The food and drinks here are delicious. The roast pork with dumplings and sauerkraut was excellent, and the glass of Schlenkerla smoked beer was a pleasure to drink. The two waiters are relaxed, professional, and always friendly with a quick joke, despite the busyness. This is well received. The atmosphere is lively, and you're amazed at how many motorized vehicles seem to fall from the sky. Everything just sort of muddles along.

Franconian cuisine, simply a must in Bamberg.

Picked this place on the spot as everyone’s hungry from walking around the town…it looked very touristy but we were pleasantly surprised by the food, presentation, price and service! The servings were massive. This is easily one of the best meals we remembered during our 10 day road trip!

Kachelofen is highly recommended for those seeking an authentic Franconian dining experience. Whether it’s the quality of the food, the traditional ambiance or the friendly service, the restaurant offers a combination that appeals to a variety of palates and types of visitors. We had a Radler and other beers on the menu and they were all delicious.

"Nur" eine Zwei. Gut. Wir waren zu viert, haben 4 Essen bestellt, hatten keinen Tisch reserviert. Trotzdem konnten wir draußen an den herrlichen Bierbänken mit Aussicht zusammen sitzen. Was als erstes auffällt, ist der super schnelle und freundliche Service, der einem sofort das Gefühl gibt, Teil einer Familie zu sein (führt zur Aufwertung). Ich glaube, das Service ist wirklich was besonderes, beim Kachelofen. Das zweite, was auffällt, ist die extrem volle Karte mit wirklich sehr vielen Gerichten zur Auswahl. 2x haben wir Schäufele bestellt, DAS Fränkische Essen. Es war gut: Geschmacklich ausgezeichnet aromatisch (genau für das Aroma liebe ich Schäufele!), halt bei Serienfertigung (wie hier) durch die lange Garzeit mit ein wenig tockenen Seiten (eine der Schwierigkeiten, mit denen man bei Schäufele kämpft), weiter innen dann ganz saftig und zerfallend (so sollen sie sein!), mit nur wenigen minimal zähen Regionen (schwer, alles so mürbe zu bekommen). Die Schwarte war zwar toll mürbe-kross, aber für meinen Geschmack etwas zu dunkel und herb. Draußen auf dem Land sind Schäufele immer etwas besonderes und nur an speziellen Tagen gegen Vorbestellung zu haben. Da wird natürlich alles in deren Perfektionierung reingesteckt. Ein wunderbarer, großer, nach frischer Kartoffel schmeckender Seidenknödel kam dazu, mit einer unauffälligen aber schön nach Braten schmeckenden Soße. Wie in Oberfranken üblich, kommt das Schäufele mit Wirsing. Der hier war zwar geschmacklich sehr gut, ich hätt ihn aber lieber gröber gehackt gehabt, mit etwas Stückchen. Der war aber einfach püriert. Weiß nicht, ob das eine Bamberger Spezialität ist. Oder was man auch immer als Beilage essen möchte, man kann fragen und bekommt wohl alles, was man wünscht! War beim zweiten Schäufele der Fall: Hochgradig individualisiert, das ist nicht selbstverständlich! Einen Kinderteller hatten wir, mit Pommes. Ganz leckere Pommes und für eine Kinderportion reichlich, das Hühnchen war auch sehr lecker. Das wäre eine Kinder-Eins-Plus gewesen. Und dann hatte unser vierter Gast das mit den Fränkischen Bratwürsten nicht kapiert, und hat unbedingt Nürnberger haben wollen (in dieser Region ein Sakrileg!). Die waren grausig (führt zur Abwertung), latschert und ausschließlich nach Fett und Majoran schmeckend. Bitte in Bamberg immer Fränkische Bratwürste bestellen! Nie Nürnberger Bratwürste essen wollen! Die sahen bei den Nachbarn auch sehr viel besser aus, war ein ganz anderes Brät. Ach ja, und das Bier: Die hatten das neue Fässla Helle Bier (Helles gibt es von Fässla noch nicht so lange). Also das ist ein echter Genuss! Eins der besten! Sehr hell, nicht so malzig, eher trocken, und dann extrem duftig-hopfig mit ganz komplexer Note! Ein Chapagner unter Bieren! Mache ich wieder! Empfehlung: Nicht mit dem Auto anfahren, das ist in Bamberg eh nicht zu empfehlen. Lieber auf Schusters Rappen ein Bier mehr genießen! Unsere Nachbarn meinten auch: Der dunkle Schnaps/Likör sei himmlisch gewesen. Okee... Noch ein Grund. Der Vollständigkeit halber: Vegetarisch hätte es auch was gegeben, was sogar Fränkisch gewesen wäre. Wenn ich mich recht erinnere, 2 Gerichte mindestens. Sah bei den Nachbarn wirklich gut aus (Gemüsestrudel)! Preis-Leistung ist halt etwas vom Touristenmagnet Bamberg belastet: Es ist relativ teuer. Deswegen insgesamt: Gut. Durch die Nürnberger hatte ich zwischendurch eine Anwandlung von: 3 Sterne, befriedigend... Für "sehr gut" müsste das Service so bleiben, wie es ist, das Bier auch, aber die Qualität des Essens entweder nach oben etwas nachgeschärft werden, oder die Preise nach unten korrigiert. Was bei Qualität manchmal hilft, ist, weniger verschiedenes anzubieten, und dafür mehr Liebe da hineinzustecken (z.B. einfach die Nürnberger garnicht erst anbieten). Legt man das Ambiente mit zu dem Zeitpunkt laufendem Flohmarkt, Sonnenschein (eher Spätnachmittag denn Abend, Kinder halt), wandelnden Passanten und schattigen Bierbank-Plätzen noch in die Waagschale, ist das hier eine klare Empfehlung.

The first thing you notice: the extremely friendly and lightning-fast service. Second thing you notice: Sitting outside on beer benches, getting to know nice neighbors and enjoying the view of the market: Priceless, clear recommendation. Third noticeable thing: The really extensive map. What a choice! Schäufele were good (grade: 2), children's plates with fries were even very good. You shouldn't order Nuremberg bratwursts, that's a sacrilege in Bamberg. They were really messy and only tasted like paper with marjoram. The Franconian ones looked much better and are probably much better (guaranteed to be a completely different meat). But it wasn't clear to our family member when ordering. The Fässla beer is outstanding! It's best not to drive there... Price/performance: Due to the tourist prices in Bamberg, it's on the more expensive side. Price/performance suffers.

When I asked for a short-term reservation by phone, the employee kindly informed me that if the number of people was more than 10 people, a reservation should be sent by email to the boss. I sent this immediately and unfortunately have not received any response to date. It would be nice if you at least got an announcement if it was too short a time to be able to look for alternatives in time.

Cozy, rustic inn centrally located in the old town. You get classic Franconian tavern cuisine - very tasty! I was there with a few friends at the beginning of April for the start of the season. You can sit outside when the weather is good. Despite the busy times and some clearly "tipsy" guests, the staff is professional, quick and friendly - and even has time for a joke or two. 5 stars!

Good atmosphere which gets more and more fun the later it gets. Food is home cooking: it tastes like grandma's, just right. Staff really funny, cool. Bonus: we were hungry late (9:30 p.m.) and were able to order by phone before the kitchen closed. When we arrived it was already on the table. That is trust.

Delicious fresh food at a reasonable price. The restaurant is very centrally located and right in the old town. The service is friendly and really attentive. The outside area is very cozy, everything inside is a bit old, but it also has its own charm.

Good and fast service. Unfortunately completely overpriced: mini portions and overpriced beer prices. 4.90 for almost all Seidla and that in DER BIERSTADT. Sorry guys, paying almost 15 euros for a mini portion of plucked meat isn't possible at all. Plus the bratwursts with sauerkraut - too expensive for the quantity!! Sorry, where is this supposed to lead with the price explosions???

Franconian hospitality to make you feel good! Friendly, attentive service, extensive menu with regional dishes, delicious food, served quickly - and thanks to the great weather we were able to eat outside.

The tiled stove is already located at a tourist hotspot. Nevertheless, the food and service were good. This is not a given. I can recommend it.

Deutschland ist eine Service Wüste. Drinnen durfte man nicht essen, weil das Restaurant voll sei. Draußen gab es zwar Decken, aber die waren voller Hundehaare. „Die Decken sind alle so.“ Ok, das hatten wir nicht etwa. „Wir haben nur das was auf der Karte steht.“ Ach so - interessant. Das Rauchbier und das Essen waren lecker, aber das Komplettpaket war allenfalls durchwachsen.

Wir haben im Rahmen eines Vereinsausflugs zu Mittag gegessen. Alle in der Gruppe waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Essen. Preis/Leistung stimmt absolut. Obwohl es sehr voll und damit stressig für das Personal war, waren alle Servicekräfte freundlich und geduldig, sogar für kleine Späßchen war noch Zeit. Die Bedienungen waren sehr flink, das Essen kam schnell und schmeckte! Herzlichen Dank an das Team des Kachelofens. Beim nächsten Besuch in Bamberg sehen wir uns bestimmt wieder.

The “Kachelofen” was very well attended and there was a lot of activity. Nevertheless, we were served in a friendly and courteous manner, the food was good and the portions were generous. We will definitely come back again.

We (2 people) were asked twice to sit at the table with one of their guests. 1x ok we have understood. It's logical that the guests don't wait until we're full and satisfied. So they have gone their way. We were then asked to sit at the table again with other guests. Well, the rest was repeated. It was a bit like the Muppet Show 😀. This wouldn't be so crazy if we had been forgotten afterwards. Whatever, swim over it. Unfortunately the knuckle was very tough and very dry. It would be nice if there were toothpicks on the table. Don't drive up!!!

First time trying Schäuferle. It was delicious 😋 with savoy cabbage. The restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel, and my father had been there years ago.

A nice little restaurant with down-to-earth Franconian cuisine... Thank God we were there at 12:00 and were able to choose a place because after 12:30 it got more and more crowded... My farmer's pancake with fried potatoes was a culinary delight and my wife's schnitzel was also good... The prices are a bit higher, but that's something to be expected in the old town... Service was super friendly and quick...

A highly recommended restaurant in the middle of Bamberg. The innkeepers were very friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. We ate the various dishes in a larger group and everything was incredibly tasty. We would come back immediately. In einem wunderschönen, historischem Ambiente haben wir auf Empfehlung das Abendessen bestellt. Die Nürnberger Würstchen mit Kraut und Bratkartoffeln - teils knackig bis roh - schmeckten normal und es gab süssen Senf auf Nachfrage. Das 2. Essen Frankenpfanne mit Leberwurst, Leberknödel - schmeckte gut - aber der Krustenbraten -zäh und hart - ging zurück. Die Bratkartoffeln waren auch teils roh . Das helle Bier schmeckte süffig . Ein freundlicher Service war vor Ort. ...weniger zu empfehlen... ..vielleicht auch nur ein schlechter Tag.

My favorite place for bamberger Bier Haxe

If someone has enjoyed a fresh Schäufele with Franconian dumpling at least once in their life, they will leave the restaurant very disappointed. I emphasize “fresh” and not heated in the microwave. The tourists, who probably make up a very high percentage of guests here, probably cannot judge the quality.

The Kachelofen is a super cozy little Franconian restaurant in the middle of the old town. Despite the huge rush, the service is very friendly and nice, takes the time to have a personal word and tries everything to make you feel comfortable here. Franconian hospitality reigns here and this also means that people come together so that a wide variety of people from all over sit together at the table and enjoy Franconian delicacies. The Schäuferla here is super juicy, has a great crust and tastes wonderful. Plus real potato dumplings, Franconian savoy cabbage and a smoked beer. What more could you want? We came to eat two days in a row and each time we were thrilled and completely satisfied. If you want to complain about something, then at most it's that, as a stranger, you don't know. that you only get 1.5 hours to eat and the table is then reassigned. We'd love to come back. Went there a couple of days ago on a business dinner. First of all the service was at any time over the full evening amazing. We were around 30 people. Nevertheless the service was always quick and super friendly. The restaurant has a nice interior and a super comfortable atmosphere. Oh yes and the food of course was also very nice. Mainly local specialities. All very delicious. And of cause also local delicious beers. If u’re in Bamberg u have to go there

The food was very tasty. And the portions were gigantic. We had the crusty roast and the sauerbraten. Both were some of the best German dishes I had ever tasted. The service was also very friendly.

Cozy restaurant, we got a table around 7pm without any problem during the week. Bamberg platter for 2 people was plentiful (we didn't finish everything) and very tasty! Service was super nice, lovingly designed, cozy atmosphere!

Very old and authentic Franconian restaurant in the middle of Bamberg. The furnishings and size of the place are very special, as is the smoked beer. If you are in Bamberg you should try to get a table here. We were totally thrilled and will stop by when we are in Bamberg again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A perfect Schäuferla experience! I recently ate here and absolutely loved it! The Schäuferla was simply fantastic – crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and incredibly tasty. There was also a tasty beer that went perfectly with it. A delight for the palate! The service was also top: friendly, attentive and with a pleasant pinch of Franconian warmth. You felt completely comfortable. A place I can recommend to anyone who appreciates good food and a cozy atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

Wollten Essen. Bedienung war bemüht einen Platz zu bekommen. Chef hat uns ignoriert und andere vorgezogen. Nie mehr. Werden es an Freunde und Bekannte nicht weiter Empfehlen.

One meal that was really good was the sauerbraten. The Franconian schäufele was dry. The grill plate according to the house style, well 2 small steaks, 1 Nuremberg sausage (why not 3) and 1 limp belly slice. The service was nice and the boss was simply cheeky. You could hear guests complaining several times with higher numbers than he did about why they didn't call earlier when fewer people were coming. As if that's a problem at a place where walk-in customers come every 2 minutes and they are then placed because there are 2 missing and there are 3 missing and everyone else only gets told from 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. The restaurant was full so you don't have to shout at your customers.

Have been to the tiled stove for the umpteenth time - the food is really amazing, everything was always top quality, super tasty and really incredibly quick at the table! The rustic atmosphere is great and also praise to the friendly staff! The innkeeper always has a quick saying up his sleeve - heartfelt recommendation, all thumbs up!

My sauerbraten was good, but the Schäuferla were very dry and tough. The boss is extremely unfriendly. We had reserved and only had 1.5 hours until the next guests arrived. This is probably the case at Christmas time. We have reserved for 13 people. Unfortunately, a family of 3 people became ill at short notice. We only found out about it 20 minutes before the meeting point. The boss didn't like that. We then had to sit at a smaller table with all our drinks so that it had 3 more seats. Then we had to eat under time pressure and were quickly told that the next guests were coming. It was just one mass dispatch. Outside the boss insulted us that it was impossible that we didn't cancel when three people were sick so that he could plan better. And we knew from the start that we only had 1.5 hours. But we didn't realize that your plate would almost be taken away during the meal so that the next guests could come.

Some of the food is oversalted, the service asks if everything is ok, but just doesn't listen and moves on. Then the waiter asked us if he should pack it🤣
