A very nice and rustic restaurant. Really cozy. We were greeted warmly and shown to a table. The service was absolutely courteous and friendly. Also very fond of children. The food is very down-to-earth and traditional. There was game goulash with dumplings, Jägerschnitzel or currywurst. The taste was very tasty and the portion was more than enough. Price performance is just right. We've been there twice now and there will definitely be a third time. Only recommended.

Stopped here several times during our vacation. Always received a nice and friendly welcome. Ate here twice and it was very tasty and plentiful, 1 time schnitzel with fries and 1 time game goulash with spaetzle. The game goulash is highly recommended, good portions and the price is right too. They usually stayed seated for a long time and played SkipBo, which wasn't a problem for the owner, which isn't necessarily welcomed everywhere. Thanks for the time with you and maybe we'll see each other again when we go on holiday in the area again. Until then, stay healthy M+C

Advisable! If you want to eat typical food, it is the place. The service is fast and friendly, they speak English and have a menu in Spanish. The owner was very friendly during the meal and offered us a map of the city in Spanish and explained the important sites to us.

We wanted to have a cozy evening drink in the beer garden but because it was a spontaneous decision not to reserve (we should have done so) we still got a table. Unfortunately, about 15 Dutch people came and dragged the tables and chairs around, drunk and shouting loudly, making it impossible for all the other guests to converse in any way. Since we had already ordered food, we couldn't leave. I had chicken nuggets and fries. The fries weren't very good and everything was very dry. There wasn't even ketchup or mayonnaise. Unfortunately I had to leave the fries behind. My husband had currywurst and fries and he wasn't very impressed with the food, for 2 drinks each and we paid €41 for both of them and a salad. We were happy that we could leave, no one could stand such a noise. All other guests also fled the beer garden. Too bad

Excellent place to eat! We went with two children and they have many games for them. The waiter is very friendly. The letter is translated in all languages, including Spanish. We ate schnitzel with potatoes both for the children in a smaller format and the same for us. The dishes are very abundant, my recommendation is to take the plate of 2 schnitzel and share it between 2 adults, since there are four large pieces of battered meat and it is quite thick (but soft). Cheap price for the quality compared to other sites.

We ate on the terrace of the Klosterstube, and everything was delicious. 39 euros for two main dishes and 3 large beers. The dish of the day, Wild goulash with splatzen, delicious and filling. The waiter is a beast. We didn't speak any common language (he basically only spoke German) but very friendly, very funny and if we return to Gengenbach, we will come to see him again.

Had coffee first on this hot day. Caffeine deficiency. Delicious coffee☕️. Then ordered food and beer. For me the wkld boar goulash with spaetzle and for the wife pfannkuchen with salat. However, she got spaetzle with pfifferlinge......but it was very tasty. -1☆. Those beers were also nice and cold. The terrace is located next to a busy road and railway line, which does cause some noise pollution. The prices are good and the portions are decent👍

The food and the location is nothing special. Schnitzel / fries are good, thick, tender meat. Salad plate if you like ready-made salads, then it's ok. Very friendly gentleman, told us a few things that you can visit. Top 👍🏼

The portions are very generous and the service very attentive. On the other hand, the salads are not homemade, nor the vinaigrette. The Schnitzel are freshly prepared, tender and very thick. So I would say that it depends on the dish you have. But quantity takes precedence over quality and presentation.

It has been a discovery. It is a hidden place, with a pleasant terrace and typical German food at a good price.

We ate 2 adults and 3 children for 65.80 euros. 1 pork tenderloin with chanterelles in sauce and rosti potatoes (€24.90), 1 Jägerschnitzel with Spätzle (€15) and 3 smaller schnitzels with fries (€12.50), 2 Fantas (€5.20), a glass of white wine (4.20) and a beer (€4). Large portions and good flavor. The waiter did not speak Spanish and we spoke four words of German, but he was very friendly and pleasant and made us understand each other. Then the cook came out, who did speak because he had lived in Marbella. The waiter recommended a nearby ice cream shop because they don't have desserts. We ate on a terrace with umbrellas. The only negative point is that it is next to the road, but I still recommend it.

We went in to have a few beers but the waitress threw us off in a bad way. I tried to speak English with her but she flatly refused. I wouldn't return and wouldn't recommend if you're a foreigner.

The food was good. The snichel was very tender and tasty. The problem was the service, the waiter was alone and after asking me for a beer 3 times, he never brought it to me. The place was empty, but I guess the waiter had his reasons for being unhappy. In the end we ate dessert somewhere else because the wait was too long. Today we were in Gengenbach again and were happy to stop by the monastery room again. 2 schnitzels with asparagus and fries. Everything was very tasty again, especially the asparagus. Die Klosterstube ist im Nichtraucherbereich eine Dart-Kneipe. Leider nicht sehr gemütlich. Den Raucherbereich habe ich nicht gesehen.

I can't talk about this place because it didn't have room the last time we went, but I can say that the person I spoke to, with an air of smugness, told me that he couldn't accept us without a reservation, even if the interior of the the place was empty. Without waiting for my response she turned and left.

A bitter disappointment!!! We didn't stay there. On the one hand, the front was a "smoking cave"... smoking was still allowed here and the rear - spatially separated area (non-smoking/dining area) was dark and apparently without a window. The menu posted read "classic/good home cooking"....but I can't imagine eating there. Maybe I should say that it was 1 p.m. and beautiful sunny weather. Maybe it makes a different impression in the evening.

Best German food I've had. What a gem we found! 2pm on Sunday, 31st of December. Everywhere seemed closed. But Klostertube wasn't! Really nice vibe, local, rustic, local pub kind of place. Lovely local restaurant, with a lovely funny waiter that spoke great English. His mum does all the cooking and oh my, it is GOOD. Huge portions, tasty food and cheap prices. The schnitzel with mushroom sauce and german pasta was amazing, and 14€ for that huge portion is a bargain. The goulash soup was so tasty, loved it. And the currywurst, a solid classic. What a wonderful experience, I'd recommend everyone one to come here. 30€ for two people and a biiiig meal in the tummy.
