Everything was super, very tasty, moderately spicy, but... either we didn’t see it, or the portion sizes weren’t indicated on the menu, and we ordered so much out of hunger that we weren’t able to eat it.

The food was quite good and authentic, but not absolutely exceptional. Unfortunately, the Thai who served us seemed really annoyed and rude. I've never experienced anything like that in a Thai restaurant or any other Asian restaurant, and hopefully it was just an exception – you don't feel welcome otherwise.

For us as a family with two children, Chok Dee is our favorite Thai restaurant in Cologne. All dishes are excellently prepared and taste authentic.

I'll never understand how blind people can be to what's going on. The Corona warnings from 2022/23 are still hanging there, and the menu is marked with notes from 2024 that unfortunately the prices will have to be increased. I ordered a dish with two peppers (so spicy). The dish that came out was mediocre at best, with zucchini, mushrooms, and bell peppers. None of it was exciting or special, or even remotely spicy. The flies are a real problem, though. When you sit outside, it's normal for insects to be in the air, but when about 30 flies pounce on your food after two minutes, that's not a particularly good sign. The service is nice, and surprisingly, the restaurant is always busy, but please do something about the hygiene and the appearance. Nothing has been done here in a long time, and it shows. I felt really uncomfortable, so please leave the tourist dishes off the menu. Chum Chay, for example, does it much better and in a more contemporary way.

We were walking past the street and happened to see the Chok Dee sign. We found the entrance around the corner. We were immediately captivated by the relaxed holiday atmosphere and the opportunity to sit outside in the shade. A piece of Thailand in Cologne. The staff were enthusiastic and gave us advice, really strangely friendly... you'd never know them again. We truly felt at home. The food was delicious and came very quickly! We ordered the 58 (fish) with rice and the 30 (minced pork with vegetables); we haven't tasted it that way in a long time. The ingredients were fresh and carefully selected. We were hangry at first, but in the end, we left with two big smiles and warm stomachs, and we'd love to go back every week.

Chok Dee is a solid Thai in the middle of a neighborhood in Cologne. During lunch they have reduced prices for a wide selection of their dishes. We tried two and they were super tasty. Proper Thai food. The lichies curry with crispy duck was out of this world. Service was attentive and the atmosphere is nice, too. Strong cocktails. Decent wine. 10/10 for this local Thai spot.

Since I was born, living in both Thailand and Germany, I have never encountered such rude staff. The male Thai staff spoke sarcastically and had no manners. Don't even think about service work. They shouldn't even use such words and gestures with other humans. The customers were talking while the staff was taking the order, asking each other to make sure if this was good. The staff interrupted and said, "Look at me, not at him. Ask me, not him." We ordered a thick Tom Yum soup. The customers were talking about what kind of Tom Yum would be good. Maybe seafood. The staff snapped back, "No, of course not. So what do you want?" Then he said that since he didn't look at the menu, he brought me the menu and snatched the menu away from the customer's face. We called the owner to talk. The owner said, "That's just the way they are." Another female Thai staff added, "That's how it is. You want me to bow and be respectful like in Thailand. We don't do that here. We, the customers, don't want the staff to be respectful or anything. We've been in Germany and have never encountered any German staff who behaved this rudely before. You don't have to be a service-minded person. Just have basic manners towards other people. After hearing all this, we said, Then I will review it honestly.. The original employee said, "If you have a problem with me, clear it with me, not with the restaurant.".. So we argued, "Since you are an employee of the restaurant, it means the restaurant has already selected you.. Or does the restaurant accept people without selecting?".. The employee replied, "Yes, everyone is accepted here.".. Hearing this, I am not surprised at all why they let this kind of person work here. The taste of the food is average, not as good as eating in Thailand.. But the behavior of the employee is like a customer asking for free food. No matter what the food is like, if you encounter this kind of service, it will definitely not be delicious.. The duty of a waiter is to serve and advise customers according to their needs, not to speak like an investigator, yelling when customers are hesitant or suspicious. After we warned them, they said, "I'm sorry. Is that the end of it?" I can't believe that the restaurant would accept someone with this kind of personality to work.. Or does the restaurant accept anyone, as the employee said?.. If that's really the case, I suggest you go and hire a homeless person at the train station to work there. At least he has more manners than this employee.

Very Disappointing Experience – Rude Staff and Lack of Responsibility My friends and I were looking forward to a nice Thai meal at Chok Dee Thai Restaurant – instead, we had one of the worst customer service experiences we've ever had. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were treated with extreme rudeness and impatience by the Thai waiter. He was very pushy and constantly pressured us to order immediately. He repeatedly interrupted us while we were trying to discuss our options, saying things like, "So, what do you want now? Say it!" When I hesitated briefly to discuss with my friend whether we wanted seafood or chicken in our Tom Yum soup, he snapped at me: "Don't look at her – look at me!" He was visibly annoyed that we took a moment to decide together. He then accused me of not reading the menu properly and simply snatched it out of my hands. That's when my friend – very calmly and politely – spoke to the owner to point out the waiter's behavior. But instead of addressing the situation, she simply waved it off and said, "That's just the way he is, that's his way." We were shocked by this indifference. When the waiter later brought the food, my friend confronted him directly and explained how rude and disrespectful his behavior was. The waiter simply replied sarcastically, "I already apologized – what more do you want?" – a completely insincere "apology." He clearly wanted to continue the discussion rather than simply remain professional. He even said, "If you have a problem with me, then have a problem with me – but don't complain about the restaurant." Another waitress also simply said, "That's just the way he is." When we pointed out that the staff represented the restaurant, the waiter said, "Yeah, they hire anyone here!" – that says it all. At one point, a staff member even mockingly asked if we wanted the waiter to "bow and apologize in the Thai way," adding, "This is Germany—we don't do that!" We simply wanted friendly, respectful treatment—no over-the-top gestures. Finally, we said if that was their standard, so be it—but we would share our honest opinion publicly. If you value polite service, respect, and hospitality, then I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant. The way we were treated and the complete lack of responsibility on the part of management were absolutely unacceptable.

If you’re looking for the best Thai food in the Rhineland, this is the place! The food exceeded all my expectations, even better than some restaurants in Bangkok. The dishes were served quickly, and the staff was incredibly friendly. You can even ask for a Coke with lots of ice, just like in Thailand. Truly an amazing experience! It’s so delicious. It’s a life-saver for Thai kids living abroad. When you enter the restaurant, there are only Thais. You know it’s real. If you’re looking for a delicious, spicy Thai restaurant that’s well-prepared, this is the place. I highly recommend it. I’ve been here twice and I’ve been impressed every time. 🥰🥺

We have already been at Chok Dee restaurant several times. It got a good sized terrace and and a lovely inside ambience. The Thai food and cocktails, drink were fantastic. Everything was very tasty, on point, freshly prepared and cooked authentic Thai kitchen. The price range is good, service was excellent 👌 and gave us a very welcoming feeling. I'm eating there wvery time when visiting Cologn. Great food and friendly staff.

I really liked the food and the outdoor terrace but the 'pet' mouse / 'community mouse' that lives in the yard is a little too bold for my liking ! 'Danger Mouse' is cute, but even though he lives outside you don't really want a mouse dashing around your feet and running up your trouser leg. I'm not suggesting Danger Mouse should be euthanised, but he needs to be caught and sent on a permanent holiday to somewhere like Bonn or Wuppertal!

I go to Chok Dee quite often, i.e., at least twice a month 🍜 So far, we've always been satisfied. But there was one situation that was simply unacceptable and certainly incomprehensible‼️ When I called once to reserve a table for 4 people, I was told: This reservation and the desired table too...-) On that day, unfortunately, we were kept waiting for a good 20-25 minutes and then given a different table, i.e., not the one I had expressly requested and confirmed as a guest‼️ I then politely spoke to the (OLDER WAITER IN JOGGING PANTS) who has been working there for a long time. ``` He responded to my question in a rather rude and cheeky manner, without even looking me in the eye, and angrily told me that it's Saturday evening, so you'll just have to wait and that you have no idea who you reserved a table with...-) Afterwards, he left me standing there like a fool. I asked again for a more substantive discussion, but Keller apparently thought it better to hide in the kitchen 😅 A short wait: No problem, but not even 20-25 minutes and not getting the agreed-upon table, and then being approached in a rather clumsy and moody manner by a waiter in sweatpants, is completely unacceptable in my opinion‼️ This for your information. It was edible but tasted pretty bland. The noodles were overcooked, and even though you asked for spice when ordering, it wasn't spicy at all. The portions were also relatively small, so if you're really hungry, you probably won't get full from one meal. The staff weren't particularly friendly, seemed a bit annoyed the whole time, and didn't know exactly which dish was being served. The dishes all arrived at different times, so they weren't completely warm when you ate them. All in all, it wasn't that great, and it was also relatively expensive.

We've been regular customers at this wonderful Thai restaurant for a long time and simply love it! We've visited many Thai countries, and this restaurant brings authentic Thai food right to our homes. The food is simply excellent—the best there is! Authentischer geht's nicht! Ich habe schon sämtliche (to be fair, NOCH nicht ganz alle) ausprobiert. Hier werden auch die richtigen thailändischen Gemüsesorten verwendet (jedoch bestenfalls nochmal bei Bestellung betonen). Es schmeckt einfach wie in Bangkok. Perfekt!

A small, unassuming restaurant with, unfortunately, very inconspicuous quality. On our first visit, our dishes tasted authentic and fresh. We were thrilled. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to order dessert. We also waited in vain for over an hour for the cocktail menu for a final round, and the bill arrived after about another 40 minutes. A real shame! On our next visit, the staff completely ignored us from the start. Our reserved table wasn't available either, so we had to wait a long time. Unfortunately, the food was truly disastrous; the meat was inedible. It consisted of 90% cartilage, which is a real shame. When we asked the waiter about it, we were told that meat deliveries vary in quality and sometimes in bad... In our opinion, such food shouldn't be served. As "compensation," we were offered a Coke... Unfortunately, the wait times on this visit were also unreasonable. A real shame; after our first visit, we had a really good impression (apart from the wait)!

It's magical and one of the most authentic Thai restaurants in Cologne. This is the ideal place for anyone who wants to eat original Thai. Since we are Thai ourselves, we always order from the Thai menu, which has special dishes. But even on the normal menu, all the dishes are very authentic. The service is always great and the atmosphere is loud like in Thailand ;)

The food is incredibly tasty and the portions leave nothing to be desired, and the price is absolutely justified. Totally inconspicuous from the outside, somewhat remote. Inside is simply furnished, with a few typical accents. Small rooms but very comfortable. Large selection of dishes to suit all tastes. The nice waiter explained some of the dishes to us, especially when it came to spiciness. As you can see from the pictures, everything was very tasty 😋. P.S. Toilets are spacious and clean.

Today was my worst visit to this restaurant. From the service to the food, everything was unsatisfactory. 1. Food: • I ordered the soup, which was fine, but the second dish, the papaya salad with crab, was an absolute disaster. It's hard to believe that for €14 I got a plate that only contained a single crab. The crab was even cut in half, giving the impression that it was “saved.” Since we eat this dish often, we know how much should normally be in it, and €14 for just one crab is completely unreasonable. 2. Service: • When I asked why my plate had fewer crabs than the table next to us, the server responded with a completely unprofessional "I don't know, it's in the kitchen." This shows a clear lack of sense of responsibility. When I asked another waiter why the other table's plate had more crab, he just said "I'll check with the kitchen and get back to you later" but I never got an answer. We had long since finished our meal, but at this point there was still no answer. I couldn't shake the feeling that the service here was really bad. 3. Unequal treatment between tables: • What annoyed me even more was that the table next to us ordered the same dish but had three times as many crabs. They may have been favored because they were Thai, which constitutes unacceptable inequality. 4. Value for money: • For a dish that only contains one crab, the price of €14 is completely overpriced. The relationship between price and quality is not right here at all. 5. Conclusion: • From the food to the service to the price, I was completely disappointed. That was definitely my last visit to this restaurant.

A spur of the moment decision to eat here tonight resulted in one of the best meals we've had for quite a while. My curry is the second and third pic (needed two pics to show what was hiding under all that duck!). Absolutely amazing presentation and flavours. Staff very friendly and helpful. Husband had a White Cloud cocktail, again beautifully presented and tasted amazing (great price too). Very happy to recommend this little gem! One thing to note - cash only, don't be caught out.

I came especially for lunch and ordered my favorite dish, Kana Moo Grob. The waiter said there are no more broccoli at the moment, but there is something similar with green beans. I said yes, then I would like to take it. After the meal the amount on the bill was €16.5, not the cost of the lunch menu. When I asked, another waiter said "You DIDN'T say you wanted lunch AND you said the dish number of the noramel dish." But I didn't even say the number, just the name of the dish. But the waiter who got the order from me simply stood behind the other person who forced me to pay. Why would I come extra for lunch if I wanted to pay €6 extra for the same meal? For 4 years I have always simply said the name of the dish at lunch and of course I was paid as a lunch menu because it is lunchtime and the dish is on the lunch menu! I felt like I was being cheated out of my mind. Never come there again.

A nice location in itself. Was also mostly visited by locals. In my opinion, this is the best indicator of a successful regional cuisine. However, this initially good intuition was quickly clouded by the inattentive and sometimes unprofessional behavior of the service employees. Our orders were received very late and there were many misunderstandings. After the food was served to us and we deliberately ordered two dishes spicy, we discovered after the first taste that there was not a single hint of spiciness. After repeated requests to adjust the level of spiciness, we were skillfully ignored. When we asked again, Samba Olek was presented to us in a relatively emotionless manner. So When we were clearing up, we asked whether everything was OK and we explained the circumstances. The answer was that we could have boiled it with chilies from the start and that we would get the level of spiciness we wanted on the next visit. Definitely not a good experience!

Das Qualität der Speisen ist hervorragend, die Portionen sehr groß und das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis bei sehr niedrigen Preisen ausgezeichnet. Zudem wird sich an zeitliche Vorgaben bei der Bestellung immer gehalten. Ich kann dieses Lokal nur wärmstens empfehlen. Ich bin mehrfach im Monat dort und wurde noch nie enttäuscht

The food I ordered came quickly, but was quite bland and barely seasoned! The service was quick, friendly and cheerful! Top! Regarding the ambience, I have to say that I was there at a rush hour and it was therefore really loud in the place. Would go there off-peak if possible.

Unfortunately it's no longer what it used to be. Unfriendly service. Greasy, poorly washed dishes. One meal was inedible. After a complaint, a new meal was served that was carelessly prepared. Our complaint was met with a shrug of the shoulders. The owners didn't care. We had to pay full price. We won't be going here again, even though we were regulars for many years. Too bad!

Unfortunately, the fish we ordered for almost 30 euros was a huge disappointment. It was so over-fried that there was barely any flesh left—just crispy skin. Very disappointing, as I could hardly eat any of it. For the price, I expected much better.

The service from each of the three waiters that came to keep reminding us that the table is only reserved till 8 was very rude and kept interrupting the conversation we were having meeting after a long time. Instead of helping us decide the order because my friend had certain food allergies, they just got irritated that we were not hurrying up with everything given their limited reservation time. Alot of attitude and not a hint of friendliness. Food was good but will never go back to see their rudeness and unnecessary attitude.

We come in, no hello, welcome. First question to us in a rude way: reserved? The other male staff has lost all desire and joy in life. After a long wait, I call a waiter to order (he was older, I asked him if he was the boss, he said no) He reacted listlessly, with no smile on his face, when asked if he could recommend something from the menu: there is so much on the menu, I can't recommend it. Really listless, unfriendly. The food is ok. But I wouldn't come again just because of the staff.

The owners serve poorly, it seems like they give you food for free, there is only one waitress who is trans, she is very friendly, very polite, otherwise they have no people skills, they serve with a bad face and disgust! Also......yesterday we called, we ordered two curries and a fried rice with chicken that in the restaurant costs 9 euros, today they charge us 12.50 for this dish of rice with fried chicken, the 2 curries yesterday 18 euros, today We call and they charge 29, ...they say one is a menu and the other is not a menu..........but they are the same dishes, there is no difference, it is not a fair explanation. What is the difference between a menu and a normal dish? No difference, neither desserts nor coffee. It's so simple to say......we were wrong! The worst of all is the attention, how lucky the people who write..........:(very good attention) they were lucky or are from the same country as them! The food is perfect, exquisite, it's a shame that their fame goes to their heads and they don't know how to treat customers!

One of the best Thai places in Köln. The food is delicious. The flavours are excellent. However for the price, the quantity is small. The iced coffee and iced tea are some of the best outside of south east Asia. It's quite busy on weekends so make a reservation if you can. Another positive thing, they accept card payments

In my opinion Chok Dee is the best authentic Thai restaurant in Cologne! And I'm originally from Thailand. Very tasty food and good value for money. Highly recommended 👍🏼

I've tried it often enough but nothing comes close to Thai iced tea, whether pure, with lemon or with milk! Ps. Food is great too!

Food is excellent. You cant pay with card under 20e and if you give them more than the amount owed they don't give you the change back. It ruins a bit the experience
