Ordered roast pork three times and were completely disappointed! The meat was full of fatty meat, tasted like it was old, and the red cabbage was sour and tasted strongly of vinegar. The end result: two out of three people had diarrhea and stomach aches.

Food was traditional, fast and hot. On a cold, winter's night, and no reservation needed.

Good traditional food, but with some variety. Some seats can be loud, but we had a quiet corner. Can only recommend the real German experience.

Absolutely disappointing. I wanted to show my American friend a German restaurant. The staff was incredibly unfriendly; they didn't even greet us, the server walked past us 20 times and ignored us. When I asked him to come, he said "right away," sounding extremely annoyed, and then didn't come back. Never again!

One of the waiters was very unfriendly. He claimed there was only one oven, which is why I received my food late, instead of admitting they had forgotten. The head waiter—an Asian man—was very friendly.

Excellent food and friendly service. The prices are reasonable and the Andechser beer is really good. We've been here several times and will gladly come back again.

We were in Wiesbaden today and ate at the Ratskeller. We both enjoyed the roast goose leg; my wife with tea and a glass of red wine, and I with a liter of Andechser Dunkel beer. Everything was perfect, and the prices were reasonable.

The noise level in the Ratskeller was quite disturbing! The staff was very quick and efficient, the food was okay and arrived very quickly… much of it was probably already prepared – likely necessary with so many guests.

2025 Review: This year I visited the place 2 times. Service was fast and friendly as usual. Atmosphere was cosy and warm. Hessischer Bellschou - Hacksteak was great; juicy and tasty. I like especially the Pretzel & herb cream dip Starter. However, I did not like the recommended menu - Schäufele - roasted pork shoulder. The meat was good, but the taste was very bland. 2024 Review: Excellent food. Went there 3 days in a row for dinner. Atmosphere both inside and outside were great, classic. Only downside of the outside seats is that I couldn’t really avoid those who smoke.

We were in Wiesbaden for a business event and afterwards we went to the Ratskeller to finish off the evening. A charming location, definitely worth a visit.

As of October and November 2025 - Wonderful for small groups of 5-6 people, but also for larger outings with over 20 people. Delicious, fast, and very friendly. Our number one location in Wiesbaden.

A menu with a good selection. Unfortunately, the dumplings were very tough, and then they just had spinach on the side and cheese on top – that was it! The schnitzel was a decent size, but the portion of fries was very small.

The atmosphere of the Ratskeller's wonderful vaulted cellar is incredibly inviting. The service is quick and very friendly, and the menu offers a wide selection of delicious, traditional dishes. Our meals were absolutely delicious, and because everything was so good, we ended up spending more time in the Ratskeller than we had planned. We will definitely be back.

The food here is good. The menu is well-balanced. The prices are reasonable. The service is friendly.

Hearty food, unfortunately Bavarian beer is served in the state capital of Hesse. But it tasted good.

I was at this restaurant today with a group of 14 people. The service was very quick and friendly. The food arrived relatively quickly. Several people in the group confirmed that we did receive food, but that was about it. I ordered the "Landtag Schnitzel" (a breaded schnitzel with a pretzel crust, as described on the menu) topped with sweet mustard, served with gravy and fries. On a large, oval plate, the fries were on the left, and on the right, a schnitzel was covered with what was supposed to be a pretzel crust. It wasn't visually appealing. This topping was far from a crust. The gravy must be very expensive, as it was served so sparingly. I only found it by chance under the schnitzel. I had been expecting a proper portion of gravy, as is typical in Bavaria. The dining room gradually filled up, and it became very noisy in the vaulted space. Not recommended.

Four of us went there for lunch. Despite the hefty price, the portions were very small, but the taste was okay. Two meals arrived cold at our table, and we complained about them, only to be returned lukewarm. Unfortunately, the friendliness of the staff left a lot to be desired.

We were there in the afternoon. After the waiter change at 5 p.m., our table was ignored. After repeatedly asking for service without success, we left. Not like that again!

The service was nice, but the food was nothing special, and in my opinion, the prices weren't at all commensurate. €76 for a schnitzel with fries and salad, two meat sausages, and three drinks is too high for the quality offered here. The restroom was also rather underwhelming.

I've rarely eaten such bad food. They must have been trying to make a roux for the Champion cream sauce, but unfortunately, there were still lumps everywhere. The spritzer and beer were all stale for all of us. The atmosphere was uncomfortable. It was noticeable that there were hardly any Wiesbadeners there, but rather tourists who probably had no idea about the quality of the food. We (9 people) will definitely not be coming back. It's a shame.

A pleasant place. My German companion felt her meal wasn't as good as she expected, however I enjoyed what I had. The beer was good.

It was my first time, and almost certainly my last, eating at the Ratskeller. The food is down-to-earth and simple, but the whole experience lacks that special touch. The service, while friendly, seemed overwhelmed, even though we were there at a time when there were hardly any guests. Furthermore, my meal (more than half of the portion), which I unfortunately couldn't finish, was thrown away even though I asked for it to go. This really annoyed me, especially since I only got my drink refunded when I asked for a discount. For me personally, neither the food nor the service give me reason to visit the Ratskeller again. Mistakes can happen, but how you handle them is crucial!

A truly excellent restaurant for those who enjoy brewery cuisine. Reservations recommended! Friendly and attentive service. The food (e.g., smoked pork with sauerkraut) was deliciously seasoned and the portions were decent. The prices are reasonable for the quality. It's a great bonus that side dish changes aren't charged separately. We really enjoyed it!

Very friendly staff, my wife's meal was good, but my roast beef with onions was too tough on the outside and too stringy on the inside. We're used to something different. It was OK.

An uncompromising waitress ruins the evening. Disappointing. The two of us were at the Ratskeller last night around 8 p.m., and only about 30–40% of the tables were occupied. There were no reservation signs at our table, nor at the other empty tables for six (eight to ten tables still available). Nevertheless, a waitress rudely asked us to swap our nice table for a smaller one – without explanation. She was radical, uncompromising, and refused to offer any solution or compromise. She didn't respond to our inquiries and then disappeared. The restaurant manager was unavailable; only the lady and another young waiter were there. A few months ago, the service was still friendly, but now the staffing situation is poor and unprofessional. We don't want to be served like that and won't be coming back until that changes.

The Ratskeller Andechser in Wiesbaden is highly recommended! The food is excellent – ​​fresh, plentiful, and perfectly flavorful. You can tell the cooking here is done with love and quality. The portions are also generous and fairly priced. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic, just the thing for a relaxed evening. The service was attentive, friendly, and quick – you feel completely welcome as a guest. In conclusion: If you want to eat well in Wiesbaden, you should definitely visit the Andechser. I will definitely be back!

We were a group of around 200 people. The food was delicious, there was hardly any waiting time, and the staff were very friendly. We really enjoyed it.

Absolutely the worst service during the intercultural festival. Such rudeness and unprofessionalism shouldn't be allowed to be used on people!!!

We were here with a larger group, so everything went very quickly, including ordering and serving. But those are the only positive aspects. The food and drinks are ridiculously overpriced for this quality! I've rarely eaten worse – it tasted of nothing and was dry. It was a bit like hospital food. I'm annoyed that I had to pay so much for THAT. I'd rather go to our cafeteria; it tastes so much better there... None of us received a receipt.

We do not live in Germany but one part of our couple is German. Whenever we come to Wiesbaden I rest assure you - we are ending up here. Great food for good money... yeah the service sometimes is a bit slow but where it isn't after Covid when we look at "budget" meals considering the size of the portions. Each dish we tried over the years matches price value. Get in - have a beer - have a schnapps and enjoy the authentic atmosphere of good old Germany! Cheers !

The food was simply abysmal; it's unfathomable how they can "conjure up" something like that from ordinary ingredients. The worst dining experience ever. The beer and wine were fine, as was the waitress who served them.

We were in Wiesbaden over the weekend and ate at the Ratskeller twice because the first evening was so wonderful and delicious. The food was incredibly tasty and plentiful, and the staff very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food and the staff disappointed us the second time. The leek soup was peppery, the vegetables in the main course were bland, the Ratskeller tarte flambée had very little topping, and the portion of boiled beef was very small. The staff ignored us despite eye contact, brought the wrong food, and the main courses were brought while we were still eating the appetizers. We were probably unlucky because we were there on Saturday, during the wine festival. A restaurant like this should be able to offer consistency in both cuisine and service. The prices were only reasonable for the first dinner.

If you're a fan of schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), you absolutely have to visit Ratskeller Wiesbaden. It did not disappoint. The dish was a little pricey (for my budget), which is to be expected given the central location, but the portion was so generous that I couldn't even finish it. While the weather and some local renovations meant there weren't many people dining outside, the atmosphere was still pleasant. The only real downside was the constant loud hum of what I think was an AC unit. However, the service was polite and prompt, and the food was fantastic. I'd definitely recommend it.

Top service, top ambiance, top food. It was very busy but perfect. The service also responded to my requests professionally. I must also note that there were some really cheeky guests. And the service was perfectly calm. In front of me, two tables ahead, were two older gentlemen who had ordered exactly the same thing as me. One meal for two. They both ate about 90% or more of it and called the waiter. They said it was ordered incorrectly... and they didn't want to pay and wanted to speak to the manager. The manager came, and after a brief discussion, the manager didn't want their money, and he did it very calmly. Kudos for being so calm. Especially since the older gentlemen could say something during the serving and would rather eat everything and then say at the end it was wrong. At the end, they finished eating, and I walked past them and said, "I hope you enjoyed it and please don't choke on the last bite." Delicious food and great service from the guy. This was the first restaurant we ate on our Germany and Paris trip. Our friends brought us here for the experience and history. The building is beautiful and eating in the basement restaurant was a cool experience with all the history. The patio however was beautiful and a great atmosphere in the summer. The food was the first German meal and I enjoyed the short rib and gravy with potatoes. It was heavy but delicious. My children ate their entire meal and my wife enjoyed her dish as well. I could have gone for more spice but that’s just me.

Had the schnitzel that was supposed to have a pretzel crust, unfortunately the schnitzel was very greasy and apparently a frozen deep fryer product as it was there in just under 10 minutes, the crust also only consisted of a thick layer of sweet mustard and bitter gravy for 19.99 you would really expect a premium product, unfortunately would not come back, even if the service was very attentive

The food was delicious and the service was great. However, some of the prices should be reconsidered. For example, we ordered a side salad with our schnitzel for €6.20. This salad consisted of a handful of lettuce, a slice of tomato, and a slice of cucumber. The price is a bit excessive...

We had lunch on the open area, the fresh breeze pleasantly protected us from the heat. We ordered a steak with baked potatoes and fried chanterelles from the seasonal menu - incredibly tasty! (30€) We also tasted a traditional dish for this region of Germany - Handkäse mit Musik (11€) - original taste - I'm unlikely to order it again, but for a deep feeling of the country it was interesting (maybe less vinegar is needed). The service is pleasant, quite fast.

We were here in the heart of the old town on a Saturday evening at the end of June 2025, just on the day of the big running event, and decided to sit in the beer garden instead of the cellar. From here, we had a beautiful view of the Schlossplatz with its historic buildings, such as the Market Church and the Town Hall. Above all, there was still a lot of commotion that day from the finish line of the city run, with its moderator and DJ. A big compliment goes to our waitress, who, despite the stressful environment, was always friendly and kept a clear overview. We ate Hessian specialties: the famous Frankfurt Green Sauce with eggs and potatoes, and the Hessian Bellschou with fried potatoes. Both were very solid and good. To finish off, we shared a portion of Kaiserschmarrn, also excellent. The value for money is reasonable, and a visit to the Andechser in the Ratskeller is highly recommended.

Having 100 people in this vaulted space is a challenge for the ears and vocal cords. The schnitzel was decent, quite thick and not too small, but very lightly seasoned. The fries were equally unseasoned. The very simple dish was completely lacking in salad. A quarter of a tomato and a tiny leaf of lettuce are hardly pleasing. Those who ordered a salad found hardly any chicken in it, but instead tons of green lettuce leaves and hardly any tomatoes or other enriching salad elements. Not even a dressing, salad oil/oil, croutons, or anything else you might expect could be found. The staff were friendly and very prompt. We didn't have to wait forever for the food. The ambiance was largely unpretentious, and card payments were accepted. Restrooms were fine.

Easily one of the highlights of a German food / beer hall!!! The beer is very smooth and tasty and it takes control to stop/ slowdown. The staff were very nice and accommodating for a foreigner (Canadian) I was nervous about ordering the speckflammkuchen, but I will now put all of my effort into attempting this back home!!! If your in the area of Wiesbaden, It's a MUST!!!

This is one special place where you can find authentic and traditional grilled pork hocks, fish, bratwurst, and more. Sorry forgot to take a photo after I devoured the whole thing. Just the same as I had my last one in Munich by the church.

This is a popular restaurant among locals. It's probably best to make a reservation before you go.

The Ratskeller is located directly on the Dernsche site. The main entrance is here and there. When he is here, you end up at the large glass doors into the cellar, where you have to walk around the corner and enter the cellar via a narrow entrance. There are plenty of seating options in the vault for two or eight people, and some areas are separated by plexiglass panels. The smaller tables are comfortable, but very narrow and uncomfortable for larger people with stomachs. The food is delicious, the non-alcoholic drinks are available at a maximum of 0.4l, most are served in 0.33l bottles. The meat tastes very good, the fries are crispy and not too salty, and the dishes are visually well presented. The staff is very friendly, but they don't come by that often. Once we had ordered two drinks, no one came by for over an hour to ask if we would like to eat something else. We thought that was a shame. Maybe it was because there was a very large group on site and only one service person.

Delicioso...el ambiente es tan simpático y algo ruidoso ( nosotros los latinos somos ruidosos por naturaleza necesitamos música y mucha palabra) pero este lugar lo invadía un rumor especial un rumor de cubiertos y elogios y Miles de suspiros y sonidos (misofonia que significa sonidos naturales mientras comes) ..y como no!!!! Si al probar sus platos la boca por si sola disfruta sin poder controlarse..jiji...muy recomendable!
