Kamasutra in Dresden

Solid Indian restaurant. Nice and quick service. Nice decor and good food. However, I missed the sharpness a bit. The portions were generous and the meat was super tender. An all around good experience and great presentation of the food.

We got lamb instead of chicken, even though the correct number was ordered. When we complained, we were told that we had already eaten it... Yes, we prepared two spoons of rice as a portion on the plate and then tasted it... Bad service!! It's a shame.

It wasn't for my taste. I'm used to Indian food with a bit more spice, which is why I go for Indian food. I just felt like that certain something was missing. There was no salad with papadan as a starter. I really liked the luchhi, it's just part of the experience. That's why the restaurant didn't convince me. If you want Indian food, you're better off going somewhere else.

We've been driving past it for years, and now we were finally inside. It's a very nice ambience. And the food is good. At least what we ordered tasted good. Especially since we don't know much about Indian cuisine. But we like to try. And we will eat Indian again. And of course the service was good too.

Very loving, family restaurant. Great service even late in the evening, fast and very friendly service! The delicious food - a feast for the eyes and the palate! I'd love to come back!

Caution for “Dresden for Friends” members: Card was not accepted for two selected main courses. That's really a shame!

An authentic restaurant richly furnished with lots of original Indian furniture. Very nice and friendly service. Our favorite is the chicken marinated in 21 spices. Always an experience!

We have been going to the restaurant regularly for about 20 years Unfortunately today for the last time. Unfortunately, we are no longer allowed to go to the restaurant with our dog, even though it hasn't been a problem for the last few years. Wow! A fantastic evening with your loved ones. We enjoyed paneer and chicken, lassi and chai and received extremely friendly service. The restaurant was very nicely decorated, not crowded, the music was at a pleasant volume. Overall very very very good! 🙂 We'd love to come back!

We had a lovely first evening in a new city, were warmly welcomed and served quickly and nicely. The furnishings look authentic (what I imagine it to be ;-)) and actually have little special features wherever you look. The dining room with its vaulted ceilings looked quite recently renovated. The food was good.

The food tastes quite good, it's just a shame that the wine that was on the menu wasn't there.

The food was very tasty, although not as spicy as I eat it. The prices are a little higher than the competition, but they don't skimp on meat here. Had 10 large pieces in the pan, which is not a given for Dresden Indians. Therefore, in my opinion, highly recommended.

Had dinner on Wednesday by ordering a table by telephone, with a gourmet block offer, i.e. with 2 main courses, the cheaper one was free. Everything was satisfactory, from the reservation to the end of the evening meal. The food was very tasty, well-chilled beer, very friendly service, super clean and tidy .

We've been eating here for years. It always tastes great, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. In summer you can sit in the beer garden.

I had dinner here with my family, after a polite greeting, drinks and food arrived at a reasonably quick pace. In addition to rice, there is also typical bread as a side dish. Our special request for something spicy to spice things up was responded to immediately and we were given a green chili "paste" and, with a friendly smile, salt and pepper. Since my children couldn't manage to eat, We were offered to pack the food to take away. All in all, I can only recommend this restaurant.

Delicious food and very nice service

The furnishings were authentic and pleasant. The service was OK, but nothing special. The food came very quickly, too quickly. We had the starter in 3 minutes and the main course was served straight away. The meal was okay. But it was very heavy on the stomach (despite the small amount I ate) and led directly to nausea and stomach pain.

The food not only looks great, but it also tastes the same. However, I personally would have liked an even stronger or more intense taste by using the spices listed on the menu. But that is a matter of personal preference. The service was good, considering the circumstances that the restaurant was very busy and the waitress had to satisfy all the guests on a Friday evening at around 8 p.m. All in all a great experience and always a pleasure!

Delicious food has held up very well over the years

Ordered shrimp with yogurt sauce. Got prawns with an abnormal amount of pepper, which wasn't on the menu. We asked the waitress and the chef about it but received no consent. However, the other food was tasty and the ambience is nice.

The plaque from "Augusto", the Sächsische Zeitung's restaurant finder, at the entrance to the Kamasutra dates from 2002 and the restaurant actually seems to have had its best days behind it. The restaurant is spacious, extends over several rooms, and the furnishings are somewhere between typical and kitschy, depending on your perception. There are a few parking spaces (3-4) in the yard. Taking the order and the first round of drinks happened quite quickly, but unfortunately slowed down later. The menu is extensive and offers everything you know from Indian: lamb, chicken, fish, vegetarian... The prices of the main courses range between 14 and 20 EUR and are therefore in the moderate range. The beer also costs EUR 3.50 for 0.4 l of Radeberger on tap, as well as 0.33 l for Guinness. We (6 people) chose five different dishes and two starters. The main courses could be ordered with either rice or flatbread, in our case three with rice and three with flatbread. What was noticeable at some of the other tables was the very long wait for the food. Well, maybe the number of guests and the size of the kitchen are an unfavorable ratio, but it doesn't matter, after all, we had time. What irritated us was that the starters were brought together with the main courses. Now I understand a starter as an appetizer and (as the name suggests) before the main course. Well, that wasn't the case here. In addition, the soup was so hot that consumption had to be postponed until after the main course. And when we asked about the second starter (nan bread) we were told that it was the same as flatbread and was on the large plate with the collected flatbreads from the main courses. Okay, since I don't know exactly the difference in the receptors between Nan bread and flatbread, a separate serving as a starter would have been appropriate. On the other hand, as it came with the main course, as I said, the starter was no longer needed anyway. After the long wait, our glasses were now emptied. Despite all our efforts, we were unable to place a repeat order and the staff simply disappeared. OK, that worked too. I generally don't judge the food because the tastes are so different. But while with other Indians you can choose the level of spiciness in up to three levels, here there was only "Uni", which I personally found too bland for Indian standards. All in all: below average.

Very nice atmosphere with good service , food and also good prices. All parts of the restaurant as dekoration and furniture are from India. As for example beautiful metal doors and sun on the celling.

We eat there very often and it tastes excellent. We particularly recommend G63 with 🐑lamb meat and G 81/82

The food was excellent, I ate Murgh Korma, chicken in a special cream sauce with almonds, coconut flakes, cheese and raisins. My parents each had the griddle, Murg Tandoori and Sheek Kakab, as well as Tikka Tandpori. Everything was freshly prepared, so plan for a short waiting time. Rice was provided in abundance. We had dinner, each dish came to €12.99. If there are two of you, one could order rice and the other the flatbread, so you can share both if you like it.

A really great Indian restaurant. Really recommended! Thursday evening… but very well attended - that speaks for itself. The food was absolutely delicious, plentiful and lovingly prepared. The service - of course originally Indian - very nice, careful and quick. We got a taste for it - and will be back. Oh well… prices are completely ok!!

We had to wait quite a long time for the food even though there were no guests there.

The first impression: beautifully designed restaurant, not too overloaded, very pleasant. The food: really tasty and reasonably priced. Cleanliness: not good. Dried food residue stuck to the bowls. The service: underground! No eye contact with guests. When something was served, empty plates were not cleared away and then piled up on the tables. We had to wait a very long time before we could order. And wait even longer for it to be served. Our dessert, for which we had waited 45 minutes, was only served with the requested bill. The visit was a failure and the restaurant is definitely not recommended!

We (my partner and I) were there for the first time with the baby :) Dishes were served vegan upon request 🫶🏽 Cauliflower and champions as a starter were very tasty, the main course was great! Great price for the lunch special €9.77/dish The service didn't seem very happy, but apart from that everything was fine. Gladly again!

Very friendly service, nice atmosphere. The food was not a revelation, too little meat, sparingly seasoned. The fried flatbread tasted a bit mushy. All in all, we had hoped for a little more, so we won't be coming back with the whole family.

I've been to Kamasutra several times and the food has always been delicious, hot and well seasoned. The ambience is great, maybe a bit dark at times. The staff is friendly, sometimes a bit reserved. The vegetarian “curries” are a pleasure right down to the last bite.

Fantastic interior design and good Indian food. We were there with 30 people and everyone was very satisfied.

We were very surprised to have such a good Indian restaurant near us. I've driven past the house almost every day for 13 years and have often wanted to go there for dinner. Now it has finally worked and we definitely won't need another 13 years for a second visit. ;-) Update: We've been here for dinner several times now and we always discover new dishes that taste delicious.

Es war sehr lecker. Das Essen und die Getränke kamen zügig trotz grosser Gruppe. Komme gerne wieder,wenn ich mal wieder in DD bin. Es war etwas kalt im Restaurant und der Raumduft war für mich etwas störend.

Richtig, richtig lecker! Mir fehlen die Worte...

Sehr stilvolle und authentisch Einrichtungen. Nur der Fernseher mit dem Indischen MTV passte nicht so ganz.

Ort für gute Lebensmittelvergiftungen! Wir waren das letzte Mal vor über einem Jahr in diesem Restaurant und haben alle 4 Personen eine Lebensmittelvergiftung bekommen. Jetzt dachten wir uns, dass wir dem Restaurant nochmal eine Chance geben…liegen nun seit 3 Tagen erneut flach mit einer Lebensmittelvergiftung. Zudem kommt noch, dass der Service dort extrem unfreundlich ist und bei beiden Besuchen sich kein einziges Mal ein lächeln rausdrücken konnte.

Wir waren zuvor bereits ein Mal mit unserer DDFF Karte im Kamasutra essen. Die Sauberkeit lässt etwas zu wünschen übrig und die Mitarbeiter könnten motivierter sein, aber die DDFF-Karte wurde akzeptiert. Heute haben wir telefonisch reserviert und auch angegeben, dass wir als 2 Paare mit 2 DDFF-Karten kommen. Vor Ort haben wir dann ganz normal bestellt und gegessen, aber als es an die Bezahlung ging, wurde auf einmal die DDFF Karte nicht mehr akzeptiert. Wir hätten das doch vorher angeben müssen. Auf unsere Bemerkung, dass wir das ja aber bei Reservierung gesagt haben, wurde überhaupt nicht eingegangen und es wurde auch nicht versucht, IRGENDEIN Kompromiss zu finden (Gutschein , oder ähnlicher Rabatt beim nächsten Besuch). Während der 20minütigen Diskussion wurden die Inhaber sehr unfreundlich und unverschämt, wir wurden leider sogar homophob beleidigt. Da es uns dann zu dumm wurde, wollten wir den vollen Betrag bezahlen, aber auf einmal ging das Kartenzahl-Gerät nicht. Darüber wurde man weder bei Bestellung noch über ein Hinweisschild informiert. Ich hatte nur 25€ in bar dabei, was aber bei Akzeptanz der DDFF Karte auch gereicht hätte. Keine Einsicht bei den Inhabern zu sehen. Ich soll doch einen persönlichen Gegenstand da lassen und den Rest am nächsten Tag bezahlen. Ich werde aber sicherlich nicht meine persönlichen Gegenstände bei solch unfreundlichen homophoben Menschen lassen. Ich habe angeboten, eine Überweisung zu machen, die der Inhaber ja auch gesehen hätte. Er kennt aber seine IBAN nicht. Ist das mein Problem? Er hat dann die 25€ genommen und schlussendlich wurden wir von den Inhabern Händefuchtelnd aus dem Restaurant gescheucht. So etwas habe ich wirklich noch nicht erlebt. Ich kann nur davon abraten in dieses Restaurant zu gehen.

Dresden für Friends Karte wird nicht angenommen . Leider war mein Besuch im Restaurant äußerst enttäuschend. Wir hatten eine Gutscheinkarte des Restaurants, die trotz vorheriger Erwähnung nicht akzeptiert wurde. Dies führte zu einer sehr unangenehmen Situation. Die Tatsache, dass unsere Bitte nicht berücksichtigt wurde, hat den Gesamteindruck stark beeinträchtigt. Ich hoffe, dass das Management zukünftig sensibler mit solchen Anliegen umgeht, um anderen Gästen ähnlichen Unannehmlichkeiten zu ersparen. Es ist einfach keine Empfehlung . Das war mein letzter Besuch in diesem Restaurant.

The curry quantity was very very less. Whatever the dish you order, half of the quantity will be filled with just capsicum, onions and tomatoes. For every non- veg dish, you won't even get 3 pieces of meat. Very much disappointed with the quantity of food. Only mango lassi is recommended.

Wir waren jetzt zweimal zu dritt dort. Haben Lamm, Hühnchen und vegetarische (Paneer) Gerichte gegessen. Es hat beide male allen sehr gut geschmeckt. Die Bedienung war auch immer sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Das eher ruhige Ambiente hat uns auch gut gefallen. Erreichbarkeit mit dem ÖPNV ist gut (Zwinglistrasse). Was mich nach dem angenehmen Erlebnis überrascht hat - für ein schön ausgestattetes Restaurant mit guter Bedienung und gutem Essen vor Ort sind die Preise ziemlich günstig (> 60€ für drei Personen).

War schon mehrfach hier, dass Essen war wie immer sehr lecker und gut gewürzt. Sehr preiswert.

Endlich mal wieder Essen gehen und Zeit zu zweit zu verbringen. Aber Zeit sollte man wirklich viel mitbringen. Die Getränke kamen nach 15 Minuten und als diese leer waren, blieben diese auch leer. Keiner kam zu uns und frug ob wir denn neue Getränke Wünsche haben. In der Zeit als wir auf unser Essen warteten, mittlerweile 60 Minuten, kamen von draußen 4 Gäste zur Bar um zu bezahlen. Die Frau an der Bar war intensiv mit ihrem Handy beschäftigt anstatt zu bedienen bzw zu kassieren. Es war wirklich nicht viel los. Ob das Essen geschmeckt hat wissen wir nicht, da wir nach über einer guten Stunde gegangen sind. Natürlich haben wir unsere Getränke bezahlt.

Wer gerne lange auf sein Essen wartet, über 1 Stunde, die Getränke kamen nach ner viertel Stunde obwohl nicht viel los war. Nachdem die Getränke leer waren wurde nicht gefragt ob wir neue möchten, denn der Bedienung war es wichtiger auf ihr Handy zu klotzen. Vier Gäste mussten zur Bar gehen um zu sagen, dass sie bezahlen möchten. So einen schlechten Service haben wir lange Zeit nicht erlebt.

Es dauerte etwas was für kinder nichts ist da die dann unruhig werden, allerdings ist es normal mit der Wartezeit. Das essen war ausgezeichnet.

Wunderbares indisches Essen, sehr authentisch in Geschmack und Einrichtung des Lokals. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und die Portionen sind immer ordentlich, sodass man mindestens satt wird oder sogar etwas mit nach Hause nehmen kann.

Heute vor Ort essen gewesen. Die Portion sind echt gut, und geschmacklich auch echt super! Die Bestellung ist recht zügig am Tisch gelandet, und die Bedienung ist auch sehr nett gewesen. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Wirklich ein schönes Restaurant, lauschiger Biergarten und drinnen eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Dezenter, aufmerksamer und freundlicher Service. Das Essen ist unglaublich lecker!! Ich war drei Tage zur Fortbildung in der Stadt und an allen drei Tagen war das Essen einfach Top und auch bezahlbar. Komme jederzeit gerne wieder. Wir wollten mit unserer Dresden for Friends Karte bezahlen und haben vergessen, dies bei der Bestellung zu sagen (wir nutzen diese nicht so oft). Bei Rechnungszahlung wurde dann diese Karte nicht akzeptiert. Mein Mann hat dort schon so oft Essen geholt und ist bekannt, was an der Begrüßung ersichtlich war.. In schlechten Corona Zeiten haben wir das Lokal durch unsere Bestellungen unterstützt. Von daher sind für über diesen schlechten Service schon enttäuscht. Schade, wir werden uns ein anderes gutes Restaurant suchen, Sie haben jetzt leider einen guten Stammkunden verloren.

Ich habe dort die indische Küche ausprobiert und muss echt sagen top. Tolles üppiges essen, super Service und liebevoll eingerichtetes lokal.

Die Bedienung war freundlich und schnell. Das Essen kam sehr zügig und hat lecker geschmeckt. Die Deckchen könnten mal eine Erneuerung vertragen, aber ansonsten hat es gepasst 👍🏼

Really nice ambiance and has a royal touch to the place.The decor really has true Indian/south asian aura to it. The food was pretty decent but could definitely be better especially curry. Service was polite and accommodating.

Ein seit 22 Jahren bestehendes indisches Restaurant mit typisch indischem Flair, sehr gutem Essen und einem nicht zu verachtenden Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Ich bin sehr gern da.

Das Lokal ist in wunderbarem, indisch typischen, Ambiente gestaltet. Es ist recht gemütlich. Ungewöhnlich sind die mit metallischen Beschlag gestalteten Tische und Stühle. Das wirkt sich auch auf die Wohlfühltemperatur aus. Wir haben es als recht frisch/zugluftig drinnen empfunden. Ohne Reservierung am Samstag Abend: auf gut Glück - mit kurzer Wartezeit. Man kennt die indische Gastfreundschaft anders. Kein Aperitif, oder Gruß aus der Küche um die Wartezeit zu überbrücken, bzw mit der Rechnung gebrachter Saft/Likör... Mein leeres Glas wurde die ganze Zeit zwischen Vorsuppe und Bezahlung ignoriert. Das Essen war gut. Wir hatten etwas anderes erwartet: auf meiner Grillplatte war nur Hühnchen zu finden, wo eigentlich Lamm und Lamm-Hack mit drauf hätte sein sollen. Die hauseigene Soße beim Gericht meiner Frau war nichts besonderes. Dennoch rundum gut!

Ein sehr schön aufgemachtes, indisches Restaurant. Der Service war echt klasse. das Essen war wahnsinnig lecker und ich habe bisher bei keinem indischen Restaurant so ein zartes Lammfleisch wie hier gegessen. Gerne wieder!

War die 2. Wahl und das Essen war der absolute Hammer. Wirklich empfehlenswert.

Das Essen war in Ordnung, mit Vorspeise sogar zu viel. Aber das empfindet glaub jeder anders. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hat die Zeit immer gut abgepasst für Anfragen oder Aufnahmen von wünschen. Preis-Leistung im gesamten in Ordnung. Mir persönlich war es nicht würzig genug, deshalb auch nur 3 Sterne Die Innenausstattung ist sehr schön, wir haben uns dabei Wohl gefühlt. Zu sehen sind die Vorspeise gebackener Blumenkohl und Hähnchen mit Gemüse in indischer soße dazu Reis. Die Auswahl der Beilage war Reis oder Brot.
