Good food, but the service smelled unpleasant.

Simply fantastic! The food was outstanding – fresh, flavorful, and prepared with great attention to detail. The service was attentive, friendly, and professional. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and inviting. I highly recommend this place and am already looking forward to my next visit!

Although often very loud, the pizza and the friendly staff usually make up for this drawback, but not this time. Update: As soon as I entered the restaurant, I knew: Right by the entrance – that's where we'll sit. And indeed: It felt like being in the penalty box at school after a misbehavior. Despite having a reservation, we were seated at the long table right in the middle of a wind tunnel – the entrance was pulling, the other guests were pulling, and my mood was plummeting along with it. Waiters and guests rushed past every second. Physical contact included – sometimes a pat on the shoulder, sometimes an involuntary hair-pat. Almost familial, if you want to look at it positively. I had the Orecchiette di Manzo al Limone – about as exciting to eat as tap water. Not a single onion, no garlic, not a hint of lemon – maybe it was on vacation? Instead of mascarpone, there was cream, and the whole thing tasted exactly like the carbonara at our table – presumably the all-in-one house recipe. I would have gladly ordered one or two more beers – just for emotional support. Unfortunately, the waiter only showed up to bring them and later to collect payment.... ...It was awful...

We were in Rostock from October 26th to 30th, 2025, and ate at L'Osteria three times. It was great that we could share a pizza with different toppings, with the more expensive one accounting for the price. A fantastic concept! The lasagna and spaghetti carbonara were also delicious. We were particularly impressed by the small tiramisu with pistachios. Even without a reservation, we were able to get a table quickly. All the staff were incredibly friendly. We just wonder what a single person does if they can't eat a large pizza and don't want to take the leftovers with them because they're staying in a hotel? Thank you so much for the wonderful food; we felt very comfortable, even as retirees.

The pizza sat heavily in my stomach for a long time. The company doesn't allow negative reviews and deletes them via Google for defamation. Even bad experiences should be allowed to be freely expressed!

The food is a real treat every time!

We spontaneously decided on this restaurant during our visit to Rostock on a Sunday evening. Around 8 p.m., it was still quite busy. Our request to be seated upstairs was politely ignored. We were assigned a table downstairs. The service was fast, but very hectic. The menu was mid-priced, with an additional pumpkin menu. We opted for pasta. Both dishes were truly excellent, both gnocchi and tagliatelle. Plenty of them, too. The noise level dropped considerably during our stay, and then it became more pleasant for conversation. Unfortunately, there were no small courtesies from the house, but there was this outrageous requirement for tips on the card payment machine. Nevertheless, we would definitely come back!

We wanted something to eat at 10 p.m. It's very central, near the town hall and Steinplatz. It's best to order two half pizzas. They're more than enough. Huge pizza. A well-known L'Osteria favorite. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. If you pay by card, you can add a tip right away. Important for us, since we don't carry any cash anymore. They have shandy on tap. Delicious.

The service was excellent, the pizza was delicious, and there was a little birthday surprise on top! It was just a bit loud, so it wasn't exactly a cozy evening. But I can still recommend it.

Absolutely not recommended! Standard pizzas over 40 cm in diameter!!! Hang about 3 cm over the plate. Pizza has absolutely no flavor, and the cheese, sauce, and ham are probably cheap products. Never again from this restaurant chain!!!

The pizza was HUGE. We ordered a pizza and drink special and I expected a small personal pizza, bit it was larger than the large pizzas I normally get. And the crust and sauce were fantastic! I got mushroom and it was COVERED with fresh mushrooms. It was great pizza!

The spaghetti Bolognese was okay, but nothing special, as it was very blandly seasoned. The spaghetti wasn't spaghetti either, but square strips. Although you sit here in the evening, like at a train station—it's quite airy—the food was hot and the portions were generous. The staff is friendly, but they move at a brisk pace, which creates a rather hectic atmosphere while eating.

Today I ate a Margherita pizza at your restaurant, which was unfortunately completely burnt, as you can see in the attached photo. Unfortunately, the service was also disappointing. The waiters chatted among themselves instead of coming to our table and asking if we needed anything. They also pointed at the guests and laughed, which was very unprofessional. We traveled all the way from Munich to this small town because, based on the Google reviews, we thought we were going to a really good restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. For this reason, we will not be visiting your restaurant again.

Unfortunately, no scallops were available, so we opted for the lasagna. It wasn't fresh and probably came out of the microwave piping hot on the outside and barely warm on the inside. The pizzas looked better. The service was good and friendly. It was busy and I hadn't made a reservation. After a short wait, a table was made ready. It wasn't the prettiest spot, but it was quickly and efficiently arranged. Still, three stars, mainly because of the disappointing scallops.

We placed our order and then waited for over an hour. Yes, you heard right, over an hour! And the worst part was that the waiter didn't even have the courtesy to inform us why the food was taking so long and then acted rudely when I asked about it! In my opinion, good service would have informed us in advance how long we would have to wait for our order. Instead, he rudely backtalked us! His tone was that of a bad-tempered teenager. I highly recommend everyone avoid this restaurant. The quality of the food isn't even the most important thing, but the way the staff treats the customers. If you don't want to be treated like trash, go somewhere else. *Conclusion:* 0/10. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant even to my worst enemy.

I would like to emphasize that the cuisine at this restaurant is traditionally excellent—tasty and high-quality, which is why I've been here several times. However, on my last visit, I was unpleasantly surprised: the staff behaved rudely and condescendingly toward our table. This is in stark contrast to the quality of the food and significantly tarnishes the overall impression.

The first time I went there with my boyfriend we took pasta 🍝 and it was soooo delicious that we came back and this time tried pizza 🍕. I am not a huge fun of those kind of pizza dough but ingredients were fresh and couldn’t say anything bad about it. Portions are satisfying and the interior has great italian vibe ❤️

The food was very tasty. However, we sat at the table for at least 30 minutes and waited for someone to come to us. We then went inside and asked if we could sit outside. Still, no one came. We wanted to go inside and were told they only had takeout. It was 9:20 PM when we got there, and we left again at 10:30 PM.

The pizza is huge... Ordered with anchovies... There were what felt like five small fish on it. A bit small for my taste. When asked, they only told me to order an extra portion next time... Oh well.

Caesar salad recipe made at Osteria Rostock: green salad with green lettuce, not forgetting green lettuce and a zest of green lettuce (forget cherry tomatoes, croutons, or anything else. Completely unnecessary). A few pieces of unbreaded chicken sautéed in plenty of oil, not breast meat, but giblets (breast meat is too expensive, and we're not going to throw away giblets; we recycle them). The Chef's little tip: above all, don't forget to drown everything in a VERY runny industrial white sauce. The price: this is important; if you don't charge "the thing" €14.50, the guy won't feel like he's eating in a gourmet restaurant. That's not good for business. Note: you can pay less, €10.90, but that's without chicken (yes, apparently there are Caesar salads without chicken... just green lettuce and white sauce!?!?). Bonus: make the customer wait as long as possible in front of an army of waiters busy with nothing with 5 or 6 customers in the restaurant to show him that it is very complicated to prepare. Otherwise, the restrooms are on the right after the counter, right next to the "scam" sign.

A very busy Italian restaurant. We were invited inside. The host had made a reservation in advance, which was sensible given the crowds, but we still had to wait a few minutes for a table. The staff was very friendly and accommodating; I'd imagine it would be different in other restaurants. The food was good. I don't particularly like Italian cuisine, so I'll stick with the food. The noise level also steadily increased, so at times you couldn't really have a conversation, which made it very difficult to feel even slightly comfortable. All in all, it was OK; the staff was very good.

After 40 minutes, the waiter asked the kitchen. Apparently, the pizzas were being prepared. Apparently, our order had been forgotten. After an hour, the food finally arrived. By then, it was already 9:00 p.m. And the next disappointment: my pizza bo (calzone) wasn't cooked through at all, and the filling was cold to lukewarm in the middle. So, I just quickly put everything in the oven until the dough was cooked through. The waiter wanted to tell the kitchen. All in all, it was a disappointing experience—not a cozy dinner, more like a mass-produced meal. What a shame.

So I decided to change my review. I have been to this pizzeria several times. The pizza is 3/5, very dry and not enough toppings. The pasta here is much tastier than the pizza. The service is ok. They treat children well.

They even checked to see if the iced tea was vegan… unfortunately, it isn't… but I thought it was great that they spent ages researching it for me. I ate there regularly. Everything was always great. But not on my last visit. We ordered from the lunch menu (I was holding it in my hand and chose the food from it), but the bill was the regular price. I then had to listen to the employee for five minutes telling me everything I'd done wrong and that it was all my fault. Disrespectful behavior, tone, and language. In the end, compared to the many other days I've spent there, it wasn't a pleasant experience, and I feel ripped off. That was down to that one person; otherwise, everything was fine. But nobody needs that, so always be attentive.

As visitors to Rostock, we ordered a pizza from the lunch menu, including a drink. We were pleasantly surprised by a large, delicious pizza and friendly service in a great restaurant.

I often go to the Loste and I'm from Rostock. During the Hanse Sail, I deliberately avoided going to my favorite pizzeria – and now I know why. I feel very sorry for the waitress mentioned in the last reviews. I always found her and her colleagues to be very nice and friendly. It doesn't matter where you come from in Germany – appropriate manners, including "please" and "thank you," should be a given, and I think it's right to demand this. It's simply selfish to constantly shout "me, me, me." It's a strenuous and often unappreciated job to serve guests on weekends and holidays and provide them with a pleasant evening. People who write such disrespectful comments here should remember: Even if you work there, you don't have to put up with everything. By the way: The pizza was top-notch again today, and the service was excellent as always!

Sunday evening, August 10th, 8 p.m.: Five of us are sitting relaxed at our table, being served by a nice colleague – until suddenly a supposedly virgin... appears. Not our waitress. Not our table. Nevertheless, she interrupts a conversation with our previously great service staff member without being asked, makes rude comments, and lectures us on how to speak. The point here was the word "please," which was apparently missing from my sentence, even though none of us had spoken to her before?! Such a behavior is unprofessional, disrespectful, and simply out of place. And here again the explanation to Virg... for an inner-German saying - (if you're lecturing and demanding, you should also have some knowledge): The Swabian saying "Ich hätt' gerne noch" means something like "I'd like something more" or "I'd like more." It's a polite way of asking for a second helping or an additional portion of something, often at the table or in a sales situation. In this case, chili oil and a reference to "a polite way." Since I'm Swabian, I allow myself to use this socially acceptable choice of words. As the managing director of a German/Swiss trading company for catering products, I know the difficulty of finding skilled workers, but that's a deal breaker. The fact that our meals were delivered every 10 minutes (I only know this from Asia) wasn't even excused by our actual server. But then demanding a tip in the billing system on the grounds that the colleague misunderstood her job and was to blame – it's exhausting.

L'Osteria Rostock is a must-try for me on every visit to the city. I love their pizza – it's big enough to share, and the ingredients are fresh and high-quality. This time I also tried the pasta and was impressed – the creamy sauce and perfectly cooked al dente spaghetti. The staff is always smiling and very helpful, able to advise on dishes and wines. The restaurant's decor is modern yet cozy. Although it can get crowded, the atmosphere is relaxed and very pleasant. The prices are commensurate with the quality and portion sizes. If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine at its finest, L'Osteria is the perfect choice!

Sunday, 8 p.m. We wanted to eat – we ended up in a one-woman show called "Virginia" (dark blonde, short bangs). Is that her real name? More believable than her friendliness: not at all. The food? Rubbish. The service? A textbook example of disrespect. Guests are reprimanded, yelled at, and lectured – even people who aren't even sitting at her table. She interferes, fusses, and acts as if paying guests were a personal provocation. You'd think she was there undercover to deliberately ruin the place's reputation. If the concept is "service," then good night.

The pizza was very good and very large. It was quite loud in the restaurant since there were so many people there, but that speaks volumes about the quality. The service was very pleasant. The music is quite annoying in most restaurants, but here I found it very pleasant. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. 👍

We spontaneously stopped by for pizza one Sunday evening with our three children (3, 5, 7). The pizzas arrived quickly, were huge (as always), and were delicious. The staff was attentive and child-friendly. The highlight for my sons was the direct view of the trams :-)

The staff is very rude, and the ambiance isn't appropriate for the price. The food tastes comparable to home-cooked food if you're not in the mood and just let everything burn. Unbelievable that I had to pay for this. I had unbelievable bad bowel movements for three days afterward.

We like coming here and always feel comfortable. However, today our food was served lukewarm/cold. I understand it's busy, but hot food is standard in this restaurant. We also mentioned that it was cold. Last week was busier, and it worked better. We'll still be back, but we'll make a note when ordering that we'd like our food hot.

Nicely decorated and very tasty food...when it arrives! We waited 1.5 hours for our food without any communication. We were there with two children, which became really challenging. When I asked about it, I was told that they (L'Osteria) would do better next time, which I unfortunately don't believe, because when we were sitting there, the waitress simply didn't care. So, unfortunately, that was our last time there.

We stumbled upon this place by chance and are so glad we did. Very tasty carbonara (many restaurants can't even manage to serve the carbonara in a palatable way). The pizza was huge, and we were already taking a deep breath before the last bite. 🤣 The staff was very friendly. This definitely won't be our last time here.

A year ago, the service wasn't that good. I didn't like it. But I was there today. Super nice, young German ladies. Everyone was friendly and hard-working. They also chose a great spot for me. We sat on wooden chairs, like in school. It took an hour from the time we ordered until the food was on the table. 1930-2030. No comparison to the Losteria in Greifswald or Potsdam. It's much more pleasant there. I'll avoid Rostock. The salad wasn't up to Losteria standards. July 27, 2025

Unfortunately, our experience was not great. We waited over an hour for two pizzas, and the restaurant wasn’t even busy — imagine how long it would take if it was full. We ordered two colas, and they brought them immediately — but since the food took so long, the drinks were warm and flat by the time we actually ate. Ended up ordering more just to have something cold with the meal. When the pizzas finally arrived, they were not fresh and honestly didn’t taste that good. For all that waiting, we expected something better. Definitely disappointed. Not planning to come back.

Right next to the market square, a tram occasionally passes by, but it's still pretty quiet. The prices are perfectly reasonable for the amount of food, especially for the pizzas, which are about 40 cm in diameter. We didn't have to wait long for our food. I can recommend the lasagna if you don't have a big appetite, because it was very tasty ^-^ But it's also no problem to have the pizza wrapped up ;)

We've always enjoyed coming here, but unfortunately, the last time was a complete disaster. My Caesar salad was sour, the croutons soft. It gave me stomach problems. My non-alcoholic Hugo was way too sweet. The lasagna wasn't great either. Unless we're craving pizza, we won't be coming back. What a pity :-(
