La Sepia in Berlin

No son españoles.! Demasiado caro para lo que te ponen. La cazuela de pescado , estaba buena. La ensalada de plástico , sin aliño.

Langversion: Als Deutsch sprechender Spanier auf Reisen in Berlin freute ich mich auf spanische Küche. Das „La Sepia“ bewirbt sich medial als spanisch-portugiesisches Fischrestaurant. Zahlreiche Fischgerichte auf der Karte. Das Personal nett, Kommunikation wenig, denn weder Spanisch, noch Englisch und kaum Deutsch. Qualität der Speisen „mittelprächtig“, zwar nicht annähernd spanische Küche, aber mehr oder weniger genießbar. Preise allerdings deutlich überhöht. In Berlin dürfte es gewiss gute spanische Lokale geben. Das „La Sepia“ gehört m.E. nicht dazu.

When disappointment comes after setting certain expectations... The rather fair deal... The speed was more than short, 50 minutes to serve us the dishes that you can see in the photos, and no, they were not full, there were about 20 people in total, they served 3 tables before ours... Well, the quantities, you judge. Total disappointment, with this Spanish restaurant... in Berlin.

The food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive.

So we didn't like it. The service is terrible. There is no water bowl for your fingers for shrimp and lobster (even if you ask) and the bowls are left in front of you for ages.

A pleasant Spanish restaurant with a solid menu, attentive service and fair prices. Unfortunately, we weren't entirely impressed by the taste of the dishes - it lacked that certain something and the quality of my tuna steak was rather average. However, the complaint was taken seriously in the kitchen. Therefore a better rating.

Cheap and not very cheerful. We ordered a number of starters, many of them tasted as though they had been frozen. We both had fish as our main course, it was fine, a bit overcooked but ok. The atmosphere wasn’t great. When we tried to order coffee we were told the machine had been turned off - we weren’t the last there and it wasn’t very late. Poor selection of wine.

We waited too much, 2 hours just for drinks. It wasn't the weekend on Monday...

The owner of this restaurant is unbeatable in terms of unfriendliness and becomes aggressive towards the guests. Stay away from this store!

Value for money restaurant. They are trying to meet customer's needs. Food is o.k especially seafood. But meat is not as good as seafood. Please try to avoid busy time between 7 and 8pm considering the lack of waiters for serving.

Das Essen und das Ambiente waren hervorragend! Von der Vorspeise bis zum Dessert waren alle Speisen super frisch. Dazu hin ist das Restaurant sehr einladend. Der Service war überaus zuvorkommend und freundlich. Definitiv ein Besuch wert. Man sollte definitiv reservieren ! Hier wird man nicht enttäuscht. Wir kommen wieder.

Perfect service, good food. A great Spanish evening.

Lured by the good-sounding menu and the good reviews, we ended up here. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. The food was bland (grilled octopus, boquerones fritos, mereguez, calamari). Sometimes it gave the impression that the food had been reheated. The price-performance ratio was correspondingly inconsistent at €70 for 2 people.

Everything was great, the ambience, the music, the waiters, the food, the boss who also takes care of his clientele and the price was definitely fair and affordable, not like many other restaurants that charge more but the service and food are less good A visit to la Sepia is always worth it and recommended to everyone

The food is expensive but not delicious.

The tapas bar La Sepia gave us a friendly welcome even shortly before the kitchen closed. Despite the late hour, there were delicious tapas that made the short stay absolutely worth it. A pleasant stop before we moved on. Gladly again!

Very friendly and accommodating. The food is very tasty and the menu has a very good selection. I had the octopus and it was very tasty. Sitting outside with the music creates a nice ambience in the middle of the city in the evening.

Sehr gutes Restaurant mit üppig bestückter Fischtheke. Tolle Speisekarte, ich wusste gar nicht, was ich nehmen sollte, so viele Gerichte hatten mich angesprochen. Am Ende wurde es die Zarzuela, die ganz toll war und eine Seafood Paella, die mehr Safran hätte vertragen können, aber auch gut war.

Op zoek naar een leuke eettent in hartje Berlijn kwamen we La Sepia tegen. Zeer gevarieerde kaart met veel vis, schaal en schelpdieren. Hebben uitstekende sardientjes, inktvis, dorade en gamba’s gegeten. Alles super vers. Veel oog voor de details, zoals dat de gevarieerde groente als bijlage perfect beetgaar waren of dat de espresso in hete kopjes werd geserveerd. Al met al een absolute aanrader!

We order seafood and they bring fish, but even so it was very good and the Málaga waiter a 10.

Was here yesterday with my wife and our friend. The service was good, friendly and unobtrusive. The starter platter was good, the fish platter was good, the tuna was too well done for me, but otherwise great. The pasta with scampi and mussels was also good, but I still wasn't entirely convinced.

It was ok in my opinion. Fish soup: fish was fresh, portion was small. Price value is off. Taste wise more tomatoy like an Italian tomato soup. Crab sticks: nice crunch, it’s not crab meat from the claw but more stuffed, mushed meat. I’d order that again Seezunge: price value off. Would skip next time. Sepia: not bad, four pieces but nothing special really also skip Paella: was nice, a bit too heavy on peas for my taste but overall I’d say the best dish we’ve had this evening. But also a 7/10 max. Mussels in white wine sauce: i wished for it to be more creamy or somewhat more special, was too boring for me. The caterpillar fish dish in red soupy white wine tomato base had only small amounts of fish. Steak: Not sure why it’s on the menu, you could make better steak at home. Overall portions are not as big and for price value I’d expect more. Taste wise it’s ok but not wow. Not something I’d come back for or would crave.

Unfortunately, the tapas were pretty bland and mediocre at best. The beer was at room temperature. Ambiance outside is well... The persona, on the other hand, was very nice and quick!

Very good experience with the entire work team, after a few months in Germany it was a good gastronomic experience being Germany And the waiter's treatment was actually very good.

Tapas were delicious especially the pimientos, merguez and patatas bravas. Also had mussels which were superb. Restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. A lovely spot for a relaxing lunch. 5 stars.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this Spanish restaurant and I have to say it was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The food is simply outstanding - every dish we tried was a real feast for the senses. The flavors were authentic and perfectly balanced, and the presentation was also a feast for the eyes. The staff was just amazing! From the greeting to the farewell, we were treated with kindness and professionalism. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff's recommendations were always on point. It was obvious that they love their work and take pride in providing their guests with a great experience. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit!

La Sepia is a great Portuguese restaurant with authentic ambience and cool staff! All fish lovers are in the right place here and can enjoy delicious food! I really enjoyed it and we'll be back. Thumbs up and 5*!

We went in with suitcases and the waiter was really helpful with our luggage, watched over them while we ate. I personally joined everyone a little bit later and still got amazing service. The young waiter was friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be working there and chatting with us. He made us all happuer with his good spirits. The food was excellent. Some from our group said they had the best salad they had eaten during our stay in Berlin (they ate lots of salads during the week) and I enjoyed the rice. Simple foods that tasted amazing and the portions were big. The bathrooms were clean, and overall look of the restaurant was comfy and warm. It made us forget we're in busy street of Berlin. I loved the aquarium in the back of the restaurant. (Especially the fact it looked well kept). I would recommend this place for anyone who's after good food and a chance to relax a bit in the middle of the shopping.

The service is ok, they try. Red wine from the bottle too warm. Cold tapas - there wasn't even any ham next to the Spanish one. Manchego very tasty. Olive oil, served only on request - tasteless - rapeseed oil or, at best, pomace oil. Swordfish - not fresh, so to confuse it, it was fried to a crisp. Frozen vegetables. I don't recommend it, for your own good.

The restaurant has changed ownership, probably several times in the last few years. When we first had dinners here, it was more like a Spanish and Portuguese restaurant. The menu was more authentic. Now the restaurant sees itself more located in the Mediterranean cuisine, which of course stretches from Spain to the Lebanon. The menu, though, from the cover photograph with the Portuguese azulejos to the contents, wants to be Spanish and Portuguese. Given that many of the components of the dishes can be obtained thanks to Spanish vegetable exports (fresh) and extensive deep frozen products, you would think that cooking these ingredients to a Spanish and Portuguese standard shouldn't be all that hard. Well, we were disappointed by the lack of refinement in the starters and the main courses. The boquerones fritos weren't crisp, the pulpo à la Gallega was ok, the grilled chorizo was ok, but all three starters were on the meagre side in terms of portions. If a restaurant wants to be like the authentic ones, then the portions sizes should be the same too. For the main course we ordered a paella mixta and the rape en la Cataplana. While they both tasted OK, in its consistency, the paella was more like a risotto, and the cataplana lacked vegetables and creaminess. For people, who haven't been to either Portugal or Spain, this restaurant could be an introduction, but for connoisseurs, it falls short and disappoints to the extent, that one is not encouraged to return. A pity. A further, not unimportant detail is the rather short list of wines. There is no reason not to have a broad range of both Portuguese or Spanish wines on offer, since these are also readily available in Germany. The vinho verde that we had was very good, but, again, for connoisseurs, there is a large range of wines available from the Iberian peninsula that aren't expensive, especially given the apparent ambition that the restaurant seems to have.

We visited this restaurant on two occasions, the staff is very attentive and friendly. The food is very delicious, the waiters are rich but they are not originally prepared as its title on the Menu (Shrimp with garlic), but the rest of the dishes are wow a delight, The Galician-style octopus, the mixed shells , the Sepia 100% recommended.

I was greeted very friendly and the service was pleasantly professional. The food was authentic and very tasty! Clear recommendation for good Spanish/Portuguese cuisine and a good wine in a pleasant atmosphere!

We spent a very nice evening here with good food, wine and beer, the service was good, unfortunately we couldn't pay with a card because the WiFi wasn't stable, but there is an ATM opposite so it wasn't a problem

Pleasant atmosphere: Spanish decor, Latin music, delicious Spanish food. You can find fresh fish and seafood dishes on the menu. Exceptional service. Very nice and attentive to your needs. Don't wait long for food. I recommend! A good choice for dinner.

Family food was very good... very friendly atmosphere and excellent service

The portions were really small and inadequate compared to other restaurants and the price of the wines was strangely too high, which we couldn't understand because they weren't "gourmet wine" at all... The atmosphere also disappointed us. We weren't even full even though we paid too much, so we don't recommend it.

It is a wonderful restaurant with amazing flavors on its menu and incredibly courteous service. Seafood spaghetti is unique. The little surprise she gave my son after dinner was very nice. If you come to Berlin, you should definitely eat here.

Exciting menu, service with a very large personality, and above all, great food. We had the mussel soup and the salmon salad, and both were quite excellent. Service was lightning-fast.

We were visiting our old homeland again and discovered the restaurant by chance, we were really excited about the food. As a starter we had oysters, 3 different tapas and bread with aioli. For the main course we had paella with pollo and a grilled fish platter and for dessert we had Creme Catalan. Everything was really delicious. Always my pleasure.

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the mixed mussels in white wine sauce, which are really fresh and served together with mainly mussels, some clams and the huge green shell mussels. I only knew the latter from the Marlborough Sounds in Australia, but was informed that they are now also bred in Scotland. As good as. Definitely try it 😋

We left sad and disappointed. Garlic prawns were not more than 9 pieces, gummy, undercooked and not garlicky at all. We had as well a Mixed Grill Platter … everything was dry and tasted like nothing. We wouldn’t come back, neither we would suggest it to anybody. We didn’t want to embarrass the waiters, really good and caring, but the food made the experience terrible and we regretted having spent money there.

The clams were mostly empty and broken, which resulted in us chewing on clam shells. The waitress snatched the plate from me, even though they weren't all finished yet. When we asked why, we were told that it looked disgusting! We had just eaten it! We left as quickly as possible and definitely won't be coming back!
