The hearty Franconian specialties are perfectly matched to the types of beer and are lovingly prepared. The portions are generous and the ingredients seem fresh and high quality. Anyone visiting Bamberg should not miss the Klosterbräu - a place where tradition meets enjoyment and you feel completely at home. Absolutely recommended!

The man at the bar doesn't know the beers he's tapping. Quote: "I just sell, not know." When we asked which beer was the least malty, he referred us to the brewery tour, which we didn't want to do and which we couldn't have booked so quickly. Another unpleasant scene while walking: guests who wanted to go into the restaurant were simply jostled by the waiter.

The service here can be compared to the checkout staff at a discount store. Communication is poor, product knowledge is non-existent and please don't ask any questions. The location and ambience still seem very inviting. Personally, the brewery's beers are too "caramelly" for me, but that's a matter of taste. Since no information was available, a non-brewery bottled beer was the first choice.

It has been the beer we have liked the most in Bavaria so far. The food was very delicious and Olga was very kind in serving us. Welcoming and friendly, she has also given us recommendations to visit certain places in our next city. Advisable.

One of the oldest breweries in the world. Their bier selection is excellent. We went for the classic smokey bier, the taste was great. The ambience was a bit underwhelming for a brewery as old as this. And the service was a bit slow given that it wasn't busy when we visited.

We were greeted on Friday evening at 9:30 p.m. with the words 'Last round, only 1 beer left.' Without a word, the counter man threw a card on the table, certainly expecting that we wouldn't order anything. He preferred cleaning his counter. After 15 minutes we were cashed in. My point about opening hours until 11 p.m. was ignored.

I recently dined at Klosterbräu and while I enjoyed the food and drinks, I was deeply disturbed by the unprofessional and inappropriate behavior of one of your waiters. The waiter with the orangish hair made several insensitive and discriminatory comments during our meal. Even though we ordered beer, after inquiring about menu items that did not contain pork, he proceeded to ask us about our origins and whether our names were Mohammed or Abraham. He then made derogatory remarks about the Quran and the behavior of people in the modern age. These comments were completely uncalled for and have no place in a professional dining environment. It is unacceptable for a waiter to make assumptions about a customer's religious beliefs or to express personal opinions about religious texts. Furthermore, it is important to remember that dietary restrictions can be based on various factors, including personal preference, allergies, or cultural reasons. It is not the waiter's responsibility to speculate on a customer's motivations. I hope that you will address this issue with the waiter in question and ensure that such behavior does not occur again. I am disappointed by this experience and hope that it will not deter others from enjoying your restaurant.

The smoked beer was delicious, but the waiter was very unfriendly. I saw other teams in front smiling and saying hello to the staff even after paying by card. However, when we paid by card, they showed their displeasure by throwing the receipt on the table. Being kind isn't that difficult, and it doesn't cost money. I hope you realize that even if you have good beer, this kind of unpleasant service lowers the overall quality of the store. And it was also quite rude for the waiter to only speak to us in English, even though he obviously spoke German (he had small talk in German with the rest of the team). Sometimes people don't speak English. If that's the case, I don't know why you're asking "English or German?" in the first place.

The smoked beer is really, really good. The ambience is also very cool thanks to the heating tiled stove. Maybe a bit too bright overall. However, the waiter's unfounded whispers can only be countered with clear words

The ambience met our expectations, as did the beer. We were a little disappointed in the taste of the Schäuferla, but unfortunately it was also very fatty. Bautz'ner mustard would have been helpful!

We arrived at 10:10pm and were not served even though the establishment was supposed to be open until 11pm. Went to bed thirsty. Too bad!

Reservations were not possible, we were told we should come back in the evening “if we were lucky”. Later we were refused the bar and left with dry throats. Too bad...

It closes at 10 and is really unfriendly. Avoid this store at all costs.

I can warmly recommend Klosterbräu to every beer lover. We had a fantastic brewery tour with Caro beforehand. She really told us a lot about the history of beer in and around Bamberg with a lot of fun and knowledge. Thank you again for this. Afterwards we still had enough time to enjoy the good beer and delicious food in the restaurant. Overall, it was a great lunch for us at the Klosterbräu.

Fantastic brewery pub, have multiple of their own beers on tap (en fass), an unfiltered beer and a dark beer being my favourites. Staff were friendly and happy to joke and quickly switched to English when hearing my poor German.

Great brewery restaurant. There is the very cozy rustic restaurant and the beautifully renovated brewery cellar. The staff is consistently very friendly. The dishes are hearty and very good. The most important thing - the beer is top and varied. You should go if you are in Bamberg.

Food good, beer excellent. Ambiance - well, old, small, simple guest rooms. Service - outrageous. Unfortunately I have to say that. We reserved a week in advance and were given the service table right next to the counter. But what really made me angry was that even though we were sitting right next to the counter, the waiter at the counter completely ignored us. He was constantly serving walk-in customers, but he consistently ignored us. After almost a quarter of an hour (!) I made my presence known and a cheeky “take it easy” came back! Finally - after another 5 minutes - he found the time to ask us what we were getting. Thanks for that!

Excellent Franconian Bier ! Nice outdoor seating.

We stopped here at short notice after a short hike for lunch. The old cellar has been beautifully and simply restored. Apparently they worked with acoustic panels, because despite the old vault and the many people, the volume was really bearable. Beer and food both came quite quickly, the service was friendly and on point. The beer tasted very good, the food was also tasty and sufficiently portioned. Price/performance top. Gladly again!

Oldest Brewery in Bamberg is certainly worth the visit. Traditional in every way. Loved the Brown Beer.

Ich war so froh, doch noch einen Tisch in einem Traditionshaus bekommen zu haben, nachdem alle anderen am 3. Oktober geschlossen hatten! Die Freude war nicht von langer Dauer. Der Gastraum war ein Kellergewölbe und es kam mir so vor, als würden hier die Touristen abgestellt. Die Karte war kleiner als die online, der Service ok, wenn auch nicht toll, das gleiche galt für's Essen. Alles in allem: Schade, aber nicht mehr wieder.

You can recommend food and drinks without a guilty conscience. There is still a bit of room for improvement in terms of service and friendliness. Small example... I'm normally used to thanking the guests and saying goodbye after paying (with a tip). These are the little things you learn in life. But otherwise I would happily recommend the restaurant.

We were there as a group. Everything went well. Food very good. Drinks always available. Highly recommended.

We were assured three times that there was no caraway on the shovel... the cabbage was covered in caraway and mustard seeds, the meat had no taste. Of course we had to pay full price. No animal should die for such bad food...

The positive first: the beers are really good - it's worth trying some here. Unfortunately, the service was not so good as it seemed rather slow or overwhelmed. You had to draw a lot of attention to yourself to even be able to order anything. Food was okay. But I would go here again just for the beers.

Unfortunately it was raining when we visited so couldn't use the outside terrace. We were served by a stern and unfriendly gentleman but the beer was good. Huge cellar room at the rear which was very busy.

Classic brewery with good food and great beers. Can only recommend. The classic is “Schwärzla”, a strong dark beer, but there are also other varieties. However, I can recommend the schnitzel type of food.

Four of us were there on Saturday lunchtime, we had reserved early and that was a good thing. In the cozy dining room everything is usually full, but there is still the vault with a lot of seats, so you should always get a seat. The host and the service are generally very friendly and attentive. The waiting time was great when the restaurant was full and the quality of the food was excellent. The Jägerschnitzel was nice and crumbly, the sauerbraten was tender as butter and the Schäuferla was perfect. We'll be back.

Had to wait 20 minutes, then after waving an unfriendly waitress came: What do you want? (English). Then just continue at speed. Didn't get much better - definitely room for improvement!

We called and wanted to make a reservation for two people, we were told it wasn't necessary, we could always find space for two. When we arrived there was no space available, although many large tables were free at the moment, certainly reserved for groups or other people. We were supposed to ask if there was room in the basement, but there wasn't. Klosterbräu in Bamberg was our favorite brewery and went there every time we were in Bamberg. Not anymore. Too bad.

Very nice new terrace, well worth seeing

As I sat there sipping on one of their smoked beers. I found myself transformed into a Franciscan monk, wearing nothing but a robe, a rope, a cap and raising my index finger up in attention. Really good beer!

At the Bamberg beer festival we entered this brewery, their aromatic black beer was delicious... the following morning we visited the brewery 😃👏

The disastrous service ruined the experience. A very nice beer garden in and of itself, but that's no use if you have to wait over 20 minutes for 2 drinks to be able to order them first. There were 4 waiters in sight at the time, one of whom was just busy putting up reservation signs. And the rest probably didn't want to work. The other guests also waved several times to pay/order. One employee simply waved back. Very, very bad

Great location in a quaint, beautiful, old brewery, but with poor service (poorly organized and unfriendly, drinks not complete, food not coming at the same time) and food below average for Bamberg standards (Schäuferla dry, Jägerschnitzel with thick, squishy breading). There are much better breweries and cellars in Bamberg.

Mixed feelings, not sure if would come back. The food was uneven (My God, the escallops with mushrooms were divine, the pork shoulder and cabbage not very flavourful). The table was little bit dirty, wouldn't hurt to wipe it before sitting the guests.

In my opinion the best place to drink beer in Bamberg! The prices are super affordable, I could almost say cheap for German prices. The service is fast and the waiters are friendly. Beautiful Biergarten in the back with a view of the lake.

The food here is really nothing special and there is still a lot of earth/sand in the salad! The Klosterbräu scores with good beer, friendly service and a beautiful beer garden with a view of the Regnitz.

After the interesting brewery tour, we actually booked a table. This was even confirmed by phone the day before, but it didn't quite work out and it was reorganized. Thanks for the alternative, we sat on a separate terrace. The orders took a long time, which was certainly due to the lack of staff, but the waitress made a real effort. Unfortunately the food wasn't that satisfying, once the bread was completely missing, the next had completely dry bread from the previous day.

Siamo stai per cena ieri sera, volevamo stare fuori ma minacciava pioggia ed il cameriere ci ha chiesto di acvomodarci dentro... Siamo stati nella parte più rustica, ovvero la birreria e mangiato la famosa spalla di maiale, schauferla.. Io ho preso un ottimo gulash, leggermente piccante ma fatto a regola d'arte..! Unico neo, credo che il cameriere fosse arrabbiato, era da solo ed aveva molto da fare, quindi era un presenza disagiate, parlava fra se e se... Con noi è stato gentilissimo. Ci tengo a dirlo..!

It was simply magnificent. First, the excellently guided tour of the brewery, which an apprentice and passionate brewer named Caro gave us lots of exciting information. Afterwards we went to the beer garden with a view of the river, great beer and delicious food. Definitely one of the highlights in Bamberg.

We visited the Klosterbräu because it was on our agenda as the oldest brewery. And the cellar beer was really fantastic! However, unfortunately we couldn't enjoy our stay at all. The waiter was just rude and rude from start to finish. We were yelled at because we asked where we could sit. The waiter also treated other guests rudely. We were shocked. As I was paying, I asked if we should take his behavior personally or if he's just like that all the time. There were then explanations that he was stressed and that some guests took so long to choose. But that doesn't matter to me as a guest! If you don't like doing the job, you should just leave it. Just terrible service. Because of the atmosphere, we didn't eat anything there. The outside area is nice, but we weren't inside. Never again, what a shame!

Everything was fine. From the brewery tour to the beer and the Schäufla. The restaurant has no new-fangled decoration and the service is friendly, competent and on the ball. The best smoked beer I have ever drunk.

Extremely unpleasant service staff in sweatpants as soon as he opens his mouth. Food and drink good. Ambience also very nice. However, I have never felt so uncomfortable because of every initially simply unusual and unpleasant, later arrogant and snippy comment from the service staff. Extremely negative vibes/vibrations. You just want to sink into the ground - so unpleasant. If something doesn't work, for example that the food unfortunately stopped coming, then you communicate it with a few sincere words and apologies and maybe offer an espresso or whatever, but don't blame everyone else and say that you haven't made any mistakes yourself. Successfully ensured that almost 20 people would never come back.

Unfortunately we cannot recommend the restaurant. Everything went wrong that evening. Numerous guests (including us) left the restaurant disappointed and angry. After waiting for more than an hour for the food, it suddenly said that no more food would come. It's an absurdity that this was only said after repeated requests. The guests then left the restaurant in droves. The service was visibly overwhelmed. Overall, a nice atmosphere, with an absolutely subterranean performance. Unfortunately there are no zero stars because this restaurant really deserves it today.
