The food was delicious, but the service was truly abysmal. Even honest and constructive feedback was ignored. What a shame!

Before reaching the terrace, you walk through an underpass; Several guests were standing there smoking, and you literally walked through a terrible wall of smoke. Not normally pleasant, but at 29 degrees; terrible!

Apple wine and good, home-style cooking. Nice and cool on hot days. We'd be happy to return.

It's so delicious. I came here on the recommendation of a local Korean. Of all the places I've eaten, this is the best.

It was pleasant to enjoy a meal at a table in the courtyard in a residential area. My honest impression of the apple wine was that it was just average wine. The Nuremberg sausages were very tasty, and the accompanying sauerkraut and hash browns were also warm and delicious. Payment is cash only, so that's the only thing to note. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I just waited in vain for a quarter of an hour to be served. Then I left.

Once a cult favorite, today it's simply overpriced. Small portions, subpar taste, and you can definitely save yourself the trouble these days. Note: Cash only!

Not a fan of: only cash. It is one of the most known and tasty places in Frankfurt, and then only cash.. it is not a problem to withdraw cash, but still a downer. Food is good ✌️

Nice apple wine restaurant in Sachsenhausen with a lovely courtyard. The food is delicious, but the portions weren't that big, at least for us. One star deducted because there's no card payment option.

The middle of the three apple wine restaurants on "the island" on Textorstraße. The seating is pleasant in the courtyard under the trees, in our case under the awning when it's raining. The large table was reserved when we arrived at 12:30 p.m., but the waitress explained that guests would arrive later and that we could sit in the corner. At lunchtime, a few regulars were seen taking advantage of "today's inflation special," which refers to a cheap lunch offer with smaller portions. It was from this very "herring inflation special" (which I recognized from the handwriting 😊 😊 😊) that I ate the Königsberger Klops with a wonderfully successful caper cream sauce, with no shortage of unripe flower buds. My companions were very pleased with the handkäs mit Musik (music cheese), turkey gyros, and green sauce with eggs. It wasn't busy on this slightly rainy, humid afternoon. Therefore, the staff, who often stood together and chatted, were certainly attentive to our needs. A lovely old Frankfurt restaurant (since 1906), which I enjoy visiting every now and then.

The food was okay, but it could be better. The service was very nice and friendly. It was top-notch. The ambiance would have been great, too, but the tables were so close together that you could hardly move. You were practically sitting back to back with the person in front of you. And that was anything but comfortable.

Very tasty. Large portions, good value for money. The service is in Frankfurt dialect, super friendly, and really quick. If you want to get to know Frankfurt, this is the place for you. Don't forget the lovely medlars for dessert.

It's incomprehensible why people are loudly handling soda crates right next to the dining area...it feels like a drinks dealer...

I visited this place on my work trip to Frankfurt. I have visited Frankfurt before and I have tried Apfelwein before, but it was never my thing. Until I ended up at this place... I found my love for Apfelwein here as they serve one of the best ones! I also tried traditional dishes and ordered a whole bowl of the famous green sauce on the side. EVERYTHING was delicious. Here I also had my first experience to be seated with strangers at the same table (obviously something quite common) and thus I had a nice conversation with some nice people. Personnel was great as well, very polite, explained in English what I couldn't figure out myself. I would recommend and would go again!

Great “Äppelwoi Restaurant” with a really fantastic beer garden. Very friendly and hardworking staff. The food is typical of Hesse and was very tasty. Price - performance fits. Gladly again!!

I ordered fried fish. There was potato salad as a side dish. The tartar sauce was nice and creamy. The portion was good. Both the fried fish and the potato salad tasted good. For dessert I ordered hot apple fritters. This one was also delicious. The service was nice.

Rustic cider restaurant with a beautiful courtyard, both in summer and winter. In my opinion, you get the best Frankfurter Schnitzel in the whole city here. The fried potatoes with it are also phenomenal! The apple cider is also very good and is of course part of it. The service is courteous and always on point. Absolute recommendation!

Dazu tranken wir einen **feinen Weißburgunder** und natürlich durfte auch ein echter **Ebbelwoi** nicht fehlen – herrlich erfrischend und passend zur Atmosphäre. Der **Service war hervorragend** – aufmerksam, herzlich und mit einem charmanten Schuss Frankfurter Originalität. Wer authentische regionale Küche sucht, ist hier genau richtig. A service worker who lets a dog lick her hands and her extremely long fingernails (she fed the dog by hand) and then brings food and drinks directly to the tables with her licked hands/nails without cleaning them is really disgusting and certainly does not meet hygiene standards. It is - unfortunately increasingly in Frankfurt - only possible to pay in cash. It is generally known what intentions are being pursued with this. We know all the apple wine restaurants in Frankfurt and always change. This was the last time we were in the cannon steppe. Unfortunately, the atmosphere is no longer what it used to be. Admittedly, we have never been treated as unkindly as this time. We were incredibly embarrassed in front of our guests (non-Frankfurters) by how a traditional restaurant presented itself.

Food was super delicious! Service attentive and very nice. Dogs were welcome and there was a sausage from the chef. Thank you, we would love to come back.

Very disappointing. When making the reservation, I had looked on the homepage beforehand for possible "cash payment only" tricks, but found no information. When it was said when paying that card payment was impossible and that it was written everywhere (can only be found on page 2 of the menu), the tone became harsher, including lying that it was also on the homepage. The staff was absolutely unfriendly and impossible. Items had already been written onto the invoice that never arrived at the table. Certainly not a place you would want to return to!

Yesterday, the five of us spent a wonderful evening at Kanonesteppel. This was partly due to the truly delicious food (everyone loved it) and partly to Janet's absolutely top-notch service. We'd love to come back!

Sometimes it can take a while for the food to arrive but it is very tasty. I don't think it's a bad idea to pay by card if you want to eat there with your family... you also have to have 200-300 euros in cash in your pocket

The three of us were there before a Eintracht game. It's a really nice cider bar where you immediately feel at home with the very friendly service. Unfortunately, as all the tables filled up, it was difficult to have a conversation (it was very noisy). It is also quite dark, although that does give it a flair. You can tell that the walls are getting old and starting to peel off a bit, unfortunately because they are very beautiful. The food was terrific, German home cooking, but also unusual ones, like the Eintracht Cordon Bleu with hand cheese were a blast! It wasn't the last time we were here.

Yes, very good food from Frankfurt, like from home

Nicely furnished, we were in the greenhouse and it was cozy and warm. Provided with blankets and a heater overhead, we were able to brave the cold outside for longer. Nevertheless, the mood was severely disturbed by the waitress, who was constantly smoking a butt, so ordering wasn't particularly easy. Later, an hour before the end, we were informed four times that it was almost over. As if we couldn't read a clock and that we should leave very punctually, preferably earlier than expected... that ruined everything that evening. Super rude! Despite a good order

I went to three famous restaurants nearby that had the same menu. I experienced the worst racism at the first place I went, so I was nervous when going to the restaurant, but they were very friendly and the food was delicious. At other places, the schnitzel is soggy, but here it is thin and crispy. The green sauce here was also the most delicious. Schweinhakse is a style where the meat inside the shell is soft. Of the three places I went to, it was the friendliest and most delicious.

A real Frankfurt original! We had the famous Handkäs' with music as a starter - spicy, perfectly seasoned and exactly how you want it. Afterwards there was bratwurst with sauerkraut and puree - classic, hearty and excellently prepared. We also enjoyed a Pinot Blanc that went wonderfully with it. The service was great – attentive, friendly and with a lot of heart for Frankfurt hospitality. The rustic atmosphere makes the Kanonesteppel a real must for lovers of traditional cuisine. I sat down inside the plastic tent. I think non-smokers should avoid it. The food was reasonably good, but four people at the table next to me were taking turns chain-smoking, so I couldn't tell if they were eating schnitzel or chewing tobacco. The tent wasn't well ventilated, so the smell got all over our clothes and bags. In fact, it was there from before we ordered until we finished eating and left. Of course, I know that smoking is allowed in the seats, but I am leaving this review for the benefit of non-smokers. It seems like a good idea to create a separate smoking area. Ich habe einen Platz in einem Zelt genommen, aber Nichtraucher sollten es besser vermeiden. Das Essen war ganz in Ordnung, aber am Nachbartisch haben vier Personen ununterbrochen eine Zigarette nach der anderen geraucht, sodass ich nicht wusste, ob ich ein Schnitzel esse oder eine Zigarette kaue. 😅 Da das Zelt schlecht belüftet war, haben meine Kleidung und meine Tasche den Rauchgeruch komplett aufgenommen. Sie haben wirklich von dem Moment an, als wir bestellt haben, bis wir gegangen sind, durchgehend geraucht. Natürlich weiß ich, dass es ein Raucherbereich ist, aber ich hinterlasse diese Rezension für Nichtraucher, die es vielleicht wissen möchten. Ein separater Bereich für Raucher wäre wirklich sinnvoll.

Rustic traditional cider pub with the best schnitzels. My favorite is the Frankfurter Schnitzel with delicious green sauce and fried potatoes. The cider also tastes good and the service is quick and competent. Always beautiful!

Here you will find a Frankfurt restaurant where you can meet many "old" Frankfurters. You will see and experience that there is no “fear of contact”. The food, no matter what, is plentiful and always tastes delicious. There is no beer here because it is purely an Äppelwoi economy.

The knuckle felt like it wasn't cooked through, even though it was very well baked on the outside. Unfortunately the cutlery wasn't suitable for cutting the crust. The atmosphere is, let's say, rustic. You can do it, but there are many comparable locations in Frankfurt.

Very good Schnitzel with local grüne Soße and Apfelwein. Of course, we couldn't miss Mispelchen :)

Visité a mis amigos en Frankfurt y estando en Alemania sabía que conseguiría un Wiener Schnitzel vom Kalb. Mi amiga preguntó en Kanonesteppel y confirmaron que lo hacen así que reservó una mesa para el sábado por la noche. Siendo principios de diciembre el lugar estaba lleno de un ambiente animado, pero el servicio era excelente, solo igualado por la calidad de la comida. Fuimos bien atendidos por la encantadora Susann y ella manejó el grupo bastante ruidoso de chicos en su mayoría y un par de chicas con facilidad. Cuando llegaron ya estaban tipy y uno de los chicos más que los demás así que se lució. Mis amigos ya me han invitado de nuevo y espero que hagamos una visita a Kanonesteppel y esperemos ver a la muy eficiente Susann de nuevo. Bis dann.

An authentic apple wine bar in Frankfurt Sachsenhausen. Time has almost stood still, the menu is classic. You sit on benches, possibly with others. Prices moderate, food very tasty. Not for chic Micki. Few tourists, many regular guests.

Every dish is prepared fresh and with a lot of love - you can taste the quality! The price-performance ratio is also excellent: here you can get first-class food at really fair prices. Traditional German food place, we tried the knuckle and the cider, everything was spectacular. The portions were substantial. The entrance is amazing, with small glass spaces for large groups. We will return for sure!!

Empfehlenswert Ich hatte das Vergnügen, kürzlich in einem hervorragenden Restaurant in Frankfurt zu speisen, das sich auf deutsche Küche spezialisiert hat. Von dem Moment an, als ich das Restaurant betrat, wurde ich von der netten und freundlichen Bedienung herzlich empfangen. Das Essen war einfach fantastisch! Besonders empfehlenswert sind die traditionellen deutschen Spezialitäten. Ich kann dieses Restaurant nur wärmstens empfehlen.

Food was good, except that the portions were different sizes 🤷‍♂️

It is probably recommended for people who love crowds. It was too crowded, too loud for us and what we wanted wasn't there anymore. My knuckle was too dry, the fried potatoes were delicious. Previously there was a salad that was a bit too salty. My drink wasn't available either and for a mezzo we received a bottle of Fanta and a bottle of Cola and had to mix it ourselves. All in all, I probably would have gone myself. But my companion wanted to stay.

We had a bit of bad luck in the evening because a very loud, VERY drunk group was sitting next to us (very beyond the normal I'm-just-drunk-and-a bit loud), but overall it's really great here, food is great, Great value for money, service really extremely friendly.
