck von einem Tag Arbeit. Wenn ich das vorher gesehen hätte, dann hätte ich nie im Leben was zu essen bestellt.

The sauerkraut tasted very raw, the schnitzel was dry and the breading was soggy, not a good taste. The apple strudel was not homemade. More like everything is prepackaged. We'd love to come back to drink beer, but not to eat.

So we were there for the first time and the quality of the food isn't even worth 1 star. All cheap products, not even your fried potatoes are crispy. The taste of meat or mushrooms is not present or bad. The pretzel, supposedly fresh from the oven, chewy, rubbery,... Just way too expensive. We're never going there again. Service was nice and also joking.

I have known the Brauhaus Castel for a very long time. The service was always good and with very few exceptions the food was always delicious (they are all just people in the kitchen). We enjoyed the chicken breast with fries and sweet and sour sauce. I thought it was particularly nice that we got two plates, a robber plate, because I wanted to share my portion.

The tour of the brewery was great, but unfortunately that was all. The beer was okay, unfortunately not as good as hoped, but it's always a matter of taste. However, the food was poorly prepared both professionally and technically. If the fries end up half raw on some plates, the bread dumpling is so firm that it would behave like a ball if the meat was boiled or fried again and the beer sauce doesn't taste like much, then it's no wonder that on most of them what's left on the plates...

What was very annoying was that I had to pay for 2 large beers more than I ordered. The beer had already been booked in the cash register but was not served. The service was a bit overwhelmed.

My wife surprised me with bringing me here. Standard German food. Hearty and good proportions. Good for groups. Update: It's still my favorite Bavarian restaurant. Always attentive staff and generous food serving. Update: 19 JUL 23, our office went for lunch. It was my suggestion to have lunch here for a special occasion, but I was nervous about our short lunch schedule. When the door opened at 1130, there was already a small line to get in. We were kindly greeted and welcomed by the staff. Service was fast, and the food was excellent. This is simple, home style Bavarian food served in a cozy house. 8 October update, service is slow or perhaps disorganized. An older couple next to us tried to get the server's attention more than three times, after the fourth time I got up and was the "rude American" and told the bartender. He said he was busy, anyway after the awkward conversation, the two staff were more attentive.

Never had such a bad meal... We spontaneously went to the Brauhaus Castel yesterday (Saturday lunchtime) and will definitely not be coming back. The restaurant wasn't very full so we were able to choose a seat. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy, just as you would expect in a brewery. Our order was taken quickly and both drinks and food were brought to the table quite quickly. That's where the positive part of my review ends. I had the Braumeister schnitzel with fried potatoes. The schnitzel was only about 2mm thick with a grain breading and half was served to me raw. The breading probably barely saw the fat from the pan. I cut the schnitzel in 3 places and it wasn't cooked everywhere. After a few attempts to get the waiter's attention, he immediately took my plate away and brought it back after a few minutes. Instead of a new schnitzel as an apology, I got all the pieces I had cut back, re-fried (without another word of apology). So far so good and bad... but now to the taste: The dark beer sauce just tasted burnt instead of like dark beer. The schnitzel, the sauce and the fried potatoes completely lacked taste. Everything was completely unseasoned, not even salt or pepper. How you can produce something like that from a restaurant kitchen is a mystery to me. And he didn't like the light beer my husband ordered at all. This is probably a matter of taste, but unfortunately we read similar things in other reviews afterwards. Although he doesn't like drinking dark drinks very much, my husband would rather order a dark drink instead of a light one on his next visit (which definitely will NOT be).

We were there in a group of 20 people, The service was, let's call it difficult. After I went to the counter to order 10 Helle after half an hour, the good lady came and said that wouldn't work either. To top it off, the knuckle in the middle was still raw and the roast pork was cold and the starters weren't served at all. Instead of trying to save the situation, she started arguing that the knuckle was good after all. Unfortunately, it's an absolute failure again. The other meals were otherwise okay, only some of them were a bit cold when they arrived at the table.

Love this place. I've been going there for 20 years now. The beer is fantastic, and the food is delicious.

It classical German beer restaurant.

Was war denn da los?? Ich wollte nach ein paar Jahren mal wieder ins Brauhaus (ich hatte immer gute Erinnerungen and das Essen und das Bier). Leider wurde ich enttäuscht....Das Braumeisterschnitzel war unterdurchschnittlich. Das Fleisch war reichlich aber trocken. Die Soße war sehr dunkel und schmeckte einfach nur nach Malz...der Beilagensalat bestand nur aus riesigen grünen Blättern...da wurde wohl gespart.......Nun zum Bier: ich habe ein Helles bestellt....wenn man gerne Helles trinkt wurde man durchaus negativ überrascht. Das Bier war viel zu dunkel für ein Helles und schmeckte eher wie ein Bamberger Rauchbier....wobei ich mir nicht sicher bin ob es sich dabei eher um Fehlaromen gehandelt hat....die Bedienung war durchaus unaufmerksam.....Schade...ich denke das war meine Brauhaus-Historie....

Wir waren Sonntags mittags dort essen und es war wirklich lecker. Auf Wünsche wurde eingegangen, die Bedienung war super nett und aufmerksam. Die Karte ist übersichtlich und es ist für jeden etwas dabei. Wir sind wirklich satt und zufrieden raus. Qualität und Preis passen. Wer noch nicht hier war: es lohnt sich UND man kann sich für eine Brauerei Führung anmelden. Sonntags ab 20 Personen (vorbestellen!) gibt es auch einen Brunchbuffet. Lokalität wird seinem Namen gerecht! Eingang ist eben, somit auch Rollstuhl geeignet- einziges mango: leider keine Behindertentoiletten. Sonst Top !

Sehr gutes Essen und leckeres Bier!

Ich habe mir ein Rinderfilet bestellt dieses wurde Kalt serviert. Die Bedienungen waren unfreundlich mein Kollege hat Bratkartoffeln bestellt und hat Pommes bekommen der Kellner hat dann nur gesagt Pech gehabt und es dann auf den Tisch gestellt.

Essen war kalt. Beilage war ist eine andere gekommen als bestellt. Leider wurde auf die Beschwerde nicht eingegangen und man musste es nehmen wie es ist. Statt Medium war das Fleisch Roh.

Trotz Feiertag und großer Runde sehr leckeres Essen, guter Service und angenehmes Ambiente. Ein besonderer Clou ist der Biertower, an dem man am Tisch selbst sein Bier zapfen kann.

Ambiente ist in Ordnung,das Essen hingegen totaler Reinfall wir hatten alle verschiedene Gerichte und kein Teller war leer. Pommes alt und zuviel Salz Schnitzel zäh .

Wir waren gestern Abend im Brauhaus Castel zu Abendessen, die Gans war super lecker und überraschend schnell fertig! Das Helle auch super lecker und der Service war auch Klasse! Vielen Dank für den netten Abend

Sehr uhriges Restaurant Essen war sehr gut hätte etwas heißer sein dürfen stand einen moment zu lange am Pass. Doch mehr als laufen kann der Service nun auch nicht kann mal passieren. Alles in allem dennoch sehr zu empfehlen, werde gerne wiederkommen.

Heute mal Schweinebraten mit Semmelknödeln in Dunkelbiersoße, schmeckte prima, dazu das Festbier. Leicht süßlicher Geschmack, aber es hat was. Service sehr freundlich, wir kommen wieder!

Wir waren jetzt zum dritten Mal da um das leckere Bier zu genießen, und <überraschenderweise war das Essen auch super!! Die Gans war saftig und Knusprig und das Braumeister Schnitzel war auch eine neue Erfahrung und sehr lecker mit der Soße und den knusprigen Bratkartoffeln. Die Kellnerin war auch sehr zuvorkommend und immer parat wenn etwas gebraucht wurde! Wir werden am nächsten Wochenende auch wieder kommen um das rustikale Flair zu einem guten Abendessen mit leckere Bier zu genießen.

Haxe war sehr sätigend. Schöne Ambiente.

Der Service war Top!!! Das Bier mega lecker :) Das Essen war leider mangelhaft, da lau warm und wenig gewürzt, so wie lieblos angerichtet. Die Haxe, die Schnitzel und das Cordon bleu waren Handwerklich nicht gut zubereitet.

Leider hat mir das Braumeister Schnitzel gar nicht geschmeckt. Mir wurde sogar übel vom Malzgeschmack und ich konnte nicht aufessen. Das Schnitzel war zudem trocken und die Bratkartoffeln eher Salzkartoffeln. Man fragte mich zwar, was los sei. Aber ich bekam weder einen Nachlass noch einen Kaffe oder Nachtisch als Entschädigung. Das finde ich sehr schade und hätte es in diesem Haus anders erwartet. Normalerweise hatten wir dort immer leckeres Essen bekommen. Schade.

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant. Das Essen schmeckt wunderbar Schnitzel,Haxe und Hähnchen hervorragend

Wir waren am 28.10.2023 zu viert im Brauhaus. Bier lecker, Ambiente gemütlich. Leider war das Essen eine einzige Katastrophe, Salate nicht angemacht, das Brauhausschnitzel bestand mehr aus Malzpanade, Fleisch kaum vorhanden. Der Fleischkäs mit Spiegelei war lediglich angekocht. 3 Essen gingen zurück, die Ersatzessen eine Portion Bratkartoffeln (völlig verölt) und eine Ofenkartoffel mit "Sahnesauce" haben das negative Erlebnis abgerundet. Allerdings möchte ich an dieser Stelle die Servicekraft hervorheben. Die Bedienung (Michele) hat mit viel Verständnis und Freundlichkeit den Abend mit Ihrer sympathischen Art begleitet und hat nie die Ruhe verloren. Deshalb noch 3 Sterne

Parkplatz ist sehr dunkel. Schönes Lokal, urig, bayrisch, aber schon in die Jahre gekommen. Trotzdem nett. Freundliche Servicekräfte. Ich habe mir ein Gericht mit Bratkartoffeln bestellt und mich darauf gefreut. Beim ersten Anlauf waren die Bratkartoffeln noch nicht gar und kalt, außerdem haben sie vor lauter Öl geglänzt. Ich habe reklamiert und auch prompt wurde der Teller zurück gegeben. Beim zweiten Anlauf waren sie zwar heiß, aber sind im Fett geschwommen und haben auch so geschmeckt. Man schmeckt das es ein Fertigprodukt ist, genauso wie die Frankfurter Soße. Der Salat war schön angerichtet. Danke, daß wir als Entschädigung für die ekligen Bratkartoffeln ein Eis bekommen haben. Ich komme aus der Gastronomie und würde keinem Gast solche Bratkartoffeln anbieten. Vielleicht nimmt sich das mal ein Koch zu Herzen.
