Located in the heart of Bad Herrenalb, right in the historic center, you'll find the Klosterscheuer – a traditional restaurant that's not only extremely popular with locals, but is also appreciated and praised far beyond the region. And rightly so! The ambiance charmingly combines tradition with coziness: rustic wooden beams, lovingly set tables, and a touch of monastic history in every detail. The Klosterscheuer is well-attended, which speaks volumes about its quality – so making a reservation in advance is definitely recommended. I opted for the Klosterpfanne (monastery pan) – a hearty house specialty – and was not disappointed. Tender meat, perfectly seasoned, accompanied by a robust sauce and delicious side dishes. A true culinary highlight that perfectly matches the traditional focus of the establishment. Unfortunately, I was a bit slow with the photo – it was so good that I just started eating before I even thought about the camera. 😉 But perhaps that's the best compliment I can give the kitchen!

Hier wird Gastfreundschaft noch großgeschrieben, super Nettes , Zuvorkommendes und Freundliches Personal, fantastisches Essen, Super, lecker! Das Restaurant und die Toiletten sind, sehr sauber. Surrounded by nature, with fantastic traditional German food and a cozy, authentic vibe—couldn’t ask for more. Definitely a gem in Bad Herrenalb!

Das Personal war äußerst zuvorkommend und freundlich. Das Essen war einfach hervorragend und hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Besonders der Gruß aus der Küche, der Ziegenkäse sowie das Badische Schnitzel, das mit seiner einzigartigen Note im Bärlauchöl perfekt abgerundet wurde, haben uns begeistert.

We had our last evening in Bad Herrenalb here and were more than satisfied. Great ambience, attentive, friendly, courteous staff and absolutely fine cuisine. Quality instead of quantity, portions are absolutely appropriate for the fine cuisine, price/performance is top, from the aperitif, starter to dessert, everything is highly recommended

Called around 8 p.m. and asked when the kitchen was open. We were promised that we would get something until 9 p.m. We were there around 8:30 p.m. and were unfortunately sent away again. The kitchen had probably been cleaned for a long time.... then why such a statement. Came from the Pforzheim area. According to statements from customers, the boss had probably already left... This is the best advertising... This is definitely NOT something we can recommend... The staff weren't very friendly

Excellent service and excellent food. We did not book a table in advance so we sat outside as we had our dog with us too. The food was delicious and very good value for money would definitely recommend pork with wheat beer sauce dumpling and cabbage. Superb !

Overall, we had a nice evening yesterday. We really liked the service and the ambience. However, we expected more from the food for the prices. Portion rather small and quality rather mediocre, nothing special, two rather small Maultaschen, for example, with a small salad plate for €19.80 is out of proportion for me. We've eaten much better for less money, which is a shame. Price performance is therefore rather poor.

Delicious food at reasonable prices. Unfortunately there is only one vegan dish on the menu and one vegetarian dish. There is still room for improvement here. The cheese spaetzle were very tasty. Service was good and friendly. Cool walls...in winter please dress warmly otherwise you'll be completely frozen by the end of the evening. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the condition of the toilets.

Selbst unserer Geschäftspartner waren sehr angetan von ihren Essen. Hier kommt nichts aus dem Convector, sondern wird a la minute gekocht und sofort serviert. Immer wieder gerne.

Es war ein schöner und gemütlicher Abend mit Freunden in der Klosterscheune. Der Kellner hat unsere Reservierung trotz vollem Hause noch angenommen und wir wurden kulinarisch verwöhnt. So macht auswärts Essen Spaß. Konnte meinen Geburtstag dort in vollen Zügen genießen. Danke für Alles war schön bei Euch gerne wieder einmal wann wir in der Region sind.😃👍👍👍

I was there for the first time in 2017 and was absolutely thrilled. Today, December 30, 2024, I picked up my mother from rehab, and we were both very impressed. IMPORTANT!!! You should make reservations well in advance, as it's very busy.

Fish was dry, little to no sauce. I think it was an exception because the food is actually good. It was also too cold in the room for me. Heat a little more on cold days.

After tobogganing in Dobel, we treated ourselves to a refreshment in the monastery barn. We were there for the first time and were thrilled. Great food, great service and the ambience is just amazing. My recommendation: Roasted beef liver cubes in balsamic jus with fried potatoes and a salad plate 😊🤗👌

Sehr schöne Location. Der Service an unserem Abend sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Gerichte waren ausreichend und im Gechmack überzeugten sie. Für Kinder gibt es eine extra Speisekarte und zum zeitvertreib Malstifte. Alles in allem ein gelungener Abend.

Wonderful for a wedding anniversary or other celebrations. But we also go there again and again throughout the year. The food tastes great and it was never a problem to accommodate our special requests. The boss is also very personable and the Klosterscheuer is always worth a visit.

Beautiful restaurant with a cozy and elegant atmosphere. We came especially to enjoy a Christmas meal. The goose leg was tender and the chestnuts, dumplings and red cabbage complemented the meal very well! The service was, as usual, very friendly and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

A historic place, beautifully renovated. The food was very good with a good price/performance ratio. It was a bit cold on the 1st floor, a jacket is recommended in winter.

The ambience is really very nice. But no one at our table really liked the food. It was definitely not bad, but still relatively poorly seasoned and tasteless. Unfortunately we had to wait a little longer for the main course. The bottom line is that this restaurant didn't really convince me. It was my first and probably last visit.

We were there on a Thursday evening. I had an onion roast. Medium fried and so tender and delicious 😋. Really great. My fiancé had Swabian Maultaschen. Were equally good. The ambience: It's a barn in the monastery district, only much cozier.

Yesterday we went there for dinner for the first time with eight people. We had an overall lovely evening. Gladly again.

Wir waren schon am frühen Abend hier, da es erfreulicherweise durchgehend warme Küche gibt. Wir haben uns ein Dutzend Schnecken ( Tipp: deutlich günstiger als 2 x halbes Dutzend zu bestellen ;-) ) als Vorspeise geteilt, die in einem sehr wohlschmeckenden Kräutersösschen daherkamen. Dazu wurden verschiedene frische Brotsorten gereicht - vorbildlich ! Als Hauptspeisen wurden Kässpätzle, 3 verschiedene Fischgerichte mit verschiedenen Beilagen gewählt - sehr gut zubereitet und die Garpunkte getroffen. Das einzige, was einen Hauch Kritik wert wäre, ist, dass die Gerichte sehr "vorsichtig" abgeschmeckt sind - ist vielleicht aber auch der kurenden Klientel geschuldet. Und wir sind ja selber Schuld, wenn wir nicht nach Salz und Pfeffer fragen. Alles in allem ein sehr gelungener Restaurantbesuch - top Service und man sitzt sehr gemütlich in altem Gemäuer mit viel Holz - einfach heimelig und absolut weiter zu empfehlen.
