what a disappointment! we came from really far to get here. although we arranged on the phone that we would be 10min late they gave the table to someone else. the person who was welcoming us was really nice and apologetic but the responsible coworker didn’t even have the courage to apologise and deal with the situation himself. overall the staff’s ability to find a solution or compensation was very poor. we were basically just sent out of the restaurant.

The best Thai in Berlin I've had so far. Amuse and a small homemade aperitif were included, the prices were absolutely reasonable for this really good quality. Everything tasted excellent, some fine dining combined with traditional cuisine and our own creations. Absolutely recommended, especially for people who like to eat something spicier.

Spot on Thai! Deliciously spicy! A small menu with amazing authentic dishes, flavour-packed and tasty. Also loved the teas. Service is incredibly welcoming and friendly. Loved the wok-fried beef, chicken larb and squid salad.

There is really good Thai food here. It looks very authentic and, above all, tastes really good. It's not cheap, but for the quality it's definitely worth it! The team is friendly and the restaurant is cozy. Unfortunately, no card payment is possible.

The food here is very spicy, but they make sure to inform you beforehand, so you’re well-prepared. If you can’t handle spice, this might not be the spot for you. However, the limited menu is well-curated, and the dishes are definitely worth trying! The chef is incredibly friendly, cheerful, and makes you feel right at home. The waitstaff is equally polite and welcoming, adding to the warm atmosphere. Although I can’t handle spicy food myself (I visited with friends), I absolutely loved the drinks—they were fantastic! The ambiance is cozy and inviting, though the space is small and often packed, so getting a table can be tricky. All in all, it’s a vibrant spot with great energy and a must-visit for spice lovers!

Top, top, top! Small shop, 100% authentic. Concentrated and very fine menu with changing daily specials. In terms of taste, the restaurant is in no way inferior to the starred and other competitors. The ambience is simple but not unpleasant. No chichi - good food, nothing else!

You have to try the papaya salad! It’s amazing. We paired it with a fried fish, also amazing. Our order was filled out with rice and beef curry dish. The atmosphere is smoky Thai cook shop. The air was thick with spice. This is not the usual Thai we experience in the USA. Much better and cleaner in taste and texture. And they are not afraid to lay on the heat!

The place is small. I was sitting in a small chair next to the door and it is not a nice place to sit in winter when people are coming and going all the time, I appreciated the service, The employees were attentive all the time, the service lady warned us about the level of spicyness, fortunately they had only two non spicy dishes on the menu which saved my butt cause I can't tolerate spicyness, I ordered the BBQ (pork) it was really good flavored, my friend ordered a dish "medium spyce" but even for her loving spicy food it was just toooo much 🥵🔥🔥🔥 just be aware of this !

Very good Thai restaurant with a small menue. The prices are ok and the staff is very freindly. All dishes are made the traditional way and are of course very spicy. If you can't stand it you better do not come here 😅

Simply fantastic! The best Thai food we had outside of Thailand. The Som Tam was a dream, we also really enjoyed the larb and curry. Even the dessert - I'm not a fan of sweets - was excellent. And I'm a fan of Berlin beer. We'll definitely be back.

food was very good, service was also very good, atmosphere was great...until the owner/manager arrived, instantly the vibe dropped ten points, he was yelling at staff, being visibly irritated while standing in the middle of the flow of service and kitchen , then poured a shot of whiskey and slammed it during the middle of service in the middle of the dining room. would be a better restaurant if he stayed home and let people do their jobs. employees and guests deserve better.

We went for a very late lunch. The food was delicious but a bit overpriced for the portion sizes. It's perhaps a place more for special occasions which it was, luckily. The pork belly really stood out as it was so juicy and flavorful. It comes with a killer spicy sauce on the side. Oddly, we had to order rice separately. The papaya salad was also good. The downside: Right when we got in, the server greeted us and proceeded to tell us we had to leave in two hours and could pay only in cash. The cash-only rule limited us to a smaller order (dishes weren't cheap!), and the time pressure of two hours put a damper on the evening. The menu also states that they don't make exceptions to spice, which is fine for us but the whole rule thing felt excessive, even for us living in Germany. In fact, it all cheapens the experience. Perhaps waiting for guests to be seated would feel more hospitable. Especially since there were only two tables when we got there. We were in a very good mood and felt celebratory, so it was fine considering our special occasion but probably wouldn't go back.

Excellent food: authentic and with lots of flavor explosions! The spiciness in the food is still reasonable, but you can notice the spiciness in the air - some guests had to occasionally cough. Therefore, a point deduction for the ambience: Rather small shop with a half-open kitchen, fresh air lovers will not be very happy here, but they are very tasty 😉

As always, a great experience, small but fine selection of dishes, in a group of 6 we had almost everything on the menu to share. Spicy and super tasty. We were able to move on completely happy...

Quite tasty but a bit overhyped. The menu is very small and be warned that they don't have many of the things you see on the photos here. It's a shame they can't be flexible with the level of spice - I have no problem eating spicy food but don't feel the need to have my food so hot that it ruins the other flavours for me.

Fantastic place, one of the handful authentic Thai restaurants in Berlin. They do not adjust spice levels of their dishes, and on their menu use the Thai spiciness scale not the German one. That is, a dish not marked to be spicy on the menu is still 5/5 on German spiciness scale (but 1/5 on Thai scale). They did have one dish as a daily special that was not spicy even for German taste, but I guess thats not guaranteed.

It's real Thai food. We asked if we could have a vegetarian version of the Papaya salad and the chef came out to scold us. He cannot make it without dried shrimps. :p It took quite a while to bring out the five dishes we ordered but the service was pretty nice and generally attentive.

reserved online, get there, get seated as told by the waitress, decided what to order, another waiter told us our reservation is not approved we can't sit here, forced to leave :D

My mate made a comment on their food on Google Maps. He has never said the food was bad, but the owner seemed to be very pissed and told him to spread the words, so here I am. :) You might have a great Thai chef, but there can still be people who honestly don't like your food. It'll help your restaurant and your life if you learn to accept it. For the record, we like spicy food. My mate was only saying the food is very spicy and therefore he could not sense other tastes of the dish. We didn't ask adjusting the flavour and apparently you wouldn't let us to, but it's still very unusual. I've visited Thailand many times and of course you can ask for non-spicy or less spicy food. Also not every Thai person enjoys spicy food. No worries. We won't visit you again, but it's not because of your authentic Thai food; it's because of your arrogance and lack of manners. Please note that you're playing with fire mentioning our "countrymen" in your comment. The following is the quote of the owner's comment: "And we do not accept requests to change our flavors and/or spiciness level because we believe we have more experience than you in cooking as our chefs have been in Thai kitchens for more than 20 years. In every dish that you say is too expensive, do you know that some of the ingredients are imported from Thailand, not the ingredients that can be found in supermarkets in Germany? If you don't know, let me explain here. As for what you said it's not Thai food, how many times have you been to Thailand and how many years have you lived there? If you want to book a restaurant, you can only pay in cash. Please note that it is a very high-end restaurant. I ate it today and it struck me that it was quite special, especially the pork liver dish, but the portion was really small. Fried fish is too dry If you want to come in here to eat, they will tell you that this is a very spicy restaurant, please weigh it yourself. It can’t be adjusted at all. It sounds cool, but it’s actually very strange. It’s just for people who are completely or suitable for very spicy food. In terms of taste, I felt that it was completely overwhelmed by the spiciness and I didn’t taste any Thai spices. If you want to say it tastes like authentic Thailand, it’s not exactly true. When you eat something very spicy, you get a kick out of it, so you want to drink something to go with your rice. Keep eating, keep eating, that’s it. The price is a bit expensive

I've tried a few Thai restaurants in Germany, but this one is the most authentic I've found! We had the spicy raw yellowtail salad, deep-fried sea bass with curry, braised pork belly, and stir-fried morning glory. Everything was very tasty and full of real Thai flavors. Just a heads-up: the spicy dishes are really spicy, just like in Thailand, so they might be too hot for some people. Also, they only accept cash, so be sure to bring enough with you. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for true Thai food!

Two stars for cash payment only (even less expensive restaurants have card payment ) Also was told we had two hours on the table. The food was delicious, with good ribs. Spicy perfect minced chicken. Rice is sold separately which is weird for this kind of restaurant 🤗 I do not intend to sleep in a restaurant but being told in the beginning that we have two hours isn't a good feeling. Overall if no card payment, I do not feel comfortable returning frequently. Decent experience still

I have known the restaurant well for over a year now. Larb Koi stands for characteristic, home-made Thai cuisine, distinctive spiciness and professional service. Even though the restaurant is not large, every table is welcomed with heart and soul. The team especially Tieb, Monay & Marisa were always great. And last but not least, the food is unique in Berlin. No Asian noodles, like at every snack bar, but meat and seafood with elaborate seasoning and a drinks menu not comparable with European drinks.

Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not right.

Very friendly service, even if only in English, really good food, the only thing we weren't entirely happy with was that there's no flexibility here when it comes to the level of spiciness. For me the medium spicy was just edible, for my girlfriend it was definitely not. There are people who just can't tolerate spicy food very well and would still like to eat good Thai food. You lose them all.

The food was very good except for the papaya salad, which I found to be much too sour. The beef curry and morningglory were very well cooked and delicious. The service is not my cup of tea. The level of spiciness is great.

Next level thai restaurant in berlin! Tastes and looks absolutely beautiful, spice level is higher than the standard Thai restaurants in berlin (it’s not German spicy), I loved the sea bass curry and papaya salad. Service was very friendly and good in general even if some of them apparently weren’t allowed to take orders, which makes it a bit confusing. The drinks took a long time to arrive and one of us didn’t get what they ordered. The food was so delicious though that I’d go again another day I’m not in a hurry!

They cook food for thais, if u want thai food then this is where you go, but don’t cry ok..?! 💯

Super tasty but super long wait to eat! You wait an hour for main dishes, and sometimes something gets forgotten and mixed up. So definitely bring a lot of time and patience. Still very tasty and authentic!

I have been to Larb Koi for 5 times now and was one of the first customers when they opened in 2021. Great food, probably the most authentic Thai restaurant in Berlin. However I won’t be (able to) going back because I’ve been trying to get a reservation but the response has been nothing but frustration. I tried to call 2 weeks ago for a booking (as calling always worked), the lady at the phone was unable to understand English and kept requesting me to write. But when I wrote through Google and Instagram, the messages got left ‘Read’ and no response. It’s a shame because Larb Koi always has a special place in my heart when I celebrate something important. I would suggest the owner to look into solving this problem as they grow, as I’m definitely not the first nor the last upset ex-loyal customer.

Love this place. Sometimes it's hard to get a reservation but that's ok. The chef always lets me know what is gluten free and the food is excellent. If you like spice, actual spice, this place is incredible.

3.5 stars. 💫 What should be highlighted is the friendly service (although they only speak English). Unfortunately, the dish I wanted to order wasn't immediately available even though the shop had just opened. The alternative was still very, very tasty. The spiciness of the dish is really fun. Unfortunately, two people can't get enough for €50. A sharing menu is just one portion for one person.

This is my favourite restaurant in Berlin. The service is great, and the food tastes exactly the same as in Thailand. We tried laab gai, papaya salad, aubergines, and fish curry, and they were all absolutely delicious. I would say the laab and som tam were slightly better than what I had in Thailand. We also tried the sticky mango rice (it was nice but not my favourite dessert).

Only 1 vegetarian option- stir fried morning Glory (basically fried spinach) for 15€. And it wasn't even good. Sticky rice 3.90€ as a side dish. Very strong smell of fried meat. Definitely a restaurant only for meat eaters. If your friend suggests it and you don't eat meat - run for your life.

The food is solid. Not the best Thai I've ever eaten but still okay for the slightly higher price. Service was okay, even if the greeting was "Two hours!" gave. It's a bit unfortunate that it took about 70 minutes until the first meal was on the table. Even when we slowly came to the end of our meal after about an hour and a half, the service became nervous again and tried to get rid of us (at least politely this time). The ambience is okay, maybe it was in the corner where we were sitting but it was incredibly loud so it wasn't possible to have a comfortable conversation....

arrogant and distanced atmosphere. It doesn't fit to this neighbourhood in Friedrichshain at all. Me and several friends of mine tried the place bc it sounded different at first, but we were faced with cold atmosphere and interior much too bright and uncomfortable, unkind employees and a ridiculous time limit on the table we had although the place was not full while we were there. Good customer service is sadly as important as the food with such a big choice around this area. Wouldn't recommend it at all, there are much better and nicer places around, where they know how to cook and treat the customer nicely at the same time. Ps: I have also read the other 1 star ratings for the place and the place answers all of them in a threatening way, pretending they are all false. I doubt so many clients can have the same points of criticism for a small place like that but ok. :) Apparently someone cannot take criticism.

Culinary exceptionally good! The cooking here is done with an incredible amount of love and authenticity. It makes sense to reserve as it is often full to capacity. Price/performance ratio has rarely been so good in Berlin!

Very impossible staff! We weren't allowed to order anything just because we didn't reserve a table, even though we only wanted to order drinks to go. The lady with the glasses who was in charge outside took the menu from under my grandmother's nose and said thank you very much. Very cheeky

Absolutely excellent home style food! 🤩Everything was very tasty and this is easily one of the best Thai places I’ve eaten at in Germany. The ambience of the restaurant is modest and prices are on the higher side but the chicken mince and southern beef curry entrees were both excellent. The sticky rice in the sticky rice + mango dessert was equally good. 🤪 The owner even came to check on how our food was and told us about how the food was homestyle and from recipes of his grandma — which was rather sweet. My only issue with my whole meal experience here was not related to food. The owner spoke with us for about 12-15 mins and kept addressing/speaking to my guy friend and wouldn’t address or look at me at all while speaking. It may have not been intentional, but it’s really offensive that I was blocked out or not spoken to even when I was complimenting the restaurant and food. I know this is a cultural commonplace in some parts of Asia (to speak to the ‘men’ at the table) but I hope the owner can take this feedback and be conscious of this the next time he’s speaking with customers, that also include women 🙂

Unapologetically authentic Thai restaurant that serves proper spicy levels and umami flavours. The menu even comes with a spice warning and the kitchen wont compromise their food for your intolerance to spice. I LOVE that they don't ask you 'how spicy do you want your food'. Nada. Just authentic, spicy, flavourful and fresh Thai food. Small place, prior reservation would be recommended. It is Cash only. The prices are super reasonable for both the food and drinks. Expect a time limit on your table since it is a small place so they do need to rotate the tables for service. But it's fine since the service is efficient and you won't feel rushed to finish your food.

I've been going to Larb Koi for years and just realised I've never actually left a review for them. It's one of my absolute favourite restaurants and never disappoints. The food is always impeccably prepared and the service is excellent. The drinks selection (especially the wine available) is also great. Take a group of friends, order everything, you won't regret it.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend in diesem Lokal, kleine Karte (einen Stern Abzug, da es keinerlei vegetarische Gerichte gibt, auf Nachfrage habe ich mein Essen ohne Garnelen bekommen), sehr schmackhaft und nicht mit einer Thai Imbissbude zu vergleichen, Portionen sind ok, preislich ein wenig ambitioniert aber dafür bekommt man auch sehr gute Qualität geboten. Super freundlicher Service. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Visiting Larb Koi was a long time coming. All of my Thai friends have been recommending it and I’m glad I finally got to try. The food overall was so so so good. It was the real Thai home cooking but more refined. Here were what I had: 🦪 Oysters with Thai seafood sauce - these hit the right spot! Oysters were fresh and sweet paired with spicy and sour seafood sauce - match made in heaven. 🐔 Kua Kling aka southern style dry-fried curry with chicken. The curry paste was sooo fragrant and the heat level was nice. I secretly hoped to cry from the spiciness but I didn’t so I wish it was even spicier 🔥🌶🔥 🐟 Salmon salad with fermented fish sauce - fresh salmon with spicy funky umami sauce, what’s not to love? 🍖 Braised pork ribs - the meat was soft and falling of the bone. The sauce was garlicky and peppery. These honestly tasted so nostalgic, just like what I grew up eating. The drinks and dessert aren’t to be overlooked. Order the classic Thai tea or if you feel risqué enough, order their house-made moonshine 😉 The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant isn’t big so better make a reservation ahead of time especially on weekends. The price here is on a pricy side but it was worth every cent. Highly highly recommended!

Einer der besten thailändischen Restaurants in Berlin. Ich war schon mehr mals dort. Der kross gebackene Fisch ist mein absoluter Favorit sowie die Austern. Man sollte unbedingt reservieren. Das Restaurant ist recht klein und hat nur bedingt Kapazitäten. Außerdem ist es immer gut besucht. Preis-Leistung ist top.

Jewel in Berlin food scene. For the longest time, Berlin asian cuisine consist of watered down pan asian imbis and restaurants with identical menu. Things have changed, at least for thai cuisine, one of them new jewels is Larb Koi. I pretty much love everything the chef makes, but i mainly go here for high quality thai seafood. Fried sea bass with southern thai curry, thai raw salmon salad, oyster with nam jin sauce perfectly accompanied with the best stir fried morning glory and thai iced tea in the city. They also perfected typical thai dish like beef curry and pad krapao. Don’t get too stuck up about not being able to order the octopus if it’s your first time there, I haven’t even tried it and I don’t feel like I’m missing out. Real thai flavors cooked with quality ingredients, that’s the highlight here.
