Unfortunately, the authentic Wiener schnitzel was more breading than meat. The fries were lumpy, burnt, and reheated. Outrageous for the price.

We were able to sit in the lovely beer garden. The young man who served our table served us with the utmost professionalism and friendliness! We were inspired by the chanterelle mushroom menu... The food, the Iberico pork cutlet with mashed potatoes and chanterelle mushrooms, and the ravioli, also with chanterelle mushrooms, were excellent and of the highest quality! The side salad was also fresh and delicious, and the dressing was excellent! Many thanks to the entire team; we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

Unfortunately, a complete flop! We left after 30 minutes of being ignored. Extremely unfriendly waitresses who would rather chat and laugh loudly in the kitchen than attend to the guests. One waits outside, the other sits at a table and chats for ages before disappearing from the scene. All around me: visibly annoyed customers. The staff here urgently needs training!

We ate here for the first time today and were completely thrilled. The food impresses with its freshness, regionality, and outstanding flavor. The salad with turkey strips, the Wiener schnitzel, the sausage salad, and the cheese spaetzle were particularly excellent. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We'd definitely be back!

The food was very good. The schnitzel tastes significantly better than in Tegernsee and can even compete with Kaltenbrunn, and it's even cheaper! The Kaiserschmarren was a 10/10! This was also the best I've had in the valley so far. You normally only get it in Austria. The ambiance was very nice. Everything looks new and beautifully renovated. This was our first time here and we will definitely come back, preferring it to other restaurants. The waiter spoke perfect English, which was good for our guests. He was exceptionally polite and professional.

Very friendly hosts. The food was very good. The Viennese veal schnitzel was excellent. The large portion is perfect for large stomachs. The prices are reasonable. If we're in the area again, we'll be happy to go there again.

After we couldn't find a parking space in the town of Tegernsee, we decided to head to the Gasthof Herzog Maximilian, and I have to say, we couldn't have had a better experience. Great food (time: 2:30 p.m.!), very friendly and attentive staff (waiter: Sebastian), and a quiet outdoor seating area! Top-notch and 100% recommended!

Viel schöner könnte ein bayrisches Gasthaus nicht sein. Der Service war aufmerksam und sehr freundlich. Es war nun unser fünfter Besuch dort, heute bewerte ich, denn wir können es nicht fassen, was für eine Diskrepanz zwischen Küche und Ambiente besteht! Jedes Fleischgericht schwimmt in einer dunklen pampigen Sauce, womöglich macht der Koch eine für alle Fleischarten. Gestern hatten wir auch wieder Salat, dieses Mal mit Ziegenkäse. Der Käse war sehr gut angebraten und wohlschmeckend. Aber der Blattsalat war schrecklich lieblos aufs Teller geklatscht, zerdrückt und schwamm in einem viel zu süßen Dressing. Er war nicht essbar. Die äußerst freundliche Bedienung drückte ihr Bedauern aus und hörte sich die Begründung an. Reaktion gab er keine.

We went there for dinner today. Grilled meat and mushrooms with bread dumplings. It was delicious. And especially noteworthy is the extremely friendly, attentive, and courteous service, with excellent service. Congratulations to such employees.

Zum ersten mal hier, und angenehm überrascht nach den zum Teil sehr negativen Bewertungen. Von Sebastian ausgebrochen nett bedient, Schäufele, Schweinsbraten und Schnitzel 1a, es hat uns richtig gut geschmeckt. Und das Ambiente der Wirtschaft ist auch sehr ansprechend, uns hat's gefallen. Wir kommen wieder.

We had a reservation on Saturday evening, and because we arrived early and there were a few people sitting in the beer garden, we sat at one of the free tables. We sat there for 25 minutes without being greeted or served, even though three different employees kept coming out and two of our friends were also served. After this wait, an employee rudely and without greeting informed us that the beer garden was closed and that no service would be provided. How were we supposed to know? Especially since our two friends were served two drinks!?!? Due to the rudeness, we left and went elsewhere. It's a shame.

We were there for lunch today. It was super delicious, very well seasoned and very attractively presented. Even though it was busy, Mother's Day, the entire service staff was super, super friendly. Since it took us longer to eat, we received a small greeting from the kitchen in the form of a delicious lemon sorbet. We definitely weren't there for the last time.

The food and portion are normal. It's pleasant to sit outside, but inside it's so big - similar to a Bräustüberl - that it could be very loud in the evening? The service outside is alone and extremely overwhelmed, so the information that there is a shortage of staff is of no use. Then how about alternatives like self-service? So definitely too long of a wait for the food, even though there wasn't much going on at lunchtime. Not again for me.

I recently stayed at a family run inn and had a great time. The inn is cozy and you can immediately tell that it is run with a lot of love. Toni, who served us, was incredibly friendly and accommodating. He made us feel at home. The food was excellent, typical and fresh. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy good food. Had a lovely Sunday afternoon with a spot in the sun with good food and drink

Very good, newly set up Bavarian restaurant with moderate prices for Lake Tegernsee, small roast pork, two slices of a dumpling with a crust, 11 €, absolutely sufficient, the large portion for 15 €, you can hardly force it, so it was full on Sunday lunchtime. The disadvantage is that it's right on the main street, but you wouldn't notice it inside. You'd always go there again In 2025 the prices have risen from 11 to 13.70 so 25% in 2 years... I would like that too!

We now visit the Gasthof Herzog Maximilian regularly, because here you not only experience an authentic Bavarian ambience, but much more. No matter when you come, you will always be warmly welcomed. The service team always gives you very good advice, can say something about all the dishes and is always friendly and accommodating. The high quality of the food speaks for itself. The dishes are always superbly prepared; the taste of the products is what counts here. If you want to eat high-quality food and experience true taste, this inn is the right place for you. The menu is varied and balanced. The food is excellent and the portions are decent. What should be particularly positively mentioned is the extremely friendly, attentive and fast service. You feel in good hands and very comfortable. The furnishings are also tasteful and rustic. We'd love to come back!

Zwei Salate eine Suppe bestellt und das Brot kostet am Ende extra wir haben uns schon sehr gewundert für drei Scheiben Brot Geld zu verlangen was normalerweise bei allen anderen Wirtschaften Standard ist wenn ich eine Suppe bestelle oder einen Salat ist normalerweise immer Brot dabei zumal es sogar nicht mal ausreichend war

The food and ambience may be appealing, but what this restaurant defines as “service” is clearly not! Yesterday, Saturday, after a long walk, we arrived hungry and thirsty at the almost completely full restaurant and were initially ignored by the staff serving there. It wasn't until I picked up two menus myself that her colleague brought our attention to the waitress, so she asked us in a tone that was more reprimanding than friendly if she could help us. I said we wanted to eat something and would that be possible. She replied: “No, the kitchen is already closed!” That was at 8:40pm on Saturday! Not a word of explanation or apology. At the entrance it is advertised as “open continuously from Monday to Sunday”….

Service was good, great ambience. We expected more from the food. The taste is rather average. Schnitzel had little taste, beef loin was no loin.

Incredibly bad food. The schnitzel and fries were soaked in fat, the fish was not edible and the risotto looked like it had been eaten before. We'll never eat there again. It's a shame, because the location is quite cozy.

We discovered this inn by chance while we were passing through and spontaneously made a stop. We were very positively surprised by what the inside of the inn has to offer. A very nicely decorated, Bavarian modern ambience. Very welcoming. The service was very nice and attentive. The food was particularly tasty and the portion was large. Particularly worth mentioning is the visible, freshly tapped barrel of beer, a feast for the eyes 😃 All in all a highly recommended inn. Next time in Tegernsee you no longer need to go to the overcrowded, unfriendly Bräustüberl.

We eat at Herzog Maximilian every time we vacation in the area. Only this time we were very disappointed! Unfortunately the food was a bit overpriced for the size and taste. The biggest drawback was the “child-friendliness”. Our little daughter made some “loud” noises for a maximum of 5 minutes and we were immediately warned by the waitress. There's a family of 3 later!!!! Children came to the next table. The waitresses became increasingly unfriendly in their manner and facial expressions. We didn't even get a goodbye. I think they were happy when we left. Unfortunately this was the last time.

There were 13 people there with the family at Christmas, reserved in advance, unfortunately the tables were far apart, we moved them together ourselves, the food was okay, except for the plastic pieces in the salad, and the schnitzel was more panada than meat, some common ones Dishes were out, in my opinion it shouldn't be at 5:30 p.m. especially when you know the restaurant is fully booked, the waiter was a bit strange with certain statements, no, we won't eat there anymore, sorry

Wir waren heute am 10.11.24 ca. 14.30 am Biergarten vor der Tafel „bitte hier warten „. Gestanden. Es hat ca. 10 min. Gedauert bis wir total unhöflich angeredet wurden um uns zu sagen: das dauert mind. 15 min. Wir haben das abgenickt , war auch kein Problem . Es wurden 3 Tische frei und nicht freigegeben , da sie nicht abgeräumt wurden . Das essen war kalt und hat nicht wirklich geschmeckt . Der Preis war dafür sehr hoch . Leider hatten wir das Empfinden als Gast nicht willkommen zu sein . Schade

We stopped here after a hike at Tegernsee. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, the toilets are clean and the service is top. Our waiter greeted us very friendly and was always attentive. The food was absolutely great, we wanted to lick the plates clean. The Kaiserschmarren was our highlight and also filled the three of us. We can recommend the restaurant to anyone passing through Gmund! For all drivers: the “Volksfestplatz” car park is only 2-3 minutes away and offers electric drivers two quick chargers and two AC columns.
