Kutscherschänke - Uriges Wirtshaus in Dresden

We dropped in on a rainy day and gave the potato soup and the house specialty, Deftiger Kutscherschmaus, a try. The soup was great—warm, flavorful, and just what you’d want on a gloomy afternoon. Unfortunately, the Kutscherschmaus didn’t quite hit the mark. It was heavy and felt more like a random mix of ingredients than a well-composed dish. Overall, a mixed experience—nice for a quick warm-up, but not something I’d go out of my way for again

My wife and her friend's meal was very good. They had the potato soup and the spiced meat. I wasn't entirely satisfied with my schnitzel. I think in a restaurant, you expect the schnitzel to be pounded flat. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. But that's just my personal taste. The service was okay. I've had much friendlier experiences in Dresden. When I asked the waiter which one he recommended: goulash or potato soup, the answer was rather soggy; one comes with meat, the other without. We know which is which. Our friend is a cook herself. The worst part, however, was when we left. Another waiter brought two ice cream sundaes to another table. They told us they hadn't ordered the sundaes, but only individual scoops of ice cream. Our waiter, who took the order for the two ice creams, then jumped over and really yelled at the two older gentlemen, saying that it couldn't be and wouldn't be taken back. He's sure that's what he ordered. Well, the customer is always right, it's different. This could certainly have been handled differently. The ambiance inside is super nice.

Very good Dresdner Goulash Soup! I didn't love the Dresdner Eierschecke, but it wasn't bad. The prices are a bit high (especially the beer), but not excessively so. The atmosphere and decor are very nice, but the bathroom is unfortunately dirty.

Highly recommended; everything just fits. I'd be happy to come back.

We'd never heard of pretzel dumplings anymore, so we asked the server what it was. He scoffed and said "You can google it", which is a weird thing to say about a house specialty. Surprisingly rude for such a highly-rated restaurant, and makes me question the authenticity of the ratings.

It was a lovely evening with delicious food and great service. The atmosphere was lovely, and despite the full house, it was a relaxed evening. The small, private booths made us feel at home. 👍👍... We made a reservation online, and everything worked out perfectly.

Had a quarter duck and the bridge master steak. Duck was ok. Unfortunately the steak was completely bloody and not medium rare as ordered. Therefore I cannot recommend this.

The restaurant made a very good impression on me! The atmospheric interior, styled like a traditional German inn, creates a pleasant atmosphere. The food was delicious - I especially recommend the classic currywurst, Wiener schnitzel and sauerkraut. Solid portions, perfect for hungry guests, and draft beer straight from the barrel perfectly complemented the taste of the dishes. The service was polite and helpful, everything was served efficiently and with a smile. Definitely a place worth visiting!

We have been to the Kutscherschänke many times. No matter whether as a couple or with family members and friends. Everything is just right, hence a new current review. The great dishes and also the fair prices compared to other locations. The service was very attentive and friendly. Since it is always well attended, we made a reservation for Sunday evening. Always happy and recommended.

The food is good but nothing crazy. The portion is average, certainly not for a big hunger. "Our" waitress, nice and smiling, but the waiter who served us drinks was a total jerk. I think there are many more interesting places in the area.

Good, friendly service in a fairly full restaurant. Unfortunately, the omelette filled with asparagus and salad disappointed me. The salad was almost neutral, a little more vinaigrette would have made it more enjoyable. I literally had to look for asparagus. All in all, we got a good half a bar. For €15.90 this is too meager for me.

The food was very good and reasonably priced (unfortunately we have to mention that today). You sit in a rustic atmosphere, the tavern is busy and so you are well advised to make a reservation, especially for more than two people. Also try by phone if the online portal reports 'everything full'. Service attentive and friendly.

Kutscherschänke in Münzgasse! Service friendly and OK. Ambience very good, inside and outside anyway, due to the location. I consider the food to be a tourist trap. All 3 meals taste better in every canteen. The sauerbraten had nothing to do with a sauerbraten and even if you had to call the dish something else, it was inedible. Actually indescribable. A type of smoked ham that was then cooked, at best. As I said, indescribable. The schnitzel still bothers me. This was definitely made in the deep fryer. And the meat in the breading tastes better in every canteen. The coachman's salad was the lesser evil. You can't go wrong with feta cheese, but the tomato mix was overly acidic and not particularly tomatoey. More like cucumbers that are red in color, only more sour. The accompanying bread sounds very appealing in the description. But tastes like dark toast. Visually, however, the food was served in an attractive manner. In the canteen the quality is sometimes surprising, but even there it is at least somewhat edible. Otherwise we had a very nice time in Dresden, thank you.

We ate here with 5 people and 2 small dogs. We all enjoyed the food very much and was of excellent quality. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our dogs were provided with water and were also welcome. We found the rooms very appealing and can absolutely recommend the restaurant.

Unfortunately, the food didn't convince us; we had expected more from the reviews. The seasoned meat, for example, was a pure soup, more mushrooms like meat, burnt toast and just tasted like nothing. We didn't get enough of the main courses because the taste was very bland, the steak medium was like rubber and the cucumber salad was completely over-seasoned. We were really disappointed. Door after door closed, it was completely drafty and wasn't nice. - Conclusion: we probably won't come back again.

Just had dinner. Hadn't reserved beforehand. Nevertheless, the nice young lady still found a nice table for us. If you have a good appetite, I can only recommend the 'Kutscherschmaus'. Different types of meat, Mettwurst with plenty of green beans and fried potatoes. Plus a black beer. I really liked it and the price was totally ok. Plus extremely friendly staff. Here, a restaurant in the middle of Dresden, not far from the Frauenkirche, does everything right. We'll be back.

There was a female waitress, unfortunately I did not remember her name. Her service is terrible. She talked to us as if we had come to her house and we were not welcome guests. They asked to be served in English, as foreigners. Because of her German accent, it was almost impossible to understand her English, there is nothing wrong with that, but it is possible to get out of this situation by trying to find an approach to each other. But from the waitress there was excess, arrogance and indifference to customers. She ordered what she thought she understood and came up with herself. Because of this, they did not bring us what we ordered. They changed the waiter to another one who understands us and we understand him, and they finally brought us the correct order. But this is our first and last visit. Horror. We will never return there again! I want to forget that such an institution exists.

Kutscherschänke – a gem in the heart of Dresden! A great restaurant with original German cuisine and an atmosphere that takes you back in time. Food – firecracker! We were particularly delighted with the fresh, aromatic salad and the amazing vegetarian dish - full of flavor and refined. Nice service, atmospheric place, drinks - first class. Absolutely worth a visit!

We absolutely loved our visit! We would particularly like to highlight the very nice and attentive staff. A big compliment goes to the waiter with the tunnel in his ear who served us on the first evening - friendly, warm and with a great sense of good service. The food was consistently fantastic: generous portions, freshly prepared and excellently flavored. We were particularly impressed by the pretzel dumplings – fluffy, juicy and full of flavor. The honey roast with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes was also a real highlight: tender meat, perfectly seasoned and wonderfully coordinated components. The price-performance ratio is also really good – more than fair for the quality and quantity of the food. However, there is one small drawback: Unfortunately, there was a strong smell of sewage on the terrace at times, which somewhat spoiled the overall impression. Nevertheless: An all-round successful visit – we will definitely be back!

The two of us were at the restaurant around 8 p.m. and wanted to have a table for two, unfortunately everything was already occupied or reservations were prioritized. So it's best to reserve a table inside beforehand. However, it wasn't a problem as it was pleasantly warm outside. First we ordered our drinks, which arrived quickly. We had to wait at least 30 minutes to eat. What do I think is pretty normal? It was delicious, unfortunately some of the vegetables were lukewarm when we received our order. Also bearable. Both service employees were nice and helpful. That was a great experience and is recommended. 👍

We had coffee and cake and in our opinion it was average at best. Freshly baked cake, like the one on the display in front of the front door, definitely tastes different. Regarding the ambience, anyone who likes pop music will probably feel comfortable. The service also takes a bit of time to take the order.

The food was very tasty, the provider was extremely cozy! We were given a table without a reservation until a reservation was due to arrive. The kitchen confirmed that it could be done well in terms of time. Unfortunately, we felt this time pressure very much from the young waitress. We absolutely understand that there was a lot to do. But then we “hurried down” our food. So my request would be: rather hand out a rejection or train the staff so that the guest shouldn't feel that.

As soon as you entered this rustic, cozy restaurant, a wonderful lunch excursion began... After greeting us, Mr. Schubert hadn't even finished asking for a table before he recognized the situation and led us to a great table. Always at the table at the right time and extremely nice, polite and funny according to the situation... Really great person... We recommend the goulash and the venison brawn... Yes, absolutely recommended. I ate Honigkassler with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. The Kassler was good. The sauerkraut was really tasty and the mashed potatoes made from real potatoes (it was chunky, just the way I like it) was a premium treat. I would like to put a 3 star plaque on their facade. The staff very friendly. The restaurant is recommended!

This is a restaurant I came across by chance. I'm in Germany, but there are Italian and Spanish restaurants nearby, so I'm thinking about it. I came in and it seems to be a local restaurant. The lunch hall is full of people, the atmosphere is great, and the food and beer are excellent. Many Asian people looking at reviews come here I'm Korean✌️

After 30 minutes of waiting despite all the requests, the lady graciously took the order. They accept locals first. They ignore foreigners and pretend they don't see them. You have to ask to order and then you have to wait a long time. The tattoo lady took an order for 4 people and delivered it to two. We asked for extra plates. :( I do not recommend it
