We went there for my birthday this week and had an amazing time. The food was delicious but the best part was the service we got from Anais! They were so friendly, great at their job and super charming. We had a good laugh with them and even though the restaurant was quite busy they took the time to have a chat with us and we felt very looked after. I also got a very good vibe from the other people working there and they all seem to get along and were quite joking/cheeky with either other. Highly recommend.

Chance brought us to this address. We were delighted by this experience. The presentation, the originality of the combination of fresh produce, everything was very good. A special mention for the delicious, exceptionally light cheesecake.

The service was really bad. We tried getting a table, we were only met with a very negative waiter. We got a table, but the waiter was again very rude and awful so we left. Never coming back again

The pasta is very healthy and the restaurant is beautiful. The service is extremely friendly. However, the pasta is not my favorite pasta because it has little taste. Everything else is perfect.

We were there in a larger group. Food came at the same time and was very good. The service was discreet and you had what you wanted. For example, I didn't like cutting rock-hard turnips with dull knives. It is announced on the menu that it is cooked more aromatically / raw. But I would decide the size of my bites myself. The map always changes, so this is more of a criticism of the process than directed at the specific map.

What you have to get involved with here. Delicious food - simple atmosphere - good service - very very loud noise level - high price structure. Food was great, starter: 2 small slices of sturgeon €16.00 Main course: Veal knuckle...it was completely cooked...I wouldn't have expected it here...it was tender as butter, the vegetables included salsify, but they had only been in the pan for a short time and something like that was still hard - that's not possible had nothing to do with "al dente". Veal knuckle 35€ anyway. We paid €147.00 for 2 starters / 2 main courses / 1 bottle of water and wine each. Personally, I don't think it's justified. As already mentioned, the food was good, but for the price the “rest” had to be right (equipment/seating/ect) and somehow it was super loud

Food/service/wine list were great, but it was way too loud and without any noise filters, it was totally unpleasant and we couldn't understand each other (group of 6 people). It's a shame - but something can easily be done so that it doesn't echo so much there.

It's a shame actually. Used to be one of my favorite restaurants. The portions are now so small that I can no longer feel full - but the prices have remained the same. I'm sorry, but that's almost cheeky. I will probably avoid the restaurant in the future.

Uncooked chicken... in a restaurant of this standard, I didn't expect that. A very good friend recommended this restaurant to me, I was very disappointed. Expensive and uninteresting dish, no gesture from the staff when I show them my piece of uncooked chicken (!!!). We had to share our table with another couple, TO RUN AWAY!!!

It's classy, tasty, and welcoming. Great wine selection. Organic orange wine and surprisingly rich spätburgunder were my highlights. They make simple food ingredients play well together, regardless if it's fish, meat, or vegetarian. Joyful treat.

We had high hopes for this sustainable, locally-sourced eatery with a new menu each day but ultimately every single dish was disappointing. Bland and unremarkable and not worth what we spent. Hope others have a better time on different days.

We tried several offerings from the menu and they were all excellent. The staff is friendly, professional and attentive, adding comfort to the overall experience. Small portions and very expensive. But still creative dishes. You can try it. The shop itself is very cozy and the staff are nice. You always have to reserve in advance. Not for spontaneous visits.

For higher prices (main courses €24-40), the restaurant offers really tasty and interesting food in a wonderfully pleasant atmosphere. If the service were a bit friendlier and I didn't have to pay an extra €5 for extra bread on a bill of €190, that would be 5 stars.

I have visited the restaurant in 2013/14 and then again in 2024. What remains the same is an unpretentious style, full focus on ingredients quality and freshness, local & bio origin, and creative appeal to the meals. What changed is the value for money: the prices went through the roof, somewhat spoiling the experience. Also, service is rather unexperienced / uninspiring. Still, it is a great please, for me though a little biased by nostalgia.

What a find! I was travelling on my own in Berlin and this was the perfect place for a solo diner. The staff were so kind & friendly as well as professional. The food was terrific especially the duck breast entree and the cheesecake. If I lived in the neighbourhood, this would definitely be my Lokal.

Overall had a lovely time at Lokal. Started with salmon and bell peppers - the salmon was the pick of the two as the bell peppers was a bit one note after a while. Mains we opted for the ginuea fowl and pasta. Pasta was a bit meh but the fowl was amazing. Excellent crispy crust and so much flavour. Got the gratin and salad on the side - was a lot of food! Probably would have skipped the pasta and salad and it would have been perfect. Menu changes often so what we had last night may not be what’s on offer! They have an English menu on the second page of the menu booklet and service was lovely and attentive.

We celebrated our anniversary dinner here, and it was absolutely delightful! The food was exceptional, with a fantastic selection of natural wines that perfectly complemented the meal. The meat is cooked perfectly, but the combination with the side dishes is not always successful. The wild boar was perfect in combination with the melon. Veal with oysters sound good, but instead of oysters you could also use sea salt. And the radish should be cooked and not half raw. There was no dessert. The service is very friendly and takes great care of the many guests.

Good rest of Berlin It is in an area where only bicycles circulate so it is super quiet The food is very well prepared with seasonal products. The waiters are very attentive and jovial.

Phenomenal. Went in not knowing what to expect, since the menu changes regularly and were absolutely blown away. We had the chicken + scallops and the pasta of the day. Both were equally as flavourful and fresh as hell. This has to be the easiest recommendation I've given for a restaurant in Berlin and sincerely doubt I'll ever regret it, if they keep it up!!

It is fashionable and has a lot of Berlin atmosphere; The food is not good considering how basic German restaurants are, they change the menu daily and use a lot of seasonal vegetables, they get overwhelmed when they are full

Very tasty food in a great atmosphere

The food was wonderful, the ingredients and flavors are on point. The space on the right side (facing the bar) is a bit cramped and very hot and stuffy (even when outside is chilly). I would suggest you ask for a table on the left side of the restaurant. The service is a bit slow and cold, but not to a point is unpleasant. We ordered sparkling water, duck breast, mackerel, veal schnitzel, cheesecake, rhubarb, tap beer and cider. It was about €102 and they did tell us we can tip them up front (which is fairly common here as per our experience), but it’s always a bit awkward to tell them the exact amount you are tipping 😅 Overall, we enjoyed the food very much and would recommend this place!

It is at a corner of a building, super packed with locals and some tourists. Dim with warm light for a diner. Served authentic German food with their signature - Cheese cake which I remembered. One again, you can tell the style of the food with the waiters. They are all hip, responsive looking. Worth visiting.

Overly complicated plating made for a mushy meal . My glass was always empty. I experience bad stomach cramps not long after eating. My complaint was met with, “It must have been something you ate yesterday.” I was not impressed.

We had a fantastic evening here. Relaxed modern environment with a menu that changes daily. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Matt looked after us extremely well and was very interested/knowledgeable in wine - which was the icing on the cake. Would go back in a heartbeat. Oh - and the food is delicious - lots of fresh flavours and beautifully presented. Definitely recommend eating here - good idea to book though as it’s quite small.

Wonderful surprise to have a beautiful, tasty and well thought out meal in the form of several small dishes. Yellow beet was particularly good. (Larger mains also an option of course!) Very good value too. The waitress was quite attentive and friendly. We tasted two white wines both flavoured. Recommend & would like to return. Thx.

There were live parasite larvae in the fish. After we called the waitress, they immediately removed the plate to throw the fish away, even though we asked them to at least take a photo so that a doctor can identify the parasite later. Terrible experience! The parasite was still moving around in the fish. Absolutely disgusting! I will never enter this restaurant again.

DANGER!!! PARASITES IN FISH!!! I recommended this restaurant to my partner after having had a nice experience there before. So he took his mother there for dinner last night, and this morning I get a text from him saying that they found a live parasite squirming in the fish she ordered. Absolutely disgusting, these people have no clue what they are doing and are endangering their guests. Their restaurant needs to be shut down!!!!!!!

It was fine. Not a fine restaurant, it’s rather lokal food and cozy vibe restaurant. We liked some food, the combination between ingredients were interesting but not balanced super well. Im not saying it bad but not the top level. I could recommend to my friends this place.

Cozy and warm place. The service was welcoming and friendly (we came without reservation on saturday evening). The food was average (tenderloin 37e and coalfish 27e). Not bad not very good. Tenderloin missed salt. We accidentally ordered extra sides, since we thought that meat/fish does not include sides😁

The restaurant had been on our list for a long time and so we were really looking forward to the evening. The room is very nicely furnished, but acoustically difficult, it gets very loud. My partner and I basically had to carefully yell at each other. The menu is varied and the plates are beautifully presented. The quality of the food is very good, we just found everything (except the deer) to be surprisingly bland. Given the prices and the appearance of the dishes, we definitely expected more. The cheesecake at the end was the right choice, it was really excellent! All in all: worth a visit, but that's it.

Poor service - doesn't know the wine list (at all) or the menu. Amateur only. Fish was raw… accidentally(starter) and meat (beef rib) dry. The gratin was also... dry Red wine carafed… no, poured into water carafe. We sat uncomfortably right at the checkout. But it was a better choice than directly at the door. The restaurant Lokal hosted us couple of weeks ago for a big group dinner (30+) and we had a lovely evening. I must underline that the service was particularly friendly and very professional - which is not always the case with such big groups. The food also was very good, and the atmosphere of the restaurant very cozy. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family!

We were here for a business dinner as a large group. As we arrived, the staff was quick to take our drink orders and made us feel very welcomed. The drink, rhubarb spritz was very unique in its taste (different to Aperol) and therefore I would recommend it to Spritz lovers!! The bread in combination with the beetroot dip was absolutely delicious. The appetisers, especially the potato gratin, were also sensational. The Gratin was one of the best ones I ever had as the potatoes were tender and well coated in the cream. The “Schnitzel“ was crunchy and very delicious, however I thought the sides with the Schnitzel were a bit too hard(especially the cauliflower). Nonetheless, the other dishes including the duck and fish were absolutely delicious. All ingredients used for the dishes seemed very fresh, hence the name „Lokal“. The dessert (apple crumble and cheesecake) were also very tasty. My personal favourite was the cheesecake with the berry sauce on the side. Moreover, the staff was very friendly and took their time when taking our orders and were quick to bring out everything smoothly. Additionally, some of us only spoke English. However the waitresses were fluent in both German and English, making it very easy for us to communicate. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys a more „high-class“ German dinner with fresh ingredients as the dishes were absolutely delicious and unique. Definitely a great spot in Berlin!!

Visit on Friday, January 5th, 2024 for four. German cuisine creative and at a high level. Small, regularly changing menu. Cheesecake exceptionally delicious. Comfortably furnished. Very nice service. Very well attended, be sure to reserve! No double seating! Unfortunately, some dishes were only served lukewarm. It was very crowded that evening, maybe that was the reason. The starter I ordered was supposed to be with potato, but instead it came with dumpling. Since I don't like dumplings that much, I didn't think this was that good. Some of the seating is very tight. All in all, I can recommend the restaurant!

Recommended to me by a colleague, it was a revelation. Typical German haute cuisine, excellent prices, courtesy of the staff. If you want a high-quality restaurant in the center of Berlin, this is the place you are looking for. Absolutely recommended!

Great food you can't say more. Very courteous service, good advice and, although the restaurant was very full, service was very quick. It was a bit loud, but that was due to the day: New Year's Eve! Still lots of customers.

Perfectly prepared local dishes in a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Everything we had tasted great: a clear emphasis on the flavour of every single element. The cheesecake was particularly outstanding. Service was also impeccable.

This restaurant is nothing special not worth going… The bread for starters is very old and hard. The main course of rabbit was extremely salty (as if they accidentally threw in half a pot of salt). We called in advance to make a reservation however, when we arrived we had to wait at the door for half an hour before we were seated… when we researched this looked like a good place to go to. But here comes the worst: when we were asked if we would be able to leave an additional tip after paying for the dinner, they cornered us because they did not appreciate us deciding not to. They wanted our feedback, we gave it to them and then they were trying to go into a discussion. when we tried to leave the restaurant after just paying for our food, the waiter stopped us again to start trying to argue on the fact we did not want to pay any tip. Mind you, we already paid the bill, said it was fine and just wanted to leave to our next appointment . It felt unprofessional and disrespectful. DON’T go here, there’s plenty of other places in Berlin where people will be treated with hospitality and respect especially for these prices.. bad service, very arrogant waiter, badly spiced and flavoured food. Never going here again.

Wasn't planning on leaving a review but after being cornered, gaslit over my refusal to pay a tip on my bill of 150 eu and reading other reviews regarding tipping. I feel it is my duty to warn others. We had a reservation there were no additional remarks made about the reservation, concerning a table or a bar seat. When we arrived on time. We where left a the door in our coats. The restaurant was overbooked and staff was clearly working hard to catch up. We waited patiently opened the door for other guests, greeted them with a smile (we where having fun with our predicament). After 30 minutes we where seated at the bar, finally take our coats off, sit down and hastily look at the menu as the kitchen would close within 30 minutes. We orderd and they asked if we wanted to move to a table (we where not thinking about this particular remark in the moment but it will come back at the end). We were seated at our table, the wait staff was doing good enough with the volume of guests the manager aloud to he seated that night. But it was clear they where all under pressure. The amount of bumping bottles and plates into things on our table made is apparent they did not have the mental space to do there tasks mindful was noticable. We are pretty sure they took a way our bottle of wine before is was completely empty for instance. The food was nice but not great and not prepared perfectly for the price we paid. At the and they asked us if we wanted cheesecake as a dessert with himberen. In the end it contained raw apple, let that just be one of the things I'm allergic to and not mentioned when the dish was explained to us. We let that one slide as we noticed on time. But all together it was just a bit of a let down. When I paid the bill the waitress asked if I wanted to leave a tip I said "no", she ask "why", I then gave a general explanation. She already started to protest a bit. That felt a bit awkward. But when I got up to leave the restaurant. The waiters stopped me to tell me (after she spoke to here manager) that we where never meant to be seated at a table and we should have been grateful to be switched from the bar to a table. That last little ambush in the middle of the restaurant really was one of the most inhospitable things happen to me at a higher end restaurant. I don't think this is everyone's experience but this was ours, do with that information as you wish.

such a cozy lovely place perfect for chill Friday nights in fall :) homey place and such nice and friendly staff. Asked for recommendation for wine and got perfect advice. Food was really great: the combinations, amount and also the way it was cooked - super delicious. Perfect for a date night or special occasion.

Recently in Berlin from London and had an incredible meal at Lokal! They were so accommodating as they were operating a fully booked night they let me sit and order the full menu from the bar. The entire staff was 10/10 and the Veal Chop was one of the best I have had. Highly recommend if you are visiting Berlin! Thanks, Maz!

Lovely restaurant in Berlin. Friendly staff, there was an English-translated menu and our server spoke to us in English since my mom and I didn’t speak German very well. We enjoyed every dish we ordered, but the name of the dishes escape me. In total for 2, we spent about €80-90 for 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 1 cheesecake dessert Portions are perhaps smaller than what Americans might be used to, but the focus felt more in the taste and texture.

One of the best food and beverage experiences I’ve had in Berlin! The food is well portioned and cooked exceptionally. The flavours are smart and appealing and the drinks are matched well. The real magic here is the staff. We started as a table of 5 and turned into 10 (which we hated) but the staff went out of their way to create space and still deliver impeccable service. The atmosphere is relaxed and ‘local’ while being classy and smart. Such a gem to discover and should be a hit list on everyone’s lists of where to eat in this city! DANKE
