La Paz Tapas Restaurant & Weinbar in Hamburg

Without giving any reasons and without any notice, our confirmed reservation was canceled about a month ago, a good week before during Advent. This is completely unprofessional and cannot be done this way. Unfortunately, dealing with customers is not good. Something unexpected can always happen, but that's not how you do it.

Die Tapas-Bar bietet eine einladende Atmosphäre mit einer vielfältigen Auswahl an köstlichen Tapas. Die Gerichte sind frisch zubereitet und reichen von klassischen spanischen Spezialitäten bis hin zu kreativen Eigenkreationen. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die freundliche Bedienung, die stets bereit ist, Empfehlungen auszusprechen. Die Preise sind angemessen und die Portionen ausreichend. Ein idealer Ort für gesellige Abende mit Freunden oder Familie. Die Kombination aus gutem Essen und angenehmem Ambiente macht den Besuch unvergesslich.

Really very tasty! If you make a short-term online reservation, you should check by telephone to see whether the reservation has been received. That was exactly the case with us, but we were lucky and there was still something available.

Great tapas, great atmosphere and great variety of cocktails!

10/10 gastro experience! You can tell that gastronomy is lived and loved here! Every detail fits. Super sincere, nice service. And every single person. Larissa deserves special mention. The food is just so incredibly delicious. Really all we had was a 10/10. This was our second time here and we will always come back. Very cozy, atmospheric, first class food, reasonable prices, best service. Even with details like the call system, you can see how much value is placed on everything here. Tapas were great, but the selection could be more extensive. Unfortunately, the table at the entrance was a bit drafty.

The food was very tasty and was served quickly. The service was excellent. Very friendly and accommodating. The tables are a bit small and the seating is cramped. After two hours you have to clear the table. But I understand that because there is money to be made in the catering industry. The evening in La Paz was lovely and I would love to come back.

Unfortunately, the restaurant has declined significantly following a change in responsibilities a few years ago. The authentic ambience has been replaced by a cool commercial design. The owner is trying to delete negative reviews from Google Maps through a lawyer to make the restaurant appear better than it actually is. There were several of these attempts among friends. I particularly remember a visit in December 2021 when a very unfriendly waiter gave us negative and didactic comments about our wine selection. The tapas were served to us cold and the taste was rather average.

We were just there to drink wine and it was super cozy and relaxing :) The wine was delicious and the service was very attentive.

Very chic, modern tapas restaurant where we were warmly welcomed. The staff was super friendly throughout the evening and the food came very quickly. Nice selection of different tapas that not only looked very good but also tasted great. A special highlight was the homemade bread. You should definitely reserve in advance otherwise it can be difficult to get a table.

Very nice restaurant with good tapas. After only visiting once, I only know a small selection of the dishes, but our selection of tapas was really good. Friendly staff, a nice and lively location. The price is a bit high, but that's okay. Gladly again.

Hab schon einmal gepostet, leider hat das Restaurant darum gebeten mein Post zu löschen weil mir das Essen nicht geschmeckt hat :( schade. Hier also noch einmal mein alter Post: They have a really nice outside sitting area and the staff are extremely friendly and nice. The food was not my favorite, it’s the third time that I tried this restaurant and I’m definitely not impressed by the food. The food is really good looking and arranged at the plate, unfortunately it tastes okay but not really good, for my taste. But for sitting with friends for a drink 🥃 it’s a really nice place in Eimsbüttel

Edit: They took the tartare off the menu and it was by far the best thing on the menu. :( For me, a visit is no longer worth it. I can also get the other more normal tapas in other restaurants. Very special food in a nice atmosphere with courteous staff! Always happy!

We were treated unkindly several times and were thrown out at 2300 on Friday evening with the remark "just one more round and then it's over". It's a shame, we enjoyed being with you often. Unfortunately my experience this evening was very disappointing. Although the restaurant was still open for more than 1.5 hours, we were told directly by the apparent boss that we were only allowed to order a maximum of one drink. We then went straight back out. Too bad...

Nice atmosphere, great service, funny chef. Dishes marked as vegan on the menu clearly taste like cheese, whereupon the chef says: “You're at the Spanish restaurant, there's Manchego in it. Hopefully no one will die from this!” Difficult to the point of borderline, especially since the reference to this fact via email has so far remained without comment and a Google review now follows.

The two of us were there for dinner around 9:30 p.m. Service was friendly, food came quickly and was very tasty.

Cozy Spanish bar/restaurant. Appear authentic. Service is very attentive. Tappas were delicious, as was the Spanish red wine. Music wasn't too loud. Nice places inside, but also outside. We thought it was really great.

An evening I will never forget. Wonderful ambience, courteous and attentive service staff and the crowning glory: the tapas are unique in taste. Each one unique in itself. I've been to numerous Spanish restaurants, but La Paz overdelivers on all counts. I'll be back.

Very courteous staff, always on hand, created an alcohol-free version for the aperitif. The tapas are a culinary delight and are worth every penny. Loving ambience, large outdoor area. Highly recommended, I would love to come back.

We had a delicious meal out on their terrace. Very nice waitstaff, good drinks. “Smash your own guacamole” was fun. Be sure to get it with “nachos”, their word for tortilla chips.

We particularly liked the service. We were served by Sarah - incredibly good service and despite it being so busy, our requests were always addressed quickly and friendly.

We had dinner here as a family while passing through. The atmosphere was very inviting, the service was absolutely accommodating and the food was simply delicious. Clear recommendation!

I had known La Paz for a while. Now with the change of ownership and renovation, the ambience inside just looks great. The tapas are still excellent and the wine is well selected. Service also good. One point deducted from the service because we were served a little later than other guests who arrived much later. But so what :)

Essen durchschnittlich, eher weit weg von portugiesischen Tapas. Auf jeder Speise ein Dressing, welches einen nicht schmecken lässt was tatsächlich auf dem Teller liegt - leider auch absolut überteuert. Bei der Bestellung der Getränke & Speisen wurde gar nicht richtig zugehört, korrigieren der Auswahl nur mit Diskussion möglich. „War ja schon eingetippt“ - Wir hatten nicht das Gefühl willkommen zu sein, uns wohlfühlen zu dürfen, es war eher ein „abgefrühstückt“ werden. Es erfolgte kein weiterer Service, ob wir noch etwas bräuchten oder eine Nachfrage ob es geschmeckt hat, gab es leider so gar nicht. Überhaupt nicht gerechtfertigt, dieser Hype um das Restaurant. Leider gibt es das leckere Essen & den Service wie vor ein paar Jahren nicht mehr. Schade !

Despite a reservation (confirmation via email) we didn't get a table. Rude, overweight receptionist who didn't even apologize and barely speaks German. Traveled for free for an hour.

A very well located restaurant with many tables. Little but tasty bread - pleasant menu - but the food was rather bland and lukewarm; Price-performance not suitable for us. Reordered drinks only came slowly or upon request (we unknowingly ordered from the wrong staff.) The coffee after half an hour... mmh, we probably won't be back.

Attractive atmosphere, friendly service. The food is nicely prepared, served quickly (which is rare in Germany), the quality of the food is also good, but despite everything I think the prices are a bit too high... The table was only available for two hours... rather tight in a larger/social group.

We wanted to watch football and have dinner here in the evening. I wanted to make a reservation in the afternoon and was then informed that there were no reservations outside, so I was advised when it would make sense to come. Everything worked out fantastically, we sat perfectly! The service was wonderful all round, attentive, in a good mood, fast and simply great! The tapas are delicious and the prices are reasonable for Hamburg. We'd love to come back! Thank you!

Ich habe schon bei vielen Restaurants gegessen. Kein Essen schmeckt so gut wie beim La Paz!!! Eigentlich mache ich mir keine Mühe und schreibe noch Bewertungen. Das La Paz hat mir bisher aber so gut geschmeckt, dass ich hier meinen Lob hinterlassen möchte! Mega Optik, Mega Geschmack!! Alles ist perfekt auf einander abgestimmt!!! Auch das Ambiente ist sehr edel, schick und dennoch gemütlich!

We spontaneously got a table here on Sunday evening, the restaurant was well attended. The quality of the tapas was good and the price was okay. The service was friendly and accommodating. The wine is very expensive, x 5 off the usual retail price.

We were there quite spontaneously around 6 p.m. A quick phone call was enough and we were able to secure a spot. We got there from Jungfernstieg within 15 minutes on the U2, and it takes less than 5 minutes to walk to the restaurant from the Osterstrasse subway station. It has indoor and outdoor seating (covered) and is very nice and stylishly furnished. The chandeliers are great, but could use a cleaning 😉. Toilet clean and nicely decorated. The food and drinks were excellent, plentiful and tasted great. Price/performance okay. There is a separate wine list, which is very select offers wines. The staff was super nice, attentive and patient, but probably slightly understaffed, tables weren't cleared for a while and overall the feeling was a bit unclear as to who was responsible. Conclusion: A successful evening, delicious food and drink, we were very satisfied - clear recommendation!

Our entire order was served at the same time, although I would have preferred to get the drink first. The food didn't fit on the table at all (the table was too small). When we asked if we could get a larger table, the response was very unfriendly. You really can't enjoy yourself there; instead, they want you to eat and finish quickly. The price-performance ratio was also too high. Very small portions and too expensive. The food wasn't tasty either. Not recommended.

I was able to work here with chefs who were trained by the great Ferran Adrià, the really cool, beautiful food if you like Spanish Mexican tapas but you can overdo it with social media...and the service could be faster, much faster! Nevertheless, all lovely, nice people...very good location, keep it up ;)

Update to my last post (the first one can be found below): Unfortunately, a really disappointing evening. Immediately after the renovation we were thrilled, creative tapas, cuisine at its finest, of a high quality. Great, competent and friendly service that spread a good mood and was genuinely warm. It was a bit more expensive back then, but the price-performance ratio was still absolutely right. Unfortunately this is over, at least yesterday evening was a complete disappointment. The service staff fluctuated between trying to be friendly and incompetent (it is difficult as a guest to communicate with a waitress who hardly speaks or understands German. There were constant misunderstandings), the food was unfortunately completely uninspired, the quinoa salad, on top of that I was so happy, practically unseasoned and soggy, the creative dishes from the beginning disappeared from the menu. Also tiny portions. I know very well that these are tapas, i.e. smaller portions, but so small? The prices are disproportionate to outrageous, for 0.15 l of white wine you have to shell out €8.50 (that corresponds to a price of €11.30 for 0.2 l, completely excessive in my opinion), the extra portion of bread (three slices), was added to the bill with €3.50. This is also incomprehensible; with these food and drink prices, it should be possible to at least provide the guest with free bread upon request. Another point of criticism was the music. Mostly too loud and pounding, you felt like you were on a disco boat. There was also nowhere to escape the music, as the speakers were installed directly above the outdoor seating and it was also too loud inside. It's a shame, but I think the owners need to think seriously about this concept if they want to do justice to the ambience and standards and return to the level of the early days. What a shame! My review about a year ago: We spent a wonderful evening here, definitely recommended! Great atmosphere, beautiful lighting and very tasteful decor, very, very friendly service, and absolutely fantastic food!! The cooking here takes place with a lot of imagination, creativity and care, far away from the usual tapas monotony. Fantastically crispy, home-baked bread with a great alioli first, and the portions are well sized - unlike in many tapas restaurants. The prices are absolutely reasonable and you really get great value for your money in every respect. We are definitely new regulars!

The two of us went to La Paz this evening. The tapas were very tasty. Unfortunately, an unpleasant scene occurred when paying. Our bill included two glasses of wine and a bottle of water, which we neither ordered nor consumed. When we complained, the manager became very unfriendly and angry and insisted that she had brought the wine and water to our table herself. She didn't even respond to our disputes. I was then able to clarify with the next table that the guests had received the wine and water on our bill. They had ordered it too. The manager then refunded us the overpayment. There was no excuse! There can always be oversights, but accusing guests unjustly and then not apologizing is not possible!!! The manager should reconsider her behavior.

We were only there for a few drinks, but the service is first class and it was very cozy and there were quite a few people there, I assume that the food is also very good. What I saw on the menu and the prices was quite appealing. Didn't seem too expensive to me either.

The oh-so-great gastro whisperer has unpleasant but factual reviews deleted. Just one star for that. At such prices you have to be able to listen to it, especially since the reviews were objective and fair. But the main thing is to drive a big car...

The service was good, the interior design is beautiful, however the tables are too close to each other this impacts the experience. The food was good but a bit pricey.

The food was okay, the tables were way too small and you sat way too close to your neighbor's table. There really are better tapas in the city and I recommend the wine rather than a cocktail.

We had dinner with my friends in La Paz. Octopus and hummus in particular were particularly tasty. We paid 98 euros for 3 people. The value for money was great. We will come back in any case.

The restaurant is very easy to reach by public transport. It's a bit difficult by car as there are no dedicated parking spaces. The ambience is great. Nice decor and cozy lighting. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable because you sit quite low. Also, the tables are a bit too small to place all the tapas on the table. The service is very nice, sometimes a bit intrusive, but overall very attentive. The food and drinks are quite expensive. We didn't try the wine. There is very little bread on the table. Some of the food is not well seasoned. We were particularly disappointed with the guacamole, which you had to pound yourself and was very sour. The nachos that came with it were also unseasoned. The stay is limited to 2 hours until 8 p.m., which makes eating a bit stressful at times. Overall, it's a nice place to have something a little more "fancy", but good tapas can also be found cheaper elsewhere.

Once again a really nice evening at Lapaz. I have never experienced the service better than here and I felt wonderfully accompanied throughout the evening. The food is really fantastic and absolutely delicious, from the classic tapas to extraordinary creations. It is worth it !

If we want to eat tapas in Hamburg - then only in La Paz! Great food, great atmosphere, super warm and relaxed service. :)

Now the restaurant is trying to take action against my review and have it deleted. My recommendation: invest more time and money in the service rather than in lawyers. We waited 15 minutes on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. to be able to speak to a waiter to see if there was still a table available, even though several were already free. There was no aioli with our tapas, even though it was included in the meal. When we asked, we were told that there was no aioli with the dish and that we would have to order some more. A waiter wanted to clear away our food while we were eating and we also had to wait 20 minutes for the bill. In general, we had to call the waiter over for every single service when he passed by; the rest of the time we were consistently ignored.

Sorry, but the cocktails are completely overpriced for the content. The glass in which the Espresso Mexicano is served is a joke for €14. Aperol Spritz consisted mostly of ice. This can be done better. I'm happy to pay, but I'd also like to get something in return for the money.

Ich habe La Paz am 07. November 2023 besucht und dort Wein getrunken. Der Wein war sehr gut, der Service auch. Es gibt nur einen Stern aus folgendem Grund: während meines Restaurantbesuches wurde versehentlich Rotwein auf meinen Klamotten verschüttet. Die Kellnerin hat sich sofort entschuldigt und mir die Prozedur für die Erstattung der Reinigungskosten mitgeteilt, außerdem ging ein Wein aufs Haus - bis hier also noch alles gut. Am 21.11. reichte ich die Original-Quittung der Reinigung (44 EUR) persönlich im Restaurant ein (glücklicherweise hatte ich hiervon ein Foto gemacht). Nach mehrmaligen Telefonaten am 5.12., 13.12., 20.12. und 2.1. stellte man mich am 10.1. zum Geschäftsführer durch. Man versprach mir, sich der Angelegenheit noch an demselben, spätestens jedoch am nächsten Tag anzunehmen und mir eine Info zu geben, sobald die Überweisung auf dem Weg sei. … Nach 15 Tagen Stille erhielt ich am 26.1. eine Mail mit der Frage, ob ich meine Quittung persönlich oder per Post eingereicht habe. Ich hoffe heute noch, dass dies eine Scherzfrage war. Ich antwortete auf die Mail am 26.1. und habe seither wieder nichts gehört. Ich frage mich, ob ich die Rückerstattung wohl irgendwann noch sehen werde

Hello, We were in La Paz with a group of 5 people and were warmly welcomed with a personal introduction. Unfortunately, we were immediately informed that the place was only booked for 2 hours and that we should therefore eat quickly. That was rather unpleasant for us. The food itself is of very high quality, but unfortunately very small portions. What we can recommend are the bacon-wrapped dates, the goat cheese and the churros. The price-performance ratio, however, did not suit us. From our point of view, the ambience was very nice and suitable for a Spanish restaurant. All in all, unfortunately only 2 out of 5 stars.
