Ristorante La Mucca in Freiburg im Breisgau

I went to La Mucca with friends for dinner. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service, however, could be improved. We were all sitting with empty glasses and only after I asked if we could get anything to drink were we able to order anything. The waiters didn't ask if we wanted dessert or an espresso, etc. This kind of service is frustrating and makes you wonder if you'd want to return. Also, it was the first time I'd ever had to pay €20 per person with my credit card when making a reservation through OpenTable. This was taken into account when we paid, but it's a bit complicated if everyone pays separately and you haven't spent €60.

Excellent in every way... finding refined Italian dishes is not easy... but in this restaurant it was a triumph... congratulations to the helpful and courteous owners!!! If you're passing through Freiburg and are homesick, this place is for you!! Congratulations 👏👏👏👏👏

Best restaurant we've eaten at in a long time!! We got a table at short notice for New Year's Eve, the service was very attentive, and the food was fantastic.

Beautiful restaurant with an elegant ambiance and delicious food! The service was quick and friendly. The dishes are beautifully presented. It's a good sign that you can see into the kitchen. Overall, it's a bit pricey, but the quality is excellent. Update: On our second visit, we ordered the truffle spaghetti served in a Parmesan wheel and were very disappointed. It tasted neither of Parmesan nor of truffle. Furthermore, the staff wasn't very understanding. Given the price, we unfortunately have to deduct two stars.

We went to this restaurant with friends and my wife just before Christmas – and what we experienced was an absolute disgrace. The start was unprofessional from the very beginning: The Italian appetizer for four people was served before the aperitif. That's simply unacceptable in a restaurant. The main courses were the next low point: 2 x Spaghetti alla Pescatore Focaccia 2 x Ravioli with Ricotta and Spinach None of these dishes had anything remotely resembling authentic Italian cuisine. The Spaghetti alla Pescatore was even served with egg pasta – a clear mistake that simply doesn't happen in Italian cooking. The Ravioli were also far from the original recipe. We also ordered Spaghetti Carbonara as a main course for our 6-year-old granddaughter. This was served with an excessive amount of pepper – completely unsuitable for a child and utterly irresponsible. When we calmly and objectively addressed the owner/manager about this, the situation escalated completely. He reacted aggressively, arrogantly, and disrespectfully. We were accused of being clueless, told that this was how they cooked in Northern Italy, and that our complaint was unnecessary. I pointed out that I myself had run an Italian restaurant for many years and know very well how these dishes are prepared. His tone then became even more insolent: He boasted about having cooked in a Michelin-starred restaurant, declared categorically that we, from Southern Italy, had no understanding of Italian cuisine, and topped it all off by demanding that we pay the bill and leave the premises. Such behavior towards guests is unacceptable, unprofessional, and shameful. I myself worked in the restaurant industry for many years – and such behavior would never have occurred in my establishment. In short: Bad food, no understanding whatsoever, just arrogance and disrespectful behavior. We and our friends will definitely never set foot in this restaurant again. One of the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had. 👎👎👎👎

Wow, a fantastic Italian restaurant. I highly recommend it. I can recommend it to everyone.

With a lot of goodwill, 4 stars. The antipasti platter was below average; the eggplant was bone dry, the olives tasteless, and the cheese wasn't anything special. My wife would have left half of it. My grilled vegetables were decent, as was the carbonara. It could have used a bit more pasta water to make it more creamy. Service was quick, but with a few minor flaws. The bread with garlic butter was forgotten, and I had to order a beer separately. Prices were okay, except for the son's small octopus for €19, which was a joke. We were glad to have found a restaurant on Christmas Eve, but we wouldn't go back.

It was noisy, and the food didn't meet the standard one would expect from a restaurant in this price range. The service was inattentive, and after 9 p.m. it became clear that everyone wanted to call it a day. A shame, we were looking forward to good Italian food and were disappointed.

We had a reservation for about 20 people, and I had previously heard negative things about the food and, to some extent, the service from three unrelated acquaintances. I hadn't mentioned this to my group; I wanted to be able to judge and let others judge without bias. The result was worse than I had feared. Both main courses from the pre-selected menu were served at very, very different times, mostly cold, and tasted—even for a particularly uninspired Italian restaurant—significantly below average. The service always seemed overwhelmed (despite the reservation!). I will definitely not be going back, and I won't hesitate to share my opinion if asked about La Mucca. The service and the kitchen were both very poor.

Really satisfied with this place, quality food and very kind staff. I had the tagliolini with parmesan and truffle, it was out of this world 😋 Highly recommended!

If you dream of Italian cuisine in Freiburg, then you must eat at "La mucca." A large, spacious restaurant, friendly and helpful staff, and five-star cuisine. A rich and varied menu for all tastes.

The food was very delicious. The Staff were very friendly, welcoming and delightful. Our overall experience was fantastic and would like to dine there again! 👌😊

Very friendly, if a little pushy, service; we were asked three times while choosing from the menu whether we had already decided. The food we ordered was freshly prepared and served within 15 minutes. While the prices for the food were reasonable considering the quality, freshness, and the show (e.g., the taggliolini, which is prepared in a Parmesan wheel), the prices for water and soft drinks were sometimes unreasonably high. For example, €3.60 for a 0.2L Coke or €7.10 for a 0.75L bottle of still water. Overall: highly recommended.

I think the information Google provides about the cost per person isn't accurate. It cost us at least double the amount reported. And we didn't eat meat.

Expensive and good, great atmosphere and great service, including child-friendly service. I found the drink prices to be overpriced; for example, a 0.2 l Coke costs €3.80. We had a bit of a communication problem with the friendly staff. We were a bit confused that we were only given an *interim bill* when it came to the checkout. Even when we asked, they said it was fine (of course, it isn't; just google it).

A very disappointing experience. The risotto was cold and undercooked. When we asked for clarification about the incorrect bill, the restaurant manager, Luca, became aggressive. He claimed that he and his wife were the owners, snatched the bill from our hands, shouted loudly, banged on the table, and disrespectfully threw us out. Absolutely not recommended – poor service and unprofessional behavior.

A really good Italian restaurant with delicious food and friendly service. Great value for money!

I ordered a pizza with salmon and arugula. Shortly after eating, I experienced severe gastrointestinal symptoms that were very reminiscent of salmonella poisoning (including nausea, diarrhea, and cramps). I would like to emphasize that I have no known intolerances or allergies and have not experienced any other health problems after eating. It's obviously difficult to definitively identify a cause, but I would like to use this as a precautionary warning to others and hope that the hygiene conditions in the kitchen are checked – especially with perishable ingredients like fish.

Cozy place, very kind staff and delicious food! I had a pinsa with mortadella burrata and pistachios and what can I say it was delicious! The dough was really light like the one we eat in Rome! Truly a beautiful experience, a corner of Italy in Freiburg :)

An einem warmen Mai-Abend sassen meine Frau und ich draussen unterm Schirm und waren von der Küche sehr angetan. Endlich mal wieder richtig gutes Vitello tonnato mit gutem Brot – eindeutig komplett selbst gemacht, in guter Menge. Danach genossen wir 2 Pinsa Burrata San Daniele rucola e pachino, die einfach herausragend gut waren. Allerdings auch so sättigend, dass wir auf ein Desssert verzichten mussten. Deutlich besser als in einer Pizzeria auch die Weinauswahl. Mein Bramito, ein Chardonnay des renommierten Weinguts Castello della Sala passte hervorragend. Das Service-Team (3 Männer, davon einer in der Probezeit) war zwar leicht chaotisch, aber immer freundlich. Insgesamt eine gute Adresse. Wenn wir mal wieder in Freiburg sind: Gerne wieder!

Wir waren bereits öfter hier im LaMucca Essen, da die Küche wirklich gut ist, insbesondere die selber gemachte Pasta sowie die Pinsa !! Freuen uns auf den nächsten Besuch !

We've already eaten there for lunch and dinner. It's always delicious. The pasta is homemade. The carbonara like in Italy. I don't think you can find parmesan pasta anywhere else in Freiburg. The pizza with buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes, rocket and San Daniele ham is awesome! Our new favorite Italian. Make a reservation urgently on the weekend. Very crowded

Unfortunately not 5 stars... I had the spaghetti in parmesan with truffle, unfortunately I wasn't told that I had to pay extra for the white truffle. I was also allowed to pay 0.50 cents for the take-away bowl. The big disappointment and surprise when paying... the staff should really communicate openly when they offer the white truffle as if it were the same price as a black truffle. Still great atmosphere and delicious food.

The pizza I picked up was delicious, and the staff was very friendly. They don't just have the standard pizzas, but also have different combinations, which I really liked.

Mega tasty, courteous staff, we got a nice seat even without a reservation.

The restaurant manager is unbeatable in terms of unfriendliness and arrogance, as well as being greedy for money. We had reserved a table for four, unfortunately two friends canceled at short notice, so that's when the mood started. We then went to our table, when he came he told us to sit next to each other, the reason for this was that he wanted to sit some more with us. I then said that I didn't want that because that was our reservation. So he said we should leave the restaurant, which was actually our idea at the entrance, because of the impudent behavior. Conclusion Outside great, inside yucky.

As soon as we arrived at the door, the manager of the restaurant was unfriendly and condescending. Missed career, I would say. The website is so beautifully designed that we really wanted to go there. That was the biggest mistake of the evening. When we said we were only two people out of the original four, we were immediately treated condescendingly. We still sat down at our reserved table. When the rude gentleman said we had to move up because he could add someone else, we didn't want to and were asked to leave the restaurant. Conclusion: Didn't even try the food, good thing I saved 200 euros that evening. The manager doesn't give a damn about anything there....I've never seen such bad service and I'm a restaurateur and know what I'm talking about. It sucks there.

The restaurant is modern and warmly decorated. The waitresses are very friendly (also child-friendly). We were even able to pre-order the food for the little one. Unfortunately a mistake was made and a meal was received incorrectly. However, it tastes really good. The prices were okay. In my opinion a little too high for what was offered. Disgusting food: it’s not Italian food, it’s some junk pretending to be Italian cuisine. Waiter tried to cheat and changed us extra drinks.

Good place to eat. Had a great antipasti platter as a starter followed by truffle pasta. Prices are okay, parking is possible nearby. The atmosphere is also quite pleasant, especially outside in summer

The ambience has a bit of a “train station hall” feel to it. Food ok for the price range. Very nice service. 🍀🍀 But actually you come to eat. You can sometimes, but not more often.

Very dignified Italian restaurant right next to the Hotel Stadt Freiburg. The service and quality of the food was very good. Any time.

Here is a suggested review: Very disappointing - never again! We had never experienced such a bad restaurant visit as here. First of all, we were presented with the wrong lunch menu, which can happen. But instead of clarifying the problem in a friendly manner, the manager of the house reacted in an extremely unprofessional manner. A small disagreement about the order escalated to such an extent that we ended up being expelled from the restaurant - and in an absolutely rude, disrespectful manner. Being insulted as a “choleric” guest is not only insulting, but also speaks volumes about how customers are treated. The behavior was not only impossible but also a bad image for a restaurant that claims to offer Italian hospitality. Unfortunately I can't rate the food because we had to leave the restaurant early. But if I treat customers like this, I definitely won't come back. Absolutely not recommended!

Beautiful restaurant, but service and food terrible. We were very impressed at first, after we had to wait 1 hour for our drinks. At 30° the food arrived at some point. I ordered the truffle pasta, which tasted nothing like Parmesan, was cold and really didn't taste like anything. I think the bartender served me my pasta. When I pointed out that my pasta was cold and really didn't taste like parmesan, he put my pasta, which I had already tasted, back into the parmesan body. And Then put them back on my plate. They were still cold and the second round in the Parmesan body didn't have a different taste either. It's a real shame. Pizza was okay, nothing special. I would have expected more for the price.

La Mucca ist ein echter und sehr guter Italiener, im Sommer perfekt zum draussen sitzen, wenns kalt ist sehr gut auch innen, der Service ist sehr gut und aufmerksam, die Karte interessant. Vitelli Tornado exzellent und Spagetti aus dem Parmesan serviert, einfach super !!

Unfortunately our expectations were not met. When I think of authentic cuisine, I imagine something different. Unfortunately, our nice criticism was not responded to.

In comparison, it was a slightly higher priced Italian, so we had quite high expectations. Ambiance: the outside area in particular could have been made nicer, unfortunately you don't feel like you're in Italy here. Everything great. Really great. The only disadvantage is that there are actually no parking spaces in the surrounding area. If you arrive with the Straba, you just have to cross the street and you'll be there straight away. 👍👍👍

It is not a tourist area, but it says a lot of local habits: legere, people come from around, enjoy the summer evening…staff is italian and german spoken, really nice and you get a great food for a fair price: very freiburg-like.

Unfortunately I didn't get enough. 4 very thin ravioloni is a bit flimsy. It's homemade and doesn't taste bad, but for €17 I expect something better and, above all, that I'll be full. It's a shame, I probably won't go there again, even though it's nice to sit there.

We have eaten at La Mucca several times. But this time the service was simply bad. There were 3 of us and 2 people got the pizza after 30 minutes and the third person was told off that it would take a while. Reason: something went wrong in the kitchen and the food was forgotten. After we canceled the meal because the other people were finished and we had another appointment, the service person came to us and said that nothing had gone wrong, that everything was freshly prepared and that you had to wait at least 30 minutes for it Waiting for food. When I expressed my displeasure that this wasn't possible, that one part got their food and the other had to wait, I was dismissed as unfriendly. I have been working in the catering industry for years and have also learned there and that is part of the small 1x1 that the table gets the food when it is closed. Afterwards we were ignored, so we had to go to the counter ourselves to pay. Conclusion: service terrible!!!

Wir sind immer gerne ins La Mucca gewesen. I habe ganz normal zum Geburtstag meines Sohnes reserviert und wir sind mit unseren zwei Kinder hin. Der vertraute leckere Duft hat uns daran erinnert, wieso wir genau dort zu seinem 7. Geburtstag hin wollten- die leckere Antipasti und Pizza. Leider waren wir total unhöflich begrüsst. Nach eine halbe Stunde kam die Bedienung total unfreundlich mit der Speisekarte. Auf meinem Wunsch schneller zu bestellen, weil die Kinder Hunger haben und wir bereit sind zu bestellen, kam einen trockenen Kommentar: für 70 Leute wäre er da und wenn es uns nicht passt, sollen wir woanders hin. Sehr Schade! Trotz gutes Essen und leckere Weine, kommen wir nie wieder. Alles Gute!

Everything was very nice, except for the service. You can't come hungry, it It can take a very long time until the card is even delivered. Then comes the recommendation to go somewhere else if you don't have to wait an hour... It's a shame never again

The starter was okay, the homemade ravioli was delicious, the fish plate had too much oil. Overall the food was satisfactory. The service was also okay. However, I won't be staying there again - having to endure such musical annoyance from the speakers in an Italian restaurant that is "upscale" is torture on many levels. In the end, I went home strained - even the 13-year-old child who was there and who consumes modern sounds said he was strained. No - I don't want to spend an evening like that again that cost more than €100.

Had the Parmesan pasta with pesto, tossed it in the Parmesan for 1 minute and was absolutely delicious! I noticed the service as particularly attentive but not intrusive. The table next door had to wait a little longer for their food than we did, but from what I can tell from the staff there, that will probably be the exception. The furnishings with an open kitchen and modern ambience are also pleasing, keep it up La Mucca!

The best meal I have eaten at an Italian restaurant. Homemade ravioli with crab meat filling. Antipasti and hazelnut tiramisu. Simply delicious. Waiters extremely competent and friendly. Without seeming intrusive. Simply always with very good suggestions and courteous to the guests. Perfect!

Very tasty Italian food. The homemade pasta and pizzas are particularly recommended. Very nice staff and despite the restaurant being full there was a pleasant, not too loud atmosphere on Saturday evening. We'll be back😊

Pizza is very tasty...when serving, the woman is very aggressive and verbally attacks you. You can also speak to customers in a normal tone, you don't have to shout at them and slam their plates full of karracho on the table so that the drinks almost fly to the floor.
