Wer klassische deutsche Küche mag, ist hier genau richtig. Die Ochsenbrust war butterzart und es gab Meerrettich extra, wer es schärfer wollte. Dazu Salzkartoffeln und etwas Preiselbeeren. Ein rundherum leckeres Essen !

Nice authentic regional Swabian restaurant with a wide choice of German, Swabian and seasonal dishes from German cuisine. There is always a homely atmosphere in the cozy, full dining room and the employees do nothing to give everyone a seat. Just adjust the table setup a bit and someone will always fit. The staff is engaging and friendly. And everything is so ordinary that it is really special. Parking in the area is a challenge, but with public transport from the Markt or the Paradeplatz it is less than a minute's walk. The location in the center of Mannheim, on the Quadraten, is very special.

It's not to the store's credit that they're not above opening on December 24th and welcoming guests who otherwise wouldn't know where to go. Otherwise a good traditional economy, of which there are fewer and fewer.

The restaurant is quaint and traditional. The atmosphere is extremely friendly and welcoming. The service was amazing, helpful, and personable. The food was better than all expectations. The schnitzel and ox breast were both cooked perfectly! The apple strudel with vanilla ice cream was heavenly. This was a fantastic restaurant to go to during my honeymoon. I will definitely return when abroad again in Mannheim.

The restaurant itself is getting a bit old. At lunchtime there is a regular audience that is on average 70+. However, the food is good and plentiful. I love potato soup with steamed dumplings on Thursdays.

There were 5 of us who had dinner, which was also very tasty. Service was catastrophic - the waitress wanted to clear plates even though people were still eating. Then she came again. Now I can finally clear it away. No thanks, no please. Although the food was great, we won't be coming back. Menu broken and dirty.

Beautiful, traditionally kept, well-attended inn. Staff really very friendly and accommodating. The food was great and not fancy, but traditionally good and hearty. More than 2 people should reserve. The staff often find a place at a table for two. If you don't want to sit at the table with strangers, you should make a reservation for two. We were completely satisfied and can only recommend the Kuhrfürst.

Der Salat viel zu künstlich, da hat einem ja die Zugspitze noch drei Stunden später gebrannt. Der Salat war definitiv eine Unverschämtheit, für eine solche kleine Portion so viel Geld zu verlangen, wir werden das Restaurant nicht mehr in absehbarer Zukunft besuchen.

The food was very good, tasted perfectly, and positions were more than sufficient. The service was very friendly, attentive and quick. With 16 people, the food came hot and almost at the same time. The ambience is a bit old-fashioned, but that doesn't detract from the good service and good cuisine. Clear recommendation.

The grilled peperoni starter was terrible. Just a bunch of warm jalapenos covered with holland saus. The main dish was mediocre. Service was quick.

The food was OK. However, the portions are quite disproportionate. The dishes with fish and schnitzel were generously prepared. The vegetarian Pfännle, on the other hand, was no bigger than a starter for €14.90. The service was extremely rude. We ordered a dish and were asked to leave out the sauce. It was served with. When we pointed this out to the lady, she took it straight away. The man behind the counter “flipped us the bird.” From 10.15 p.m. we sat up, dismantled the neighboring tables and stowed them next to our bench and lowered the blinds. We could hardly have been asked to leave more clearly.

The schnitzel was awesome, so was the mushroom gravy, strong and thick. The strudel was also very tasty with lots of cream and pudding.

Schnitzel day for €11.90 – the choice of side dish is limited: either a small salad or fried options. Anyone hoping for freshness, variety and taste may well be disappointed here. At least the food remains tolerable - after all!

The location is very nice. We were served quickly, the food we wanted from the menu was no longer available. The alternative (schnitzel with onions and fried egg) was dripping with fat, so I didn't want to eat it all (okay, I packed the schnitzel for my dog). The waitress asked if everything was OK and I said it was too oily. She looked at me, picked up the plate and said "oh yeah". That's it. That doesn't work at all!!!

Imagine a dim little corner where every corner seems to whisper "have another glass of beer". It's charming, cozy, and feels exactly like a place you'd expect to run into someone whispering secret bratwurst recipes. German house husband is similar to the Swedish one - a little grey, but in that pleasant, "I want to eat more" way. A perfect place if you want to feel full, happy and a little wiser about German food tradition. By the way, has anyone heard back about what they actually do with their potatoes? I want to know their secret.

Very uncomfortable restaurant. On the corner bench opposite, the poor innkeeper's child, about 4-5 years old, had to serve his time and watched his cartoons loudly on his cell phone. The landlady also talked to the man behind the counter about her unmotivating mood and last but not least, the benches and the toilet were completely dirty. I don't want to know what the kitchen looked like. The food wasn't bad. As long as you didn't see the dirt on the plates.

Unfortunately, very disappointed with the fried potatoes, which in my opinion were only briefly heated in the pan with oil. The “Kurfürst Wirtshaus am Markt” in Mannheim offers an overall solid experience with some bright and dark sides. The food was good and the prices were reasonable, which is a positive thing. However, the ambience was a bit suboptimal due to the location right on the street - it was quite loud, which affected the comfort. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. The older waiter seemed uptight and reacted to jokes in an annoyed and sometimes condescending manner, which made the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable. Another drawback was that no sauce was served with our cordon bleu with spaetzle, which seemed unusual and a bit inappropriate. Overall a restaurant with good food, but there is room for improvement in the service and ambience.

First of all, the food here is really good and I can really recommend it. Was here a few days ago and everything was great. Great food, super nice and funny waiter, everything you want. Today we were there again on “Schnitzel Monday” unfortunately the cordon blue doesn’t count. It's a shame that this isn't written somewhere, but the cheaper schnitzel on Monday isn't mentioned anywhere unless you know it. One of my biggest points of criticism is the current operation. Rarely have I been treated so unkindly. If you don't feel like serving guests, it's best to stay at home. Next time I'm here again, I'll first check who's serving and then decide whether I'll eat there.

Ordered via delivery service, restaurant confirmed the order, but after contacting us by phone we were just turned away and spoken to in an unfriendly manner. The person on the phone then simply hung up because, according to him, he had nothing to do with the delivery service. Food was never delivered. I can't recommend the restaurant, if you're unlucky you'll wait in vain.

I was there last weekend and ate a schnitzel, the outside was burnt, the breading was still white on the inside, never again, never eaten such a bad and tough schnitzel.

The service a bit slow maybe because it was a bit busy but apart from that food was great.

Leider hat das Lokal sehr nach gelassen , die Schnitzel sehen für mich aus wie TK Ware , gleicher Schnitt und dünn ohne ende. Wir waren früher öfter dort und waren stets begeistert , aber es ist keine Empfehlung mehr.

Quaint restaurant with upscale prices for good German cuisine. Drinks standard. Winemaker's plate was good and plentiful, pork stomach with innards, liver dumplings a bit watery, but good in taste. Apple strudel with a scoop of ice cream was homemade and delicious.

We wanted to have some German food for our short visit to Mannheim. We came here and were super pleased with everything. There was an English menu for us non-German speakers. This restaurant goes to show that you do not need to make super fancy food. Their food was fantastically simple and was excellently cooked. So enjoyable. We would come back without question.

Old school “tavern”. Atmospheric, like a journey back in time to the 70s and 80s but in a positive sense. Nice, fast and personal service. Changing menu with several daily meals, large portions, reasonable prices. Recommended for lunch if you don't want gourmet food but rather “straight forward” cuisine. We ate at the Kurfürst Wirtshaus am Markt on Friday, January 5th, 2024 and ordered Wiener Schnitzel and Jägerschnitzel. The portions are large. You continue on your way well sated. Our recommendation.

Typical German. Very hearty but good dish. It's difficult to find a German restaurant but I recommend it. The waiter boss speaks good French and was able to advise us well.
