Small portions but good for in between

First, we didn't get any menus; we had to get them ourselves. Then, to eat in this restaurant, you had to order a drink, something I've never experienced before. I ordered still water and got a sparkling one. It took two hours before we got anything to eat. The pizza wasn't any bigger than a store-bought one, and it didn't taste much better. Never again.

I never write reviews, but I have to say I think the restaurant "La Gondola" on the Gera River is absolutely fantastic. The service was very friendly, and the food was delicious. I had a salami pizza, and my girlfriend had the "Spaghetti La Gondola"—I highly recommend both. If you're ever in Erfurt, this Italian restaurant is definitely worth a visit. A little extra: the view is also beautiful—a bit like Venice.

The seating is very pleasant by the Gera river, and the usual Italian dishes are offered, although they aren't always in stock (e.g., vitello tonnato in our case). The dishes we chose (Italian salad or grilled prawns) were fine; I would have preferred grilled vegetables with the prawns to the rather firm cauliflower and broccoli. The service was friendly, but bread for the salad unfortunately only came upon request, and the bottle of not-so-cold mineral water arrived without a cooler (given the 32-degree outside temperature). The prices (e.g., €25 for four prawns with side dishes) are still reasonable.

Great, small family-run Italian restaurant

We were in Erfurt over the weekend and were searching for something to eat on Google for the evening and came across La Gondola. The pictures looked good, so we booked a table. The seating by the water is really nice, and the service was very friendly and attentive. But that's about it. The starters (salad and bruschetta) were delicious. But I don't know what to say about the main courses. We ordered five steaks and a pizza. The five steaks went back to the kitchen immediately after they were cut. What was supposed to be medium was cooked all the way through. The waitress was very attentive and took the steaks back, and we gave the chef another chance. The second round of steaks arrived, and unfortunately, this time it was the exact opposite of well-done. Some parts were still very raw inside and not at all tasty. The pizza, on the other hand, was okay. There are better ones, but at least you could eat them. Conclusion: The waitress accommodated us with the bill, and we added a Ramazzotti on the house, but I think you should stick to pasta and pizza in this restaurant. Or maybe choose another Italian restaurant?

The location on the Gera River is great, and the service was friendly. I ordered "loin medallion slices" from the menu. Upon asking, I learned that they were served with potatoes and vegetables. No sooner said than done. We were informed that the order might take a while because of the meat. No problem. What ended up on the table, however, had nothing to do with loin. It was a pretty overcooked minute steak, and the vegetables were two cold heads of cauliflower and one head of broccoli. The others' food (pizza and baked pasta) tasted okay, but the portions were very manageable. I don't necessarily need a repeat.

The pizza is delicious, the beer is also delicious. But the only thing is that we waited 30 minutes for the pizza... otherwise everything is great, the seats are a bit small, it's a bit cramped inside, and the toilets are for skinny people)))

Beautiful location, I was sitting right by the water, oh, and yes, the service was really excellent. The food was delicious, it was quite rich compared to the prices, which were actually quite reasonable. Big meals for small prices, oh, with this kind of staff, you'll want to stay longer.

This restaurant certainly divides opinions. The service is very good, the ambiance inside is rather disappointing (very cluttered and messy). Outside, overlooking the Gera River, especially on the small terrace, it's lovely, but the stacked floor tiles, which have obviously been lying there for a while, are also a nuisance. The food was good, but the portions were quite small.

The outdoor seating area is beautiful. Right in the middle of the old town in the sun. The service was very good, although the table decorations and table setting could be improved. Unfortunately, our pasta wasn't good. We ordered Bolognese. Unfortunately, it didn't taste of tomatoes, nor did it have a particularly large amount of meat. On top of that, it was made with minced pork and wasn't fried to a crumbly consistency. Instead, there were thick chunks in the sauce. So, it had nothing to do with Italian Bolognese. I must say, though, that the pizzas on the neighboring tables looked incredibly good. In retrospect, we probably should have ordered a pizza, because that's what the restaurant seems to specialize in. They looked really great, and in the Italian style too.

I have no idea why the restaurant has such good reviews, the food was absolutely disappointing. The pizza is small and doesn't taste particularly good. The Pozza comes from a normal oven, has virtually no edge and too much cheese. The bruschetta is a cheap baguette that is soggy. If you order bruschetta with pesto, you get bread spread with pesto. The tiramisu was a tiny portion for over €7, but it was tasty. The service was okay, but it didn't add any Italian flair. The restaurant is located right on the water and is nice and small inside - the yellow walls give it an Italian flair.

Tuna carpaccio was tasty and very thinly sliced ​​(as it should be), but it was covered in lots of whole black peppercorns and only a few pink peppercorns as it was actually described on the menu. Portion was very small for 12.00. When I asked for bread, there were toasted/baked, totally dry slices....after asking, they first said that there was no fresh bread (not anymore at 7 p.m.????), shortly afterwards they brought me fresh bread.. ..Aha... In comparison, the side salad was a lot of iceberg, a little rocket, 1 sliced ​​tomato, a few slices of cucumber - but a delicious dressing. The baked pennette with salmon and spinach were quite blandly seasoned...and somehow in a tomato sauce and not - as is more appropriate - cream sauce. The open Pinot Grigio was from a 1.5/2 l bottle - so it hardly had the Pinot Gris taste that we know... Price-performance ratio is not right here, the interior was colorfully mixed with different styles, the service seemed untrained and not very motivated (cleared up late, even though there was hardly anything going on, didn't ask for more drinks or dessert, brought old menu cards instead of new ones, etc.), but she was still nice. A rather disappointing visit with more expectations - after reading the menu in advance. Conclusion: All in all I found it quite loveless and dispassionate - at prices that were, in my opinion, excessive. It's a shame actually.

My absolute favorite Italian restaurant in Erfurt. Fresh and excellent cuisine is available at great prices. The service is excellent, the customer is king here. The ambience is the cherry on the cake - centrally in Erfurt you sit directly on the Gera.

You can do it if you haven't made a reservation and can't find anything else for Saturday evening. Otherwise there are much better restaurants in the area.

Affordably priced, but portions a bit small compared to other places. Taste OK. There were two of us and, interestingly, we received two different menus. Unfortunately, when I visited, the staff was visibly overwhelmed, which resulted in longer waiting times and a messy picture behind the counter.

Fantastic location right on the river bank, great selection of food. Why the draft beer is lukewarm only becomes clear when we ask: the beer cooling was weak that day, so there is lukewarm beer. I don't understand why the white wine is also lukewarm, but perhaps the two drinks are friends. People: If your tap system is weak, I would like to know when you order. Then I just drink bottled beer. In itself a very nice example of socialism, and I always thought that was 35 years old by now... The main course came while we were still busy with the starter. Reason from the nice service specialist: the kitchen was a little faster today. Basta. See above, but we have now reached capitalism, so behavior like that no longer comes across as great. Delicious food, even if the portions are manageable, prices are ok. Unfortunately, even with the best will in the world, there is only one point left for service orientation, which is still a lot of room for improvement.

Best Italian in Erfurt. We have been guests for years. The food is delicious and at absolutely fair prices. Service is top. Guests are treated like family. Even though we are only there a few times a year, we are always recognized. An absolute favorite for my mom and me. Even if we just go for a drink, we receive an absolutely warm welcome, although this is obviously not profitable for the restaurant (unfortunately worth mentioning, as it is rather difficult with all the other Italians in Erfurt). When you eat at La Gondola, you get much more than just a good meal!

Actually visited this restaurant not on purpose since we were just hungry and looking for something in the area which aroused our interest and the choice fell on this beautiful Italian place right on the side of Gera river and across of the Small Synagogue.

Sometimes, you need a little bit of humility and simplicity in the places where one may eat. Giovanni makes surprisingly good food every single time, and his lovely partner is always so sweet, patient, and accommodating. I've had steak dishes, pizza, salads soups and more here and they are all made even better by the fact that LA Gondola is unassuming, comfortable and simple. I always feel at ease when I dine here. I love it, and I have had some genuinely good experiences here and wish the fine folks at La Gondola nothing but the best. They work awfully hard, too!

We had the beef and swordfish capaccio. Both were excellent, both in terms of taste and appearance. The service is also extremely courteous and friendly. We sat very comfortably on the balcony over the Gera with a great view and would be happy to come back at any time 😊

Cozy restaurant with super friendly service. I was there alone, on the way back from the Leipzig Book Fair, and she made it very easy for me to feel super comfortable. Small, very cozy Italian restaurant in Erfurt city center, a place where you can forget about stress and hectic pace for a while. The menu offers almost exclusively pasta dishes, pizza and typical Italian starters and soups as well as some salads. The service was extremely friendly and open. If you get a place on the balcony, it's really a dream. The service is also very friendly and helpful.
