My favorite place for bamberger Bier Haxe

If someone has enjoyed a fresh Schäufele with Franconian dumpling at least once in their life, they will leave the restaurant very disappointed. I emphasize “fresh” and not heated in the microwave. The tourists, who probably make up a very high percentage of guests here, probably cannot judge the quality.

The Kachelofen is a super cozy little Franconian restaurant in the middle of the old town. Despite the huge rush, the service is very friendly and nice, takes the time to have a personal word and tries everything to make you feel comfortable here. Franconian hospitality reigns here and this also means that people come together so that a wide variety of people from all over sit together at the table and enjoy Franconian delicacies. The Schäuferla here is super juicy, has a great crust and tastes wonderful. Plus real potato dumplings, Franconian savoy cabbage and a smoked beer. What more could you want? We came to eat two days in a row and each time we were thrilled and completely satisfied. If you want to complain about something, then at most it's that, as a stranger, you don't know. that you only get 1.5 hours to eat and the table is then reassigned. We'd love to come back. Thank you.

Went there a couple of days ago on a business dinner. First of all the service was at any time over the full evening amazing. We were around 30 people. Nevertheless the service was always quick and super friendly. The restaurant has a nice interior and a super comfortable atmosphere. Oh yes and the food of course was also very nice. Mainly local specialities. All very delicious. And of cause also local delicious beers. If u’re in Bamberg u have to go there

Small, cozy, informal Franconian restaurant. There were some international guests sitting around us. The two of us came without a reservation and were allowed to sit at a table with other guests at the instruction of the friendly waiter. Food and service very tasty. Gladly again at any time.

The food was very tasty. And the portions were gigantic. We had the crusty roast and the sauerbraten. Both were some of the best German dishes I had ever tasted. The service was also very friendly.

Cozy restaurant, we got a table around 7pm without any problem during the week. Bamberg platter for 2 people was plentiful (we didn't finish everything) and very tasty! Service was super nice, lovingly designed, cozy atmosphere!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A perfect Schäuferla experience! I recently ate here and absolutely loved it! The Schäuferla was simply fantastic – crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and incredibly tasty. There was also a tasty beer that went perfectly with it. A delight for the palate! The service was also top: friendly, attentive and with a pleasant pinch of Franconian warmth. You felt completely comfortable. A place I can recommend to anyone who appreciates good food and a cozy atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

Very old and authentic Franconian restaurant in the middle of Bamberg. The furnishings and size of the place are very special, as is the smoked beer. If you are in Bamberg you should try to get a table here. We were totally thrilled and will stop by when we are in Bamberg again.

One meal that was really good was the sauerbraten. The Franconian schäufele was dry. The grill plate according to the house style, well 2 small steaks, 1 Nuremberg sausage (why not 3) and 1 limp belly slice. The service was nice and the boss was simply cheeky. You could hear guests complaining several times with higher numbers than he did about why they didn't call earlier when fewer people were coming. As if that's a problem at a place where walk-in customers come every 2 minutes and they are then placed because there are 2 missing and there are 3 missing and everyone else only gets told from 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. The restaurant was full so you don't have to shout at your customers.

My sauerbraten was good, but the Schäuferla were very dry and tough. The boss is extremely unfriendly. We had reserved and only had 1.5 hours until the next guests arrived. This is probably the case at Christmas time. We have reserved for 13 people. Unfortunately, a family of 3 people became ill at short notice. We only found out about it 20 minutes before the meeting point. The boss didn't like that. We then had to sit at a smaller table with all our drinks so that it had 3 more seats. Then we had to eat under time pressure and were quickly told that the next guests were coming. It was just one mass dispatch. Outside the boss insulted us that it was impossible that we didn't cancel when three people were sick so that he could plan better. And we knew from the start that we only had 1.5 hours. But we didn't realize that your plate would almost be taken away during the meal so that the next guests could come.

Have been to the tiled stove for the umpteenth time - the food is really amazing, everything was always top quality, super tasty and really incredibly quick at the table! The rustic atmosphere is great and also praise to the friendly staff! The innkeeper always has a quick saying up his sleeve - heartfelt recommendation, all thumbs up!

The shoveling was a dream and the brawn was great

Some of the food is oversalted, the service asks if everything is ok, but just doesn't listen and moves on. Then the waiter asked us if he should pack it🤣

Eating out here, or just having a quick drink, feels like being with friends. Super nice and friendly staff. Sebastian made the stay very entertaining. The service was excellent. We were looking for a rustic Franconian restaurant with traditional cuisine and delicious beer and were thrilled 🤩 very cozy atmosphere, friendly service, 😍rustic food, simple and no frills 🍗 and many tasty types of beer. 🍻In short. Highly recommended! Unfortunately the tiled stove 🔥 is no longer in operation. That's why you get table fireworks 🚀 if you order 10 short ones 😊

I can't understand how this restaurant can survive. It's only possible because Bamberg has a lot of tourists. If one of four guests doesn't want to eat, everyone has to leave the restaurant. So ridiculous and really unfriendly. It's a shame for this beautiful city of Bamberg to have such restaurant owners. Answer after answer. But don't own it in 1979 Answer Just laughable. Why were we allowed to order something to drink and how it was... When the food was over we had to leave. Don't make up stories.

Friends of Franconian food and Franconian hospitality will definitely find what they are looking for here. The meat dishes were all hearty and, as expected, tasty. Our youngest also really enjoyed the dumpling with sauce. The pasta with mushrooms wasn't convincing. I would not recommend the restaurant to vegetarians because it is simply not designed or designed for that. But everyone who prefers Franconian dishes with meat can rely on the tiled stove.

Restaurant of Frankish cuisine with a pleasant nostalgic atmosphere. Cute antiques, checkered tablecloths and a solid menu. I won’t say anything about the food - the restaurant is popular with tourists, and by 12 noon all the seats in the hall were taken. But the beer is quite good.

A small, cozy restaurant is a bit reminiscent of a doll's house. We were greeted in a very friendly manner, given excellent advice and served quickly. (Thanks Lilli!) We had a total of 3 different dishes, one more delicious than the other, we will definitely come back the next time we visit Bamberg! Reservation recommended.

We had a very nice evening in the Kachelofen Restaurant in the old town of Bamberg. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made the visit perfect. We tried the “Wiener-Style” schnitzel with fries and salad as well as the house-style grill plate with mixed salad – both were excellent! Fresh, tasty and well prepared. We'll definitely be back!

We were very late for dinner and despite the restaurant being full, we were warmly welcomed and offered a seat right at the counter. Very tasty food and a great atmosphere throughout the restaurant - even though the boss wasn't there himself.

Wir (Familie 4 Personen, davon 2 Kinder) waren zu Gast in Bamberg und wollten zum Mittag typisch fränkisch Essen. Wir wurden in einen ca. 2,5 x 2,5 m kleinen Raum geleitet. Kaum saßen wir, wurden immer wieder Gästegruppen (3-4 Personen) in den kleinen Raum geleitet, um sich auch noch in das Räumchen zu zwängen. Einige winkten ab und gingen, weil es ihnen auf Anhieb zu eng war. Andere baten wir um Verständnis, dass wir nicht mit völlig fremden Menschen auf engstem Raum Schulter an Schulter essen möchten. Wir wurden dann gebeten, möglichst schnell zu essen und dann auch abkassiert. Unsere Getränke durften wir noch schnell austrinken, sollten dann aber gehen. Der Inhaber selbst hat uns dann in einem völlig unangebrachten und unhöflichen Ton erklärt, dass er wegen uns weniger Umsatz habe machen können. Ganz ehrlich, ein Blick ins Gesetz (oder hier: in die Gaststättenerlaubnis) erleichtert die Rechtsfindung! Zum Glück gibt es in Deutschland Regelungen zum Platzbedarf in Gasträumen, die hier schwerlich gewahrt sein dürften. Und gerade dann schimpft man nicht lautstark seine Gäste an! So etwas Unangebrachtes und Unhöfliches haben wir noch nicht erlebt! Gastfreundschaft sieht anders aus. Schade, Bamberg!

A very cozy and traditional inn with a typical ambience and very attentive and polite staff, even when the place is packed to capacity! Unfortunately, once you've consumed your drinks, you're asked to quickly learn how to drink them to make room for new paying guests. We were seated at an 8-person table that felt like it could only fit 5 people, and that other people could join us, no one had anything against sitting there, but if the distance to my table neighbors wasn't even 30cm, I would be happy to have one choose myself, and don't want to have strangers placed in front of me, sorry, but that raises the suspicion that the place is a capitalist tourist trap!

Überaus Sympathisch. Dem Wirt sitzt der Schalk im Nacken. Essen war Ausgezeichnet. Alles macht einen sauberen Eindruck. Hier wird Gastronomie groß geschrieben und gelebt. Vorbildlich 😄👍

Located in a quiet corner, the tiled stove is a good restaurant with very friendly service and acceptable portion sizes.

We were planning a tour through Germany. We also got stuck in Bamberg. Have already googled this place and were not disappointed. Absolutely nice service, very accommodating. I ate a Schäuferla, excellently prepared. Changing the supplements wasn't a problem either. My wife ate herring the housewife style and was also very enthusiastic about the taste. We were lucky with the last table, reservations are also recommended during the week. Gladly again

Tisch per Mail resaviert, wir (10 Personen) wußten das wir nur 1.5 Stunden Zeit hatten, mußten 3 Minuten auf Tisch warten, wurden vom Chef bedient von Bestellung aufgeben bis Getränke und Essen bringen vergingen keine 15 Minuten, essen war sehr lecker und der Service super toll. Wir fühlten uns wohl und hatte viel Spass und haben viel gelacht am meisten mit dem Chef trotz vollem Haus. 5 von uns arbeiten in der Gastronomie und wir wissen das sowas nicht immer möglich ist und haben es sehr geschätzt so freundlich und vorallem lustig bedient und unterhalten zu werden. We spontaneously went here for lunch with a larger group and immediately got a good spot in the outdoor area. The service was good and friendly, food and drinks came quite quickly. Unfortunately the food is not good. My food was quite tasteless and bland. I think this is partly a tourist trap... What a shame.

We were in the tiled stove today and completely satisfied! We were greeted very friendly and even though it was busy, we were able to get a comfortable seat at a communal table. The service was attentive and really nice! The food was excellent, sufficient and priced perfectly 😊 If we come back to Bamberg, we will definitely stop at the tiled stove again!

Many thanks to the boss and the young man behind the counter (hopefully he was able to finish his schnitzel and fries by 00:00 ;) ). The two of us were given a nice place at the counter, we were able to enjoy the funny sayings between the two of us, the rustic pub and the delicious meatloaf. We would also give it 6*! It's a shame that you're 350km away - but we'll be back next time!

Very cozy there. Typically Franconian, hearty food and beer. Nobody goes hungry or thirsty. When I was there, the most capable politician in Germany was sitting at the next table. Markus Söder. He obviously enjoyed it very much. He was well camouflaged, but I recognized him immediately. His bodyguards, who were really wide awake and doing a great job, also noticed this. There are signs everywhere that point out that you have to eat and not just drink. Certainly because of bad experiences. We just wanted something to eat and drink. Only we were handed the cards and left without asking about the drinks. Several times people served and billed people around us without even addressing us. After 5 minutes we went to the neighboring beer garden.

Last night I had dinner with friends at the Kachelofen in Bamberg and, as always, it was a poem. If you are looking for delicious Franconian food, then you have come to the right place! From the moment I entered the dining room, I was greeted by a cozy atmosphere. The furnishings have that traditional Franconian charm that immediately seems inviting. The waitresses were super friendly and took care of us right away - you just feel welcome! Now about the food: I tried crusty roast and it was simply heavenly! Whether it's nice and crispy and juicy on the inside. There was also a salad instead of sauerkraut - so reordering is no problem. And the portions? Really generous – no stomach will go hungry! For dessert, of course, I had to try the famous Bamberg Sieben Hügel schnapps. This was also quickly served in the Franconian style. So if you're in Bamberg and fancy authentic Franconian food, stop by the tiled stove. You won't regret it!

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the service. Although only one table was occupied inside, the waitress decided to seat us right at that same table where two girls were already sitting. This was quite uncomfortable given that there were many other free tables, which led us to decide to leave. We definitely expected better treatment and attention to guests.

It was a very hot day, and while there were not enough seats, some elderly women in the neighborhood made room for us while we were eating, so we were able to eat together. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very friendly and nice. It was located in the center of the tourist area, so it was great to have a meal or a cup of tea and explore the surrounding tourist attractions.

The Resturant Kachelofen has a strange concept for me: you are only allowed to sit down if you want to order something to eat. The only thing that's annoying is when groups of 6 or more people constantly sit around you, but then they have to leave. Happened to me about 10 times in 45 minutes. The next one was about 40!! FLIES which I had to keep away from my food. That's hardly possible if you have to eat with a knife and fork. The waitress told me that the problem was known, and I think there are now aids that you can set up. So I won't be going there again in the summer.
