La Vita è Bella in Freiburg im Breisgau

Four friends from Hamburg in Opfingen. A visit is a must. By far the tastiest thing I've eaten in an Italian restaurant. Very hospitable and accommodating. We even got to participate in the local Oktoberfest. A fantastic experience. We'd love to go back again.

The food was pleasant, especially the steak. The service was excellent and the food was freshly prepared.

A simple salad with turkey strips. Super delicious! The meat was perfect, cooked to perfection, and well-seasoned. The dressing was homemade and delicious! Everything was fresh and crispy. I'm absolutely thrilled.

Great food, friendly service, what more could you want? Prices are a bit high, but the quality is really reasonable.

Great ambience, friendly service

We called and asked if the kitchen was still open because we knew it was already late – "Yes, if you're there in 15 minutes." We arrived after 10 minutes. We sat down. No one came. No service, no one to be seen. After a few minutes, we went looking for someone ourselves. At some point, a woman appeared from the far corner after we called for someone five times. She silently handed us cards and said, "The chef has already made everything, I'll ask." Then she came back: Only pinsa was possible because we were supposedly "five minutes late." I explained to her that we were actually early, but there was simply no one there. Her reaction? "I was just taking a little break." Okay, but not when you know you've assured guests they're still welcome to eat and won't let the chef turn everything off. Instead of understanding, there was an unfriendly remark along the lines of: "Either you eat pinsa or look somewhere else to see if you can get something." We then got up and ate somewhere else. The woman apparently didn't even know what excuses to make up anymore – her expression and stuttering made it pretty clear that she knew she was wrong. Even better: The lady appeared in a tank top and miniskirt. If the tone is questionable, one could at least appear professional. This was the best risotto frutti di mare of my life. The staff was very polite and attentive. I will be back. The price-performance ratio is reasonable and justifiable for the culinary delight.

I had dinner with my family and a family of friends in this excellent Italian restaurant. For an Italian, eating well in an Italian restaurant abroad is a rarity, but that's what happened to us at La vita e' bella. Warm, familiar environment, courteous and attentive service, but the quid pluris is the chef-owner, the kind Mr. Antonio: welcoming, very polite, full of useful information and very good at his job. He made us eat a spaghetti with garlic, oil and chilli pepper with the addition of some cherry tomatoes to add (a variation of the traditional recipe) which was truly mouth-watering. If we add to everything a very honest bill, less than €15 per person, we will understand why when we return to these parts, we will definitely return to this place.

You can eat very tasty Italian food, we will definitely be back!

Very cozy atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming service. The food is absolutely delicious, no matter what you order. We always enjoy coming here regularly.

La Vita è Bella is a nice, atmospheric restaurant that brings the Italian atmosphere to Freiburg. The food is delicious, although a bit on the pricier side (which makes sense given the proximity to the Swiss border). The service is friendly, but quickly becomes stressed when busy. We recommend the bruschetta and the pinsa. Please note that you cannot pay with credit or non-German debit cards.

Super nice restaurant, really good food, it's worth going there often.

We asked for drinking water on our bike tour. In 33 degree heat there isn't even drinking water for cyclists - we were rejected. Incredible service… Thanks for nothing!

Nice pizzeria with a nice atmosphere. The service was very friendly. No credit cards are accepted, only EC cards or cash. But there is a bank nearby. Bruschetta and the Pinsa are recommended :)

Very good food, nice staff, large portions.

We found space there with 11 people for 3 days in a row, including 2 days without a reservation. That deserves praise. Food was excellent and we didn't have to wait long for our pasta, pizzas and salads. Many thanks to the chef at this point!!! However, what was simply annoying by the third evening at the latest was the owner's extremely high stress level, who made us feel like we were unwanted for a long time with gestures and useless comments when serving and cashing in, which "somewhat" frustrated us as paying guests.

Very tasty food with fresh ingredients, well prepared. Portions are large, you will definitely be full. Price-performance ratio is great. And now comes the but. The service is a disaster. I have never experienced anything so stressed, unfriendly and annoyed. Eyes roll as soon as you order. And then I read on the homepage that she is also the owner. That is not how it works. You definitely have to work on it.

Very friendly hospitality in a cozy atmosphere. Fast service and responded to our special orders. We all enjoyed the food.

La Vita e' Bella is a good Italian restaurant. We've eaten here several times. Now the owner knows what we want to eat and drink and we feel even more comfortable

Everything was super tasty, super nice service

By far the worst restaurant I have ever been to. From the reservation onwards, contact was very distant. When we arrived we found out that the restaurant doesn't accept credit cards. After all, it is the year 2024!!! Finally, given our pouting, the owner tells us that if we are not satisfied, we can leave the restaurant, which we did without any regrets.

Charming restaurant in a village near Freiburg im Breisgau. Even though I arrived close to closing time, the service was attentive, and the food was excellent. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and located on a quiet street. I need to go back to explore the rest of the menu.

Great food well cooked! Rarely have I had such a good risotto and the starter was simply great, freshly prepared. The service was quick, but not really in a good mood, rolling your eyes in the service is out of place.

Entgegen manch Negativ Bewertungen finde ich den Laden super. Sehr authentisch, der Antonio (mein Namensvetter) zaubert euch wunderbar authentische italo Küche. Die Qualität und Quantität bei den Vorspeisen sind der Hammer. Die Preise für die Pinsen sind mehr als Fair. Bringt etwas Geduld mit weil hier ist es Personell ein bisschen kleiner aber dafür Familiärer und schließlich soll man hier verweilen können und es genießen (Kein Fast Food sondern Restaurant). Ich bin sehr zufrieden und werde wieder kommen, ohne Auto leider nicht so oft aber ich komme :)

Wir kennen Frau Watz schon seit Jahren, haben ihr neues Lokal endlich gefunden und waren so was von angenehm überrascht! Es war alles super, Preis- Leistung ist sehr gut 👍 👍 👍

Die Bedienung konnte kaum deutsch sprechen und hat uns bei der Bezahlung zu wenig Geld zurückgegeben. Einmal und nie wieder in diesen Laden.

Super lecker und gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, die Bedienung ist freundlich und schnell! Lachsfilet mit Gemüse ist perfekt gebraten und die Portion ausreichend gross! Weiter so!!!

Gemütliches Lokal. Pizza Salat und Lasange schmecken sehr gut.

Der zweite Besuch fiel deutlich besser aus. Essen, Getränke, Ambiente und Service waren sehr gut. Das Angebot auf der Speisekarte ist solide, die Pizza nebst Beilagensalat war es ebenfalls. Jetzt alle Sterne. Der erste Besuch fiel durchschnittlich aus. Wein, Wasser und Service waren ok,. Die Vorspeisenplatte hatte noch viel Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten nach oben. Aller Anfang ist schwer... Eine weitere Einkehr in naher Zukunft steht an und wir schauen dann nochmal tief in die Speisekarte. Bis dahin 3 Sterne.

Ausgesprochen gute Küche. Besonders zu empfehlen ist das Rumpsteak sowie die Salate und Nudelgerichte. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Eine echte Bereicherung für Opfingen.
