Käfer Bistro in Oberding

The food is nothing special, but it is also not bad. Because of the airport prices the regular schnitzel was 32 euros which is quite expensive for a mid schnitzel. Additionally, the pretzels had too much salt on them. The service is good and the staff are friendly and cheerful. The atmosphere is nothing special, but that’s because it’s the airport.

I had an extremely strange experience in this place. Thursday 18th, I arrived around 8.30am for Breakfast. A couple of tables with people already eating and having coffee, but mostly empty. Following the sign at the entrance ("sit yourself") I went in to sit. Saw the waiters and said good morning, and received no answer. They saw me seating and waiting, yet they just kept on talking among themselves. After more than 5 minutes, another man comes in and he is given a menu within a minute, and when I try calling the waiter I am ignored again. I just got up and left. Absolutely perplexing given that they saw me and I tried to get their attention.

The food was nothing special; you're paying more for the name. The service was cold and rather annoyed by our presence. The ambiance could be much more inviting. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

A true Bavarian experience inside the airport. We had great beaf Tartare, pork with excellent crispy crackling, good Sauerkraut, good salad with nice dressing, a really nice experience during a four-hour wait in Munich Airport. Excellent, friendly, nicely witty service, food arrived quickly, tho we were offered breaks between courses if we wanted. Such a nice meal!

We had a great brunch here while waiting for our connection. The ambiance is perfect you don't feel you are in an airport terminal & Alex Oprea, our waiter, helped us a lot as we were undecided what to choose from the menu.

RRAKULLI was welcoming, really friendly and helpful. We ordered eggs which included Bacon. We asked to remove the bacon as we are Muslims and don't eat that. He quickly suggests to replace with salmon. He is kind, understanding and pleasant. Meal was amazing and portions size was pretty big. Goodbye Munich. Off to Tuscany.

Regret not reading the reviews before we queued. On September 18th we stood for 20 minutes waiting for someone to make the effort to offer us a table. Instead the staff walked around talking to each other despite 7-8 people waiting and a lot of empty tables. Finally we left. So incredibly bad.

I use this place regularly and the service is always fast and pleasant however busy. Not the cheapest place in the airport, but definitely the best food.

Excellent service and a constantly smiling Neghut made the Beetle experience perfect once again!

Waiters need to learn how to talk to and interact with customers. Arguing is completely unacceptable.

I was waiting for 20 minutes in front of the restaurant to be seated. When it was my turn, they said there is no free table (although there were at least 7 or 8) and wouldnt take me in. It was 19:30 Thursday! Disgraceful!!

It's actually quite nicely done for an airport bistro, and the prices are as expected. Unfortunately, the staff were unfriendly and didn't allow us to play cards at the table ("This is a restaurant!"). I wouldn't do that in a Michelin-starred restaurant either, but only in a pub, waiting for my connecting train, keeping quiet and not taking anyone else's seat? I couldn't understand that, and the tone wasn't right either.

Delicious food and service. Our server Alexandru went above and beyond with making sure we had a great meal. Was very open to help us with any changes we wanted to our meal and it came out fantastic!

Best place to forget about your lost flight. Good food, good beer, and Alexandru is doing an excellent job. Highly recommend!

Food was decent but service is lacking. The venue was busy when I arrived. My family and I noticed that there was not enough staff to manage the amount of customers. We were seated by someone who looked like the manager. When we were ready to order, we tried to get a nearby staff's attention but he looked at us and shook his head and yelled "nein!". We thought maybe he was not working in our section and we should have waited for a different staff member. But 10 minutes later he came to our table to take our order anyway. He seemed quite mad when taking our order. Food came quickly and we enjoyed it. But it was very clear that the staff were overwhelmed by the amount of customers and it negatively impacted their service

Updated on the 26th of August. I revisited the restaurant after my initial visit in July, and first of all, the issue with the service I reported earlier has been resolved — a big plus. I arrived at 10:55 and wanted to order the English breakfast, but the waiter who took my order around 11:02 told me it was already unavailable. I know we’re in Germany, but a two-minute cutoff feels a bit too strict. In any case, I decided to order the same dish I had in July: bratwurst with sauerkraut and potato purée. Last time, it was very good, but this time everything was swimming in sauerkraut juice, and the sauerkraut itself had a strange sweetish taste. I’ll be back in October. Let’s see how things improve by then.

We were on our way to Portugal and, of course, in a good mood. Our stop at the "Käfer Bistro" lifted our spirits even further thanks to our wonderful and humorous waitress, Carmela. She was professional and charming. That's always the way to start a vacation. Thank you!

The Käfer Restaurant at Munich Airport offers a pleasant atmosphere for a layover. The food is fresh and high-quality, with a nice selection of Bavarian and international dishes. The presentation of the dishes and the friendliness of the staff are particularly noteworthy. The prices are slightly above average, but that's to be expected at an airport. During busy times, service can occasionally take a little longer, but you'll still feel well looked after. Overall, a recommended place to relax and enjoy a meal before your flight.

I had food at this restaurant and the dinner and desert was amazing , very tasty , good portion, and amazing service. I had such a good service by Oprea. He is such a good person so kind and serviceminded. I recommend anyone visiting munchen this restaurant, it’s amazing. I travel alot recently and this is the best food I had in an airport. 10/10. Also the food was quick, so here i felt very relaxed.

Very bad service. The waiter scolded us because we put the glasses on the table we wanted on the other table (also dirty). It's not our job to clean tables; we wanted to sit down. They also served people who arrived after us. We got tired of waiting and left without ordering anything. Very bad service. Overpriced. A very bad place. I'll never go back. I know it doesn't make a difference because they didn't even serve me.

A good place to have a beer at Munich Airport in the Lufthansa Terminal.

The waiter working there was not nice. He made rude and sarcastic comments about us leaving the restaurant, even though we had ordered drinks and were thinking about ordering food. He talked back to the other waiters about us and discussed when they could throw us out. He kept hinting that we had to order food, with rude looks. The whole experience made the atmosphere feel bad, as the service was so terrible. We ended up leaving before we could order food.

Server took 15 minutes just to bring me the menu, then proceeded to ignore me and prioritize other tables of people that came after me.

A visit to Käfer at Terminal 2 in Munich is part of our vacation ritual. A wheat beer, a glass of sparkling wine, and fries...always a pleasure. Admittedly, it's expensive, but that's just how it is at airports...you can't change it.

Munich Airport Terminal 2, Bistro/Restaurant: - Waited 5-10 minutes to be assigned a seat. The waiters actively ignored me even though there were seats available. I then left the waiting position to see if the following guests were having the same experience. There weren't any! I got back in line. Then I was assigned a seat, but with a commanding comment from the waiter telling me to look more enthusiastic (I didn't comment further and took a seat). Ordered a shandy and a schnitzel. The shandy had a stale taste. When I asked for a new one, the same waiter replied that it couldn't possibly be stale and moved on to the next table. A few minutes later, I still received a new shandy without comment. Then the schnitzel was served with the comment (from the same waiter) that I could also say thank you. I replied that he wasn't my teacher/educator and that I was a guest there. He then replied (now serving the neighboring table) that in this case, it seemed he had to be. He shook his head and made the sign of the cross(!). His tone was abusive and aggressive. I then asked for the bill and left. After two bites of schnitzel and a full spare radler, of course, everything was charged. My opinion: disrespectful, unprofessional, malicious, gutter-level. I've never experienced anything like it. Apparently, at Käfer, they divide people's worth according to taste. I was the lower class. PS: Schnitzel with tendons

Pros: - Plenty of seating - Close to the gates - The food was very good - The atmosphere is quite pleasant Cons: - The service was pretty bad - You have to wait to be seated, but the waiter almost never comes to seat you - It feels like waiting forever for everything We had breakfast here because we had a two-hour layover in Munich. A sign outside the restaurant says you have to wait to be seated, so that's fine. We were quite lucky and waited about five minutes. It wasn't busy, many tables were empty, but the waiter in charge of the front area had virtually no interest in seating guests. While we were sitting at our tables, over ten people left because the waiter simply didn't come to seat them. In general, the waiter's service took some getting used to; it was very brief, unfriendly, and never asked questions. There was no salt with the eggs, and there was nothing on the table either. We waited a long time to pay, and while we were paying, he walked away. The Munich breakfast was very good, and the eggs and bacon were also delicious. The food is highly recommended, but the service was very poor. The price is okay for an airport.

Food is good but the service was super slow which is not tolerable for an airport venue.

First the waiter doesn't understand that we want eggs, sausages and bacon, so we get eggs and bacon. Fair enough. Misunderstandings happen. Then sausages are ordered immediately, here you expect it to be quick, but no. The cup overflowed when paying when he insisted on a tip, and I said I won't give that, he hasn't provided any service so he has to live with his salary He said they can't complete a transaction without a tip, that must be their problem I said

Expensive meal in small quantities.

Very expensive (airport prices, of course), but the service is truly excellent, friendly, and courteous, with a good mood. The atmosphere is very pleasant.

It has a big name/reputation as various other Munich brands are represented at the airport. Service is friendly and efficient. Ambiance is pleasant and classy. Unfortunately, the cappuccino was not made by a barista but with a full auto machine. This resulted in poor foam quality (no proper micro foam) not in line with the brand appeal. It may be a result of the struggle to get qualified staff or just prioritising efficiency over quality since it's "only" an airport.

A bit pricy, but really good food. Try the potato soup. Yum!

The soup was delicious! The price, €12.50, was OK, and the service was great! It would be better if the soup cost €9. That's just my feeling.
