Very attentive service that also made special requests possible. We had reserved and, in very nice weather, got the most beautiful table for 6 people with a direct view of the Regnitz. A great evening. In terms of price/performance it was the best we had on a long weekend in Bamberg. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed with the food, but otherwise the presentation was good. Had a sauerbraten with red cabbage and a dumpling. Unfortunately, the sauerbraten only tasted like a “normal roast” and had a “sour” sauce over it. Unfortunately, the red cabbage tasted so strongly of cinnamon that it was hardly edible. The dumpling was otherwise fine. The drinks were big and good as was the house beer.

We were full of anticipation at this brewery today, as it is supposedly a historic and well-known place that is often mentioned in travel guides. Precisely because it is a tourist destination, we thought that as a guest you would be received with a little respect - as you should actually expect in German hospitality. But what we experienced was simply shameful. As soon as we entered the inn area, we were greeted by the male waiter with a mixture of ignorance and outright rudeness. It wasn't just a bad day or overwhelmed service - no, it was targeted contempt, especially towards people who don't look "typically German". We observed this at several tables: guests who were not blonde and blue-eyed were either ignored or served in a tone that lacked any respect. We were stunned. Not only about the behavior of this waiter, but also about the fact that apparently no one in this brewery feels responsible for preventing such behavior. Unfortunately, based on what we experienced today and looking at the numerous similar reviews, this behavior does not appear to be an isolated incident. We are sad and angry at the same time - sad because this place, which should actually be a cultural flagship, leaves us with such a negative experience. And angry because the treatment of guests, especially in a tourist environment, was absolutely disrespectful. It is simply incomprehensible that people do not recognize how important tourism is economically for such businesses - and that a minimum level of respect and friendliness should not be a privilege, but a matter of course. We will definitely never come back - and we will share our experience with all our friends. Hoping that the owner of this brewery reads these lines and draws conclusions. The waiter in question in the inn area should urgently be held disciplinary accountable. Such behavior has no place in a house with history.

A visit to a traditional brewery should be a cultural and culinary experience - especially in a country like Germany, which is internationally renowned for its hospitality, rule of law and protection of human dignity. Unfortunately, we discovered today that these basic values ​​are blatantly violated in this company. What we as paying guests - with a clearly non-German appearance - had to experience in this inn was not only an expression of a deeply disrespectful attitude, but also showed behavior that, in our opinion, has characteristics of structural discrimination. In particular, the male waiter in the dining room repeatedly showed behavior that could only be described as racist: he ignored guests with an international background and spoke in a condescending tone, while other guests with visibly German origins were treated in a friendly and courteous manner. Such behavior not only contradicts the moral standards of a democratic society, but is in direct contradiction to Article 1 of the Basic Law, which states: “Human dignity is inviolable.” The General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) also protects people from discrimination due to, among other things, their ethnic origin. It is shameful that such legally enshrined principles are so violated in a place like this, which publicly presents itself as a cultural figurehead. Tourists and visitors are not just guests – they actively contribute to the economic stability of such businesses. You invest time, money and interest. Anyone who works in a tourist-oriented company has a special responsibility: not only in terms of friendly service, but also in terms of the country's representative external image. This responsibility has not been lived up to in any way here. We didn't feel welcome. We felt humiliated. And we leave with the firm conviction that no one, regardless of origin, should have to put up with such treatment - neither in Germany nor anywhere else. We advise anyone who wants to visit this place out of cultural interest or culinary curiosity to familiarize themselves with the reviews beforehand. The multitude of similar reviews speaks for itself. It remains to be hoped that the management of this institution will take the appropriate steps and deal with the scope of the behavior practiced here - not just out of economic interest, but out of fundamental responsibility towards the values ​​that should define Germany.

There are also large portions that leave you full and satisfied. The service was very nice and attentive, so we felt completely at home. We would definitely like to come back!

I was there on February 23rd, 2025 and the food, goulash with spaetzle and a black leek, tasted great, greetings to the kitchen. Service GREAT, the cool, direct and humorous waiter was absolutely quick at serving 😁👍

Great food, awesome beers! I had the Jägerschnitzel. The Braunbier and Schwarzbier are my favorites. Very cozy and historical atmosphere. We were also given a brewery tour by Carolin, which was very interesting and fun! I give historical beer tours in Bamberg myself and I still learned a lot of new things about the Klosterbräu during the tour. We were able to try the Schwarzbier fresh from the tank! I would definitely suggest coming here to eat, drink and taking the tour if possible!

The service here can be compared to the checkout staff at a discount store. Communication is poor, product knowledge is non-existent and please don't ask any questions. The location and ambience still seem very inviting. Personally, the brewery's beers are too "caramelly" for me, but that's a matter of taste. Since no information was available, a non-brewery bottled beer was the first choice.

The man at the bar doesn't know the beers he's tapping. Quote: "I just sell, not know." When we asked which beer was the least malty, he referred us to the brewery tour, which we didn't want to do and which we couldn't have booked so quickly. One of the oldest breweries in the world. Their bier selection is excellent. We went for the classic smokey bier, the taste was great. The ambience was a bit underwhelming for a brewery as old as this. And the service was a bit slow given that it wasn't busy when we visited.

We were greeted on Friday evening at 9:30 p.m. with the words 'Last round, only 1 beer left.' Without a word, the counter man threw a card on the table, certainly expecting that we wouldn't order anything. He preferred cleaning his counter. After 15 minutes we were cashed in. My point about opening hours until 11 p.m. was ignored.

I recently dined at Klosterbräu and while I enjoyed the food and drinks, I was deeply disturbed by the unprofessional and inappropriate behavior of one of your waiters. The waiter with the orangish hair made several insensitive and discriminatory comments during our meal. Even though we ordered beer, after inquiring about menu items that did not contain pork, he proceeded to ask us about our origins and whether our names were Mohammed or Abraham. He then made derogatory remarks about the Quran and the behavior of people in the modern age. These comments were completely uncalled for and have no place in a professional dining environment. It is unacceptable for a waiter to make assumptions about a customer's religious beliefs or to express personal opinions about religious texts. Furthermore, it is important to remember that dietary restrictions can be based on various factors, including personal preference, allergies, or cultural reasons. It is not the waiter's responsibility to speculate on a customer's motivations. I hope that you will address this issue with the waiter in question and ensure that such behavior does not occur again. I am disappointed by this experience and hope that it will not deter others from enjoying your restaurant.

The smoked beer is really, really good. The ambience is also very cool thanks to the heating tiled stove. Maybe a bit too bright overall. However, the waiter's unfounded whispers can only be countered with clear words

The smoked beer was delicious, but the waiter was very unfriendly. I saw other teams in front smiling and saying hello to the staff even after paying by card. However, when we paid by card, they showed their displeasure by throwing the receipt on the table. Being kind isn't that difficult, and it doesn't cost money. I hope you realize that even if you have good beer, this kind of unpleasant service lowers the overall quality of the store. And it was also quite rude for the waiter to only speak to us in English, even though he obviously spoke German (he had small talk in German with the rest of the team). Sometimes people don't speak English. If that's the case, I don't know why you're asking "English or German?" in the first place.

I can warmly recommend Klosterbräu to every beer lover. We had a fantastic brewery tour with Caro beforehand. She really told us a lot about the history of beer in and around Bamberg with a lot of fun and knowledge. Thank you again for this. Afterwards we still had enough time to enjoy the good beer and delicious food in the restaurant. Overall, it was a great lunch for us at the Klosterbräu.

Fantastic brewery pub, have multiple of their own beers on tap (en fass), an unfiltered beer and a dark beer being my favourites. Staff were friendly and happy to joke and quickly switched to English when hearing my poor German.

Food good, beer excellent. Ambiance - well, old, small, simple guest rooms. Service - outrageous. Unfortunately I have to say that. We reserved a week in advance and were given the service table right next to the counter. But what really made me angry was that even though we were sitting right next to the counter, the waiter at the counter completely ignored us. He was constantly serving walk-in customers, but he consistently ignored us. After almost a quarter of an hour (!) I made my presence known and a cheeky “take it easy” came back! Finally - after another 5 minutes - he found the time to ask us what we were getting. Thanks for that!

We stopped here at short notice after a short hike for lunch. The old cellar has been beautifully and simply restored. Apparently they worked with acoustic panels, because despite the old vault and the many people, the volume was really bearable. Beer and food both came quite quickly, the service was friendly and on point. The beer tasted very good, the food was also tasty and sufficiently portioned. Price/performance top. Gladly again!

Ich war so froh, doch noch einen Tisch in einem Traditionshaus bekommen zu haben, nachdem alle anderen am 3. Oktober geschlossen hatten! Die Freude war nicht von langer Dauer. Der Gastraum war ein Kellergewölbe und es kam mir so vor, als würden hier die Touristen abgestellt. Die Karte war kleiner als die online, der Service ok, wenn auch nicht toll, das gleiche galt für's Essen. Alles in allem: Schade, aber nicht mehr wieder.
