Käfer Gut Kaltenbrunn in Gmund a.Tegernsee

The wedding that I was able to photograph at Gut Kaltenbrunn in 2022 is definitely one of my highlights from 10 years of wedding photography. The location of the location is simply perfect - it is particularly practical that the lakeshore is within walking distance. So I was able to photograph the bride and groom in the beautiful evening light without the guests even noticing that we had briefly disappeared. Also worth highlighting is the first-class service. The food is anything but standard – creatively presented and tastes outstanding. It was an unforgettable day with a wonderful celebration and a legendary party!

We celebrated our wedding here in a small circle in the “Old Office” room and it was perfect for us! During the planning, Lukas from the event team was there to help us at all times, answering all our questions and fulfilling our wishes. The room itself was perfect because we sat alone at a great big table, but also had space to dance and play music. The service was terrific, our guests were also enthusiastic, he was always there but at the same time in the background. The food was, as always, super delicious. Thank you for making such a great evening possible for us!

Long waiting times, you won't even be noticed. In addition: Sunday 4 p.m. only Kaiserschmarrn, if you ask whether there is cake, you as a guest should look into the display case yourself - only to find out that there is no cake. Bravo! Service bad.

We were looking forward to Gut Kaltenbrunn. Unfortunately it was a failure, a shame. Service was friendly - although overwhelmed - there were simply not enough waiters for the large catering area. The food today was simply not worth the money. The crustacean soup was lukewarm, as were the two main courses. Risotto completely watery, lukewarm and tasteless, it's a real shame that such a plate leaves the kitchen. Unfortunately, the monkfish on the risotto also died in vain. To "treat" such a beautiful fish like that....I'm at a loss for words. You didn't have the chance to say today that you were unhappy with the quality, otherwise we would have liked to have clarified it on site. No matter how beautiful the place is, unfortunately not again for the time being.

Eating takes a long time. Service sometimes forgot the order

Food was good, but not as good as previous visits. Waited a long time for the food!! Given the prices, I always expect top performance... For me, too many dogs in the restaurant, some of them sitting on the chairs and benches, is an absurdity for me and I lose my appetite.

Very nice Bavarian restaurant, gorgeous view of the Lake Tegernsee. Atmosphere is really nice, classy for Bavarian restaurant but a bit stiff and uptight, welcoming but like "doing you a favour". It is pretty common in high end Bavarian places to encounter this "exclusive" stiffness.

Gut Kaltenbrunn is in a prime location above Lake Tegernsee. The bus - free for overnight guests in the valley - stops right in front of the door. You can park in the on-site parking lot. The area is spacious and there is an overview map at the entrance. The decoration was very nice, the atmosphere is inviting and cozy. I was here for coffee and cake on December 15th, 2024. The cake counter and cake menu do not contain any prices, and the mulled wine was also a - not so good - surprise: €6.90 for a mug! Overall, the price level is typical of Beetle: too high. Cake and mulled wine were good. I was placed where the service runs and everyone goes to the toilet :( The service was friendly.

The atmosphere is really super cozy – you feel at home as soon as you come in. The service is great, very friendly and accommodating, you can't complain about that. The food was really good, solid and tasty, even if it wasn't anything extraordinary or special. All in all, a nice visit, especially because of the atmosphere and the friendly team!

We had a late lunch in the restaurant with two small children. The food was excellent but, as already reported several times, the service could be improved. There were several high chairs to choose from, but they were all very dirty and some of them were broken/shaky, an absurdity

Gut Kaltenbrunn on Lake Tegernsee was a nice stop after a day of hiking. Because we had reserved beforehand, we were quickly assigned a free table. Unfortunately the roast pork was already over at 7 p.m. - a bit of a shame. Instead, it turned out to be a duck for you. In terms of quality, I found it very tasty, but it could have been a little warmer and more in terms of proportions. I find parking strange with the license plate recognition and the QR for self-validation. You never know exactly whether it worked and whether you have to go to a machine again when you go.

Wir waren zur Weihnachtsfeier hier und es hat alles gepasst. Von der Angebotserstellung bis zum Abschluss war alles super! Der Service war sehr aufmerksam aber nicht aufdringlich. Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut und auch die Portionen mehr als ausreichend. Insgesamt hatten wir einen sehr schönen Abend bei einem tollen Ausblick.

Angefangen vom personal über dass Essen bis hinzu dem Ambiente war es ein doch gelungener Abend den wir gerne wiederholen möchten. Herausheben möchte ich den lieben Herrn der uns bedient hat und sein Handwerk wirklich sehr gut beherrscht.

Spent a wonderful evening at Käfer Gut Kaltenbrunn. Everything is just right here, the location, the service and of course the food. The service was totally attentive and very friendly. We have nothing to complain about at all. On the contrary, we can highly recommend stopping by here and letting yourself be pampered. Today we were guests at Käfer Gut Kaltenbrunn for the second time. The location is just outside the hustle and bustle of the many shops and other crowded places on Tegernsee. This is a big plus and the ambience is also completely convincing. Everything is very spacious and the farm shop and restaurant are kept in a uniform, alpine-rustic, yet cozy style. This impression also runs through the menu. Bavarian classics such as schnitzel made from saddle of milk veal are also represented, as is boiled veal beef or corn-fed chicken breast. Fish dishes and vegetarian dishes are also not neglected. The meat is usually of a very high quality and the side dishes (kohlrabi vegetables, fried potatoes, croquettes, jus...) are diverse, suitable and varied. There is no skimping on the choices for dessert. A regional cheese selection is also represented, as is creme brulee, chocolate mousse and “Heiße Liebe”. However, you have to eat the Kaiserschmarrn if you are a guest at Gut Kaltenbrunn. Two types of compote as a side dish and served really stylishly and in a sufficient portion. For other dishes, the portion size is a bit economical. The service is courteous on most days, but there may be waiting times on busy days and only three people in the dining room. Today, for example, we sat for an hour and still didn't have a main course... If you come on days that aren't very busy and can ignore one or two service problems, you've come to the right place. In terms of cuisine, there is nothing wrong here. I hope I was able to help you with this review and wish the location all the best for the future.

Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ I was looking forward to a good Kaiserschmarrn, but was unfortunately disappointed. The dough was firm and more reminiscent of dumpling dough that was simply cut into slices. In addition, the Kaiserschmarrn was very heavily caramelized, possibly to disguise the firm consistency. The dish arrived about 10 minutes before my cappuccino, which further detracted from the enjoyment. One positive point: the staff was friendly, which made the experience a little more pleasant. Nevertheless, I would like the food to be of significantly better quality and a more coordinated serving time. Unfortunately no recommendation for the Kaiserschmarrn.

Our experiences are mostly positive. With a very nice location, cuisine of a very high standard and a great ambience, it is always worth a visit. The only point of criticism compared to other hotels of this quality is the unfriendly and work-shy staff. You expect much more here.

We were there with visitors on November 29th. in the Advent market. At first we were put off by the entrance fee of €10.00. But well, it's only Advent once a year. The inner courtyard was filled with performers, but only half full, which didn't particularly improve the mood. Overall, everything was a bit bland and with only a few visitors, the atmosphere wasn't very atmospheric. You could really feel sorry for the showmen. All in all, an underground event that is/was not worth the entrance fee and cannot be recommended.

We visited you on November 13th, 2024 at noon. Of the three dishes we ate, only one was an absolute highlight, visually and tastefully, as you would expect from Käfer: The tuna tataki! The service was friendly and fulfilled all of our wishes. We were greeted with the message that the restaurant was cold. But we could wait until a place became available in the old room. We then chose the left cool area because we didn't want to wait. In the end we were shivering. We suspect that energy is being saved because there are few expected guests. But we could even understand that by announcing the reason. Now on to the two following dishes. Unfortunately, the “Homemade Tagliatelle with Porcini Mushrooms” was mush – the absolute opposite of al dente. And now for the highlight: “Bavarian young bull tartare with white onions and pickled beech mushrooms”. The tartare itself was well done so far. It was served with an unpleasant, light, indefinable porridge on which there were soured mushrooms - dispensable unless they had been fried, here only glassware. Sour silver onions from the jar were also included as white onions (possible explanation: saves time when working in the kitchen). We don't like such goods at all. Because I like a lot of onions with tartare, I asked for additional onions. We were offered a small bowl of more brownish pearl onions. That's exactly what we didn't expect. That's why I asked for raw, real onion. Our wish was fulfilled after about 20 minutes. “She had to be taken out of the cellar first” was the friendly waitress’ explanation for the long waiting time. It is said: “The onion is the secret queen of the kitchen”. And you don't have it available at all times in your kitchen? That makes me wonder. The onion, the secret queen of the kitchen. And you only have them in the basement, what?

Yes, you sit well. Yes, the Kaiserschmarrn is very tasty. But there are many things that don't work, relatively long waiting times, tables are not cleared for a long time after the guests have left and food arrives at the tables very delayed. Unfortunately, service/friendliness doesn't quite match the high quality of the food and the great view. Prices are more appropriate. Be sure to reserve in advance! Recommendation: when the weather is nice, visit the beer garden next to it.

wir waren im juli mit einer sehr großen gruppe mittags zum 3-gang-menu im gut kaltenbrunn. damals war das essen sehr lecker und der service sehr gut. also beschlossen wir, den 80.geburtstag meiner mutter ende oktober hier zu feiern. wir bekamen wie gewünscht einen tisch am fenster. die überzähligen gedecke wurden nicht entfernt, also schoben wir sie zur seite...speisen wurden durchwachsen gewertet: saibling gut, sogar auf wunsch am tisch tranchiert, allerdings wenig beilage. wiener schnitzel fad mit einem sehr essigsauren kartoffel-gurkensalat. tagliatelle mit steinpilzen hatten einen sehr stattlichen preis (€ 27,80). die hausgemachten kürbisravioli (€ 24,80) als hauptgericht sättigen unseren sohn derart, dass er sich im anschluß die bauernente (gut) bestellte, um satt zu werden :-) kaltenbrunner kalbsrahmgulasch war ok. der kaiserschmarrn war etwas ungewöhnlich, jedoch lecker. fazit: preis-leistung passt hier nicht.

Service war ok. Allerdings war der kalt und die Suppen auch. Dar Brot zur Suppe wurde völlig vergessen. Für eine Gaststätte mit diesem Bekanntheitsgrad wirklich arm. Gab auch nicht wirklich eine Entschuldigung. Echt schade. Nicht empfehlenswert zu den Preisen

Never experienced it! Despite a table reservation at 12 p.m., guests have to wait outside, about 15 minutes in front of the restaurant. The front door was only unlocked at 12 p.m. A manager with blonde hair implemented this measure in a very unfriendly manner. The atmosphere in the house is appealing, the food was very tasty and the service at the table also deserves praise.

Only the location is beautiful. Food and service don't suit a beetle. The snack plate was passed over the counter and the snack fell off the plate. The waitress grabbed what had fallen with his hands and put it back on the plate. Ordered warm meatloaf overcooked and therefore dry.

The ambience is beautifully rustic and the view is gigantic. Unfortunately, so are the prices. In principle it's justified if one portion fills you up, but with 12 small ravioli for €25 that's completely overkill and unfortunately they were too salty. The Kaiserschmarrn was ok, but you couldn't eat a whole portion because it was completely covered in syrup. I would come back for drinks, but choose another restaurant for food. I was definitely hoping for more. There are parking spaces, but they are only included for 3 hours.

Ich schreibe diese Bewertung in der Hoffnung, dass sie von zuständigem Personal gelesen wird. Das Essen ist meistens sehr lecker. Die Preise sind hoch, aber das nimmt man für die Kategorie dieser Gastwirtschaft in Kauf. Bei unserem letzen Besuch waren wir jedoch sehr enttäuscht. Wir wurden von einem neuen, uns nicht bekannten Kellner an dem Abend bedient. Zu Beginn des Abends „warf“ er uns die Speisekarten regelrecht auf den Tisch, anstatt sie anzureichen. Die Vorspeisensuppe wurde erst ohne Löffel serviert, dieser wurde erst im Nachhinein mit der bloßen Hand nachgereicht. Nach dem Essen wurden wir gefragt, ob wir noch etwas trinken wollen, haben es aber verneint, da wir noch Wasser in unseren Gläsern hatten. Daraufhin fragte der Kellner, ob er uns denn dann die Rechnung bringen dürfte (also eine Art Rauswurf). Zuhause angekommen stellten wir dann auch noch fest, dass wir mindestens 15 Euro zu viel gezahlt hatten, als wir die Preise der Bestellungen nochmal überschlagen haben, was uns dann noch richtig verärgert hat. In einem Restaurant mit einem derartigen Anspruch, welches Gut Kaltenbrunn sein möchte, darf so etwas nicht passieren. Wird das neue Personal denn nicht zu Beginn geschult? Wird diesem nicht Etikette beigebracht? Wird dies nicht kontrolliert? Zusammengefasst hat sich also der Service verschlechtert, was wir im übrigens schon von vielen Leuten aus dem Tal gehört haben. Da gehen wir ehrlich gesagt lieber zu dem bekannten Konkurrenten in Bad Wiessee. Dort ist das gesamte Personal immer höflich und aufmerksam und es wird Wert auf Etikette gelegt. Also liebes Gut Kaltenbrunn Team, unternimmt bitte etwas gegen dieses Problem, dann kommen wir auch gerne wieder.

We celebrated my sister's birthday there and were very satisfied. Very tasty food, later also had very tasty eclairs with coffee. Our dogs were welcome and we didn't have to pay for the parking space as a customer.

The planning and assistance were a great support to us and our wishes were taken into account. The decoration in collaboration with Wiesent was beautiful! The service was excellent, the glasses were always full, everyone was helpful at all times. The food was perfection, whether it was beef fillet, fish or ravioli - everything was on point! The cake was an absolute dream, both visually and taste-wise! Unfortunately we couldn't hold our wedding outside due to rain - but even here everything was rescheduled the day before. Das Essen entspricht nicht dem Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Hatte einen Schweinebraten. Essen fast kalt, sehr lieblos angerichtet und sehr wenig. So was habe ich noch nirgendwo anders bekommen. Sehr enttäuschend. Einmal und nie wieder. Nicht zu empfehlen

Das Gut Kaltenbrunn ist eigentlich immer einen Ausflug wert, allein schon wegen der Lage. Das Peronal war wie immer sehr professionell, aufmerksam und nett. Das poschierte Wallerfilet allerdings war ziemlich langweilig, kaum gewürzt und die Beilagen ziemlich gewöhnungsbedürftig und geschmacklos. Fisch könnt Ihr aber besser, ich hab das schon mal ganz anders erlebt. Meine Frau hingegen war vom Hirschrücken restlos begeistert. Da wir selbst Gemälde sammeln, sind wir auch wegen der Verkaufsausstellung Art & Design gekommen (hat aber nichts mit dieser Bewertung zu tun). Nun weiß ich endlich, was Kunst ist. "Die Kunst besteht darin, sich zu trauen, so etwas für solch utopische Preis verkaufen zu wollen und dafür auch noch Eintritt zu verlangen!"

The best Kaiserschmarrn we have ever eaten.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this unique restaurant with a fascinating view over Lake Tegernsee. It combines transition, taste, excellent service and cuisine, aesthetic decoration and Bavarian culture. As a wedding photographer, it is my top location and I am really looking forward to more events!

Wonderful, cozy atmosphere. Finest dishes. All around good service. We were at Käfer Gut Kaltenbrunn for a family celebration. We were warmly welcomed. The service was excellent and attentive. The dishes were excellent and varied. We liked the fact that Käfer Gut Kaltenbrunn is a first-class restaurant, but still maintains a casual and relaxed atmosphere. A far cry from any of the fancy restaurants that abound in this area.

You can eat excellently at Käfer gut Kaltenbrunn, the selection is large. There are enough seats, although reservations are recommended. The café built right on the lake with a beautiful view is worth visiting. Parking spaces are plentiful. The service is very friendly and quick, the food is beautifully prepared and served in a reasonable time frame. Sanitary facilities are modern and clean. We couldn't visit the spacious indoor area because the weather was too nice for that. So if you're thinking about going there, do it, it's worth it.

Poor service - had to ask multiple times to be able to order. Some of the cakes at the counter are already melted and old. Food came with completely dirty cutlery. Toilets unkempt. Were for a test dinner for a large family celebration with 100 guests. We like to eat well, and we also like to have something to eat. Here it was just outrageous.

For a cozy day at Tegernsee - whether in the beer garden or in the restaurant - it is absolutely recommended.

The scenery of the location is great and one of the best in Tegernsee region. Unfortunately, neither the quality nor the service can be compared to Käfer in Munich.

First visit, but not the last! The estate has a self-service beer garden, a restaurant with large outdoor seating and probably much more in the extensive complex. The view over the entire Tegernsee is sensational. We went to the restaurant and had an excellent meal. Online reservation on the same day was no problem, changing tables to the front row wasn't a problem either, very friendly, nice service and excellent quality of food.

Das Gut verfügt über einen Biergarten mit Selbstbedienung, ein Restaurant mit großer Aussenbestuhlung und wahrscheinlich noch vieles mehr in der weitläufigen Anlage. Die Aussicht über den gesamten Tegernsee ist sensationell. Wir waren im Restaurant und haben hervorragend gegessen. Online-Reservierung am selber Tag kein Problem, Tischwechsel in die erste Reihe ebenfalls nicht, sehr freundliche nette Bedienungen und ausgezeichnete Qualität des Essens.

Was at dinner today. I've eaten here very often. Starter was good. But when I got the schnitzel, I asked the waiter if it was a toasti? Even the supplements were catastrophic. Waiter passed it on. The waiter's reaction was "I'm just the taxi" so I praise myself :-) Sit in the beetle and the schnitzel and side dishes are a disgrace. You don't see me anymore. As a couple, we often went to the beer garden and the visitor area. We always like it. Food is good and inexpensive, as are drinks. The view is unique, thank God you can't feel anything from Chici-Micki. Always happy again. And: the visitor area with bar tables and beach chairs is gigantic.
