Absolutely wonderful, great local German food. Little cozy atmosphere with very friendly staff

Halfway between a restaurant and a German beer hall. Whoever serves us at the tables is very kind and courteous. The food isn't the best. My cordonbleu was a fried mass with no flavour. The beer is excellent.

The German pork trotters are charred on the outside and tender on the inside, and the meat is juicy, unlike some restaurants that have a meaty smell inside. The grilled pork chop and sausage platter is also authentic.

Cozy traditional restaurant where you can get very tasty food for good prices. The service was very friendly and we received service quickly. We had the Kaiserschmarn as a snack. Definitely recommended!

Don't ever go there. Very unfriendly. He said the kitchen was closing and there was a lot of leftover food, but he took it all and sold two more beers. When I complained, he got angry and threw money at me, telling me to leave because it wasn't his fault and he would just return the money. The food is trash and the staff are trash.

Did not eat.... Stopped for beers.. Staff friendly... Draft beers delish! Lovely place, cozy ambiance... High end for craft beer bums like us but just what we were looking for to pass a bit of time in this lovely city.

Perfect destination during Germany trip. Beautifull view, stunning castle. I had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful time with new friends from Korea, sharing laughs over a cold beer. We even snapped a cute photo together that felt straight out of a Korean drama!

We have been regular customers since 2018 and go to Löwenbräu regularly. The food is very good, the portions are perfect and all the employees are very friendly and it's always nice to see each other again. The location is perfect, in the middle of the pedestrian zone, in summer you can sit outside. We can recommend everyone to eat there!

The food is traditional but so good to eat schweinebraten is so tender I love it and the coleslaw good combination. It's worth to eat here the atmosphere is really nice to eat and the people aswell

We were there for the first time. The atmosphere is very clocky and old but you feel really good and at ease there. A beautiful old inn but in a positive sense. The food was great and delicious. The service staff are great and friendly to the guests. Price performance is right for the portions and size. Will eat there again when we are in Heidelberg.

Quite a good brewery in the city center.

I love mashed potatoes, crispy pork elbows, highly recommended! It will be a pity if you don’t try it in life! Warm apple pie is delicious too! Cream and ice cream go perfectly together!

This is a nicely located pub and restaurant in the old city part of Heidelberg. The fare includes solid German food and excellent beer at reasonable prices. Service was very friendly speaking German as well as English.

We walked in to a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Service was great and the beer on tap and waiting (they also have gin and tonic). Menu selection left you wanting more. Traditional dishes served in a relaxed delicious manner. Prices are reasonable and good value for money and wonderful for your stomach 😊 Definitely worth the visit.

The food portions are large. Normal German cuisine. You can eat it. Nothing special. The drink prices are overpriced.

The food was incredible, and service was quick and friendly. Staff spoke English! Atmosphere was fantastic. I went with my boyfriend and family, it was a hole in the wall place that was absolutely worth it. Genuine authentic German food.

The food is good but the menu was in German and we ordered without knowing very well. What was our surprise when the waiter corrected me in perfect Spanish that he did not eat the casing of the sausage. We would have been grateful if, upon detecting that we were Spanish, he had helped us order from the beginning and given suggestions, so my husband wouldn't have drunk a beer with lemon.

Portions are also suitable for very hungry guests 😋 friendly service and appropriate prices. We'd love to come back!!

The Löwenbrau has a rustic atmosphere. The service is super friendly and responds to special requests. The food is incredibly tasty. The price-performance ratio is good.

Atmosphere nice and rustic, service great but food... I had knuckle, first 2cm dry which tells me the part was old and warmed up, all the sauces seemed to be ready made sauces, the mashed potatoes too. The other dishes were similar. But after 10 hours on our feet, we were hungry.

You can eat while listening to the sound of the bell. I visited in August, and there were a lot of bees all over the city, so if you don't like insects, you might want to stay indoors. The food was great.

The furnishings are rustic, but quite appropriate. On the menu there are many local specialties, home-style cooking. We chose the salad plate with egg, ham and cheese and the paprika schnitzel. The salad was crispy, fresh, with many different ingredients and had a wonderful dressing (when we asked, we learned that it was homemade). The paprika schnitzel (good quality meat) with fries was in a fruity-spicy sauce with peppers and onion pieces, very tasty! The fries are also crispy, on point. Despite the restaurant being full (Sunday evening), there was little waiting time. The young woman who served us was very friendly and quick (despite a long day at work) - big praise for her at this point! We are happy to recommend Löwenbräu!

Minus 1 star! On August 24th, 2024, we spontaneously stood in front of the door at 9:30 p.m. with 6 women, all wearing the same T-shirt, and wanted something to drink. We were dismissed with the words: “We generally don’t take stag parties”. Seriously? We are thrilled with Heidelberg and all the people in service, but we are actually even more shocked by this reaction. Not only were we put in an embarrassing situation in front of all the guests, we were neither drunk nor loud and, above all, we were NOT a bachelor party! People are honestly being dismissed here, seriously? We wanted to book for dinner the following day, but that was done. Embarrassing for such a restaurant!

We had champignon cream soup, rostbratwurste and schweishaxe with Lowen Pils. In the end apple strudel. Everything good for average prices.

The food was plentiful, but it was nothing special. It tasted okay, but it also gave the impression that everything was bought ready-made and not cooked by myself. We thought that was a shame! The staff was nice.

We were in this restaurant in the outer region for my 60th on Monday August 19th. The gentleman who served was courteous and friendly. Drinks and food were prepared quickly. We entered accidentally to have lunch there but it turned out to have one the best foods in Heidelberg, I had the schnitzel with cream sauce and it was just PERFECT. The meat was well seasoned from within and the crust was crunchy and well fried. Their house beer was also delicious and went well with the food. Overall, highly recommend ☺️☺️

Lovely to sit outside to people watch. Prompt and attentive service, but just lacking the real authentic German feel. Had the pork shoulder and dumpling in beer gravy which was a couple of tender slices in a bland ish thickened sauce. Cabbage was lovely and fresh tasting though. Husband had cordon blue schnitzel croquettes which he presumed was all In the croquettes but the schnitzel was seperate and very nice, and served with frozen pre made tasteless rubbish and that was it We just felt rather disappointed overall

We visited the Löwenbräu restaurant on August 8th, 2024 The restaurant seems to make a pleasant impression from the outside, so we decided to eat here (we are currently still sitting at the table). The food came relatively quickly. 1x beef goulash with homemade spaetzle + side salad 1x crispy schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce + side salad The meat from the goulash was nicely cooked and the sauce was bland and tasty. As a true Swabian, I can say that the spaetzle was more like Knöpfle and definitely not homemade. The schnitzel was anything but crispy and size The side salad was mushy and not edible. I agree with one of the reviewers and also claim that this restaurant cannot possibly have regular customers and lives exclusively from tourism. I wouldn't come back either.

A good restaurant in the middle of the main street. Despite the many tourists, it's not a rip-off. The food is good and the price is not overpriced. The menu has a large selection.

We were there on July 26th. for dinner at Löwenbräu, we had reserved the table for the afternoon. Service attentive and friendly. The food was okay, but nothing more, and the price of the beer was a bit higher. Overall there is nothing to complain about, but we liked it much better at Vetters the day before.

Nice restaurant with a terrace right on the main street. Offer Bavarian cuisine and the right Bavarian beer, which Heidelberg's many tourists are also happy to accept. Prices are moderate and are in reasonable proportion to the performance

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and of course the food was standard Bavarian quality (and of course the beer has the 1lt cups option as well, in typical bavarian fashion🍺😍). The mashed potatoes were heavenly and my beer sauce was just mouthwatering.

My friend and I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The staff were very friendly. There were no more tables available for outdoor seating, so we sat inside. Shortly after our drinks arrived, a table outside became available. Our wonderful waiter moved us to that table. How kind!!! The food was very delicious, especially the mashed potatoes. I highly recommend this restaurant!

We ate there this week because of the positive reviews. I had a cabbage roll. What I got was a collapsed piece of cabbage with a marble-sized piece of minced meat inside. The taste of the sauce was okay, but the price wasn't right either because this wasn't a stuffed cabbage.

Palatinate Saumagen did not meet the expectations and experiences from the Palatinate, it was more like meatloaf with potato pieces. Schnitzel with fries was OK.

Attracted by the crispy German pork knuckles. Pork feet, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with mashed potatoes and lots of sauerkraut. The store clerk's service attitude is also very good! It was a pleasant dining experience

This is a great spot on the touristy strip. Great for people watching and drinking local beer. Our waitress Ina was phenomenal.Friendly and fun. We did bot eat but the portions look generous. Great introduction to Heidelberg.

Very friendly staff and prompt service. Unfortunately the chef is...well...to put it mildly, talentless. Sorry, but you have to say it like that. The sauce tastes like it's in a bag, just like the spaetzle. The meat is bland and fried to death.

Very attentive service and friendly. Even though the restaurant was very full, we waited less than 10 minutes for our food. The roast pork was very tasty and there was a decent amount of sauce with it. The bread dumpling would have needed some salt. I can recommend P11 University Library as a parking space.
