KALIPSO, griechisches Restaraunt in Magdeburg

Draußen kann man gut unter Schirmen sitzen, Fleisch jeweils war gut, Zaziki war sehr gut, Service schnell.

Ich kann die letzten Rezessionen nicht teilen. Wir sind von Ausserhalb und immer wenn wir im Sommertheater bei Hengstmann's sind,gehen wir seit vielen Jahren ins Kalipso.Immer nett,immer freundlich und Essen sehr,sehr lecker.

Freundlicher und kompetenter Service – die Mitarbeiter kennen die Speisekarte auswendig und können gute Empfehlungen geben. Ich bestellte einfach Gyros mit Pommes und Tzatziki, ohne besondere Wünsche. Zuvor hatte ich einen Salat als Vorspeise und Ouzu mit Saft dazu bestellt. Das Essen wurde schnell serviert und die Portion war großzügig – man konnte sich problemlos satt essen. Mir hat alles sehr gut geschmeckt.

Heute Abend mal wieder Griechisch Essen ,alles Top ohne wenn und aber.

Wir hatten spontan dieses Lokal gewählt, weil wir einen kleinen Hunger verspürten und Appetit auf griechische Küche hatten. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und hatten das große Glück, einen schönen Platz zu bekommen, ohne vorher zu reservieren. Die Bedienung sehr entgegenkommend und höflich. Das Essen sehr gut und schön angerichtet hat uns 4 sehr, sehr gut geschmeckt....und wir möchten uns auch an dieser Stelle herzlichst für die Gastlichkeit bedanken 🙏🏻

Ich war bisher immer sehr zufrieden mit diesem Restaurant. Alle super freundlich & schnell. Unser Essen war bisher auch immer sehr gut 🤗 Also ich persönlich mag es hier sehr.

Kurz: Ich würde es nicht emphelen, sogar davon abraten: Eher nichts essen als hier. Ich hab lange überlegt, aber mir fällt kein schlechteres Restaurant ein, in dem ich bisher jemals war. Lang: Es ist mir schleierhaft wie hier ausschließlich gute und sehr gute bewertungen sein können. Entweder werden alle schlechten gelöscht, oder alle guten sind gekauft. Also ich habe mit meiner Freundin am Samstag um 15Uhr für 18 Uhr einen Tisch für 2 Reservieren lassen. Als wir angekommen sind, mussten wir zwar nicht warten bis wir drann kammen, aber es dauerte bis das Personal wusste wohin mit uns. Wir haben zum trinken Bananensaft und Cola genommen und zum Essen Vorspeise: Knoblauch brot mit bisschen peperoni und salat was bis hierher noch völlig in Ordnung war. Hautspeise: Meine Freundin: Lammkotlett mit pommes, Reis und Zaziki. Das Lammkotlett ähnelte eher Autoreifengummi und ließ sich daher nur sehr schwer schneiden, wärend die Pommes weich und ungesalzen waren. Ich hatte Spagetti mit Tomatensoße mit Käse überbacken, dazu Reis als Beilage. Der Käse war in Ordnung, der Reis war eher Roh als gar. Die Spagetti waren zwar gar, aber die Tomatensoße war eigentlich pur Wasser mit bisschen Tomatengeschmack. Als ich das Personal darauf Ansprach, bekam ich die Aussage: "Wir sind ein griechisches Restaurant und kein Italienisches" worauf ich antwortete: "ja das mag ja sein, aber wenn sie das nicht können dann schreiben sie es nicht auf die Speisekarte." Der Preis von 63€ ist für die Menge zwar in Ordnung, aber die Qualität ist Grauenhaft.

Nettes Team, Essen ist Geschmackssache

Wenn man bis 20 Uhr die Kegelbahn gemietet hat, möchte man nicht schon um halb acht vom Chef gefragt werden, wann wir denn endlich in die Gaststätte kommen, er will das Essen servieren. Wir saßen dann noch nicht am Tisch, da wurde das Essen hingestellt. Auch Vorspeisen!! Um 21 Uhr hat das Personal an nicht besetzten Tischen die Stühle hoch gestellt und wir saßen mittendrin. Unmöglich!! Und zum Schluss, mit dem zeigen der Uhr, haste was kannst abkassiert. Sie wollen nach Hause. Wir kommen nicht wieder.

The food is Greek? It wasn't good! I don't know what serving spaghetti has to do with Greece. The sauce for my chicken was supposed to be Metaxa sauce…but without Metaxa (Tetra Pak?).

Das Essen war leider enttäuschend. Es kam kalt an, und die Metaxasoße wirkte wie ein Fertigprodukt. Auch mein Gericht – überbackener Käse mit Hähnchen und Kartoffeln mit Baisele-Soße Nr. 110 hat insgesamt sehr künstlich geschmeckt. Für mich leider nur 1 von 10 Punkten.

I ordered the fish platter, number 91 I think, but unfortunately everything was deep-fried. The potatoes were deep-fried and swimming in grease, extremely garlicky, the calamari was coated in batter that was so watery and undercooked, not crispy at all, and the fish that was supposed to be breaded was also deep-fried, completely watery and soggy, and tasteless. The salmon was okay. All in all, I didn't finish it, which was a shame about the €26. And I had a stomachache from all the grease. The staff, however, were always friendly and attentive. The ambiance was rather old-fashioned and the air was very blue.

Food and service were excellent. Prices were reasonable.

We've had pleasant meals here several times, but never before has it been as disastrous as today. Our telephone reservation didn't exist, but a table was prepared for us. We were able to place our order relatively quickly, but the drinks took a while to arrive. As with the reviews just before us, we had to reorder our food for the same reasons and wait a long time for it to be served. There was a massive disagreement over the bill, but we were able to reach an agreement. There was no apology for the poor service that evening; on the contrary, "we were lucky to have gotten anything to eat at all." Even if it was the last evening before a well-deserved vacation, this is simply unacceptable!!!

We waited a long time for our food, two hours, and then we were told they were out of sauces for four of our dishes, which we had to change. Then we were asked what we had ordered. After the delivery time, we were given the other dishes, but without any side dishes. When we asked what they were for, we were simply told that all the side dishes were available. My pasta with tomato sauce and cheese that I ordered was also a disappointment. Although there was pasta and cheese, the sauce was just water and didn't taste good.

Long wait for food When the food finally arrived, the accompanying side dishes were no longer available, and no explanation was given as to why.

I can only warn against visiting here!!! Three years ago, we had a very positive experience here as a couple. Today, with eight people, it was a disaster!! After an hour of serving an appetizer and another 20 minutes of being told there was no more main course for five people. After a change, it took almost another hour, and then a meal was forgotten, and that one too was no longer available, and another meal was simply placed on the table, without a word of apology!! We didn't even complain, and really, we should all have gotten up and left. Oh, and the food, well, was also a disaster in places!! Addendum: They're also lying here; we've never experienced anything like that before!

Summary: Food okay, service and customer service a disaster We ate at Kalipso with a group of 8 friends on a Sunday evening. We spent almost 3 hours there, more or less voluntarily. Our schedule was as follows: After we ordered, it took a little over an hour for our appetizers to arrive. That's something that can happen, especially in a busy restaurant. It's not pleasant, but up to this point, everything was fine. It took another half hour before we received the information that we had to reorder our ordered dishes because they were out of Metaxa sauce—mind you, the only reason we were eating Greek food. That's a shame, but if that were really the case, it couldn't be changed. ! Remember: 1. we had to reorder, and 2. we were told that they were out of Metaxa sauce! So far, so good. After another 45 minutes, some of our main courses arrived. Unfortunately, one dish was forgotten, which was pointed out, and a second (pasta with tomato sauce) was truly ridiculous. The tomato sauce in question was more like water with a slight tomato flavor, which was difficult to detect, so the entire meal tasted like nothing more than pasta with water, which simply shouldn't be the case for a restaurant, even if pasta with tomato sauce isn't typical for a Greek restaurant. But back to the food that wasn't delivered! After another 10 minutes, a dish was placed on our table without a word. The meat, at first glance, didn't look cooked all the way through and, secondly, didn't include the side dishes as ordered. When the person whose meal it was for chased the server to clarify the problem, they were told that the ordered side dishes were no longer available. This begs the question: why can't this be brought up beforehand? I find this handling of the situation extremely dishonest and underscores a business practice that should be repeated. This brings us to the point where we were told that Metaxa sauce was out. This statement turns out to be untrue, as does the claim that the corresponding side dishes were sold out, because both were served a short time later at the next table. This table was occupied by people from the neighboring sports club. I assume these were regular customers. I couldn't explain this preferential treatment any other way. At this point, the good mood we had maintained up to that point, despite the circumstances, was gone. I don't think I'm speculating too much here when I say that no guest is comfortable with being so obviously disadvantaged. After we had finished our food, which was edible (remembering the pasta), despite all the annoyances, we wanted to pay. We wanted to split the bill in two. This alone took another 15-20 minutes. This is completely acceptable if the bills are properly paid. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. Just a reminder: we had to reorder our food. The bills we were given included both the old, never-received dishes and the new ones, and we were asked to pay only for the portion that arrived based on the bills. I highly doubt that such a procedure is even remotely legal. When we demanded a proper bill in a tone that became louder and harsher due to frustration, we were simply given a questioning look. However, we were able to resolve this issue promptly. But here, too, systematic dishonesty is evident. After we paid, we were even harassed by the aforementioned "regulars" on our way out. All in all, the worst restaurant experience I've had in a long time.

It has nothing to do with Greek food. Absolutely terrible. The meat was completely different from what you'd expect. The ambiance wasn't great either. The old pub chairs didn't really fit the ambiance.

Hello. I picked up food today because I was nearby and it would have been too far to my regular Greek restaurant. The atmosphere at first glance was so-so. The door was closed, you had to ring the bell and then they looked at you puzzled as to why you had rung 😅. The food was so-so. The garlic bread was OK (of course it was soft if you didn't eat it there), the pepperoni was very good and tzatziki was good too. The Metaxa sauce (the centerpiece of the meal for me) was a disaster, so I threw half of it away. The calories aren't worth it. I have rarely eaten such tasteless Metaxa sauce. This sauce is so incredibly easy to make, I really wonder how they do it so poorly. Hence my rather poor rating.

Nice quiet atmosphere. Possibility of dining for two or with a large group. The portion is very generous.

I visited this place about 2-3 years ago and loved it back then. Apparently the owner has changed, now it's just the worst Greek place I've ever been to. The gyros was completely over-seasoned, the cassis sauce never saw cassis liqueur in my life, it was just a cream sauce. The broad beans tasted burnt and the mocha tasted like dishwater that had been boiled with moldy coffee beans. Never again and absolutely not recommended. P.S. Now only cash payment is possible and packing costs extra, but will only be communicated when everything has already been packed. Other restaurants have something like this on the menu.

Went to the trade fair in Magdeburg. Went to the restaurant on Friday, November 8th and Saturday, November 9th at 7 p.m. and on both days I ate starter No.22 and Gyros gratin. It was simply a taste explosion. The operation and service 1A Thanks again for the table for two😉

Less Greek, more clubhouse and probably the four of us had a less good day from the cook ;) There was too much of some spices in the food, others were completely missing. When asked when paying, they apologized. In a few months I'll give the Kalipso another try - I'm excited.

I was there yesterday with my fiancé and I wasn't happy. We ordered “fish platter from grill” - the calamari was really bad. They weren't cooked properly and you couldn't eat them. My husband ordered “chicken pancakes” and it was delicious. I ordered “Bifteki” and told the waitress that I can't eat cheese and wanted the Bifteki WITHOUT cheese but I still got it with cheese. I didn't see it at first because I thought it was without cheese, but then I realized there was cheese in it and had a stomach ache the whole night!!!!

We were invited. Unfortunately it doesn't look comfortable from the outside. There was a terrace, unfortunately children from the adjacent soccer field were playing with their ball on it, which is just not nice. Only when we and another table said something did they leave. The staff is very very friendly. The portions are very large and also delicious. We hadn't finished our food. It was also packed up but unfortunately not the most important thing, the tzatziki:( so it was very dry. It has more of a sportsman's home character due to the sports facility right next to it instead of the typical Greek one.

We've been eating here for years. Whether as a couple or with friends. A family restaurant, everyone is very friendly. It's always delicious 😋 Last night (02/02/2024) everything was super delicious again 😋. The garlic bread and grilled pepperoni...hmm. Today, May 1st, 2024, we were here again for dinner. We went to KALIPSO for the first time today and we really enjoyed it. Delicious food (the price/performance ratio is great!) and very friendly staff. Since my sister and her family often eat there, I now know that it is advisable to book a table in advance, as often, like today, all the tables are occupied. Since some of the generous portions were not finished, the waitress asked when clearing away whether the rest should be packed up. So there will be a delicious leftover meal tomorrow😋.

Very pleasant family atmosphere. Cozy. As always, the food was delicious and fresh! We are always very satisfied and happy to be there!

The food is typically Greek and is difficult to manage with very large portions. As a former sports bar, the facilities are clean, but rather rustic and simple. The service is very good and we really enjoy coming here with our children.

We called spontaneously on Saturday shortly before opening and asked for a short-term reservation. This was kindly made possible at such short notice. The food was super tasty and the portions were typically Greek big. The service was great, friendly and quick.

I ate here with my family a while ago. Even the entrance area was reminiscent of the good old days, just not of Greece. No matter - so we entered and were assigned a table in the middle of the presentation plate. Supposedly the others were reserved, but remained unoccupied the entire time. In the room itself, apart from two flat screens showing Greece videos, there wasn't much that reminded us of this beautiful country. The drinks arrived very quickly, including two ouzo that glowed in blue and green. Was there any adulteration here? Then followed a salad that consisted of a spoonful of white cabbage, a spoonful of red cabbage and some grated carrots. Only the olive on top told us that this was an original Greek starter salad. Was there any savings made here? The food reached 9 of us! Minutes after ordering, my son stopped the time. Was this just a warm-up? I had a grill plate that was so small that the meat was literally piled up on it. Quantity and taste were okay. Last but not least, a drink was charged that was not even ordered. Has anyone been damaged here...? It can happen, but it shouldn't! Conclusion: there is still a lot of room for improvement.

The price performance ratio is very good. The portions were very generous and very tasty. The friendliness of the staff was great. It was only a bit cool in the men's room. 😁

Wir waren heute spontan hier und waren sehr zufrieden. Klar, das Ambiente ist jetzt nicht umwerfend, aber geht vollkommen ok. Das Essen war wie erwartet reichlich und lecker. Das größte Plus ist hier definitiv das Personal. Unfassbar höflich, sehr freundlich, sehr aufmerksam. Kleine Extrawünsche (Portion Ketchup), oder Änderungen beim Essen, es war alles überhaupt kein Problem. Alles in allem ein gutes Essen, mit tollem Personal und sehr gute Preise. Wir würden wiederkommen, vielen Dank.

Ich war skeptisch, da das Restaurant auf den ersten Blick von außen nicht den einladendsten Eindruck macht. Das ganze hat sich jedoch schnell ins Positive verwandelt. Sehr schneller und guter Service. Das Essen war sehr lecker! Gerne wieder :)

Gestern waren wir einer Einladung folgend zum Abendessen hier. Dass es sich beim Kalipso um eine frühere Sportgaststätte direkt neben einem Fußballplatz handelt, lässt sich sowohl an den baulichen Gegebenheiten sowie dem Interieur wiedererkennen. Etwas Dekoration an den Wänden wertet das Ambiente nur wenig auf. Und obwohl die Räumlichkeit sehr großzügig war, saßen wir mit 10 Personen sehr beengt. Drei kleine quadratische Tischlein zusammen gestellt boten nur wenig Platz für Teller, Gläser und Besteck. Der Service war freundlich und umsichtig. Das Essen wurde zeitnah nach Bestellung gebracht und war geschmacklich in Ordnung, jedoch kein besonders kulinarisches Erlebnis. Die Portionen wie so oft in der griechischen Küche sehr groß, so dass fast jeder von uns halb volle Teller zurück gehen ließ. Es wäre da schöner, wenn für den Preis mehr Wert auf Qualität statt auf Quantität gelegt würde.

Sehr freundliches Personal für Familien mit Kindern besten geeignet, und vor allem super leckeres Essen.

Angenehmer Grieche mit freundlicher Bedienung und guter Qualität. Empfehlenswert auch der trockene Weisswein, der im Gegensatz zu den anderen griechischen nicht geharzt ist. Ungewöhnlich ist, daß kein Brot serviert wird. Aber das kann man leicht verschmerzen.

Sehr leckeres Essen, sehr nette Bedienung...man fühlt sich wie zu Hause. Schon seit längerem unser Lieblings-Grieche.

Ein tolles Restaurant, ich hatte einen Gutschein der leider drei Tage abgelaufen ist, als ich angerufen habe hat der Chef mir gesagt dass es kein Problem sei noch vorbei zu kommen. Ich hatte einen sehr schönen Abend mit meinem Mann. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Ich kann dieses Restaurant nur weiter empfehlen.

Seit Jahren mit Abstand einer der besten Griechen Magdeburgs. Da steht der Chef noch selbst in der Küche! Immer frische Zutaten, das Gyros ist außen knusprig und innen saftig, dabei nicht zu überwürzt. Das Personal ist immer freundlich und zuvorkommend, davon können sich manch andere mal ein Beispiel nehmen. Die Karte ist vielfältig, nicht überladen und bietet so manche Spezialität. Mein Tipp: die Lammhaxe mit Bohnen. Wir sind aus Überzeugung regelmäßig hier, nachdem wir in Magdeburg von vielen griechischen Restaurants enttäuscht wurden oder mit Mittelmaß bedient wurden. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Die Einrichtung ist etwas rustikal aber das ist reine Geschmackssache. Das Essen war super lecker und wirklich viel. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Auch war das Essen super schnell am Tisch ohne lange Wartezeiten 🙂sollten wir mal wieder in Magdeburg sein kommen wir auf jeden Fall wieder 🍛

Gutes Essen, aber leider keine schöne Atmosphäre zum "schön Essen gehen". Außerdem war die Bedienung ziemlich unfreundlich und bestand darauf, dass durch den Austausch von Gyros durch ein Bifteki (Grillteller) ein Aufpreis von 13€ gerechtfertigt wäre (Preis des Grilltellers auf der Karte knapp 18€) und fing an, rumzudiskutieren. Unangenehm.

Sehr nette Bedienung, guter Service. Das Essen war heiß allerdings habe ich schon leckerer beim Griechen gegessen. Das ist aber meine persönliche Meinung. Preis und Leistung sind angemessen.

Tolles Essen,toller Service,sehr freundlich. Wir sind spontan eingekehrt und hatten eine schöne Zeit auf der Terrasse am Sportplatz bei herrlichen Sonnenschein und leckerem Essen.

Wir waren zum Geburtstag hier essen und das war wirklich sehr gut. Für mich bisher das beste griechische Restaurant in Magdeburg, und wir haben viele probiert. Wir waren zu 3 und haben mit Vorspeisen, 3 Hauptgerichte und Getränke 64 Euro bezahlt. Die Portionen war für uns zuviel von daher gab es nächsten Tag die Reste.

Dieser Grieche hat sich nach unserem 1. Besuch in 2021 und dann weiteren Besuchen zu unserem Lieblingsgriechen entwickelt. Essen super Qualität, auch alles sehr saftig und großzügige Portionen. Jedesmal ein anderes Gericht gewählt. Auch die Vorspeisen sind sehr schön angerichtet und schmecken gut. Bedienung ist sehr aufmerksam und nett. Wir fühlen uns immer sehr gut aufgehoben dort. Das Ambiente ist eher rustikal und es ist eher von außen unscheinbar. Mit 2 Leuten findet man eigentlich meist einen Platz, obwohl wir dennoch jedes Mal reserviert haben. Auch zu mehreren immer gut gesessen und gespeist. Im Sommer kann man super draußen sitzen, bekommt dann aber auch das Fußballtraining mit.
