Eckerts Wirtshaus in Bamberg

Very nice inn. Great location with beautiful views. The food is very good and the staff is super friendly and very attentive. I can warmly recommend the inn.

We were there on Saturday evening. The restaurant was very busy, but everything went smoothly. The staff is friendly and accommodating, from reception to payment. We had spelled patties and roasted dumplings - both extremely tasty. Oh, and don't forget the cake for dessert. Reasonably priced given the ambience and quality. And: there was nothing wrong with the beer, on the contrary: it tastes even better after the second one.

Such a lovely restaurant! Thank you for the good service and the cozy atmosphere! We'd love to come back!

The food was excellent, but the price of some dishes is very high, which is why only 4 stars (starter lamb's lettuce €13.90)

Yesterday we had breakfast at Eckerts again; To be honest, I was disappointed the first time, but I wanted to give it another chance. Price-performance doesn't match here at all. The breakfast is absolutely nothing special. The cheese platter includes Brie and Emmental cheese, the black coffee is a normal filter coffee, and the portions are absolutely manageable. There is absolutely no trace of innovation on the breakfast menu here, it is more reminiscent of system catering. You can get inspiration from other breakfast cafés in Bamberg. Apart from the rolls from the organic bakery, organic eggs and homemade spread (?), there is no exceptional quality to be found here. All of this would be fine if the prices weren't so outrageous. The service was meaningless - in the truest sense of the word: not even a “good morning” from the guest was responded to when entering the restaurant. For me as a Bamberg resident it was the last time.

We were very satisfied overall and had a very nice time!

Friendly service, modern atmosphere, clear (small) menu, definitely try the farmer's duck (only on weekends), it's something to kneel down on, never had such a tender duck before, great sauce with it and two dumplings.

Always great service and excellent food

Ambience top - food good - service could be improved. Were at Eckerts for the first time. The overall ambience and the location right on the river are of course great. As a starter we had 2x goat cheese and 1x ragut. The taste was very good, although the goat cheese (2 small round goat cheese wheels each) was quite a bit as a starter. The main course was 1x carp and 2x pork cheeks. The cheeks were super tender. Overall, again very tasty. Only the presentation could have been more upbeat. But everyone feels differently. For dessert there was a pumpkin seed parfait. 3 starters and main courses, 1x dessert and drinks €168. Okay for the quality of the food and the ambience. Unfortunately, the service here has dropped significantly. Unfortunately, in our opinion, the gentleman seemed a bit unmotivated and did not approach the guests. Unfortunately it was a bit unpleasant from the side and fell short of expectations.

Nice location by the river, good beer, ordinary food at overpriced prices — canteen quality daily special €19.50? Plus a burnt, soggy tarte flambée that used to be so good that we drove all the way from Nuremberg to Eckerts in Bamberg to eat the tarte flambée. And the icing on the cake — the rude, abusive waiter who just insulted us; you pay the money to be insulted in front of other guests and fellow waiters. Management should urgently train service staff on service quality. 10 years of favorite restaurant is now just one disappointment. Really a shame.

We went here for breakfast on Sunday morning. The location and the view are really great. The service was excellent. People kept checking and asking if we needed anything else. Reordering was no problem. The breakfast menu was rich with many good options. Luckily there was no breakfast buffet. The rolls are relatively small, but I think that's a good thing because it means less waste.

Food and ambience really recommended. It didn't just take me until someone came to serve me. A number of guests left because no one came.

The place is beatifull and the service was good. The food was itself not to bad, but the usage of salt in the sauce was way too much. And we were in 10 and all had the same complaint.

Others can learn a lesson from this restaurant. Great food, super friendly service and great ambience. One more reason to visit Bamberg.

We haven't been to Eckerts for a while. We were completely impressed by the quality of the food, fresh and excellent in taste. Unfortunately my sweet potato goulash wasn't really hot, but that was just a minor issue. The staff is exceptionally friendly. Given our conditions, we noticed that they enjoy their work. That speaks highly of Eckerts. Keep it up!

Wirklich schöne Lokation, direkt am/auf dem Fluss. Einrichtung ebenfalls schön und sauber. Das Essen war leider durchschnittlich. Suppe mit Bohnenkraut kräftig überwürzt und Frikadellen waren trocken.

The restaurant has plenty of space and is also suitable for larger groups. The quality of the food is really good. What is particularly noteworthy, however, is the great service. It is also positive that you can reserve online, which is rare in Bamberg.

We stumbled upon this place looking for dinner. The setting is great and the food even better. We had the traditional tart and pork cheeks with pasta. Both were phenomenal.

Went to Bamberg for the first time yesterday. After a beautiful tour of the city, we chose the restaurant with the best rating. Extremely courteous staff. Prices are moderate. Quality is excellent. Unfortunately my wild boar schnitzel had more breading than meat. But the waiter turned a negative into a positive with his perfect service. That's why it gets full points despite too little meat and too much breading. LG and no offense

Vor ab: So schlecht haben wir noch nie, für so viel Geld gegessen. Freundlicher Empfang und man sitzt auf der Dachterrasse ganz wunderbar. Der vegetarische Flammkuchen war offensichtlich mit Tiefkühlkost belegt. Klein gewürfelte Möhren ect... So hat er auch geschmeckt. Kabeljau auf Zucchini Bett... Klang super. Die beiden Stücke Fisch waren gut. Darunter ein paar Scheiben Zucchini,die in einer sauren "Tomatensuppe" schwammen. Der Kellner war bemüht und freundlich, aber: Wir wollten mit Karte zahlen und er sagt, "Ja das geht", wollen sie das Trinkgeld auch mit Karte zahlen?" ..... Wir hatten nur eine Nacht hier in Bamberg. Schade, das Abendessen war eine Enttäuschung.

Do not eat the salad, with the mint syrup sauce, or the quiche, which is much too salty.

You sit very nicely. Outside on or above the river. Breakfast is completely overpriced. 2 small rolls with some jam and butter for an easy 7.60 euros. But there is still no coffee there. A tiny fruit salad three euros. Etc.

Very nice selection of dishes. What is particularly positive is that there is also a vegan dish on the menu. Prices are absolutely fair. The ambience right on the water is also fantastic.

Good chanterelle cream, steak and smoked beer. My brother-in-law took the venison and beat him with a rag at night.

Fresh and hearty are not mutually exclusive! We had a very nice afternoon/early evening outside. Our dog was able to cool off under the table and gaze spellbound at the water. The service was great, the beer was tasty and went well with the food. If there weren't so many other restaurants to discover, we would definitely come back :)

Die Begrüßung durch den Herrn am Empfang war so grob unhöflich, dass wir uns erst mal überlegt haben, wieder zu gehen. Anstelle eines Zweier- Katzentischs wollten wir an einem Vierertisch Platz nehmen, was uns mit knappen Worten (nein - das ist ein Vierertisch) verwehrt wurde. Eine halbe Stunde später saßen dort zwei Gäste! Die Bedienung am Tisch war dagegen sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Frühstücks-Angebot ist insgesamt zu teuer, aber vielleicht enthalten die Preise einen Aufschlag für die phantastische Lage.

Been there 06/28/24: Three people were there. Very nice location, food (snack) was very nicely prepared and tasted good. The service stood out very positively. Everyone was very pleasant, customer focused and knowledgeable. That's how you imagine it. A very successful Friday afternoon.

We had reserved a table for two people in advance and got a nice table on the terrace. Unfortunately, it is a bit difficult for people with walking difficulties and older people to sit there, as this terrace can only be reached via steps. I would if that were the case when I made the reservation, as there are other seats in the restaurant. We were served nicely and quickly. We ordered the corn-fed chicken and the duck. Both tasted good, although the portion with the corn-fed chicken could be a bit tight for a good eater. The homemade lemonade is very tasty. Price-wise for a high-end tavern. We would come back on another visit to Bamberg.

Steak very good, fish a bit bland. Wine cooler too full, overflowed twice. I don't know why you can't smoke outside and have to go outside the Hotel Nepomuk.

An absolute top-class culinary experience! We travel a lot for work and therefore eat out a lot. We were pleasantly surprised and agreed that the food at Das Eckerts belongs to the fine dining category. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with a wealth of experience.

The food was really delicious, there are also vegan alternatives - the chickpea curry with rice is recommended. If you have gluten intolerance, it was also possible to modify a dish upon request.

Relatively expensive for breakfast... A basic breakfast, everything else you have to order...

We spent the afternoon of our civil wedding on the Eckerts roof terrace with coffee and cake with 35 guests. Everything was wonderful: delicious cakes, super friendly and attentive service and a wonderful atmosphere. As a highlight, the music club was even allowed to perform a surprise serenade from the neighboring Klosterbräu roof terrace. The organization and arrangements in advance were also uncomplicated and reliable. Many thanks again to the entire team!
