An unserem letzten Abend in Berlin baten wir Freunde um eine Empfehlung für ein deutsches Restaurant im wunderschönen Mitte, einem Bezirk mit historischer Architektur. Die rund 100 Jahre alten, fünfstöckigen Wohnhäuser versprühen ein harmonisches Flair der Vorkriegszeit. Dieses kosmopolitische Viertel war auch als Jüdisches Viertel oder Scheunenviertel bekannt und später als Spandauer Vorsta. Es liegt in West-Berlin, nicht im Sowjetviertel, was Touristen die Orientierung erleichtert. In der Nähe befinden sich die berühmte Neue Synagoge und die Oranienburger Straße. Das moderne, weiße Gebäude an einer Ecke trägt in schlichter Schrift den Schriftzug „Lokal“. Über ein paar Stufen gelangt man in ein charmantes kleines Restaurant mit Tischen, das sich ideal für kleine Gruppen eignet und durch seine schmalen Wände angenehm privat ist. Die Einrichtung ist modern mit abstrakten Gemälden und walförmigen Glaslampen, die durch großzügige Wachskerzen auf den Tischen ergänzt werden. Die Speisekarte bietet vier Vorspeisen, vier Hauptgerichte und zwei Desserts: Käsekuchen und Erdbeeren mit Sahne. Rind- und Schweinefleisch waren modern zubereitet und gut, der Fisch an diesem Tag weniger. Wir wählten eine Flasche Hauswein (Rheinwein) für 34 € und das Essen lag mit dem Verzicht auf Vorspeisen und dem Teilen eines Desserts im oberen Bereich unseres Budgets. Das Personal ist sehr charmant, einer der Kellner besitzt sogar eine Kunstgalerie. Die Konzepte sind gelungen, und es gibt nur knapp keine fünf Sterne wegen des Fischgerichts. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Das Lokal bietet eine regionale Küche mit regionalen Produkten. Wie es so schön über die Küche heißt, "deutsch, herrlich unaufgeregt". Darin liegt aber dann auch die Kritik, sicher eine solide Küche, aber eben auch nichts Aufregendes. Empfehlenswert waren die Bäckchen vom Fisch und die Leber zu jeweils 36 Euro. Das vegetarische Nudelgericht zu 22 Euro war langweilig, nicht intensiv und raffiniert genug abgeschmeckt. Die Entenbrust als Vorspeise war eine Enttäuschung, 3 magere Streifchen und ein zu saurer Minisalat sind den Preis von 16 Euro nicht wert. Die Flasche Wein liegt im günstigsten Fall bei 36 Euro, 0,1 meist bei 8 Euro. Zu kritisieren ist also das Preis- Leistungs- Verhältnis.

Tolles Essen und aufmerksamer Service

Die Atmosphäre im Restaurant war fantastisch! Die Blumenarrangements waren wunderschön, das Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, das Essen exquisit und köstlich, und das Brot wurde mit Knoblauch-Basilikum-Sauce serviert.

Ein abwechslungsreiches Menü bedeutet fantastische Erlebnisse und der Service ist ebenfalls hervorragend.

Essen top, service 1a! Besonders der Willi länzt durch seine charmante und zuvorkommende Art, liest einem die Wünsche von den Augen ab und berät äußerst kompetent zu den wöchtlich wechselnden, exquisiten Gerichten. Somit wird auch mir als Stammgast immer wieder etwas Neues geboten - Klasse! Als Dessert empfehle ich jedem den Käsekuchen aus regional-saisonalen Zutaten, die zu einem äußerst exklusiven Geschmackserlebnis arrangiert werden. Ein wahrer Gaumenschmaus!

Ich war in den letzten 18 Monaten dreimal dort und jedes Mal war es wunderbar, Gäste mitzubringen. Die saisonale Qualität der Speisen und das freundliche Team sorgen für einen gelungenen Abend.

Wir waren zu zweit früh zum Abendessen hier – wir hatten Suppe und Makrele als Vorspeise, Flankensteak und Lammschulter als Hauptgang und Käsekuchen zum Dessert. Das Essen war köstlich, besonders den Käsekuchen und die Suppe kann ich wärmstens empfehlen. Der Service war schnell und freundlich. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Wunderschönes Restaurant mit köstlichen Speisen aus frischen Zutaten, die ansprechend angerichtet sind.

Ich besuchte dieses Restaurant erstmals 2018 und kam 2026 wieder. Ich freute mich sehr, dass sich nicht viel verändert hatte – die gleichbleibende Qualität spricht für sich. Es ist ein sehr hübsches Restaurant mit sehr freundlichem Personal und fantastischem Essen. Es ist nicht nur schön anzusehen, sondern auch köstlich. Auf der kleinen Speisekarte hätten wir an diesem Abend mehrere Gerichte gefunden, die wir gerne probiert hätten, was für die große Auswahl spricht. Es gibt viele leckere alkoholfreie Getränkeoptionen, die weit über die üblichen Softdrinks hinausgehen. Das Dessert war das Highlight des Abends. Ich komme ganz bestimmt wieder!

Dieses Restaurant bietet regionale deutsche Küche mit Fokus auf saisonale und hochwertige Zutaten. Einzigartige und nie dagewesene Kombinationen – eine angenehme Entdeckung. Das Restaurant ist makellos sauber und die Mitarbeiter sind kompetent und freundlich. Unbedingt probieren!

Ein wunderschönes Lokal im Bezirk Mitte. Die Küche ist im Kern deutsch, aber die Gerichte sind ansprechend angerichtet und werden mit frischen, gesunden Beilagen serviert. Ein weiterer Besuch lohnt sich!

Ein Geheimtipp in Berlin mit kleiner, regionaler und spannender Karte. Das Essen war wirklich etwas besonderes und uns hat die entspannte Atmosphäre gefallen. Auch Getränke und Seereise top. Wir haben beide vegetarisch gegessen und waren mit der Auswahl zufrieden. Man kann die Gerichte gut teilen und so von allem etwas probieren. Eine Reservierung ist zu empfehlen, da der Laden gut besucht war. Die Lage ist super und wir werden im Sommer noch einmal wiederkommen um draußen sitzen zu können.

War okay, essen war gut, vielleicht etwas zu verspielt. Preis/Leistung hat nicht gepasst. Zu teuer.

Fine Dining in Bahnhofsatmosphäre Das Gute zuerst: das Essen war wirklich gut! Die einzelnen Komponenten schmeckte man heraus, und alle Gerichte waren gut kombiniert. So groß das Lob an die Küche so durchwachsen war leider der Rest: - Weil das LOKAL aber auch wirklich jeden Platz besetzen musste (apropos: 3-5 Tische insgesamt weniger wären auch nicht verkehrt gewesen), musste auch die 12-Gruppe inkl. Baby im Kinderwagen einen Platz in den engen Räumlichkeiten für einen Apero bekommen, was mit einer immensen Lautstärke der Erwachsenen verbunden war. Glücklicherweise konnten wir uns noch umsetzen - Enge und Lautstärke blieben aber präsent. Und nein: Wir wollten keine sakrale Stille, bei der wir das Essen anstarren. Die Stimmen erheben, um uns zu unterhalten, wollten wir aber auch nicht. - Die Fülle im LOKAL hatte auch Auswirkungen auf den Service: Wir konnten keine Basis mit einer Servicekraft aufbauen, weil wir alle Teammitglieder (inkl. der Barkraft) kennenlernen ,durfen‘. Ja, das Essen war super - und die Preise entsprechend hoch. Der Rest hat aber wirklich nicht dazu beigetragen, dass das ein gelungener Abend war. Schade.

Leider ein super enttäuschender Besuch. Wir waren an einem Montag Abend mit Reservierung dort und das Lokal war höchstens zur Hälfte gefüllt. Der Service war einfach unterirdisch. Unser Tisch wurde vergessen.Wir haben über eine Stunde gewartet und kein Essen kam. Niemanden vom Personal schien das zu wundern. Wir mussten mehrfach auf uns aufmerksam machen und wurden jedesmal übersehen. Ebenfalls waren die Getränke länger schon ausgetrunken und niemand erkundigte sich nach einer Nachbestellung. Unser Essen wurde tatsächlich komplett vergessen. Am Ende wurden wir noch nicht einmal gefragt ob uns das Essen geschmeckt hat. So ein völliges Desinteresse am Gast haben wir noch nie erlebt.

Ein absolut gelungener Abend von Anfang bis Ende Schon der Auftakt war großartig: Wir haben überraschend einen besonders schönen und großzügigen Platz erhalten, was sofort für einen positiven Start gesorgt hat. Das Essen war durchweg hervorragend die Kombination der Zutaten sowie die feine Gewürzabstimmung waren perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt. Man sagt nicht umsonst: Das Auge isst mit die Teller waren farblich wunderschön angerichtet und machten sofort Lust auf mehr. Geschmacklich überzeugten alle Komponenten: Die Zutaten wirkten frisch, hochwertig und sehr bewusst ausgewählt. Der Fisch war saftig, zart und dennoch mit angenehmem Biss, keineswegs weich oder übergart. Das Gemüse knackig, präzise gegart und wunderbar aromatisch genau so, wie man es sich wünscht. Ein besonderes Lob gilt dem gesamten Team: außergewöhnlich freundlich, aufmerksam, herzlich und sympathisch. Die Beratung zu Wein und Menü war kompetent, ehrlich und auf den Punkt. Auch als einzelne Gerichte bereits ausverkauft waren, wurden flexible Alternativen angeboten, die hervorragend gewählt waren. Hier merkt man echtes Können und Leidenschaft großes Kompliment an das Küchenteam, es war ein Genuss. Das Restaurant selbst ist klein, fein und sehr geschmackvoll gestaltet: kreativ, hell und angenehm warm. Man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und bestens aufgehoben. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an Maren, Christian und Willi sowie selbstverständlich an das gesamte Team. Meine Empfehlung geht hier ganz klar raus. Ich komme sehr gerne wieder. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist absolut gerechtfertigt und verdient.

Das Restaurant ist ein echter Geheimtipp in Berlin! Wunderschöne Location in bester Lage, sehr angenehme Atmosphäre und ein aufmerksamer Service. Besonders toll ist das täglich wechselnde Menü, das Essen ist kreativ, ausgefallen und war extrem lecker. Wir kommen gerne wieder, alle haben sich den ganzen Abend rundum wohlgefühlt!

Überraschend raffinierte Bistro-/lokale Küche.

Die Zutaten waren so frisch, und ich glaube ehrlich gesagt nicht, dass ich jemals wieder einen besseren Käsekuchen essen werde als den, den ich heute Abend hatte. Leider wohne ich nicht in Berlin, deshalb überlege ich jetzt, extra zurückzufliegen, nur um diesen Käsekuchen noch einmal zu genießen. Ich schwöre, jeder Löffel war ein himmlischer Genuss. Die Steinpilzsuppe und die Lachsforelle waren ebenfalls köstlich. Der Service war sehr freundlich. Wir sprachen kein Deutsch, und die Bedienung war überaus zuvorkommend und aufmerksam. Mein selbstgemachter Holunderblüten-Kombucha war unglaublich lecker.

Tolle Atmosphäre, super Team mit unglaublicher Gastfreundschaft und richtig gutes Essen. War wieder ein schöner Besuch :-)

Der Service war sehr freundlich und die Weinauswahl hervorragend. Das gemütliche Wohnzimmerambiente hat uns sehr gefallen. Am besten war aber das Essen: Es war von hoher Qualität und schmeckte außergewöhnlich gut! Auch die Rechnung war sehr angemessen – ein gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis!

As a big fan of this place, I have visited it numerous times over the years, including NYE and my birthdays. Even though the "daily menu" concept can be hit or miss, in general I've always been impressed with most of my orders. My last visit, however, was a massive disappointment. For starters, bread + cabbage spread was quite unpleasant. We ordered 6 different dishes, including the veal, two fish dishes, the pasta. None of them were impressive, in fact the fish was especially dry. They were all served with the same undercooked, bland vegetables. The pasta was OK and the cheesecake was very good. Overall, the food definitely wasn't worth the price. Ambience is nice, but it was super hot and stuffy inside- more than usual. We kept stepping outside for fresh air. Unfortunately, Lokal is over for me.

Lokal has been a "go always" night of my every trip to Berlin. Run by a fun and exacting woman owner. Modern, delicious and surprising, the atmosphere and food are in perfect harmony. The precision of perfectly starched and folded napkins contrasts fantasticly with the loose casual vibe of home dining. Produce is curated and delicious. Lokal is social and fun yet also perfect for a quiet date night. When you know it knows. Go.

The food and service from Hanna made this visit exceptional. Good selection of tasty, unique food, seasonally selected (the venison stew was off the scale!). Hanna was attentive, friendly and helpful and all staff were friendly. Very well priced too - would recommend

I first visited the restaurant in 2014. Since then, I've made it a habit to return every time I'm in Berlin. Maren and her team have never disappointed me, and this occasion—my father's 63rd birthday and his first visit to Berlin in 25 years—was no exception. Every dish was impeccable, and the atmosphere was as warm and the service as friendly as I remembered. A perfect place to celebrate during a cold Berlin winter.

We visited the restaurant unplanned, as one of several tips, and despite the full business, they offered us with a smile the opportunity to eat at the bar. This gave us a view of the work and atmosphere among the employees under stress and they managed it perfectly. The food and wine were great (in the given price category), the atmosphere was the highlight thanks to the service. We enjoyed the evening and are grateful for it.

The service here? Exactly what you'd want – respectful, attentive, and pleasantly unobtrusive. No artificial "How are you?" every three minutes, but genuine hospitality, like you remember from days gone by: You feel seen without being pressured. The food is really good – yes, perhaps a bit pricey, but quality comes at a price. If something is made with care, good ingredients, and heart, then it deserves the price. In short: Highly recommended. If you value traditional service and good food, this is the place for you. 😊

Absolutely marvelous place with an exceptional cuisine, fresh, seasonal and creative. Portion size will never leave you hungry. Worth every euro you pay. This is a kind of place I would dine every night.

My family and I were here yesterday, and it was simply magnificent. My husband and I were here 12 years ago, and even then, we could barely talk to each other while eating because we wanted to give our full attention to the delicious food. The service, the rooms, the coffee...everything is simply beautiful and so, so good.

I’ve been here a few times. This last time I think the food was the best. We ate the pasta and the fried chicken. Both delicious but pasta outstanding. The cheesecake for dessert was perhaps the best dessert we had during our monthlong stay in Berlin.

Absolutely amazing food and a wonderful experience overall. Every dish was delicious and carefully prepared, with great attention to detail. The service was friendly and made us feel truly comfortable. You can tell the whole experience is thoughtfully designed to make you feel at home. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice meal in Berlin!

Food: less than "so-so" (a deep-fried asparagus spear tasted like frying oil, catfish was not fresh or soft). Both dishes were unseasoned. Service: overwhelmed, didn't know the menu, and couldn't recommend anything. Very long wait. Prices: main course €30-40 + side dish €6-10, completely overpriced for the subpar quality. Conclusion: I'd like to go, but can't! Not recommended. A shame.

Great local German restaurant with great food and charismatic staff.

We went there for my birthday this week and had an amazing time. The food was delicious but the best part was the service we got from Anais! They were so friendly, great at their job and super charming. We had a good laugh with them and even though the restaurant was quite busy they took the time to have a chat with us and we felt very looked after. I also got a very good vibe from the other people working there and they all seem to get along and were quite joking/cheeky with either other. Highly recommend.

Chance brought us to this address. We were delighted by this experience. The presentation, the originality of the combination of fresh produce, everything was very good. A special mention for the delicious, exceptionally light cheesecake.

The service was really bad. We tried getting a table, we were only met with a very negative waiter. We got a table, but the waiter was again very rude and awful so we left. Never coming back again

My girlfriend's favorite shop, I find the prices a bit steep but the food and service are top notch

The pasta is very healthy and the restaurant is beautiful. The service is extremely friendly. However, the pasta is not my favorite pasta because it has little taste. Everything else is perfect.

We were there in a larger group. Food came at the same time and was very good. The service was discreet and you had what you wanted. For example, I didn't like cutting rock-hard turnips with dull knives. It is announced on the menu that it is cooked more aromatically / raw. But I would decide the size of my bites myself. The map always changes, so this is more of a criticism of the process than directed at the specific map.

What you have to get involved with here. Delicious food - simple atmosphere - good service - very very loud noise level - high price structure. Food was great, starter: 2 small slices of sturgeon €16.00 Main course: Veal knuckle...it was completely cooked...I wouldn't have expected it here...it was tender as butter, the vegetables included salsify, but they had only been in the pan for a short time and something like that was still hard - that's not possible had nothing to do with "al dente". Veal knuckle 35€ anyway. We paid €147.00 for 2 starters / 2 main courses / 1 bottle of water and wine each. Personally, I don't think it's justified. As already mentioned, the food was good, but for the price the “rest” had to be right (equipment/seating/ect) and somehow it was super loud

Food/service/wine list were great, but it was way too loud and without any noise filters, it was totally unpleasant and we couldn't understand each other (group of 6 people). It's a shame - but something can easily be done so that it doesn't echo so much there.

It's a shame actually. Used to be one of my favorite restaurants. The portions are now so small that I can no longer feel full - but the prices have remained the same. I'm sorry, but that's almost cheeky. I will probably avoid the restaurant in the future.

Uncooked chicken... in a restaurant of this standard, I didn't expect that. A very good friend recommended this restaurant to me, I was very disappointed. Expensive and uninteresting dish, no gesture from the staff when I show them my piece of uncooked chicken (!!!). We had to share our table with another couple, TO RUN AWAY!!!

It's classy, tasty, and welcoming. Great wine selection. Organic orange wine and surprisingly rich spätburgunder were my highlights. They make simple food ingredients play well together, regardless if it's fish, meat, or vegetarian. Joyful treat.

A wonderful restaurant with excellent cuisine and a pleasant atmosphere! The dishes were incredibly tasty and prepared with special care. We tried several offerings from the menu and they were all excellent. The staff is friendly, professional and attentive, adding comfort to the overall experience. The establishment is ideal for a cozy evening with friends or a romantic dinner. We will definitely return and recommend to anyone looking for a place with quality food and great service!

One of the best place in Berlin.

Small portions and very expensive. But still creative dishes. You can try it. The shop itself is very cozy and the staff are nice. You always have to reserve in advance. Not for spontaneous visits.

For higher prices (main courses €24-40), the restaurant offers really tasty and interesting food in a wonderfully pleasant atmosphere. If the service were a bit friendlier and I didn't have to pay an extra €5 for extra bread on a bill of €190, that would be 5 stars.

I have visited the restaurant in 2013/14 and then again in 2024. What remains the same is an unpretentious style, full focus on ingredients quality and freshness, local & bio origin, and creative appeal to the meals. What changed is the value for money: the prices went through the roof, somewhat spoiling the experience. Also, service is rather unexperienced / uninspiring. Still, it is a great please, for me though a little biased by nostalgia.

What a find! I was travelling on my own in Berlin and this was the perfect place for a solo diner. The staff were so kind & friendly as well as professional. The food was terrific especially the duck breast entree and the cheesecake. If I lived in the neighbourhood, this would definitely be my Lokal.

Overall had a lovely time at Lokal. Started with salmon and bell peppers - the salmon was the pick of the two as the bell peppers was a bit one note after a while. Mains we opted for the ginuea fowl and pasta. Pasta was a bit meh but the fowl was amazing. Excellent crispy crust and so much flavour. Got the gratin and salad on the side - was a lot of food! Probably would have skipped the pasta and salad and it would have been perfect. Menu changes often so what we had last night may not be what’s on offer! They have an English menu on the second page of the menu booklet and service was lovely and attentive.

Amazing (but...)🔥🥰🫢 Lokal is a very cool & cozy place where you can feel good and eat very well!❤️‍🔥🤗😍 Everything is amazing and there is a really nice list of wines (and cocktails)... 💥but "relax and arm yourself with a lot of patience"... of the 5 appetizers, 3 were finished (and it wasn't the end of the evening) even the entrecote was finished and the service is still let's say "unripe"😊... That said, I personally recommend it because you eat deliciously and you feel just super fine! (and it could also be that it was a bad evening...).💕💕🌞

We celebrated our anniversary dinner here, and it was absolutely delightful! The food was exceptional, with a fantastic selection of natural wines that perfectly complemented the meal. The service staff were attentive and courteous, adding to the overall wonderful experience. The restaurant itself is cozy and intimate, making it an ideal spot for a romantic date night. We will definitely be returning!

The meat is cooked perfectly, but the combination with the side dishes is not always successful. The wild boar was perfect in combination with the melon. Veal with oysters sound good, but instead of oysters you could also use sea salt. And the radish should be cooked and not half raw. There was no dessert. The service is very friendly and takes great care of the many guests.

Service is outstanding. Food and menu is good. Still there is room to improve and getting a bit finer in taste.

Good rest of Berlin It is in an area where only bicycles circulate so it is super quiet The food is very well prepared with seasonal products. The waiters are very attentive and jovial.

Food was flawless, staff is friendly and the wine is nice. What's not to like?

Phenomenal. Went in not knowing what to expect, since the menu changes regularly and were absolutely blown away. We had the chicken + scallops and the pasta of the day. Both were equally as flavourful and fresh as hell. This has to be the easiest recommendation I've given for a restaurant in Berlin and sincerely doubt I'll ever regret it, if they keep it up!!
