KuliMaarik in Daun

I visited Kulimaarik for the first time yesterday. I'd heard nothing but good things about it, so I wanted to see for myself. A wonderful ambiance. Great decor. We received a very friendly welcome and were able to choose our own table. We ordered four different dishes. They were served quickly and hot. My pepper schnitzel was delicious! Afterward, I treated myself to some ice cream. The service was super attentive. All in all, I had a wonderful evening with lovely friends and great food! I'll be back soon!

We arrived at the restaurant shortly before 3:30 a.m. after a hike. At the entrance, we were immediately informed that they were taking a break at 4:00 p.m. This was fine with us, as we only wanted a coffee – which was also very good. However, we found the greeting a bit unwelcome. As a guest, you don't feel welcome when the first sentence is something like, "We're closing soon." Perhaps it would be better to clearly communicate breaks in the opening hours or on the menu so that guests are informed in advance. Overall, a short, pleasant stop.

The driest schnitzel ever. Absolutely disgusting. Served with microwaved pasta.

Full marks. The burger is a dream. You can taste the individual layers; it's not drowned in sauce. Simply delicious. The staff is super friendly and the decor is very attractive. We felt very comfortable here after our Maare hike.

My wife and I stopped here after a great hike. The food was very good and delicious. We really enjoyed the ambiance, and the server was friendly. We will definitely stop here again.

A beautiful excursion spot on a volcanic maar in the Eifel region with a great atmosphere and excellent food, all at a reasonable price!

The food was delicious: a summer salad with sheep's cheese and a mozzarella schnitzel. The service was quick and friendly! We'd love to come back.

We went there twice on vacation. Once for coffee and cake, the other time for currywurst. 😊 The food was always good and the service was very friendly and prompt. We'd be happy to go back.

We were looking forward to some good food after a lovely day. We were so disappointed. The portions were ridiculous for the price. The schnitzel was wafer-thin. Not well seasoned. My daughter's schnitzel was still pink. Sliced so thin, I wonder if the chef is still in his right mind. A bitter disappointment all in all. If I could give zero stars, I would. At least there was a discount at the end, which we would have gladly forgone if the food had been good.

Unfortunately, the food wasn't particularly good. The portions were very small. The value for money here isn't right. Far too expensive for the quality and the small amount of food. We drove to the next restaurant still hungry. Not a good advertisement for the Maare. Unfortunately, only one star!

The location is top-notch, the service was excellent, and the food selection was fantastic (I love it when the kids get some vegetables), but unfortunately, the food itself didn't really taste that good. None of the four people liked the carrots. What a shame!

Beautifully situated overlooking Gemunder. The service is super friendly and attentive. The sea bream with almond butter is incredibly delicious. The schnitzel with potatoes is also delicious. Fantastic!

Beautifully located directly on the Gemündener Maar lake, it offers a relaxed atmosphere and a magnificent view. The menu is deliberately minimalist and features high-quality, freshly prepared dishes. Friendly, unobtrusive service completes the harmonious overall experience.

We arrived around 11:00 a.m., and the shop was still closed. Just like the opening hours stated. They didn't open at 12:00, but only at 12:30. While someone else in the shop had said 12:00... What a shame!

We stopped here for dinner after our visit to the outdoor pool (Maar) and really enjoyed it. The prices are slightly higher, but the quality is excellent. We were lucky and got a seat on the terrace overlooking the Maar. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, the wind was lovely, and the company was great. Even though it was already 7 p.m. and the waiters had probably had a long day, our young waiter was very engaging and friendly, and prompt. We waited a "pleasantly" long time for the food; the Aperol was delicious (only with lemon instead of orange and mint, it was supposed to be a Sprite Limoncello 😂). My steak was buttery soft. The creamy asparagus was amazing, and the fries were golden and crispy for all ages. We had a wonderful time and a great end to a beautiful summer day. The place is super clean, nicely decorated, new, good value for money, and they cook their own meals (no convenience food!) – a great all-rounder. There's a chalet next to the restaurant that you can rent, which also looked great from the outside. And the view was romantically beautiful :-) We'll be back.

Quiet place... Friendly staff... Good value for money

We stumbled upon this place by chance. Cozy interior and comfortable solid wooden benches outside. The service was super friendly and attentive. We opted for a currywurst. It was sensational. The sausage was delicious, and the homemade sauce was divine. We've decided to stop here again on our next trip to this area.

After a long hike, we were looking forward to a piece of cake. Unfortunately, we can't comment on the quality of the food, as we weren't served and left after 25 minutes of waiting in vain. Since all the tables on the lower terrace were occupied, we asked about the upper terrace. They said it would remain closed. So we asked if we could get something inside, and they confirmed that we could. Unfortunately, no server came near us.

Very cozy, super friendly service. Beautifully situated in the middle of the forest. We were there during the week around lunchtime and were able to sit outside without any problems. The cake was delicious. The dogs at the neighboring tables all got water right away. Everything is decorated with love, and the restrooms are very clean and modern.

The seating is very nice, and depending on where you sit, you can even get a view of the maar. Unfortunately, the service wasn't great. You had to go inside to pay because the tables weren't cleared promptly. The spring salad was great, but the burger, unfortunately, wasn't. We got a discount. The servers were nice.

We popped in spontaneously for coffee – with our dog 🐕 Very friendly and attentive staff – even very kind to the dog, offering water straight away. The coffee, hot chocolate, cake, and ice cream were a dream. We'll definitely be back – with a big appetite 👍👍👍

I can't recommend this restaurant! They take a reservation for a Monday (the waitress even asks her boss if they're open that day, and he confirms they are), and then suddenly they're closed on Mondays. Truly unprofessional.

We were at KuliMaarik for the first time today and were very excited. Very friendly staff, we had a great place directly with a view of the Maar and the service as well as the food is absolutely recommended - the vegetarian dishes didn't just consist of “pasta with sauce” but were very varied. Even the owner introduced himself personally. We'd love to come back!

The lady from the service didn't even think it was necessary to say thank you for a tip that wasn't exactly small... What a shame. We won't be coming back

Hello everyone, brief information about our stay in this restaurant today. We were a group of 14 people. Overall, we were not satisfied with the food and the timely service. It all just took too long. After a long hike, we had to wait 40 minutes for our drinks and that was at a manageable pace. Since some of us work in the catering industry ourselves, this was unacceptable. Additional drinks were ordered with the meal, but they were not delivered at all. We were at the restaurant at 1:45 a.m. and were served one drink per person. The food portions were very manageable, both in terms of quality and quantity. The roulade was too cooked; as an amateur chef, I wouldn't even serve it to my family. Given the number of people, this is all too poor and too expensive for the quality. Service very weak. It's a shame about all that money. All in all not recommended. I'm sorry. LG

Cosy Café, well equipped, good food and very friendly stuff. I highly recommand it! A must after a walk in the woods and around the Maar!

Tolles Waldcafé an einem schönen Ort. Wir hoffen sehr, dass es das auch beim nächsten Besuch noch gibt. Im Gegensatz zu unseren Sitznachbarn haben wir im dritten Anlauf unsere bestellten Getränke erhalten. Andere Gäste sind nach gut einer halben Stunde wieder gegangen weil sie gar nicht bedient wurden. Wir waren diesmal an mehreren Tagen in Folge dort und es war insgesamt ungewohnt chaotisch. Schade. Wenn der Inhaber sich etwas umsichtiger um den Geschäftsbetrieb kümmern würde und weniger intensiv um Gäste die er privat kennt, wäre vielleicht alles wieder etwas professioneller. Dem hiesigen Handballverein anzugehören scheint als Gast jedenfalls nicht von Nachteil zu sein. Soweit werden wir aber wohl nicht gehen... Die Spinatknödel haben uns in den letzten Jahren immer wahnsinnig gut geschmeckt. Diesmal leider so gar nicht. Der Käse fehlte komplett und sie schmeckten einfach nur fad und etwas bitter. Vermutlich vom gerösteten Brot in den Knödeln. Wir hoffen sehr, dass beim nächsten Besuch wieder alles prima ist wie wir es bisher gewohnt waren. Sind schon seit einigen Jahren immer mal wieder dort und mussten uns diesmal doch immer wieder etwas wundern. Haben uns schon gefragt ob der Inhaber vielleicht gewechselt hat.

We arrived just in time for coffee and cake and were impressed by the variety of seating options. The Käsekuchen and waffles were amazing. This place truly lives up to the expectations and the beauty of the Maar and the volcanic lake area. The service was incredibly friendly—I would highly recommend it.

We wanted to have something to eat and drink, but we couldn't say hello. And after at least 20 minutes, no eye contact, let alone a menu or something to drink. You won't last long this way. So we left with an empty stomach.

Fine food, friendly service, beautifully located on the Maar. As a vegetarian, you may have to eat a slice of bread at home to fill you up. Compared to the meat dishes, the portions are strangely small, but the price is still the same or even higher than the much more lavish plates with meat components. A very nice and pleasant place, with slightly fairer prices and portions it would be perfect!

Establishment closed Friday July 19, Saturday 20 and Sunday July 21 (at least) according to my observations on site. No explanation. No signage at the entrance. The phone doesn't answer.

We were there for coffee - that was great. The goulash soup also smelled very good. Fast, friendly staff, sanitary technology very good. Prices appropriate for the location. I would come back.

Located at the crossroads of several hiking routes, you can sit there really nicely. There are waffles, cakes and also hearty things to eat, but apart from waffles we didn't try anything. The waffles were delicious and crispy, although the prices are a bit exorbitant at €4.50 for a green tea The pain threshold has actually already been exceeded, even if the tea was of very high quality That's why there were only 4 stars. In the picture you can see a view of the Schalkenmehrer maar if you start from the restaurant to the right and take the middle of the three paths, which has a very steep climb at the beginning that doesn't really get any better as you go, but it does there are really nice views

The restaurant is a real highlight...you get a warm welcome and the whole atmosphere is relaxed and very nice. Attention is paid to everything and the food and drinks are simply sensational. You are also very welcome with a dog and they were also provided with water directly. You can just tell they put their heart and soul into it and that's great and worth every visit. Thanks so much.

Wir kannten dieses Lokal von früheren Besuchen. Aber wir waren erstaunt - es war deutlich aufgewertet. Wir genossen einfache Gerichte, u.a. Spinatknödel. Die Speisen waren gut zubereitet und schmackhaft.

Beautiful location, very friendly service, the food was very fresh and appetizingly prepared. The price-performance ratio is absolutely right for meat dishes, but not at all for vegan dishes (I had the potato wedges with vegetables and dip).

We chose the restaurant in advance to stop off on our hike. Unfortunately disappointing, contrary to the information stated here, dogs are expressly NOT allowed, only outside. Unfortunately it's low season. The choice of food didn't convince us either, so we moved on after a short break with a drink.

We were there for breakfast, we can definitely recommend it, there was a good selection, something for everyone.

Stopped here spontaneously and didn't regret it. There are also several dishes to choose from for vegans. The vegan dish and the deer schnitzel were very tasty and the food was very nice and appetizingly prepared. Only recommended

We received a very warm welcome during a small visit in the early afternoon. I had a venison schnitzel, Brussels sprouts and Döppekuchen, the food was incredibly tasty and very stylishly prepared and garnished. The service was very friendly and there was a very pleasant atmosphere. Clear recommendation

Wonderful! My recommendation for breakfast for two between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. We arrived just before eleven and were served very courteously! We sat with a view of the maar and the snow. Beautiful, rare atmosphere! Very attractively renovated small restaurant with new sanitary facilities. We'll come back maybe for lunch too! We really liked the breakfast and lunch menus!
