I visited this beautiful place with joy and great anticipation. The location is gorgeous, and the service is very attentive and friendly. So far, so good. Then you're presented with a very extensive drinks menu. Also good. As someone who's heard the advertising for good, traditional German cuisine, I was very disappointed. I received a printed sheet of paper, about A3 size, for the menu selection. It was a jumble of ingredients for some dish that might have been suggested by its name. It was a disappointment, as we found something completely different from what we were used to on previous visits. A real shame. The food was good, but the selection was limited. The combination of dishes was an experiment.

Excellent hospitality. Top-notch staff. A superbly balanced and varied buffet, which was of very high quality. I would stop at this restaurant again anytime. The restaurant is located directly on the water with a view of the Saale River and the castle.

In the lovely little town of Halle on the beautiful Saale River we discovered the "Krug zum grünen Kranze" (Green Wreath Inn) so our captain, the Manze, docked right away. We received a very warm welcome here so we went there for dinner right away. The buffet was a real treat and there was plenty of good wine. We were in Halle on September 8th and 9th on the boat "Sietow" and called the owner to ask if we could moor at the hotel's private jetty. Our request was immediately accepted, but with the note that it was a day off. After our arrival, the owner personally came to check if everything was okay and if we needed anything. Following his advice, we then moved the boat to the jetty opposite and spent a lovely day at the Bergzoo. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your hospitality. We will try the buffet later.

We had a really lovely family celebration here. The buffet food was delicious and the selection was extensive. The restaurant was extremely busy (there were plenty of day customers and another party group besides us). Nevertheless, the staff were on their toes, consistently friendly, and hardly showed any signs of stress. Thanks to the team for a truly lovely day. We'd love to come back.

We celebrated our wedding here. Aside from the historical setting, the beautiful ambiance, and the fantastic location with direct access to the Saale River (i.e., a boat trip right from here!), our guests were enormously impressed by the culinary offerings! The restaurant was also very accommodating, had good ideas, and was very thoughtful and supportive throughout the entire wedding organization. We booked the "Paddling and Feasting" event for our silver wedding anniversary. We paid €50 per person, plus drinks. The price/performance ratio was just right for us. The inquiry and booking were handled via email. Everything went smoothly. All last-minute changes in the number of participants were handled patiently. Thank you very much, Mr. Schwade. We and our friends enjoyed two wonderful hours of canoeing on the Saale, especially on the wild Saale. Afterwards, we landed our canoes at the Krug Inn. Everything went smoothly. A table had been reserved for us at the Inn. Unfortunately, it wasn't set. A white tablecloth looks more welcoming. That was a small disappointment for me; a little surprise from the house would have been nice, especially since I had mentioned that it was a small silver wedding anniversary celebration. But that's my personal opinion and doesn't detract from the great selection of food on the buffet or the pleasant and friendly service from the waiters. I can 100% recommend this event. We and our friends had a lot of fun and enjoyment, and this silver wedding anniversary celebration will remain a lasting memory. Many thanks to the team at the Krug and the boat rental staff for their patient guidance.

We were there for a birthday party on Saturday, August 2, 2025. It was very spacious, with lots of rooms and a lovely outdoor area. The food was excellent. We took a boat trip and then ate there.

Summer buffet... Food was served uncovered under a tree, dessert was only refilled upon request, and there was a long wait for drinks... Poor value for money... We won't be returning to the summer buffet. It's a shame.

A really great restaurant. The food is worth every cent and I always recommend it! The older gentleman with the glasses, Ronny, was especially attentive and helpful. You can still see the old school feel there.

Top-notch restaurant! Not only the location, but also the food and service are more than impressive. We were here on a weekend, and despite the restaurant being packed, we were served quickly. We were informed about the current summer buffet concept. A great concept. There's something for everyone, and even though the restaurant is full, you don't have to wait for your food. The food was constantly replenished, and the taste was very impressive! We'd be happy to come back again anytime.

We drove to this location specifically to experience this wonderful atmosphere and its history. We were there on a glorious sunny day, around 4 p.m., an hour before closing time!!! We were greeted very rudely by a mature waiter with glasses, who told us that only drinks and leftover cake were available!!! We drank a beer and a homemade raspberry lemonade, which turned out to taste like a discount store lemonade. Half an hour before closing time, the staff started putting up the chairs, and the waiter in question came and asked us to pay!!! The neighboring tables that were still occupied were treated the same way!!! We can only recommend avoiding this historic restaurant, as the owners seem to be living it up too well!!!

Can't understand why they only do buffets in summer, completely overpriced

Very rude staff. The food was very bad and inedible. Overpriced for poor service. And, as I said, the staff were unfriendly, especially the managers, who did nothing. The waiters were okay. The food was undercooked and disgusting.

A wonderful start to our conference was the pre-conference dinner with 38 people at the end of May. The terrace was beautifully decorated, the weather cooperated, and the summer buffet delighted our national and international guests. The service was also excellent. Thank you! :)

We reserved a table and wanted to enjoy a cozy evening at the Krug. Unfortunately, our plans were thwarted. The buffet costs €38, quite expensive. No problem, we thought. Let's just eat à la carte. No way! In summer, they only serve buffets and nothing else! Drinks weren't included in this exorbitant price; even in Leipzig, it's cheaper! A beer costs €6.60! We even had to get up to pay. A disgrace, in my opinion. Now I understand why it's always so quiet there… what a shame.

Our daughters and their two families celebrated their confirmation together at the "Saaleblick" with a wonderful summer buffet. The selection was seasonal (fresh asparagus), diverse (German, Italian, Asian), and lovingly prepared, with vegetarian and gluten-free delicacies also included. The food was constantly being replenished. Our guests shared the desserts among themselves so they could sample as much as possible. After a walk with postcard-perfect views of Halle, the cake we had been allowed to bring with us was cut. For our confirmation candidates, it was an unforgettable experience, one that they and our families will always remember with fond memories. Many thanks to the entire team!

Actually, it's a nice restaurant. Right on the Saale River, with beautiful interiors. The food was served as a buffet in the garden and was very varied. But everything was cold. The food wasn't covered and presumably wasn't kept warm underneath either.

Today, on Ascension Day, the best location in Halle, right on the Saale River with a view of the castle. The team had everything: live music with upbeat songs, a grill station, and a buffet. Very attentive staff! We stayed longer than planned! The inn also hosted a stop for horse-drawn carriages, trekkers, and many boats and bicycle tourists! You won't find anything like this anywhere else in Halle! Even the weather was on our side! We're already looking forward to next year 😜👌🏽🥂

Great place. Chose it for a date. Great view. Delicious food. Inexpensive. Came some time before the kitchen was ready. Decided to order tea to drink while waiting for the buffet to open. The tea arrived about 20 minutes later. When we had already taken our food. That was the only miss, because otherwise the service was very good.

We had a wonderful evening with a very tasty and visually appealing buffet. The staff very friendly and extremely attentive. The terrace was prepared for us so that we could stay outside until shortly before midnight. Very nice location directly on the Saale with a view of the castle Giebichenstein.

Für uns wurde die Terrasse hergerichtet, so dass wir bis kurz vor Mitternacht draußen verweilen konnten. Sehr schöne Location direkt an der Saale mit Blick auf die Burg Giebichenstein.

Mother's Day buffet was terribly bad. Some of the dishes were ready-made meals of the worst kind. Definitely not worth €38. We waited 45 minutes for the drinks. But even then, not everyone was there or the wrong ones were brought. Two of the drinks we ordered weren't there when we left after 90 minutes. Not recommended.

Thank you for today's Mother's Day culinary experience. For us, it was an unforgettable time with our mother thanks to her incredibly rich and varied offerings. The service staff were very accommodating. Thanks!!!

Wonderful ambience under chestnut trees directly on the Saale. The Easter buffet offered a wide selection for every taste. My favorite was the Duroc pork; simply fantastic! There was also pasta from the Parmesan wheel, salmon fillet on spinach, sauerbraten, asparagus with hollandaise or brown butter, a large selection of antipasti, many side dishes... For the children, sausages, schnitzels, French fries and so on... plus a delicious dessert. Our wedding would have been perfect if we had celebrated it somewhere else! If you have to accommodate a wedding with a funeral service to get enough money, you can't expect 5 stars! 1. - It started with incompetent staff (now no longer employed there) who got in the way of our inquiries and planning of our wedding, as all inquiries were only answered many weeks later or not at all. It was only after a complaint email that another employee (actually just a student!) was finally assigned to the planning/customer service - just 2 months before the wedding, so we went through everything again from the beginning in the hope that it would work this time 2. - We urgently asked to be allowed into the room the day before our wedding to decorate and prepare the seats ourselves (nothing unusual for a wedding). 2 weeks before the wedding I got a call saying they had reserved the room until the evening. After I was more than annoyed and asked for a solution, they said they could decorate for us "according to the instructions"... Of course, despite instructions (photos, etc!!!), it wasn't decorated exactly as desired... once again annoying, as a bride, having to walk through the room at the wedding to make repairs... 3. - We were specifically asked whether we would get cloth napkins for the event instead of these cheap paper towels. This was approved and we also paid a decoration fee. Cloth napkins were available for lunch after which there was only enough for cheap napkins and cutlery in a jug instead of setting up properly!! This for a wedding!!! 4. - We had to ask that the cake dishes be cleared away after they had been on the tables for ages by the guests themselves. We had to constantly look for someone to get a vase, for example, or someone to take the orders, refill the water bottles on the tables, etc. Another guest got a senior portion. So one person wasn't full and another didn't have an empty plate! The music box provided by the pitcher couldn't be connected, after asking for help, buttons were briefly pressed then we were left on our own again with a box that still didn't work and were allowed to take care of it ourselves again. The children's chair was also not in the room and had to be requested again. 5. - The service staff were happy to wait a long time because of course they also accepted a travel group that was served first (they could have used at least 1 person for the wedding alone) and of course there was a funeral service!!! In the room where we had previously started the happiest day, people came who had to experience their saddest day... these were also placed in the jug towards the toilet so that we as a wedding group had to walk past them on the way to the toilet until the evening.. sorry but how can you do that?? That was just unpleasant! There were also mourning and celebrating guests on the terrace... really hospitable... Money or not, but that was the last thing, since we would have earned the most from us and the wedding had been planned forever. Just tasteless. Not a good organizer for us! If you want to go out to eat, it's okay but definitely not suitable for special events! We do not recommend it.

Reservation for coffee/birthday for 10 people. The atmosphere is great, just because of the memories. Drinks only according to menu, pot of coffee etc., 3 types of cake (rhubarb, apple, chocolate). Sorry rhubarb is out, apple left 3 pieces... then also out, so only chocolate. Pieces of cake are on the table, half eaten, then the coffee comes. Overall, a very sobering birthday coffee drink.

The beautiful old jug that invited poets and thinkers and hosted popular events. Festivals take place here and birthdays are celebrated. We held a funeral service. There was goulash soup, tomato soup, bread, cold plates, tea, coffee, fruit and cake. I myself come from the catering industry and what was offered was bad! The goulash soup was completely over salted. If I had paid for the buffet, I would have hired the chef! The soup had enough meat. Onion and soup vegetables were missing. Fresh parsley doesn't cost much and should be added in a small bowl. Just make it friendly. Likewise the tomato soup. It was served after the goulash soup. It was also too salty. The whistle was missing. A fruity component or creme fraiche, croutons, mozzarella. The bread was cut into slices that were too thick. The cake was good, but quite dry. A bowl of whipped cream is included. There is no recommendation from me because I know what would have been possible with a little effort.

The food is very good and the waitress tries to do everything for you. The guest room is cozy, but there is room for improvement in the adjoining room for celebrations.

We were there for the crime dinner, for the second time. The food was good, the service was excellent and the event in general was super fun and really great.

We were at the Krug for the class reunion program. The program is entertaining and funny. However, disappointments are to be expected when it comes to food. The main course was not warm and the veal fillet was dry. Different opinions are to be expected when it comes to taste. With a ticket price of €100, you can't say whether the price-performance ratio for the food is right. In any case, the service staff was very friendly and always open to our wishes. Apart from the compromises with the food, it was a recommendable and entertaining evening.

I spent a wonderful afternoon at the farmers market with many other guests here. The wind orchestra Halle-Neustadt e.V. performed wonderful, well-known pieces of music.

After my recent visit to the Restaurant “Krug zum Grünen Kranze” I would like to share my experiences share in the form of this review. Unfortunately, I have to say that my stay in this facility was not the same expectations that I met due to the had positive reviews. First of all was the service disappointing. The service worked inattentive and disinterested, leading to long waits. It seemed like the staff were overwhelmed, which had a negative effect on the whole atmosphere. Furthermore, the quality of the food was not satisfactory. The courts were either overcooked or taste-wise, uninspired. Particularly the main course that I chose was far away from what you did in one Expect a restaurant in this price range would. Also the presentation of the Food left something to be desired. Additionally, the cleanliness was Premises is another point struck me negatively. The tables were not thoroughly cleaned, and the floor seemed unkempt. This didn’t help just to a pleasant one dining environment. Overall, my visit to the Restaurant “Krug zum Grünen Kranze” disappointing. I hope that those responsible take these points seriously and take appropriate action Make improvements to future guests a better one experience. After many wonderful experiences in the Krug, today everything smelled like decline. Overwhelmed (student?) staff, a menu for the Sunday coffee time on which cakes and ice cream were completely missing and the waitresses were also unable to provide information about the prices. The 4.90 sheet cake with wide edges that need to be cut off. We lacked motivation for the evening buffet at €35 (for one person without drinks).

I was looking forward to the ambience and the hospitality - unfortunately none of the apparently four waitresses felt encouraged to approach us within about 20 minutes (occupancy was around six occupied tables). So we're going to another restaurant now.

Very nice atmosphere. Went for all you can eat, the prices at 35 euros per person are definitely justified. From fresh beef carpaccio to beef roulades to dessert (lemon ice cream served in a frozen lemon), everything was freshly prepared. Service very friendly. We'll definitely be back.

In the garden you can sit comfortably under the shady trees with a view of the Saale. The service is friendly and quick.

Ambience top We were there with 76 people, the terrace was well prepared for the number of people, the anniversary celebration was organized over a period of weeks. We chose the smoker buffet, 2 meat dishes, 1 fish dish, various salads, bread and desserts for €27.90 per person. Stately price. We were all excited but unfortunately we were very disappointed, 4 warming containers and 5 bowls of salad for 76 people :-( The buffet was opened, the first batch was served - all containers were empty and nothing was refilled. Very sad, for such an address in Halle, therefore from our point of view it is not suitable for large groups. Pity...

A classic right on the Saale. We took part in the buffet. Empty containers and sometimes poor quality. Duck and carpaccio of octopus and shrimp are of very good quality, but there was no olive oil or even vinegar anywhere. The prices are completely excessive.

Today we went for Sunday brunch as a group of 18 people. The food was plentiful and of good quality. From salads to hearty main courses and sweet desserts, everything was available. The staff was very friendly and on the ball. I can only make one recommendation here

Nice historical place to stop for a break. We finished a cycling trip here and were pleasantly surprised by the service and staff. There was an all you can eat buffet for 39.90 euros. It was a creative choice of food. Something for every taste. Plus 3 delicious draft beers. Here you can chill out and relax. Or meet up with friends and have a long chat. We liked it and we recommend this location to you. Gladly again...

Last Sunday we went to the summer buffet at Krug zum Grünen Kranze. The location is beautiful and located directly on the Saale. The meal was very disappointing at a price of 35 euros per person. At a "summer buffet" I don't want duck leg with red cabbage and dumplings. The concept was absolutely missing here. There was a chef at the grill, but for the price I expected something more sophisticated than chicken and pork steaks. Fresh, green salads were completely missing. Instead there was potato salad or boiled beef salad... We stayed for coffee, with which we were probably served cake from the freezer. In any case, it didn't taste good. The service was friendly and attentive, but mostly new and not professional. Conclusion: Price-performance ratio is not right
