I haven't had such good Greek food in a long time. The gyro was crispy and juicy. The bifteki was really well seasoned. The fries were fresh and crispy. Everything was truly delicious.

Yes I highly recommend it Maybe the acoustics need some improvement. It's very loud when it's full. Otherwise, it's great.

I was very surprised by the delicious octopus and seafood I ate at this restaurant. Kalliopea, the owner, is very friendly and always attentive to her guests. In short: The food, drinks, and desserts here are among the best you can find in Hamburg 🤓🙌🏼!!!!

Enttäuschung in ganzer Linie. Gyros in Metaxa-Soße überbacken erreichte nach ca. 1 Std. am frühen Abend und noch leerem Lokal den Tisch. Im Fett schwamm gedünstetes sehr durchwachsenes Fleisch, gedeckelt durch eine dicke süße Käsehaube. Kein Geschmack, kein Gewürz und Fettgeschmack. Metaxa war hier nur im Namen gegeben.Dazu gab es frittierte Kartoffeln. Beim durchforsten der unappetitlich anmutenden Schale fand sich dann auch noch ein Stück Aluverpackungsrest. Also es ist empfehlenswert, dazu Zaziki als Geschmacksanreicherer zu bestellen und vorher die Sinne mit Ouzo zu betäuben. Reklamiert wurde nach dem Bezahlen, um dem Schmarotzer Verhalten vorzubeugen. Dem Chef fehlte jegliche professionelle Umgangsweise mit offensichtlicher Kritik (Deshalb wird sie hier geschrieben) Statt "Kleiner Brötchen zu backen" unterstellte er dem Gast, die Speise geschmacklich falsch einzuschätzen. Gaanz schlechte Schule und wirklich nicht zu empfehlen.

We were there for the first time since the renovation. Unfortunately, the ambiance is somewhat cooler now; I personally liked it better before. The food was a mixed bag. My dishes were very good! Moussaka and Dolmadakia are highly recommended. The liver was rather so-so, cooked a bit too long, but okay. The gyro with Metaxa sauce, however, wasn't good. The sauce was very bland, as if the chef had forgotten the salt and there was a piece of aluminum foil in the food. What somewhat dampened the evening, however, was the reaction to the criticism of the Metaxa gyro. The aluminum foil was not addressed at all, and the sauce was said to be very "hyped," and a good chef wouldn't add too much salt. It was supposed to be on the house, but that wasn't what we were concerned about. It was about feedback, and that was probably perceived as an insult to the majesty. Too bad; maybe they should practice dealing with criticism again. The service was otherwise a bit disorganized, but very friendly. Good to know: The liver only comes with leaf salad, no side dish. If I had just eaten my meal, it would have been 5 stars. There's also a lot of mold on the walls in the men's restroom.

We've loved this restaurant for over 10 years. A truly authentic Greek restaurant, so much more than just gyros, which everyone thinks is Greek food. The seafood (the octopus!!!) and fish dishes are so amazing, and the family and service are so friendly. They renovated and remodeled a few months ago, and it's now even nicer and more comfortable, with the same great service and food. We call this our home and will keep coming back. Be sure to order fish and seafood—the meat is always great, too, but the Mediterranean fish here is unbeatable.

Outstandingly authentic cuisine! We can highly recommend Kalliopea. The atmosphere in the store is great, new and modern. In addition, the service is very courteous and we felt very comfortable. And now the best part: the food. Aside from the classics like gyros (Metaxa, ...), be sure to try the seafood dishes. The octopus was phenomenal so I haven't been able to eat it yet. We'll definitely be back!

Warm welcome, delicious food. What more could you want? THE Greek restaurant in the north of Hamburg. Reservations recommended on weekends.

Absolutely no recommendation. We had made a reservation for 12 people and were thrown out because the new owner had apparently entered the reservation incorrectly or not at all. Despite a phone call that lasted almost half an hour, there were no suggestions for a solution. Never again! The on-site service tried hard, but couldn't help. What a shame!

Not so comfortable after the renovation. Bar counter no longer at the entrance, but now at the back of the guest room between the kitchen door and the stairs to the toilets. At first you feel a bit lost, especially when the staff mainly looks after their own regular guests. But about 2 more tables were now accommodated in the dining room than before. The former boss, Kalliopi Brandsschläger, handed the restaurant over to her son last year, and he seems to have different service priorities than her for the guests. At the time of the visit, there were no cubicle doors visible in the women's toilet and no door hinges or frames at the individual cubicle entrances.

Finally back in Barmbek after five months: the new Kalliopea has opened! Our joy was great, so we returned to our favorite restaurant last night, curious and a little excited. New and modern Mediterranean atmosphere, a Greek bar and still the same and very good quality of cuisine. Familiar and popular, but also some new dishes. And still the same team with the typical Greek charm and warmth that immediately captivates even strangers. With the greatest pleasure! Your friends from the event-all-in team.

Good food, as far as you can tell from a first visit. The small restaurant is very loud. When it comes to service, regulars seem to enjoy the attention that other guests lack. Drinks are not served but slammed on the table. Waiters have long, intense conversations with their friends; other guests are ignored for a long time. Conclusion: Anyone who wants to come here regularly is in good hands, other guests less so. And if you're not part of the family, you don't get ouzo.

We were at a concert in the city park (unfortunately canceled at short notice) and wanted to eat something nearby. We were warmly welcomed at the entrance. When eating (including gyros and bifteki) you really noticed that there was passion and heart behind it. Sympathetic, warm-hearted, attentive and delicious. Like a short vacation in Greece.

Full five stars, I searched on Google and came across Kalliopea, only good reviews, you can't go wrong. And that's how it was, a very cozy atmosphere, rustic, simple, no fuss, that's how I like it. I got a table straight away after entering, the menu was there in no time, not too much choice, but something for everyone. My choice fell on the calamari as a starter and a gyros with champions and cheese gratin. The calamari was very tasty, perfect timing in terms of the sequence. The gyros were very tasty, the fried potatoes on the side should be particularly mentioned, they taste great alone, so the ketchup is no longer necessary. All in all, I ate very well and was served very politely and courteously. I don't normally write such huge texts, but ReTurant really deserves it. I'd be happy to come back when I'm in Hamburg again

The main course was the Metaxa Gyros with fries. The food was very, very tasty, apart from the fact that I had half the amount of fries compared to my companion, but that can happen. In general, the portions are quite manageable, considering that you pay the same as at another Greek restaurant for a very large portion. The staff is very nice and welcoming, you immediately get a very comfortable and familiar impression. The atmosphere is quite rustic, but that's not a bad thing. I found it a bit uncomfortable that some of the tables were so close to each other, which limited privacy somewhat. But it is precisely because of the good cuisine and the very friendly staff that the restaurant is recommended.

Das Kalliopea ist ein kleines und liebevoll geführtes Familienrestaurant. Es bietet eine kleine Speisekarte mit erlesenen und geschmackvoll zubereiteten Gerichten an, ein Garant für Frische. Die Einrichtung ist schlicht und angenehm. Eine Reservierung ist empfehlenswert. Restauranteigene Parkmöglichkeiten gibt es nicht. Mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln (S1 und S11) gut erreichbar.

Ich hatte die Wirtin vor einiger Zeit im Fernsehen in einem Interview über griechische Restaurants gesehen. Das machte mich außerordentlich neugierig! Und ich muss sagen, ich wurde absolut nicht enttäuscht! Hervorragendes Essen und unglaublich freundliche Bewirtung!

Geschmacklich durchaus vergleichbar mit anderen „guten“ Griechen in Barmbek und Umgebung, aber durch kleine Feinheiten doch einige „Schmankerl“ die für Einzigartigkeit sorgen. Da wir Draußen saßen keine Bewertung zum Gastraum möglich. Bedienung freundlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Woher kommen die guten Bewertungen? Die Röstkartoffeln sind nicht knusprig sondern Matsch. Die Preise gehoben . Das Essen eher mäßig. Und das Erscheinungsbild lädt nicht zum verweilen ein.

Zuschlagen - ein etwas höherpreisiger Grieche der vor allem durch Qualität und untypisch kleine Portionen auffällt. Wer also vor allem des Hungers wegen kommt - sorry, da ist man falsch. Das familiäre Team berät ausgezeichnet was im Angebot ist oder schlägt alternativen vor wenn etwas vergriffen ist. Gerade was frischen Fisch angeht kann das Angebot recht schnell vergriffen sein. Spricht offensichtlich für Qualität und das man besser nichts als angegammeltes anzusehendes servieren möchte. Kollidiert mit unseren heutigen Vorstellungen als Gast, ist aber eigentlich richtig und Nachhaltig. Weiterer Vorteil, man probiert auch mal etwas anders das man sonst ggf. nie in Erwägung gezogen hätte. Also - auf geht's!
