The pork cheeks were delicious, all the dishes were beautifully presented, and the service was friendly. The portions were decent.

Beautifully situated in the middle of the river... beautiful views with terraces, sure to be wonderful in the summer... not wheelchair accessible... on different levels, with steps... The food is inspired by Franconian cuisine, but also has Mediterranean influences... very delicious! The service was upscale... very attentive. Definitely worth a visit.

Great ambiance right on the water. We sat in the lower room with a larger table on Monday. It wasn't too crowded, and the acoustics were good, making it easy to have a good conversation. Unusual dishes, something different. The restaurant is definitely worth recommending!

Good restaurant, centrally located with a lovely rooftop terrace. A good menu and delicious dishes. Something for everyone. A good selection of drinks – wine, cocktails, and aperitifs. Highly recommended. The only downside was that the service seemed a bit clumsy at times.

Rolls were brought in paper bags and not in bread baskets.

We had a good meal. It was quite busy, so a reservation is a good idea. The tables are quite close together, and it's quite noisy, as the modern, minimalist decor means there are no sound-absorbing materials. Service was polite, and the food arrived quickly. Despite being a Saturday night, we finished in 90 minutes and were able to start our night watchman tour on time. Given the high occupancy, the general cleanliness, including the restrooms, is worth mentioning.

A small but very fine menu, with standard dishes and that certain something that makes the difference. Very friendly service, even though the restaurant was packed. Excellent value for money: 2 main courses, 4 drinks for €40. The only drawback: it's quite noisy inside when it's full. Still: highly recommended.

Today we spontaneously drove to Bamberg and ended up at Eckerts thanks to a reservation made by our son 🤝 We congratulated each other on the excellent restaurant. We haven't had such an excellent meal in a long time. The menu selection isn't particularly extensive, but the dishes are exceptionally good and quite unusual. We had goat cheese for starters. The main course was Steinbeiser (a kind of stewed venison), roast venison with poppy seed spaetzle, and hazelnut spaghetti. Everything was exceptionally fine and flavorful. The portions were perfectly adequate. Eckerts is highly recommended.

I sat outside on the bridge. It was really nice there. The waiter came right away, but had trouble taking our order. The drinks came quickly, too. Only the food took a really long time to arrive. And it wasn't that great either. I'd go back for a drink anytime. I wouldn't eat there again.

Perfect Location and reasonnablenprices

Beautiful ambiance, great location. The food, lunch menu available until 2 p.m., was partly good, partly not. The bean and vegetable stew was delicious, the meatballs very salty. When I asked the waitress, I told her my dish wasn't good. Three-quarters of the portion was still on my plate... No one asked what was wrong, just cleared it away without comment. Why ask if you're not interested? It's a shame.

Unfortunately, I can't rate the food. Yesterday, at the Sandkerwa (yes, I know it's busy, but there are also restaurateurs who are prepared for it). One server outside, one runner (I don't know much - no offense), one bartender, and I think one waitress waiting for drinks. Only one table inside, occupied outside, but the guests weren't well-mannered, thus uneconomical. After asking if there was a seat available, a simple no - and they left. Stressed - I understand, given the staffing situation. The manager or boss - probably celebrating at the Sandkerwa. I have no understanding for that anymore. Guys and girls, just don't do the job if you don't feel like it. Yes, I know, the restaurant industry is difficult, guests are difficult. I know the business all too well, but the guests aren't to blame; it's either your career choice or your boss. So, I'll give everything a 1-star rating.

The service is unobtrusive yet very attentive. The food was of a high standard for all of us (six people). And the ambiance, right on the left arm of the Regnitz River with a view of beautiful Bamberg, rounded off the whole experience.

Franconian meets creativity – we spontaneously ended up at Eckert's Wirtshaus and were completely delighted. The roast venison with poppy seed spaetzle and pointed cabbage and pear was perfectly balanced, and the side dishes harmonized wonderfully with the tender meat. My companion was equally impressed by the Poxdorf farmer's duck with creamed savoy cabbage and dumplings; here, too, everything came together perfectly. Here, the side dishes receive just as much love as the meat. Although we had to sit outside without a reservation and it was a bit chilly, the impression remains of a cuisine that combines regionality with fine refinement.

We had the dishes for lunch. We enjoyed them, but the portions were a bit small for the price, in my opinion. The bean soup was a bit bland.

The atmosphere was gorgeous, and the service was excellent. A larger selection would have been nice for dinner, but we were very happy with our choices. However, my partner would have preferred homemade fries for the price. All in all, very tasty and lovely!

Bamberg is always worth a visit…

A very nice restaurant with a small rooftop terrace and a view of Bamberg's Little Venice. Very good food in a lovely atmosphere. Unfortunately, even with a reservation, you can only stay for two hours during peak times 😥

Eckert's Wirtshaus is quaint and right on the water. The ambiance is lovely. The menu is okay, but a bit small for an evening meal. There aren't many typical Franconian dishes here. The tarte flambée was very tasty. The prices are a bit higher, and reservations are recommended.

The service was super friendly and welcoming! The food was excellent, it couldn't have been better. There wasn't a single thing that bothered me! If I'm in the area, I would come back immediately, without even checking if there are other good restaurants.

I haven't had such good food in a restaurant in a long time. Highly recommended. The service also deserves its name. Very attentive staff.

The dishes are perfectly coordinated, and the combinations are delicious. >Chanterelles and peaches< >Pointed cabbage and pear vegetables< What was very confusing for us was why the baguette was served in a bread bag instead of on a plate or bread basket. We were very satisfied with the food, service, and decor.

We visited Eckerts on the recommendation of friends. The ambiance is lovely; when the weather's nice, you can sit on the roof terrace (view of the Regnitz River) or in front of the restaurant. The menu is small, which is a good sign. Chanterelles are the current theme, which is also a good sign (seasonal). We had the braised pork cheeks with pasta and chanterelles, 5 stars for this; the meat was tender as butter, the sauce spicy. We also had spaghetti with hazelnuts, chanterelles, and cherries. Three stars for this (either spaghetti, in which case the sauce needs to be thicker, or use different pasta. The combination of spaghetti and the overly thin sauce was difficult to eat without spilling. I might have used dried fruit instead of the fresh cherries. The good portion of chanterelles was a positive.) That averages out to a good 4 stars.

Good food but even nicer scenery. Go here if you want to eat traditional food from Bamberg!

A beautiful, modern restaurant with a truly fantastic location. The selection of dishes is small, but everyone will find something to their liking. The ice cream was truly outstanding! Highly recommended after a delicious main course.

A beautiful restaurant and a fascinating location. We had a special occasion and were looking for a special restaurant. Since we'd just moved here, we weren't familiar with Eckerts yet. We'll definitely visit again, but the food was very dry and the veal schnitzel was unenjoyable. Just breading, super thin, dry, and tough meat. My husband had falafel, which was delicious but unfortunately a bit dry. My husband had lipstick on his glass, which wasn't very appetizing either, which was a shame. Next time we'll try Fesper...

Everything to your complete satisfaction.

Lunch was very touristy. The salad with soy patties and avocado-pineapple cream for €15.80 was unfortunately not worth the money. It was a simple salad with ready-made nuggets and avocado cream that barely existed. We were sitting on the terrace when it started to rain, and the seat cushions were ripped out from under us to keep them from getting wet.

A truly beautiful restaurant overlooking the water. Delicious food, and the rooftop terrace is a great place to sit.

We love visiting Eckerts with our baby for coffee—they have delicious, sophisticated cakes and tarts, a quiet, relaxed atmosphere in the afternoon with comfortable seating, and—a major plus for us—the best diaper changing facilities in Bamberg so far 😉 The staff is friendly and attentive. We always feel at home.

Even though we were sitting directly across from the bar, we weren't asked for a second drink order after our first one, despite our empty glasses. The Eckerts Flammkuchen didn't match the description and was oily and bland. My companion's schnitzel, on the other hand, was very good. Generally, you have to be prepared to wait a long time here. We waited almost 60 minutes for our food, even though the place wasn't busy, and it also took a long time for our order to be taken.

We received a friendly welcome and were shown directly to a table on the roof terrace. The drinks (homemade lemonade and very good beer) and the food were truly delicious, with reasonable portions. The service staff were professional and polite, and certainly attentive, but still seemed joyless and unwelcoming. Unfortunately, we got this impression from virtually all the reception and service staff. Are they underpaid, or was it because of the heat or the stairs leading to the roof terrace? We don't know. It was still a lovely evening, and the restaurant is beautiful. A few flowers would have been nice, and we received the first smile for the tip. You often don't know what might have happened on a day like this...

I can't say much about the food; I only had a few drinks there. The ambiance and service are top-notch.

Beautiful view from the roof terrace.

Reserve a corner table for a water view. The terrace overlooking the lake is closed. We went there, and the waitress offered us the only free table on the other terrace without checking our reservation. We left. I don't know why they emailed me saying there were no problems with that table and then they're so dismissive. I don't recommend anyone make plans at this place. The menu didn't mention the water. Be careful. Possible tourist trap.

We can only rate the service, but the waiter was extremely unfriendly and annoyed with our tour group, even upon arrival! We wanted to sit inside because we were traveling with a 10-week-old baby and, unfortunately, it was very windy. Even though there were no guests there, we felt rather unwelcome. We'll find another place to eat! Thankfully, Bamberg is very well-equipped when it comes to food.

This was our fourth visit to Eckerts, and everything was perfect again! This time we were able to eat on the roof terrace and had a wonderful view!

Very unfriendly service. Iced coffee only available after 2 p.m. Inflexible and not recommended.

This restaurant was recommended to us, but unfortunately, the food didn't live up to our expectations. We had asparagus with potatoes and hollandaise sauce. The potatoes were reheated, drained, glazed, and not tasty. The sauce wasn't hollandaise. The service was a bit snippy, more show than substance.

The selection of dishes is very small, but the prices are all the higher.

An absolute disaster. The service left much to be desired, so much so that we sometimes had to order our own beer at the bar. For dinner, we had spaghetti with two kinds of asparagus and strawberries in a coconut and chervil sauce. It tasted of nothing! Not a trace of coconut. The salt and pepper shakers were overused, and even the additional Parmesan cheese only partially improved its flavor. On top of that, the spaghetti was "swimming" in the sauce, which was more like a soup. My partner had salmon on risotto and got stomach cramps as "dessert"... No thanks! Never again!

Ein absoluter Reinfall. Der Service ließ zu wünschen übrig, so dass man das Bier auch mal an der Bar selbst geordert hat. Zum Essen gab es Spaghetti mit zweierlei Spargel und Erdbeeren in Kokos-Kerbelsoße. Es schmeckte nach nichts! Die Salz- und Pfefferstreuer kamen an ihr Limit und auch der nachbestellte Parmesan konnte es nur bedingt schmackhaft machen. Zudem “schwammen” die Spaghetti in der Soße, welche eher einer Suppe glich. Mein Partner hatte Lachs auf Risotto und bekam als “Dessert” Magenkrämpfe… Nein danke! Nie wieder!

We, from Bamberg, went to Eckerts for breakfast again today. I think I'll let a boring picture do the talking.⬇️ The breakfast menu is long… very long, with countless items, since you have to put everything together yourself and, of course, you "have to" pay a lot for each individual item. Service was nice. But this will definitely be our last time here.

Four of us visited this restaurant on Easter Sunday. The restaurant is beautifully located, very stylishly decorated inside, and the welcome was very friendly. We were assigned a table and served us quickly. We would give this young lady an extra star if possible. Her good humor and wit made our evening enjoyable. The food was perfect. Beautifully presented and delicious. The various beers were also very good. We highly recommend this restaurant.

What I really liked is not being bothered every 15 mins by waitstaff.....you had to let them know if you needed something. And when you did, they were quick to help.

We had breakfast at Eckerts on May 1st. Very nice ambience and very nice view and great feeling on the terrace. It's not too crowded with people here either. The waiter who was responsible for us was really on the ball, very polite and was still very friendly and relaxed even after the umpteenth repeat order. The breakfast is incredibly delicious, and the homemade fruit spreads are recommended. We can definitely recommend Eckerts for breakfast!

The name Wirtshaus first makes you think of a rustic restaurant, but Eckerts is actually a bit more modern. But the atmosphere is nice, as is the service and the view right on the river with a view of bridges and the old town hall is fantastic. We had a snack that was very tasty. So definitely recommended.

The restaurant is beautifully located, surrounded by water! The service was excellent, unfortunately the food was a bit disappointing. The Franconian specialties were missing and the portions were quite manageable!

Wir gehen sicher nicht mehr hin. Das Restaurant liegt schön, das ist das Positive. Das Essen war richtig schlecht, dafür sehr teuer. Der Service ist eher mässig. Ganz schlimm finde ich die billigen Fertigprodukte mit denen „gekocht“wird. Es kommen genügend Touristen, da wird Qualität dann eben mal durch schlecht und teuer ersetzt. Läuft dann trotzdem. Schade für die schöne Lage.

Unfortunately, we had the impression that the food was kept warm for a long time and some of it came to the table lukewarm. It was good, but not a revelation - we had hoped for more in terms of taste from the description on the menu. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities were also very poorly clean during our visit. Very nicely located restaurant with a view of the old town hall and surrounded by water. The service staff were very attentive. We chose the restaurant because it was the only restaurant in Bamberg that offered carp. The corn-fed chicken with cocoa noodles was also very tasty.

Yesterday, at 9:00 a.m., I wanted to go to Eckerts for breakfast as a nice end to my three-day stay in Bamberg. Unfortunately I can't comment on the interior ambience or food as that didn't happen! Presumably because I came in as a single person with my backpack and shopping bag (my train home was already at noon), I was looked at critically as soon as I entered the entrance and when I said that I would like to have breakfast, I was told that they would first have to check at the reception whether there was a table for me. The gentleman behind the bar commented to his colleague that the choice of seating had to be checked first... I was very happy to go straight back! It may be that the restaurant was already full (I can't tell because I wasn't able to see it), but the somewhat strange and condescending manner doesn't really reflect hospitality. Luckily, there are enough alternatives in Bamberg where you will receive a friendlier welcome! Nevertheless, the experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth, especially at the end of my stay! The location and exterior look is still very nice.

Unfortunately it has worn off. Eckerts was one of our favorite restaurants in BA for a long time, but the last three or four visits have always ended in disappointment. We were there spontaneously yesterday afternoon. In reality, there were only four dishes to choose from from the extensive menu (if you can pass a salad plate as a full meal). In response to our irritated reaction, the waiter said: "We're just an evening restaurant!" - as if you don't owe any service for the above-average prices if you're (still?) open at lunchtime. My wife had a mushroom quiche which was quite small and reached weak DB on-board bistro standards. The salad had almost no dressing, obviously not mixed through, just dumped on (or next to) it. My seasoned meat looked good and was ok, the sauce was even good. But the vegetables tasted good warmed up or kept warm. In Vienna you would say: "A dull thing." I'm afraid the Eckerts won't see us again any time soon.

Delicious beer, sat comfortably...if there had been anything else it would have been five stars. But we were there at the wrong time - a shame.

Beautiful location, super delicious food - the veal liver was tender as butter - and the service was courteous and friendly. If we come to Bamberg again, we will definitely eat here again.
