We've often been to L'Osteria as a family with our two daughters... mostly in Dormagen, but also once in the north of Düsseldorf. We've always been delighted and satisfied, and big fans of the concept. This time, however, it was truly disappointing! Our waitress had left for the day without saying a word. Our youngest daughter's food arrived first, eventually... ours (three other meals) finally arrived a good 40 minutes after hers (and it was only three pizzas). The new waitress, whom we spoke to several times, at least seemed to understand our complaints... especially since all the other guests who had clearly arrived after us and ordered after us received their food well before we did. At one point, I honestly thought we were on a prank and that we were being deliberately denied food. The store manager didn't even come to our table once, nor did he try to resolve the situation personally, leaving everything to the waitresses. After more than two hours (with two small children), we finally left... a few drinks were removed from the bill as an apology! That was really disappointing and annoying!

We've been here many times and have generally been satisfied. Unfortunately, my pasta has often been a bit too salty. When there are ice hockey games on, you have to make a reservation and expect a longer wait. Today, November 30th, however, we had a very negative experience. The pasta arrived lukewarm, the salad dressing was hard to find, and no waiter even came by to ask if anyone wanted anything to drink. Poor staffing (very few waiters) and, due to the high volume of customers, apparently chaos in the kitchen. We'll still come back!

Unfortunately, we stood at reception for almost 10 minutes without anyone being there. Even after asking around, no one came. When someone finally did, they told us we could choose our own table. No one asked about the "mandatory" reservation. There were no more tokens for the pizza, so the pizza had to be half-laid on the table. Our son's pizza was okay. Parts of my pizza were burnt. This unfortunately wasn't noticeable until later, as the "cold" toppings, added after the oven, had been placed on those areas. So we only discovered it while eating. My Caesar pizza had a grand total of four pieces of chicken. I would normally only give it one star. However, the service at the table was excellent, so five stars+, which is why I'm giving it two stars overall.

On November 21, 2025, I had a truly awful experience at a restaurant on Theodor Street in Düsseldorf, the likes of which I've never seen before. We were supposed to be going to a concert at the PSD Dome, but we were incredibly late because we'd made the mistake of ordering a pizza online beforehand. When we went to pick it up, we were asked for our names, and we thought everything was going smoothly and we'd have our pizza in a few minutes. After 15 minutes, we called to check on it, and were told they had no record of our order. They took down our names again, along with the items we'd ordered, and promised to prioritize it. After 20 minutes, we called again, and our order still hadn't been processed. I ended up standing around in L'Osteria for a good hour trying to get the order I'd placed online two hours earlier. I would have gladly left, but unfortunately, we'd already paid via PayPal. The staff was incredibly rude and completely ignored our request; even the restaurant's team leader was utterly unprofessional. All we kept hearing was, "It's not my fault, we've disabled the online pizza ordering function." But we were able to order and pay for a pizza online, so it couldn't have been disabled. What appalling customer service! We arrived late for the concert. Thanks for ruining our evening. We had a two-hour journey and simply wanted to grab a pizza at the hotel before the concert, but that was impossible due to the unprofessional behavior of the staff at L'Osteria on Theodorstrasse in Düsseldorf.

I am extremely disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. After receiving the wrong pizza and with the processes clearly disrupted, I was confronted and even yelled at by a bartender in a gray shirt—according to other employees, his name is Mahmud. What I found particularly shocking was that he verbally attacked not only guests but also other employees. It seemed to me that he was completely overwhelmed, while the rest of the team remained attentive and friendly. This kind of behavior is simply unacceptable in a restaurant where people want to enjoy their leisure time. As a guest, I feel insulted and disrespected. Other guests also seemed stunned by his behavior. I have decided: I will not be returning to this restaurant. A place where one wants to relax should never be ruined by the aggressive behavior of a single employee.

Unfortunately, I can't give this place 5 stars. Even 4 stars seems a bit too high to me. However, I want to be fair and explain briefly. We were a party of 14. It was a shame we didn't get a large table. We were seated at two separate tables, very inconvenient for a celebration. Unfortunately, there was nothing we could do about it. Our waiter that evening was genuinely attentive and very friendly. You could tell he enjoyed his job. Drinks were ordered quickly and arrived promptly. Then, unfortunately, things got progressively worse. The table was reserved for 5:00 PM. Our appetizers took over an hour to arrive. We finally received our main courses around 7:30 PM. That evening, the staff seemed unprepared. They explained it by citing new colleagues and a lot of staff shortages due to illness. Unfortunately, this was to the detriment of the guests. Regarding the food: No one would order the carpaccio again. The quality and taste were nonexistent. The vitello tonnato was okay. The bruschetta was good. Pretty much the best thing we ate that evening. Unfortunately, everyone had something to complain about. The pizzas are large. The first impression is great, even the first few bites, but then they become inedible. Too dry, too hard. Maybe we were just unlucky. Around 8:00 PM, we ordered something sweet. The taste was okay. The panna cotta and the tiramisu were both fine. But the wait was a nightmare. The last of the sweets were served around 9:30 PM. Absolutely unacceptable. My recommendation on days like this (massive staff shortages) is to only allow reservations. Perhaps they should reconsider this. The price range is still acceptable. The appetizers are definitely too expensive. Well, it was a really average evening. There's room for improvement.

On top of that, children kept wanting to go in and out and therefore wanted to open the door where we were sitting. Unacceptable! In the end, I had a row with the other guests. We went to L'Osteria am Schokoladen in Cologne a few months ago, and it was much better and, above all, cleaner. We got a table immediately and ordered right away. The restaurant wasn't very busy. The wait for drinks was very short, but the wait for the food was outrageously long. We ordered two pizza halves, which the waiter brought cold. When we complained, they made excuses that it had gotten cold between the kitchen and our table. We received two new ones, which were warm. Not hot, just warm. They even had the nerve to say they'd had the new ones made especially for us. We then ordered dessert. Why it takes almost 40 minutes to prepare a single piece of tiramisu and spaghetti ice cream is beyond me. When it finally arrived, the ice cream was mushy and no longer in its proper shape, and the tiramisu, if you can even call it that, was more like a sad little pile of cocoa powder. There was no sign of coffee or mascarpone either. We received no compensation, let alone any offer of it, for the cold pizza, the long wait, or the disappointing dessert. Unfortunately, I couldn't pay the exact amount, and I didn't receive any change either! It was incredibly rude of them to immediately assume the difference was a tip when I was asked. Furthermore, I only realized afterward that they had charged us incorrectly. If I can save even one person from wasting their evening and their money by eating there, I'll be satisfied.

Pleasant atmosphere – that much is certain. Unfortunately, that's where the praise ends. The service has noticeably declined, and this is evident in many small details. Bruschetta was "not available," for whatever reason. The Monza salad now costs €15.95 – ambitious for its size. Substituting chicken for the beef adds €4 to the price. A clever solution, at least from a business perspective. The bread was carelessly placed on the edge of the plate, without even a basket. The service? Previously attentive and friendly, this time it was more like energy-saving mode. No smiles, no eye contact, and at the end, the card reader prompted a request for an 8%, 10%, or 15% tip. A charming way of reminding the customer why they're reluctant to return. In short: Pleasant atmosphere, unfriendly service, steep prices. Or, to put it simply: a nice place – if you don't care about service.

I absolutely love L'Osteria. The interior design is the same in all their locations, and I find it very appealing, especially the high ceilings, the stone walls, and the warm lighting. The menu is extensive enough that everyone can find something they like. They also offer milk alternatives for coffee, which is fantastic!

We really like the pizzas at L'Osteria and actually enjoy coming to the Theodorstraße location. However, the place has lost some of its charm in recent months. You wait forever for your food, and the service isn't as attentive and friendly as it used to be; they're more stressed and don't even look at you. Otherwise, the pizzas are delicious :)

Big praise to the team at this branch. I asked half an hour before closing time if I could order a takeaway pizza. No problem. It's not unusual to be so friendly after such a long and certainly stressful day at work. I was offered something to drink several times and even got a cup of pistachios to help me while I waited. Sometimes it's the little things that make something special. The pizza was, of course, delicious and, as always, way too big ;) Thanks again!

We waited almost two hours for a pizza, while the dip we ordered had already been on the table for an hour. We waited another 30 minutes for the tiramisu, which is served cold and just needs to be brought. The portions were quite small, and the pizza was only lukewarm when it arrived. Definitely not recommended, but maybe okay off-peak.

I was one person and waited over 55 minutes for only 1 pizza and the table next to me who came much later than me received orders so quickly! Extremely unorganized and very long waiting hours even if you are one person! If you love your time to be wasted come here.

We came here two days in a row. The first day we had pizza and the second day we tried the salad and some pasta plates. Everything was perfect the food tastes so good and the service was so nice and very friendly. We would definitely come again when we are in town.

We arrived at Positano through the City Checks with corresponding expectations. Initially, something positive: the "very friendly service." What came next was truly terrible. A salad starter had no dressing, and a main course of pasta was hard. After complaining, the pasta came back a little better, but the meat (fillet tips) was inedible. My husband's pasta with scampi (2 pieces) had no sauce. It was all very disappointing.
