Great inn. Good food, friendly staff and a beautiful location close to the lake.

Der schmucke Langasthof im Ortskern von Gmund ist mit hauseigenen Parkplätzen nicht gerade gesegnet. Sehr angenehm lässt es sich im Gastgarten sitzen, obwohl der Strassenlärm des Durchgangsverkehrs präsent ist. Die Speisenkarte ist für ein derartiges Haus mit bairischer Küche repräsentativ. Von Rindertatar über Kasspatzen und Holzfällersteak bis zum Wiener Schnitzel und dem unvermeidlichen Schweinsbraten findet man alles, was der Norddeutsche Urlauber in Bayern erwartet. Die Pfifferlingsuppe war pfiffig gewürzt und das fränkische Schäufele eine Riesenportion mit einer tollen dunklen Sosse. Sehr gefällig auch der zugehörige Speckkrautsalat. Während die Fleischpflanzerl etwas trocken waren, fanden wir den Kartoffelsalat sehr gelungen. Der Herr vom Service machte einen eher gequälten Eindruck, wohingegen sein weibliches Pendent eine aufgewecktere Berufsauffassung an den Tag legte. FAZIT: Gut bürgerliche bairische Küche in passendem Ambiente.

Geht so. Wir hatten für den ersten Abend reserviert, leider entsprach es nicht ganz unseren Erwartungen an gute bayerische Gastronomie. Das Schäufferla war eine zähe Enttäuschung, der Umgang mit der Kritik dagegen professionell.

Wir haben dem Restaurant zwei mal eine Chance gegeben. Leider war beides mal die gleiche Katastrophe. Der Schweizer Wurstsalat war vermutlich ein Fertiggericht aus dem Eimer und dafür über 12,- € zu verlangen ist eine Frechheit. Beim zweiten Besuch habe ich das teuerste und schlechteste Wiener Schnitzel ever bekommen. Trotz großem Hunger konnte ich es nicht essen, weil es schlichtweg nicht genießbar war. Die Unaufmerksamkeit der Servicekräfte ist erwähnenswert - man hat den Eindruck, dass man vor leeren Gläsern verdurstet. Schade um das schöne Lokal. Da ist viel Luft nach oben.

For me one of the most beautiful restaurants in Gmund. The food is always super fresh and the service is incredibly friendly. Been going there for a while and enjoy taking family and friends when they visit. Above all, the freshly tapped wooden barrel beer is sensational.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our visit. The children's schnitzels were ready-made schnitzels from the freezer, the normal portion of the mock roast was small (a dumpling) and expensive and the crust of the roast pork was so hard that you could neither cut nor bite it. It was also served lukewarm and the meat was extremely fatty. A pity.

We are locals and have been here many times before with the old Pächters, but today was really a bad experience. We called before, they confirmed they had space. However the Gasthof was completely overseated, they only had four or maybe five waiters. We waited over an hour for our food. Everything took super long. In total we were here for two hours, we just wanted to have a quick bite. When we ordered they said that we can have extra wishes because the food is preprepared. We did not understand why it then needed to take an hour. Food was okay, but service was really bad and partially a bit unfriendly too.

Unfriendly welcome from the waiter, what we were there for (food). No more kitchen (9:15 p.m.)… ok. Apparently there's nothing left that has an open kitchen... Luckily, 300 meters away there was a delicious pizzeria that was incredibly friendly. Asked beforehand whether there were drinks until 11 p.m.: the answer was yes… so back after dinner. 10:23 p.m.... The counter has already been cleaned, there's nothing left... you row back for a moment, you could at least serve a bottled beer. Will be cashed in immediately… never again. It's a shame, it's a cozy restaurant in itself, but that's how you lose your desire.

Greatly located inn with very friendly service and delicious food. In addition to the standard menu, there is also a seasonal menu (now chanterelles). The sun terrace is worth its weight in gold and invites you to linger. We'll definitely come back 😎😎

A beautiful and well-kept inn in Bavarian style. Large guest room with separate areas using wood-clad, half-height room dividers. The evening menu starts at 5 p.m. and we had liver dumpling soup, Wiener Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarn...mmmhh...tasty. Since we were traveling by public transport, we were happy that there were bus stops right in front of the house. So we were able to continue directly to Tegernsee.

Bavarian hearty, just as you would expect as a Rhinelander in Bavaria. We had the Viennese - a huge portion, I think the small version (also available) is completely sufficient.

Beautiful, high-quality renovated building - makes an impression. Including outdoor terrace... But: service tired and not very flexible AND the goulash was pretty bland, the dumpling was floury => in short: not very enthusiastic.

The food was very good, I found the portion too small for the price. I had fish (it was delicious) and mashed potatoes (2 tablespoons at most). My husband had liver (it was a large portion) but not enough mashed potatoes. Staff was very nice.

Unfortunately, the new tenant charges quite high prices. A turkey strip salad costs 18 euros and is very small. In addition, it is not tasty in terms of taste. Bread is not included and must be ordered separately for 1.20 euros. These are two pieces of old baguette. The same applies to the Kaiserschmarrn, for which the applesauce is charged extra. We therefore prefer the Seeglas restaurant because the portions there are significantly larger and taste more appealing. 1 star because the Kaiserschmarrn was really good, but the soups were inedible.

Very nice inn! We sat in the sun in the beer garden for the second time and were served very friendly. We ate a very good roast pork and a juicy corn-fed chicken breast on risotto with asparagus. Only recommended! What's really fun, of course, is beer fresh from the wooden barrel on Tuesdays. It was a pleasure!

We were there shortly before the kitchens and got super good, high-quality food at a really fast pace. Absolutely friendly staff. Attentive and courteous. This is how service should be! We felt welcome and would be happy to be guests again on our next visit to Tegernsee.

Just great! Today I went to Tegernsee with my family to eat at the Gasthof Maximilian. We really liked everything from service to food to ambience. We were warmly greeted and said goodbye. The food is disappointing: trout (very dry, no taste) and char not recommended, the roast pork is ok but very expensive. Dessert tastes like "pimped up" finished product, nothing special, but at least too expensive. Addendum: We were there again now. The roast pork was only lukewarm and only consisted of a dry piece of edge. The large portion only included 1 dumpling, which we actually know with 2. It also took quite a long time. Disappointing for the high prices. Don't come back for a while.

Wir konnten den Biergarten draußen bei Sonnenschein nutzen. Wir hatten den Schweinsbraten mit Klössen und Speck-Krautsalat. Dies war schon mega lecker..... Als Nachtisch gab es Kaiserschmarrn..... Wahnsinn, sowas von lecker. Wir waren absolut begeistert!!!!!! Wir kommen wieder !!!!!

The Gasthof Herzog Maximilian is located near Lake Tegernsee. You can't complain about the ambience, it was nicely located and clean. Unfortunately the service wasn't for us. The chemistry wasn't right. When we asked if we could keep a menu at the table, we were put off with "he needs it somewhere else". Not enough menus? Overall, he was there very rarely and seemed arrogant. Seemed very stressed even though the guest area wasn't that full. The food was partly rather poor. The Kaasspatzen were very good, as was the onion roast. The degree of doneness was well achieved. Liver dumpling soup was solid. The asparagus cream soup was neither creamy nor had the taste of asparagus present. A very watery and tasteless affair. After our complaint, it was admitted that the soup was very unsuccessful, but unfortunately we were still charged for it. A lot was expected for the Tyrolean bacon plate for the price, but it was disappointing. We found 2 slices of bread with 5 slices of ham to be far too little for the price and had little to do with a "platter". The Wiener Schnitzel was dry but OK, but we had to pay the price for a large portion even though a small portion was ordered and brought to the table. After asking, we were put off with “it’s veal”. So service had neither listened nor acted. Overall, a modest end to Tegernsee. We definitely won't come again.

Simply hearty. Upscale but still traditional cuisine. It was a pleasure. When a new wooden barrel is tapped, it is first pulled up from the cellar with a pulley and then announced loudly with a bell. Nice tradition!

Very nice restaurant - inside and out. A must - the roast pork. Unbelievable good. I can't understand criticism of the staff here in the reviews at all. Prices may be a little higher - but considering the quality, they are really reasonable.

Thanks for replying to my review 5 days ago :) Today's 1 star review is for being kicked out of the restaurant after an honest review was given that didn't even mention everything, but mainly for the other two dishes ordered that day. First of all, it's a "suit" to staff who have apparently already missed verbal criticism of the food in the past to convey to the kitchen or those responsible - no positive feedback - criticism was expressed - stupidly tried the food again - no change - bad rating. A process that is understandable for responsible citizens. But to be expelled for this as a long-time regular when visiting the restaurant again borders on ridiculous. For food other than the messed up onion roast: according to everyone at the table, the same bad sauce for the roast pork as for the onion roast and ready-made potato salad for the not even average schnitzel. A pity!

Wir haben hier sehr gepflegt zu Abend gegessen. Mein Freund hatte Schweinsbraten mit Knödeln und Krautsalat und hatte mit der Portion zu kämpfen. Ich habe ausgezeichnete Kasspatzn mit Gurkensalat gegessen. Die fritierten Zwiebeln hätten etwas krosser sein können, aber der Käse war sehr gut. Angenehme Atmosphäre, netter Service, akzeptable Preise. Natürlich sehr fleischlastige Karte wie überall in den bayrischen Gasthöfen. Wir waren trotzdem zufrieden und kommen sicher wieder.

NO! After the change of ownership at the beginning of 2024, I would be ashamed to recommend this food to anyone! What was once the best onion roast in the district can no longer keep up with the standard and some of the dishes are a disgrace for the prices! I now prefer to go back to the Bräustüberl and eat the mass-produced food before I spend another cent here. Sad!

Have eaten very well here for the second time. We were again thrilled with the service and ambience. Our absolute heart recommendation is the Kaiserschmarrn, which you can also share in several parts as a dessert. You can also park for free in the Rewe underground car park for several hours. Dogs are also welcome and art supplies are available for children.

Sausage salad was very good. 1/2 duck OK lots of meat. Not everyone likes red cabbage with raisins and should be shown on the menu.

Wir waren am Neujahrstag im Maximilians und wurden sehr herzlich von den neuen Pächtern empfangen. Die Neugestaltung des Gasthofs ist sehr gelungen, duch die schöne Deko und die angenehme Beleuchtung entsteht eine sehr gemütliche Atmosphäre. Wir haben Wiener Schnitzel gegessen und waren sehr zufrieden, das Schnitzel war goldbraun und wellig ausgebraten, dazu gab es leckere Kartoffeln und erfrischenden Gurkensalat, alles schmackhaft gewürzt. Die Portion war sehr großzügig und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis absolut angemessen! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall bald wieder!

Das Essen- ich hatte ein Wiener Schnitzel mit toller Panade und knusprigen Pommes- sehr lecker und weit über Standard…… kühles Tegernseer noch dazu. Zum wiederholten Mal haben wir vorzüglich gegessen und waren angenehm überrascht von der Freundlich- und Gastlichkeit!

Sehr leckerer Krustenbraten - ganz zartes Fleisch - aber leider etwas lieblos und "blass" auf dem Teller angerichtet.

Das Essen gut. Wir mussten kaum warten. Preise sind im mittleren Segment.

Montag, Tischreservierung, 30 Min auf Service gewartet, Schweinebraten um 19 Uhr ausverkauft am Tegernsee im Herzen von Bayern, als Alternativen nur WIENER Schnitzel oder STEAK. Bayrische echte traditionelle Küche wird es nicht mehr geben, nur noch der schöne Schein.

Essen top, aber Service teilweise respektlos und unverschämt! Zunächst mal möchte ich sagen dass mein Schweinebraten absolut köstlich war. Ich war im Maximilian zum Abendessen. Als wir bereits gezahlt hatten, hatte ich im Nachhinein den Eindruck dass uns zu viele Schnäpse in Rechnung gestellt wurden, was ich reklamierte. Während der Ober vor der Reklamation noch sehr freundlich war, meinte er zur Reklamation nur schnippisch "wenn das so auf der Rechnung steht, dann hattet ihr das auch" - kein offenes Ohr, keine Erklärung, gar nichts. Als wir ihm dann zur Bar folgten um das Thema beim Ober nochmals vorzubringen, gestikulierte seine Kollegin dass mein Bruder nach Alkohol stinke und wandte sich demonstrativ ab. Erst als die Beiden ihre Chefin holten konnten wir unsere Reklamation besprechen. Es kann sein wie es ist - ob wir tatsächlich die Anzahl an Getränken hatten die uns in Rechnung gestellt wurden oder nicht - aber meine Erwartung an jeglichen gastronomischen Betrieb wäre es als Kunde mit einem Minimum an Respekt behandelt zu werden. Vor Allem muss ich mich nicht beleidigen oder als Dumm hinstellen lassen wenn ich etwas zu reklamieren habe

War alles einfach tadellos. Das einzige Manko ist, dass man immer wieder kommen möchte ;)

Klasse Essen zu guten Preisen für diese Gegend. Tolle Inneneinrichtung! Mehr als eine Alternative zum Bräustüberl Tegernsee.

Sehr freundlicher,aufmerksamer und flotter Service. Preis und Portionsgröße passen. Beim Schnitzel hat mir die kleine Portion vollkommen gereicht. Essen kommt schnell,ist gut gewürzt und wirklich heiß. Kann ich wirklich nur empfehlen. Kleines Minus ist leider die etwas schwierige Parksituation, besonders,wenn man Ortsfremd ist und sich nicht auskennt. Kleiner Tipp: laut Info auf dem Tisch kann man für 3 Stunden kostenlos ein Parkhaus nutzen. Am besten vorher kundig machen.

Das Essen ist klasse. Probier mal das Brezencarpaccio - der Hammer. Bei den Bedienungen kommt es, wie so oft drauf an, dass man Glück hat. Wenn man die richtige Frau oder Mann erwischt, ist es klasse. Wenn nicht, entschädigt das Essen (fast) alles.

Ein sehr schönes altes Gasthaus mit viel Tradition sollte man annehmen. Leider wurde die sehr gute Speicherkarte auf ein minimum reduziert. Der Service ist eher als nicht sehr motiviert zu bezeichnen. So wie man lesen konnte wird der jetzige Pächter noch dieses Jahr aufhören. Das hat man gemerkt. Ich hoffe das ein neuer Pächter mit mehr Ambitionen das Gasthaus übernimmt und ihn wirklich zu altem Glanz erweckt. Potential ist auf jeden Fall da.
