Good food at fair prices. Top service.

This was a great experience. The Flammkuchen were amazing! I ask for a recommendation because there were so many good options. The server recommended the sampler from the appetizer menu. They have a variety of vegetarian as well as vegan options. The Mainzer was my favorite and I will be back for more. The service was great. The two girls did a fantastic job creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Reservations are recommended especially on weekends or special occasions. Inside and outside seating available. Great spot for a snack and a cold beverage.

2025.05.20 - Very good Flammkuchen. Our first time trying it. "Flammkuchen is of French origin (from the Alsace region) and specialty. It is very pizza-like. Instead of tomato sauce, they use sour cream. The crust is extremely thin and crispy. The name came from the word flame as it used to be cooked on an open fire." We tried The Mainzer (potate slices, bacon dices, onions and raclette cheese and The Hot One (salami, onions, cheese, hot peppers). They were much bigger than we realized. Better to split one between 2 instead of 1 each.

After our long drive to Mainz, we found this restaurant and were all thrilled with the flammkuchen. Unfortunately, the food took a while to arrive, so I'm giving it 4 stars 😃

If you want tarte flambée then go here, it's really harmonious and delicious, I'd love to have more of it and come back again and again!

The food was good to very good. The prices are a bit high for tarte flambée, but it's still okay. The atmosphere was good and the service was friendly. I'd definitely go back.

We were there last night. The restaurant is rather unimpressive from the outside, except for the fact that the door advertises the "best tarte flambée in Mainz." To be clear, I wouldn't confirm that claim. The tarte flambée is too dry for my taste. Where the sour cream that's supposed to be on top is is a mystery to me. The dough is also much too thin for my liking, more like paper. The tarte flambée is okay - but certainly not the best 🤨 The variations on offer are creative. The prices are just about okay for these days. But one thing you can always tell how good the hospitality is in any restaurant is the restrooms, and they are in desperate need of renovation. All in all, not a disaster, but nothing special either.

I had the shrimp boat and was very satisfied. A very tasty, filling portion. Fast service, nothing to complain about. The only downside: Kölsch is listed under "beer" on the menu ;)

Tarte flambée at the top level! We were at Kamin in Mainz - a restaurant that specializes entirely in tarte flambée. Rather inconspicuous from the outside, it is somewhat hidden in the second row, but inside a simple, stylish room with character awaits you. We were warmly welcomed, given a good seat straight away, and were able to enjoy the evening in a pleasant, quiet atmosphere - not too loud, relaxed, just right. The card runs via QR code – solved smartly. The offering is focused but strong. We had a tarte flambée from the special menu and one from the regular menu with an extra topping. We also shared a small salad with homemade lime dressing – absolutely fresh and tasted great. You can immediately tell that quality is important here - not cheap mass-produced goods, but really good ingredients. Particularly good: The waitress was attentive, friendly and knew about the wines. I received competent advice, the recommended red wine was pleasant to drink and a perfect fit. Overall, a completely coherent concept with great attention to detail – quality, service and atmosphere at a very high level. The price was absolutely fair for what was offered. A real insider tip in Mainz – for everyone who wants something different than pizza, pasta or burgers.

A very good tarte flambée restaurant with a lot of selection, reasonable prices and nice drinks. There are also vegan options. The “Vegetarian Vegan” tarte flambée is highly recommended. Overall, quite recommendable for a nice trip with the family [(or with colleagues, friends, relatives, roommates or other people who are close or not, but it shouldn't be strangers - except on a date!!)]

A super cozy tarte flambée restaurant in Mainz. Reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. Plenty of parking is available in the nearby parking garage. Always happy to return.

I have to say that I am very disappointed with this restaurant. My colleague began to feel increasingly ill during our visit, so we had to call an ambulance. The ambulance came and it was a very unpleasant situation. But to make matters worse, in the end we were still asked to pay for the food. I cannot recommend this restaurant, especially if you expect a little understanding and empathy to be shown in an emergency.

The restaurant is well located. By car you can drive into a parking garage and the Roman Theater train station can be reached on foot in under 5 minutes. I ate a very tasty spring tarte flambée with wild garlic pesto, grilled vegetables and sheep's cheese for €15.90 and was really full afterwards. Ambiance is cozy. The outside temperatures were quite pleasant that day, which is why the fireplace was not in use. Service is very friendly. Depending on when you want to go there, a reservation is recommended. I'd love to come back :)

We've enjoyed it a lot on several visits. First of all: make sure you make a reservation; it's easy to do online. The tarte flambées are generally quick to make and are really great. There are many variations, including more unusual and seasonal offerings. Service was also really good – we once received the wrong tarte flambée due to a mistake in the kitchen, but this was resolved very well and quickly (basically, I ended up with more vegetables on the tarte flambée, and the missing Serrano ham was added). We were even offered a free espresso as a small apology. This just goes to show: mistakes happen, how you deal with them is the question – and that affects both sides. It's really great here :) Thanks, we'll be back when we're in Mainz again.

5 of us ate there. The food only came after an hour and 2 tarte flambées didn't come at all. Although a tarte flambée should actually be quick. The tarte flambée tasted particularly special and was even really warm when it arrived. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

Ich war froh, in dem gut besuchten Restaurant einen Tisch zu bekommen. Die Karte konnte ich mir mittels QR-Code aufrufen. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und das Getränk kam ganz fix. Der Flammkuchen ließ nicht lange auf sich warten und zerging mir auf der Zunge. Man hat geschmeckt, dass er frisch und hausgemacht war. Ich komme gerne wieder ☺️

When you call, no one answers, you can only make a reservation online for 1.5 hours, and then you are told on site that you won't get a place without a reservation. But this is not mentioned on the website. That could be improved.
