Delicious and authentic cuisine with a great outdoor seating area. Despite the busy times, service was always courteous and regularly checked in. Highly recommended :-)

We were greeted with the question of whether we really wanted to order something to eat, because if we only planned to order drinks, we should please leave. We wanted something to eat and ordered something, but in retrospect, we should have left immediately given the rude greeting.

Are lunch here and enjoyed it very much. Service was good and friendly. Bier was very good and cold. Enjoyed the Sauerbraten greatly along with the sautéed red cabbage. Wife had the pork shoulder which was very nice. Thank you!

My childhood friend and her daughters invited my boyfriend and me for dinner at Restaurant Alt-Ringlein during our recent vacation in Germany. The restaurant is beautiful and with all the authentic furnishings one expects to find in Franconia. My friend had made reservations, so we were seated immediately. Our server was very kind and efficient. We ordered the Sauerbraten, which came with a bread dumpling, but we were gladly accommodated when we asked to substitute for a potato dumpling. Other orders at our table included Kaesespaetzle and Turkey steak with French fries and salad. We also tried the Panna Cotta for dessert. Everything was excellent and we greatly enjoyed the evening.

The food is typically Franconian and delicious. The service is open and attentive. Even without a reservation, the staff will do their best to accommodate you. The restaurant is located in the beautiful old town of Bamberg. The beer is tasty and inexpensive.

Bamberg has a very beautiful old town. We stayed at the Hotel Alt Ringlein for three nights. We were neither greeted nor farewelled by the ladies at reception upon arrival. Such unfriendliness We have never experienced this in any hotel, without us guests they wouldn't have a job. A thank you to the lady at breakfast.

Franconian cuisine in quality and to fill you up - prices are okay! Drinks cheap.

Simply cult and a really cool operation. Nice room and probably the best Schäuferla in the whole area. The delicious Spezi smoked beer is also highly recommended, with which you can take your liver off the donor list. Always a great time. definitely worth a trip or two. I keep coming! 🍻

We came here to try the beer - and were not disappointed. The beer was fantastic, the service friendly and attentive. We particularly enjoyed our drink outside on the street, in bright sunshine on a busy Saturday, with lots of people strolling past. It was an all-round wonderful experience that we can recommend to everyone.

We were spontaneously in Bamberg and also spontaneously took a break here. Although the weather was rather cool, we sat outside (and we weren't the only ones, because it's nice to sit under the large umbrellas). We were served not only promptly but also courteously and the food was very good. The waiters were always attentive and friendly. Thanks!

Four of us (2 adults, 2 children) ate in the beer garden and we were thrilled. The service(s) were super friendly and accommodating, Schäuferla with savoy cabbage, a poem and a mountain of fries + 6 Chicken McNuggets as a children's plate. Highly recommended, especially the shady spots on the terrace

The hotel's prime location in the middle of the beautiful old town of Bamberg. We were just as impressed by the friendly and attentive service staff in the restaurant as we were by the delicious, down-to-earth cuisine. Really recommended!

Our absolute favorite restaurant in Bamberg. Always friendly, competent service and extremely fine Franconian cuisine in the midst of the World Heritage tourism chaos. Be sure to make a table reservation otherwise you might end up queuing for a long time.

Good morning, So the Wi-Fi in my room was a little disappointing. It was just enough to send messages, but that wasn't a big deal. The location of the hotel is extremely good, right in the “Sandstrasse”, the hot spot of the best bars and restaurants in Bamberg. The room with bathroom was very clean and tidy. The employees are always friendly. The breakfast impressed me the most by far, although there wasn't a huge selection, the things that were offered were all fresh.

We had the scoop. Really tender and super tasty! Only recommended. Service very nice and competent.

Top location if you want to live in the middle of the village. Nice staff, good breakfast (lots of fruit and berries) and garage next door. Very affordable! Good digital possibilities for check-in and check-out.

The Ringlein restaurant scores points with its central location and traditional Franconian cuisine. The dishes, such as Schäufele (pork shoulder) and bratwurst, were delicious, and the portions were generous. The service was friendly and attentive; there's nothing to complain about here. What seriously spoiled the overall impression, however, was the unpleasant odor in the restaurant. It smelled musty and of chlorine (March 8, 2025). This unfortunately made the stay less than pleasant.

This is by far the best Schäuferla in Bamberg! Service and food really great! Very nice terrace where you can eat well!

We ate here and sat outside. It's naturally a very touristy (and accordingly crowded) location, but it's also a beautiful central spot in Bamberg. We had a very nice spot to watch the activity around the square. The food and service were good. The good value for money was surprising, considering the central location—I would have expected higher prices here.

Great hotel, service and customer experience. Smokey bier garten next door with lots of inside and outside singing and jocularity is major plus.

The Ringlein restaurant is a recommended place to drink local beer. Since the restaurant is busy, you should definitely reserve in advance. There is also a separate window where you can order beer and drink it directly in front of the restaurant. We really enjoyed the beer and would definitely recommend a visit!

We only came here for lunch. Food was great. Service was also at its best. We sat at a shared table with another guests and talking opening a conversation was a good chance to know and learn more about the German Food tradition. It made the experience even better. Thanks.

We enjoyed the lunch break in the restaurant's beer garden. The staff was very attentive and friendly despite being busy. The waiting time was short. The food was large in portions and very tasty. Even the dogs were taken care of and given fresh water. Price-performance was very good. Conclusion: Very good kitchen/cook and great staff! We'd love to come back!

After a long hike I realized that I had never stopped there before. So in. Nice uncomplicated service. Great bradwurst and n U from the Mahr. You don't need anything more.

We wanted to have a beer with 7 people and were directed to the sidewalk. The boss's statement that we are a restaurant and not a tavern was unfortunately not the fine English way.

Es ist eine echt urige, tolle rustikale Atmosphäre im Restaurant. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und hat immer wieder nachgefragt, ob es etwas sein darf. Wir hatten die Fränkische Platte für 2 Personen. Mehr Sauce gibt es auf Nachfrage gratis hinterher. Sauerkraut haben wir auch noch nachbestellt für unter 3 Euro. Alles in Allem sehr gutes Essen . Das Schäufala war mega zart . Die Haxe war nicht superfrisch und minimal trocken, aber sehr gut. Natürlich ist es schwer, immer punktgenau genug Haxen vorzugaren. Wir würden wieder hier essen. Die teils schlechten Bewertungen verstehen wir nicht.

Cute hotel in a central location, unfortunately a bit outdated. A very good breakfast and nice staff. A very young and super nice, open-minded team welcomed us in the restaurant. The food was very good, as you would imagine in Franconia. Thank you very much for that and kind regards from Leipzig. Would love to come back here.

Since we visited both the hotel and the restaurant, I will break down the review. 1. Hotel: Location: right in the old town; It can certainly get louder in the summer, only audible sporadically here, but I think you have to weigh up whether it's a central location and a little louder or rather outside with a longer journey into the city. Rooms clean, but a bit worn out. However, I think you always have to differentiate between price/performance, since when you're in a city you're usually only in the room to sleep, compared to a big vacation! And the price was really good! Breakfast buffet also very well stocked; A small negative point was the somewhat fresh room temperature in the breakfast room on both days 2. Restaurant: We had reserved in advance and were surprised by the very extensive terms and conditions; On site it became clear that, understandably, due to the many exaggerated and excessive bachelor parties, this was the consequence of what all old town restaurants now do! Therefore, as a “normal” restaurant guest, don’t be put off by this, or just ask ;-) The quality and quantity of the food was very good! The prices for food and drinks are also considered cheaper for guests who come from outside Franconia. Here in the south of Bavaria you can actually find... There is no longer a good restaurant that keeps most of its dishes under 20 euros! The waitresses were also present and very nice. We felt completely comfortable and can only recommend it.

War heute Mittag im Lokal um etwas zu essen und dann für eine größere Gruppe zu reservieren. Was ich aber nicht gemacht habe. Das Schäufele wurde mir nach kaum 5 Minuten serviert. Der Gabeleinstich hat mich schon nichts gutes ahnen lassen. Es war halb durchgetrocknet von zu langer Zeit im Ofen oder dort wieder aufgewärmt. Und es war total versalzen. Der Wirsing war in Ordnung und nicht überwürzt, so dass man beides zusammen essen konnte. Für mich ein absolutes no Go und auf keinen Fall eine Wiederholung wert.

A historic hotel restaurant with a nice ambience, including a beer garden. The menu includes the usual selected Franconian delicacies. Particularly noteworthy is the offer on the menu to share Schäufele and knuckles for two people and to offer an additional plate with the side dishes of dumpling and sauerkraut.

We only ate here, not stayed overnight. The beer garden is beautiful, central and cozy. We wanted to have a drink first and then look at the menu in peace, but pressure was immediately put on us to say that if we didn't order food, we had to leave. Somehow understandable when there's a lot going on, but not REALLY likeable... There are certainly a lot of meals going out, so it's not surprising that not everything is home-made. I've certainly eaten rösti much better in Franconia. In return I got quite a lot of smoked salmon! Savoy cabbage side dish instead of sauerkraut? Very pleasing!! But dear people in the kitchen, what have you done to the beautiful savoy cabbage..... 😱 Everything here is more focused on mass tourism.

Here we were served very friendly and quickly. The food was very tasty 😋 and we would like to visit the restaurant more often.

Unfortunately you couldn't eat a meal inside because it smelled VERY strongly of chlorine or some other chemical (10/12/24, about 6:30 p.m.). Many people who came in immediately left the restaurant; those who had already sat and eaten had to endure it. We also left after staying for a short time without ordering. Making mistakes with chemicals on a Saturday evening is simply the last resort and takes away a lot of confidence in the rest of the overall offering. I hope something changes.

A really great service team on site! Restaurant and hotel that do a mega job. To top it all off, I left my wallet behind because of all the good food and relaxation ☺️ no problem, it was sent forward with all the contents. Thank you 🙏 P.S. I think it's great that there are no beer brothers, bowling teams of all kinds and guests who don't consume. Hardly anyone in the catering industry survives on air and love and no one talks about how often the service staff are treated.

House located directly in the old town, below the cathedral. Nice and clean rooms. The staff are competent, friendly and try very hard to fulfill all of the guest's wishes.

We had lunch with our 2 kids and were served very friendly. There was a children's card to color in. Food good and a bit expensive. With sauerbraten there could be one more dumpling on the plate.

Food was good, but the waiter was very unfriendly... a colleague was in the toilet while the billing was being done.... we wanted to pay for him but he said "no problem, we'll do it right away" then at 7.30 p.m. you have to do it Clear the table. About an hour later the waiter called us and gave us 5 minutes to pay the rest otherwise he would call the police. Honestly only speaking people can be helped. Never again with this staff!!

Shitty service, super unfriendly

Unfortunately I can't give a reasonable assessment here because the waiter refused to allow us to sit down. Although he did this in a very friendly and polite manner, he had to refer to his boss's instructions. The reason for the rejection was our 4 "Beer Brothers" T-shirts, something like that wouldn't be welcome... Then we'll just spend our money somewhere else

Average restaurant, about 3.5* Meat well done, but the rest tastes instant. Service a bit off. When you order lunch: a main course and a soup, you expect the soup to come first and then the main course. Here, on the other hand, it was the main course first and then the soup, it wasn't even good, so it didn't detract from anything. We ate ok, but I probably wouldn't go a second time.

Absolutely pointless regulations with buying beer from the bar and then drinking it in the restaurant! Standing next to the beer garden is allowed, but not 1 meter away on the bench.

We ate here in the beer garden. Fast, friendly service every time, even for repeat orders. The food was great. Once the hearty Franconian Schäufela and the vegetarian baked potato with avocado cream and salad. A real recommendation!

Wedding party of 20 people and 1-2 people didn't want to eat. For this reason, all wedding guests were sent away. The restaurant could still have made good sales. But apparently that's not necessary. We ended up staying at “Scheiners”. We were warmly welcomed and looked after there.

Simply impossible! I used to really enjoy coming here but unfortunately not in the future! We were a group of 20 people who wanted to go to the beer garden at 2 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. We then got two tables. Up until here everything was good. Then a really very unfriendly and annoyed person came from the service. After 2 people out of 20 didn't want to eat anything, they just wanted to drink something, we were turned away from the beer garden. The message was that we are there at rush hour and it is not possible for us to take people's seats. When we said that 18 people would eat something, it became even more unpleasant. We were then told that we didn't own the beer garden and that he could decide for himself who he wanted to have in his beer garden and who he didn't. We then left and were happily welcomed at another restaurant! It's really a shame how unkindly we were treated!

The food in the outdoor lighting was very good and plentiful. Highly recommended salad with warm chanterelles. The atmosphere was good, the weather was excellent. All highly recommended.
