Great drinks, we tried the mango and passion fruit ones: delicious and refreshing perfect for this hot mid August. Many thanks to the Romanian young lady who took care our orders and provided a very nice service.

We are/were regular guests at "Kittichai" Alter Markt in Cologne, and have done so for many years. Why? Quite simply: the freshly prepared dishes from the Tai cuisine were and still are outstanding. Full marks. However, the service and ambiance have deteriorated significantly recently. The female waitress was, not for the first time, slow, inattentive, and disinterested. On the last visit: - A wasp in the chili sauce (we were sitting inside). The waitress commented: "That poor wasp." - A scrap of paper in the soup. A tired shrug. - Ordered a drink without ice, got it with ice. And the restaurant was only moderately busy at the time. So, no reason to use hecticness as an excuse. Add to that the eternally monotonous, boring, blaring "background music," which, in terms of volume, would be more suited to a club with dance floor music. But it no longer has anything to do with suitable background music for a leisurely Tai meal. It's annoying to constantly have to ask if the "music" could be turned down a bit. The employees seem to have become a bit jaded about this. This won't chase away wasps in the summer, but it will attract regular customers. What a pity!

I've eaten here twice in 10 days and highly recommend it. The staff are friendly and helpful in making choices. The menu is extensive enough, but not so overwhelming that it's hard to choose. We tried the homemade lemonade and the homemade iced tea yesterday and were very impressed. Very aromatic and not cloyingly sweet like most commercially produced drinks. I've been here with different people each time, and all four dishes were very tasty and the portions were generous.

The tofu and vegetable dish tastes really good and fresh and contains a wide variety of vegetables. They also offer a large selection of drinks at reasonable prices. It just sometimes takes a while to get served, and the music is so loud that you can hardly hear each other, but otherwise everything was great.

We orderd phad tai, and something with yellow curry, this was one of the best thais resteraunts i ever eaten before, Price is verry good for this kind of food.

It's a nice place to sit on the market square. The food is okay. The drinks never arrived. You can't really enjoy your meal when you feel like you're dying of thirst. We couldn't ask for service because there was hardly anyone there we could have spoken to. We went back in afterwards just to pay for the food. So: not a recommendation.

We spontaneously stopped by Kitty Chai for dinner. A reservation wasn't necessary. Unfortunately, the view of Heumarkt was obscured because the stalls for the Pride market were set up there, so we only saw the tarpaulin on the back wall. But the food was delicious, as always, and the cocktails were great. We'd happily go back again.

A green oasis in Cologne's desert Delicious, healthy food. The finest noodles, with curry and pepper, and both vegan and perfectly prepared meat, which is quite rare in Cologne. Modern atmosphere and music. Very clean. The service is fast, witty, and competent. A lovely place to go out with a well-mannered group to chat or celebrate.

Fabulous thai style meal, very generous portion, also ordered a salad, the meal overwhelmed me. I eat a lot of thai food, I would say this is up with the best, outside of Thailand itself

KittiChai has great cocktails; I highly recommend the MaiThai. The food is okay, though not 100% authentic. For example, fish sauce is an absolute must in Thai cuisine – the chef here (according to his own statement) doesn't know any fish sauce! ??? But it was still tasty.

We were there last Saturday around 3 p.m. Since we like Asian food, we spontaneously went in without knowing it. In short: The food and drinks were excellent and the price-performance ratio was pleasing. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating; we even got a free drink to try (homemade lemonade with ginger and basil). Very tasty and refreshing. Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the kittichai on Alter Markt.

The wrong rice was definitely used for the sushi, and when I tried to lift the sushi, it fell apart. The wait was far too long. The drink was unusually sweet, and the Coke had no flavor.

The sushi doesn't taste good at all. The rice isn't the right kind, so the sushi falls apart. I wouldn't recommend the Coke either, as it just tastes like water. We had better expectations, so we're very disappointed.

I really liked the food here—it’s honestly one of the better Asian meals I’ve had in Germany. Maybe it’s because it had been a while since I last had Asian food, but I really enjoyed my meal. They offer a wide selection of dishes and drinks, including alcoholic options, so there’s something for everyone. The prices are reasonable too, which is always a plus. Overall, I’d recommend this place if you’re craving Asian food and looking for something tasty and affordable.

Delicious food, nice place with small drawbacks We went to Kitty Chai in Cologne and overall it was a very nice visit. The food was delicious, the drinks were good, the atmosphere was very pleasant and the staff were super friendly. The price-performance ratio is also absolutely right. A small negative point: Unfortunately, the chicken had an unpleasant taste of its own, which was a shame. Nevertheless, we would come back – 4 out of 5 stars!

A culinary highlight in Cologne – absolutely recommended! My visit to Kittichai was a real experience! The modern and stylish ambience creates a pleasant atmosphere in which you immediately feel at home. The furnishings combine Asian elements with urban chic – a real eye-catcher.  The service was consistently friendly and attentive. The staff was always present without being intrusive and looked after our well-being. The food was outstanding! The dishes were freshly prepared, tastefully balanced and authentic. Particularly noteworthy is the mango curry – a perfect combination of sweet and spicy. The homemade lemonades were also refreshing and delicious.  The price-performance ratio is great. The prices are absolutely justified for the quality of the food and the service provided. Overall, a thoroughly successful evening. I can recommend Kittichai to anyone looking for authentic Thai cuisine in Cologne. I'll definitely be back!

Food: Bad, has nothing to do with Asian food. I wanted to give 5 stars for the atmosphere, but not after I saw a rat running from under a booth towards the back. Think twice before you come here.

Food was generous in size but lacked anything in flavour for Thai food. Pad Thai had wrong ingredients and did not taste anything remotely like a traditional pad Thai. Massaman curry was anything but a massaman curry. Had some taste but was not the traditional massaman flavour. Server was attentive to taking our order and cleaning up. Inside the restaurant was nice and a good atmosphere. Very concerned with the food. Did witness a patron salting her dish over 5 times.

It's a snack stand in the train station assembly line and you have to eat quite uncomfortable in front of 100 people, but I've never eaten so good, it was quick, friendly, clean and inexpensive, always great

The restaurant is located in a beautiful location in the center of Cologne. They offer Asian cuisine and burgers. The food was good but the drinks were very too sweet. Service was quick but a bit inattentive.

Was there on 17-8-2024. Waited 40 minutes and never got served nor was our order was even taken. I called the attention of the server after waiting 20 minutes and again at the 30 minute mark, even approaching him the second time. He just blew me off and was told to wait my turn—this after he served two other group of diners who arrived later than us. After the 40th minute of waiting we figured out we were not getting served at all. It was not like it was busy as more than half the table was unoccupied.

Service is slow and careless when the restaurant is empty. Cocktail were also very bad and the music inside was inappropriate and very loud. The restaurant is located directly on the Altermarkt. There are tables outside and one inside. The concept of ordering at the counter and being served at the table runs through all branches. The team is very nice and everything goes quickly and neatly. The sushi and the Thai soup were very tasty at moderate prices.

Used to be my favorite. Restaurant... However, I can no longer recommend it. Was there for lunch today with my family. Ordered 2 main courses. In addition, the drink (according to the lunch menu) should be free. Since my husband paid, I saw the bill too late and there was nothing that could be done. It's a real shame that even the service staff doesn't think about it and point it out to my husband! We'll never come back... There are much better restaurants with better quality and staff!

This is my second trip to this place and I'm sure it won't be the last. Nice, not expensive, the food is also tasty.

It looks like Thai food but it is not. The Pad Thai with chicken tasted okay, but not the way Pad Thai should taste. The green curry is also not Thai and prepared with cheap (unpalatable) coconut milk. The food is also not spicy. There is something that looks like sambal oelek, but that is not part of Thai cuisine and does not taste like Thai food. Price is reasonable, you can eat there but don't expect authentic Thai cuisine.

Walked in and asked for a table, got one straight away. Asked for an English menu, got one straight away. Other half ordered a meal each and two alcoholic drinks, the bill came to £40! The food came out quickly and was huge portions, fresh and extremely yummy really can't complain at all.

The burger was good. However, the curry we ordered was way better. The service leaves a bit to be desired, but I think the lady also had one of her first days in the restaurant, so that's not so bad. All in all it was good and I would eat there again. P/L was good.

After 25 minutes we asked at the counter about the cocktails we had ordered and of course paid for. Clumsy answer But then cocktails came, an absolute disgrace. Hardly edible. We didn't complain to anyone. Kitty Chai crab alley definitely better. But there are many nice restaurants in the old town, it definitely doesn't have to be the kitty chai.

This is the place where you can find a little different world than normally in Germany. This Thai restaurant will bring you everything what you need. Fantastic food in very good prices, also great soups and drinks. Very nice and fast service so you can have toasty and healthy "fastfood". The inside design is just perfect for this kind of place. Wir waren als Familie mit kleinen Kindern hier essen. Die SummerSprings und WannTans waren hausgemacht, sehr lecker und haben den Kids sehr geschmeckt. Sushi war nicht ganz unser Fall. Aber die Udon Nudeln und das Pad haben uns Eltern auch gut geschmeckt. Preise für die Lage waren vollkommen in Ordnung und der Service hat gepasst. Wir würden wiederkommen.

Wait for two cocktails 30 minutes, even though we went twice to ask if they will bring it soon. On the other hand, it doesn't seem fair to us that two people who arrived almost at the same time as us quickly received the food and their drinks (cocktails too).

We wait 50 minutes for two cocktails. After 40 minutes we asked if they had forgotten us, but they went to make the cocktail, but a little later nothing. Had to ask again, service could be better.

Amazing tasty food. The quantity is more than enough for one person. Seems to be the place does not have enough staff. Had to wait in a queue to order. However food arrived within a reasonable time after ordering.

The employees were very disrespectful. We waited half an hour to have just 3 coffees even though only 2 tables were occupied but they were playing on their phones and I just asked why it took so long? They said that's all, we can refund your money. I've never seen "Asi" like that!

You order and pay for the food and drinks directly at the cash register and it is brought to your table. The drinks came after about 15 minutes and the food after 35 minutes. That's definitely too long, especially when the store is empty. Due music takes some getting used to. The mango curry tastes very good and the portion is good. If it weren't for the other circumstances, this would be a good restaurant

Das Essen und die Getränke bestellt und bezahlt man direkt an der Kasse und es wird an den Tisch gebracht. Die Getränke kamen nach ca. 15 Minuten und das Essen nach 35 Minuten. Das ist definitiv zu lange, vor allem wenn der Laden leer ist. Due Musik ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Das Mango -Curry schmeckt sehr gut und die Portion ist gut. Wenn die anderen Umstände nicht wären, ust das ein gutes Restaurant

Very tasty food which is always freshly prepared

This year I was also at Kittichai in Krebsgasse and was pleasantly surprised. I gave it four stars. Things were a little different in Kittichai at the Alter Markt. What particularly bothered me was the really loud music (deep techno). I ate fried rice with duck and peanut sauce. There was plenty of duck at Kittichai in Krebsgasse, and here at the Alter Markt the duck was also crispy, but significantly less so. But the peanut sauce was really nothing. Although it was served separately, I made the mistake of adding it to the meal without trying it first. There only two My son had sushi twice 🍣 and thought it was great (5 stars). It's difficult to rate service because you have to order at the counter. My conclusion: If you had the choice, you should head for Kittichai on Neumarkt.
