Been here for food and drinks. Not a bad place at all

Located right on the pedestrian zone, it offers lovely outdoor seating in front of the restaurant. We only had one (delicious) beer here. The women only wanted a small one, but this isn't possible outside because it's only served in 0.5-liter steins. We didn't quite understand the message, but it was still tasty.

Never again. Ugly convenience food, zero quality. It's truly embarrassing to offer something like this. Not German cuisine, below cafeteria standards.

Yowza!! Backpacking through Europe, stopped in Heidelberg and this spot was PACKING in the yummy department... the sausage was incredible, the sauerkraut was bomb and the spetzle was out of this world. Super super yummy, authentic and service was awesome. Definitely check it out.

Perfect location right on the main Alstadt pedestrian drag. Gorgeous old building lends an authentic "good old German fare." Outside seating available, but it's inside toward the back where you'll get that "transported in time" feeling. I had the spaetzle and it was just divine (it has to be good for me to use that word).

The roast pork was so disgusting and soggy, and the dumpling was as dry as sand in the desert. I'm really disgusted now and want to puke. So, a 1.5 out of 10. But the schnitzel was solid.

My wife and I both enjoyed a delicious farmer's bratwurst with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes here. There was nothing to complain about in terms of taste or quantity. The service was cheerful, quick, and helpful in finding the location of the Hoepfner Brewery. The ambiance is rustic and ordinary. The drink prices are very high.

Perfect all around! We were there when it was very busy. The service was friendly and quick. The kitchen also prepared the dishes quickly. The food was homely and the price was right. We'd be happy to come back.

This restaurant is located on a pedestrian street in Heidelberg. We had our meal at a terrace seat. Other websites say they have a Japanese menu, but when I visited, they only had a German menu. I ordered using a translator, and the very friendly staff explained everything to me carefully. The beer was delicious, and the food was also excellent. It was a very memorable restaurant.

The restaurant/inn is located in the heart of town. There's a traditional outdoor area. The service was quite friendly, but unfortunately overwhelmed, as I was alone in a crowded outdoor area. I ordered Fanta, but without being informed, I got "Schwipp Schwapp" (a kind of sloppy drink) according to the bill! They could do better. And no, I don't necessarily have to look at the menu to see what drinks you have. I ordered a woodcutter's steak. So far, so good. I got a wafer-thin, overcooked piece of pork steak from the back or something similar...no bone, no fat...a real no-go! The sauce was amazing, bacon sauce...incredibly salty due to the half pig that was minced and swimming in the sauce. Sauce was never homemade, and never full of MSG! I'm allergic, with MSG and soy intolerance, and I can say my night was definitely worse than yours! Unfortunately, the excess sauce also made the fries soggy 😓 and even the herb garnish didn't help. I don't expect Michelin-starred cuisine, but a minimum of flavor and ingredients! For the price, absolutely terrible! And yes, I did raise a complaint, which was met with an apologetic smile! There's still plenty of room for improvement, in my opinion!

Unfortunately, the food was very bad. Bone-dry meat, drenched in a supposedly homemade, mushy, over-salted sauce, topped with bacon bits and soggy fries. Instead of Fanta, as ordered, we got sloppy sloppy fries. The service was friendly, but completely overwhelmed by the number of guests. Overall, our motto is: it's enough for us to see each guest once.

The food here is very good, very tasty, but also relatively expensive. Nevertheless, I would recommend it to everyone. The service is fantastic; the waitresses have funny sayings and brighten up your afternoon. Extra sympathy points for me because I forgot my glasses and the staff brought them for me. A huge thank you at this point.

Unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. As foreigners, we felt extremely unwelcome. The staff openly made comments in German in front of us, assuming we wouldn’t understand. We were asked to pay €1.50 just to get an extra plate for sharing, something we’ve never encountered elsewhere. To top it off, they inspected our cash intently for like three minutes as if we were trying to pay with counterfeit money, which felt very disrespectful and discriminatory. Definitely not a place I’d recommend to international visitors.

But the next day, another unfriendly waitress, unpleasant and clearly without consideration for a tourist, so we went elsewhere of course without ordering. Unequal so depending on your luck.

Friendly welcome and quaint restaurant, that was the positive. The food (Jaegerbraten) wasn't tasty in terms of taste, there was a lot of unseasoned ready-made sauce and it wasn't visually well presented either. The prices for the beer are higher than elsewhere.

If your looking to tick typical, standard, solid German food off your list then this spot in Old Town Heidelberg is your spot. The sausages were perfectly cooked. The sauerkraut was great. The Apple Streudel was Devine. Simple and authentic. Nothing bad to say.

For years in my younger self and Soldier life, I walked br this pub without visiting. The other day with an old Army buddy and two former students on vacation, we stopped by on a Saturday night. The staff was very professional and friendly. My students were charmed by the bartender who was born in NYC but lived in Spain or something like that. Just a great night that I’ll remember for a long time… official visit date was March 15.

We've been there several times now, always happy to have very nice service. Staff is relaxed. Prices are okay.

We came here late at night to have a beer on the way home. We were warmly welcomed, advised on our choice of drinks and were able to enjoy a fresh beer.

The Löwenbrauhaus Heidelberg was a disappointment. I was hoping for a cozy evening with good food and freshly tapped beer - unfortunately this expectation was not fulfilled. The taste of the food was weak and in no way corresponded to the price range. The quality seemed inferior, the preparation was careless, and overall the dish didn't seem fresh. For a restaurant that offers traditional German cuisine, I would have expected much more. The beer was particularly disappointing. Tried two different types - both tasted stale, like they had been open for far too long. In a brewery you should be able to rely on getting a perfectly tapped, fresh beer - unfortunately that wasn't the case here. Conclusion: If you are looking for high-quality German cuisine and good beer, you should look for an alternative in Heidelberg.

Nice service, atmosphere is great. Unfortunately, the food wasn't really my thing, it had spare ribs, but they weren't that tender. Therefore, unfortunately, a point deducted. Beer was very tasty.

The restaurant is easy to reach, right in the pedestrian zone and near a parking garage. The staff is always friendly and quick. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic, you feel comfortable here! The food is plentiful and really delicious. Only the prices are shocking (unfortunately this now applies to almost all of Heidelberg.) 20-30€ per person is really steep. In principle, people now think about going out to eat several times. If you do, the Löwenbräu is definitely a good address. On a Saturday evening, the only thing that is a bit annoying is the noise in the full restaurant. Still 5/5 stars! Gladly again at any time!

A very nice rustic inn. Very nice friendly service. Ate a very tasty pork knuckle and lentil vegetables. Nice big portions for a reasonable price. Highly recommended. Many thanks to the whole team. Definitely coming Again.

Casa de cerveza clásica (no cervecería) de una famosa marca de cerveza. El menú tiene varias opciones para sus cervezas. Todo lo que pedimos era de buen gusto, y el snitsel era excelente. El servicio fue amable y rápido, pero: la limpieza de las mesas y la sustitución de la ropa de mesa o sous platos no deben ser olvidados.

Classic beer house (not brewery) from a famous beer brand. The menu has various choices for your beers. Everything we ordered was tasteful, and the snitsel was excellent. Service was friendly and quick, but: cleaning the tables and replacing table clothes or sous plats must not be forgotten.

Although I visited alone, I was grateful for the staff's detailed explanation of the menu and recommendations. I was shocked by the fact that large size beer was served in mugs, unlike in Japan. The sausages were delicious and the restaurant matched the quaint atmosphere of the town, so I really enjoyed it.

Picturesque place with tasty food and very quick service

I ordered a lumberjack steak, which unfortunately turned out to be a lean pork neck steak or pork loin steak – without rind and without bone. Otherwise, the steak was relatively thin. When I asked the waitress if she had made a mistake, she replied that lumberjack steaks here always looked like that. Well, that's not possible. Either they serve a lumberjack steak too, or they simply remove the term lumberjack steak from the menu and sell it as a pure pork loin steak. Very disappointing. Otherwise, the sauce was a bit too loaded with MSG. Typical ready-made sauce. The fries and side salad were good. The beer was fine. By the way, dear Löwenbrau team: This is what a lumberjack steak looks like – see photo. The second picture is the steak as served. No rind – no bone. Very lean. And very thin. Definitely not a lumberjack steak! And no, dear Löwenbräu team—this review is not defamation, as you flagged it on Google to get my post deleted! It's a statement of fact.

My daughter ate at this restaurant with her friends and I was very surprised by what she told me when she got home. The portion of beef she ordered was less than half that of a similar traditional German restaurant, so my daughter politely asked the red-haired waitress if the portion was normal, and she was very rude and replied that it was because they were of good quality. That's not the point. The point is that the red-haired waitress was extremely rude the entire time. The most ridiculous thing is that she expected a tip when paying the bill. Although we usually tip at least 10% when dining out, unfortunately, she doesn't deserve it. Also, out of curiosity, I looked through the Google reviews and found that there seemed to be rude attitudes all the time. Tonight, the table next to my daughter was a family of tourists from China, and the waitress was very rude to them. I hope fellow compatriots who see this comment can avoid lightning.

A quaint inn in the middle of Heidelberg. Super friendly and professional hosts. Palatinate Saumagen and the cabbage roulade are simply great. If you like German food, this is the place for you.

Das Essen war lecker und man musste nicht lange warten. Meine Frau bestellte Gulasch. Die Portion entsprach nicht mal einer Kinderportion. Es gab massenhaft Soße aber nur drei vier winzige Fleischbrocken. Als wir die Bedienung freundlich fragten, ob es normal sei, dass mit dem Fleisch derart sparsam umgegangen wurde, entgegnete sie sehr frech und unhöflich, dass Rindfleisch teuerer ist als Schwein und es daher angemessen ist. Jedoch war die Menge an Schweinefleisch meines Jägerbratens dermaßen groß, dass dieser Vergleich offensichtlich absurd war. Besonders empörend war jedoch, dass das Gulasch nochmal teurer als der monströse Jägerbraten war. Auch den Rest des Abends war die Bedienung unhöflich und hat sich weder bedankt noch verabschiedet. Schließlich waren wir froh endlich zu gehen. Mit anderen Gästen besonders Touristen ging sie ebenso übel um und behandelte sie teils, als wären sie dumm. Zusammenfassend: das war schmackhaft, Portionen entweder zu groß oder zu klein und die Bedienung schafft es Kunden zu vertreiben. Solange sich bei Ihnen die Lage nicht verbessert, ist ein erneuter Besuch leider ausgeschlossen ! Nicht zu empfehlen.

Wir waren spontan in diesem kleinen, aber feinen Brauhaus in der Innenstadt. Die Bedienung war super nett und das Essen absolut i.O. Am besten war natürlich das leckere Bierchen in hell und dunkel 👍

Not recommended! The food was delicious and you didn't have to wait long. My wife ordered goulash. The portion wasn't even a child's portion. There was tons of sauce, but only three/four tiny chunks of meat. When we politely asked the red-haired waitress whether it was normal for meat to be used so sparingly, she replied very cheekily and rudely that beef is more expensive than pork and that it is therefore appropriate. However, the amount of pork in my hunter's roast was so large that this comparison was obviously absurd. What was particularly outrageous, however, was that the goulash was even more expensive than the monstrous Jägerbraten. The rest of the evening the waitress was rude and didn't say thank you or say goodbye. Finally we were happy to finally leave. She treated other guests, especially tourists, just as badly and sometimes treated them as if they were stupid. In summary: it was tasty, portions were either too big or too small and the service managed to drive away customers. Unless your situation improves, you will unfortunately not be able to visit again!

The beer was really tasty and the service was friendly. The food, however, was rather modest. The pork steak was hidden under a slimy sauce and out of sight. Schnitzel completely tasteless. Overall, the venison goulash looked very unappetizing. We had a lot of fat and even bones on the plate. The prices, however, are juicy. The toilet smelled like an underpass in the big city and was in a dilapidated state.

Paramos en el Lowenbrau para cenar después de un día de viaje. El lugar estaba lleno cuando entramos, pero el personal de camareros rápidamente organizó una mesa para nosotros. Pedimos cerveza, schnitzel y salchichas y estábamos muy satisfechos con la comida y el ambiente local del lugar. El personal de camareros era muy amable y hizo la experiencia aún más agradable ya que se comprometieron con nosotros a través de nuestra comida. El costo era muy razonable y nos dio una buena introducción a nuestra primera visita a Heidelberg.

Had a bad experience. There is discrimination and racism here! --- Ladies and Gentlemen First of all, I would like to apologize if my comment caused any inconvenience or distress. Although my words may sound harsh, they reflect our actual experiences. In order to clarify the reasons for my assessment, I would like to describe the situation in detail. A few days ago, on a cold evening, my parents, husband, one-year-old child and I visited your restaurant to ask if there were any seats available. While my parents waited outside in the cold, we entered the restaurant with our child to quickly ask. At this point, a member of staff quickly approached us and in a sharp tone asked us to close the door immediately. We explained that there were still people waiting outside so the door was left open, but the employee's reaction continued to be unfriendly. Still, we politely asked if there were spaces for four adults and a toddler as we were hungry and it was cold. The employee said there was space, but added with a mocking tone, "We have enough space not only for children, but also for dogs." This remark sparked laughter from the surrounding guests. I didn't really hear the comment at first, but my husband was visibly upset. We then brought my parents in while I was already feeling unwell. Throughout the entire situation, the employee behaved disrespectfully towards us while also joking with other guests. He eventually led us through a busy area and a long hallway into a completely empty room. This room had at least five or six tables, but we were seated in a dark, uncomfortable spot in the corner. The employee then suddenly told us that there were no children's chairs available - information that he could have given us right at the beginning. When we asked if we could move to a larger table nearby, the employee loudly refused, stating that this was an eight-person table. However, this table was neither reserved nor was the room occupied. Given these circumstances, my husband finally decided to leave the restaurant after briefly scanning the menu. If you think my comment is an accusation, I am willing to take it back. However, this experience was extremely disappointing and unacceptable for us.
