Eckerts Wirtshaus in Bamberg

Four of us came here for breakfast. Everything was beautifully presented, but overpriced in my opinion!!! The salmon and the other portions were really very small for the price, everyone said. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was definitely great, especially with the view of the water.

Reservation possible online. It's best to ask for a seat by the window. ☺️ Very friendly and informative service. Special request possible. Very nice card, prices ok. A bit noisy when sitting inside. We liked it very much.

Unfortunately, we had the impression that the food was kept warm for a long time and some of it came to the table lukewarm. It was good, but not a revelation - we had hoped for more in terms of taste from the description on the menu. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities were also very poorly clean during our visit. The friendly service was positive.

Very nicely located restaurant with a view of the old town hall and surrounded by water. The service staff were very attentive. We chose the restaurant because it was the only restaurant in Bamberg that offered carp. The corn-fed chicken with cocoa noodles was also very tasty.

Yesterday, at 9:00 a.m., I wanted to go to Eckerts for breakfast as a nice end to my three-day stay in Bamberg. Unfortunately I can't comment on the interior ambience or food as that didn't happen! Presumably because I came in as a single person with my backpack and shopping bag (my train home was already at noon), I was looked at critically as soon as I entered the entrance and when I said that I would like to have breakfast, I was told that they would first have to check at the reception whether there was a table for me. The gentleman behind the bar commented to his colleague that the choice of seating had to be checked first... I was very happy to go straight back! It may be that the restaurant was already full (I can't tell because I wasn't able to see it), but the somewhat strange and condescending manner doesn't really reflect hospitality. Luckily, there are enough alternatives in Bamberg where you will receive a friendlier welcome! Nevertheless, the experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth, especially at the end of my stay! The location and exterior look is still very nice.

Unfortunately it has worn off. Eckerts was one of our favorite restaurants in BA for a long time, but the last three or four visits have always ended in disappointment. We were there spontaneously yesterday afternoon. In reality, there were only four dishes to choose from from the extensive menu (if you can pass a salad plate as a full meal). In response to our irritated reaction, the waiter said: "We're just an evening restaurant!" - as if you don't owe any service for the above-average prices if you're (still?) open at lunchtime. My wife had a mushroom quiche which was quite small and reached weak DB on-board bistro standards. The salad had almost no dressing, obviously not mixed through, just dumped on (or next to) it. My seasoned meat looked good and was ok, the sauce was even good. But the vegetables tasted good warmed up or kept warm. In Vienna you would say: "A dull thing." I'm afraid the Eckerts won't see us again any time soon.

Delicious beer, sat comfortably...if there had been anything else it would have been five stars. But we were there at the wrong time - a shame.

Beautiful location, super delicious food - the veal liver was tender as butter - and the service was courteous and friendly. If we come to Bamberg again, we will definitely eat here again.

An absolutely top-notch location in Bamberg, with reasonably attentive staff. The most beautiful view of Bamberg's old town and the best staff are of little use to the guest if the kitchen's performance is lacking. My pork cheeks were completely mushy, and the gravy was a thick mush. The same was true of the dishes of my three fellow diners, who found their food more or less inedible. And the 0.75-liter mineral water for €7.40 is a bit overpriced. All in all, a lot of money for little skill.

Very unfriendly waiter, very long waiting times. The food is disproportionate to the high price. When we wanted another dessert, we were told that the kitchen had already closed and he had to see what else was there. Even though we had reserved for 7:30 p.m. and didn't get our food until 9 p.m.!! When we asked the waiter about it while paying, he became very unfriendly and rude. He didn't think it was necessary to at least apologize for the long waiting times. Since it was my son's birthday party and we had guests, it was of course very unpleasant for us that it wasn't the way we actually know the Eckerts.

We ate excellently and had a beautiful view. Highly recommended.

Food was very, very tasty, although the price was slightly higher. However, the waiter was very unfriendly, visibly annoyed if you dared to order something. When 3 people ordered something to drink there was an annoyed sigh and rolled eyes (ordering drinks in a restaurant is really a cheek!) We also waited almost an hour for our food. At the end we were asked if we wanted another dessert, after we had decided after a minute we were then told that he didn't know if we would get another one because the kitchen was already closed. You either ask in advance in the kitchen or let them know before offering dessert. There was also no apology for the long waiting times. All in all, an absolute disgrace, especially for the slightly higher price range, every Netto cashier exudes more customer friendliness. When I pointed out (friendly!!!) when paying that the service wasn't really great, the waiter yelled at me and there was no insight or apology to be found. Absolute impudence. Ambiance is ok, but not a highlight, especially in the upper area. Actually a 4-5/5, but since the service was not only bad, but really underground, it's only enough for 1/5.

Food ok, but portion size is disproportionate to the price. Service not particularly friendly. Waiting times for food were more than an hour, and even the waiting time for a second drink was around 20 minutes. Ambience nice. Addendum: The highlight was at the end when the waitress asked us if we would like dessert. After thinking about it for a minute, he said that he couldn't promise that we would get anything else because the kitchen was already closed. But the fact that this was because we had to wait forever for our food and therefore finished eating so late was not mentioned and there was no excuse for it. We then declined the dessert because you either ask in advance what is still available or leave it alone. And especially apologizes for the long waiting times.

great atmosphere, you're practically sitting above the water. The Regnitz flows to the right and left and you can look directly at the water. Portions clear. Food delicious.

We had breakfast at 9:30 a.m. and were a little surprised because there were only 3 guests in the restaurant. The conditions were very friendly but I was disappointed by the ambience, there was no decoration anywhere, there was only salt, pepper and sugar on the tables. Unfortunately very unloving. The breakfast was good, but very expensive. You order a basic breakfast and everything else has to be booked as well. And that will be correspondingly expensive. Unfortunately I didn't like it all around. Not recommended for me.

Very friendly service. The food is very tasty and absolutely worth the money. We were also able to enjoy the great ambience with a view of the water. All in all, a lovely experience and a great end to your holiday in Bamberg.

We've been coming here for breakfast every now and then for years. Good in itself & also delicious things on the menu, but I think Eckerts lives more from its incomparable location on the water. From breakfast alone, in my opinion there are better places to go in Bamberg. Unfortunately, the cappu and the milk coffee leave something to be desired. Unfortunately it's not served in a barista style. Otherwise, always happy.

We stopped by to eat one of the lunch options for 9.20. Very delicious food, homemade, and variety of beers. Very nice view with tables next to the window. Kind attention. At the time we went it was empty. Clean bathrooms. Advisable.

We came in for a drink, were shown a table and given a drink card. Then the waiter went and talked privately at a large party, and then we were not even worthy of a glance from here. Nor by 2-3 other waiters who came in and out of the bar area. After a quarter of an hour we got up and left. When we said goodbye, the waiter replied with a smile…. We will not come again!

Ate here last night and got food poisoning from the Pork… otherwise it was a lovely setting. Drinks were nice but I got an aperitif without a straw which was very odd and they seemed bothered when we asked for a straw.

Eckerts offers fine local cuisine. Everything good and fresh. Sometimes, however, the price/performance ratio is not right. The furniture is a bit too basic compared to the prices quoted.

I was there yesterday with my mom for coffee and cake. They both had the vegan pistachio-lime cake and absolutely loved it! Rarely have I had such a good vegan cake, especially not in Bamberg! Super unusual, but that's exactly what we like, we'll be happy to come back! We also liked that there is no extra charge for oat milk, the Eckerts arrived in 2025 :)

It's difficult here as a vegetarian. There is only risotto on the menu. If you're not a fan of it, you'll have to switch to tarte flambée. We drove a long way based on recommendations to also... m Eckerts to dine. The disappointment is quite big. The starter was good, the main course was tarte flambée and the dessert, well, nothing special. You can, but it doesn't have to be. Price performance isn't right either...almost 19 euros for a tarte flambée.... Service is top and very friendly.

There was a special menu on New Year's Eve. The food was simply great. The service was also top notch. There were 8 of us and we all loved it. We were allowed to watch fireworks and even opened the roof terrace. Thank you for the great evening.

we were having breakfast. You sit very nicely and have a great view. The food was sublime. I ordered bratwursts. They were the size of a little finger, burned and smelled rancid, as if they had just been thawed or reheated several times. You couldn't eat them because the smell made you sick. I complained and returned the sausages. There was no replacement for it and we had to pay for it. You can get better home cooking in any simple inn.

Unfortunately, the food and service were only satisfactory. Expectations were not met. Original sound service: tavern, not fine dining... main course looked more like a canteen. Bad value for money!

No service, waited and waited to get a drink the Restraunts was freezing all doors wide open 7 deg outside everybody had coats on and the music was so loud you could not have a conversation. The music was weird never knew one track. Food was ok use to be known for fantastic seafood chowder. Nat a patch on the old days been going to the bar area for 14 years. Not offered any fill ups for drinks no coffee or desert we just got up and left I think it will be a long time before we return and we own a house in Queenstown and we are here 6 month of the year.

We were there on Saturday evening. The restaurant was very busy, but everything went smoothly. The staff is friendly and accommodating, from reception to payment. We had spelled patties and roasted dumplings - both extremely tasty. Oh, and don't forget the cake for dessert. Reasonably priced given the ambience and quality. And: there was nothing wrong with the beer, on the contrary: it tastes even better after the second one.

The food was excellent, but the price of some dishes is very high, which is why only 4 stars (starter lamb's lettuce €13.90)

Yesterday we had breakfast at Eckerts again; To be honest, I was disappointed the first time, but I wanted to give it another chance. Price-performance doesn't match here at all. The breakfast is absolutely nothing special. The cheese platter includes Brie and Emmental cheese, the black coffee is a normal filter coffee, and the portions are absolutely manageable. There is absolutely no trace of innovation on the breakfast menu here, it is more reminiscent of system catering. You can get inspiration from other breakfast cafés in Bamberg. Apart from the rolls from the organic bakery, organic eggs and homemade spread (?), there is no exceptional quality to be found here. All of this would be fine if the prices weren't so outrageous. The service was meaningless - in the truest sense of the word: not even a “good morning” from the guest was responded to when entering the restaurant. For me as a Bamberg resident it was the last time.

Friendly service, modern atmosphere, clear (small) menu, definitely try the farmer's duck (only on weekends), it's something to kneel down on, never had such a tender duck before, great sauce with it and two dumplings.

Always great service and excellent food

Ambience top - food good - service could be improved. Were at Eckerts for the first time. The overall ambience and the location right on the river are of course great. As a starter we had 2x goat cheese and 1x ragut. The taste was very good, although the goat cheese (2 small round goat cheese wheels each) was quite a bit as a starter. The main course was 1x carp and 2x pork cheeks. The cheeks were super tender. Overall, again very tasty. Only the presentation could have been more upbeat. But everyone feels differently. For dessert there was a pumpkin seed parfait. 3 starters and main courses, 1x dessert and drinks €168. Okay for the quality of the food and the ambience. Unfortunately, the service here has dropped significantly. Unfortunately, in our opinion, the gentleman seemed a bit unmotivated and did not approach the guests. Unfortunately it was a bit unpleasant from the side and fell short of expectations.

Nice location by the river, good beer, ordinary food at overpriced prices — canteen quality daily special €19.50? Plus a burnt, soggy tarte flambée that used to be so good that we drove all the way from Nuremberg to Eckerts in Bamberg to eat the tarte flambée. And the icing on the cake — the rude, abusive waiter who just insulted us; you pay the money to be insulted in front of other guests and fellow waiters. Management should urgently train service staff on service quality. 10 years of favorite restaurant is now just one disappointment. Really a shame.

We went here for breakfast on Sunday morning. The location and the view are really great. The service was excellent. People kept checking and asking if we needed anything else. Reordering was no problem. The breakfast menu was rich with many good options. Luckily there was no breakfast buffet. The rolls are relatively small, but I think that's a good thing because it means less waste.

Food and ambience really recommended. It didn't just take me until someone came to serve me. A number of guests left because no one came.

Others can learn a lesson from this restaurant. Great food, super friendly service and great ambience. One more reason to visit Bamberg.

The place is beatifull and the service was good. The food was itself not to bad, but the usage of salt in the sauce was way too much. And we were in 10 and all had the same complaint.

We haven't been to Eckerts for a while. We were completely impressed by the quality of the food, fresh and excellent in taste. Unfortunately my sweet potato goulash wasn't really hot, but that was just a minor issue. The staff is exceptionally friendly. Given our conditions, we noticed that they enjoy their work. That speaks highly of Eckerts. Keep it up!

Wirklich schöne Lokation, direkt am/auf dem Fluss. Einrichtung ebenfalls schön und sauber. Das Essen war leider durchschnittlich. Suppe mit Bohnenkraut kräftig überwürzt und Frikadellen waren trocken.

The restaurant has plenty of space and is also suitable for larger groups. The quality of the food is really good. What is particularly noteworthy, however, is the great service. It is also positive that you can reserve online, which is rare in Bamberg.

We stumbled upon this place looking for dinner. The setting is great and the food even better. We had the traditional tart and pork cheeks with pasta. Both were phenomenal.

The breakfast was sufficient and very good! My wife and I felt very comfortable and are always impressed.

A wonderful place for breakfast, but also for a meal or a coffee. Great breakfast menu to combine according to your own taste. First-class and friendly service and a wonderful ambience. Highly recommended!
