Hello..the service team was very nice and competent...but I can't say that about the chef. For 25 euros to be served a pepper cream schnitzel that was too dark and too dry and chewy is not possible for this price range.If you're already in... When you pick up the bag, you expect the chef to care about the quality. Unfortunately, I have to agree with a few...not recommended 🤔

Giessen residents are probably used to large portions, which not everyone can handle. Half portions at a slightly cheaper price might be a good idea.

A charming restaurant. The staff (in this case a lady) treated us very kindly and always with great joy. He speaks German and very good English. Delicious "drool drop" food. At the time we arrived (1:30 p.m. +/-) there were few people (it was Sunday) but around 2:00 p.m. it started to get lively. The decoration took us back centuries, we really liked it. Adequate quality/price. We will repeat when we return to Germany.

We came across this restaurant by chance and the good reviews are justified. We had schnitzel and napkin dumplings with goat cheese and it tasted very good! It's not cheap, but you're happy to pay a little more for a delicious meal. The service was super nice and it's nice to sit in the beer garden under the old trees. We'll definitely be back

Absolute top address for good food in Giessen, we have been there several times, there are always seasonal dishes in addition to the normal menu, everything we have tried so far has been very tasty and recommended. Everything tastes fresh and is well prepared. We'd love to come back

Nice restaurant in a central location, parking is available on the side street. The service was super friendly and attentive from start to finish. The restaurant is very nicely decorated - arrive and feel at home. There is a seasonally changing menu in addition to the permanent offer. The products are sourced regionally. The quality of the products is also advertised on the menu. On my last visit I had liver dumpling soup as a starter and veal cordon bleu with fries and salad as my main course. I was completely satisfied with both. Super tasty soup with plenty of ingredients, which was served hot, just as a soup should be. The veal cordon bleu was super tender and the filling was just right. Fries nice and crispy and salted just right. The fresh salad rounded it all off. The prices are a little higher depending on the quality of the products, but they are definitely worth the price. I'd be happy to come back!

Sorry, but €28.90 for a pork schnitzel is a little steep. Regionally okay, but other restaurants also offer that. And this in a city whose residents are almost a quarter made up of students. You should calculate something differently.

Nice restaurant with old fashion equipment but ugly toilets in basement. automat with condoms empty..3 waitress take care about our team, youngest one was little bit confused but ok. Liquers and destilates are not part od main menu. They offer only some local producer but it was good. Food was goos but nothing special. Bellschou is a big pork meatball covered with cheddar but inside it was dry. Big fries are very good. Lots of beers and wine in menu. Definitive recommend!!👍

I haven't eaten something so tasty in a long time. Very generously cooked and served with love on the plate. Attractive starters, friendly staff and the dirndl fits the ambience wonderfully. This restaurant is without any ifs and buts one of the best in Giessen. Upscale home-style cuisine at the highest level in a rustic, pleasant ambience. The attention to detail in the design of the interior can be seen in every corner of the restaurant. What should be highlighted is the outstanding service. The nice conditions fulfilled our every wish and were courteous and very attentive. All in all, worth the trip.

I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant for a business lunch, specializing in German cuisine, which posed a bit of a challenge for me as a vegetarian. The interior and service of the restaurant are phenomenal, it's meticulously crafted down to every detail! The vegetarian food was average; the beetroot carpaccio was decent, but the walnut dumplings were definitely not to my taste, although there wasn't another option. The sweet snacks were good, served warm. The place is absolutely exceptional, but it's definitely not a vegetarian-friendly spot.

I scratched my seat. it was very painful. Maybe the tables are specifically designed that way, but I don't know for sure. We waited so long for our food that we drank an entire large cup. Coffee is served in very small cups and there is little mayonnaise

Since we were staying at the B&B hotel, we were looking for a slightly better restaurant nearby. As a precaution, reserve two days in advance. And that was exactly right, because Justus was full. Little happens spontaneously. Very friendly and attentive service in a rustic atmosphere. The menu is clear and regionally oriented. Even though it was busy, we were served quickly. A greeting from the kitchen shortened the time, even though that wasn't necessary. The food came within 20 minutes - and it was hot. Very good portions and really tasty. We had spare ribs and Schäufele, dark draft beer and a mild Williams Christ as a nightcap. I'm happy to pay for so much quality, taste and service and will definitely stop by again next time I'm in Giessen.

Always very happy, very tasty food. And a great ambience. You just have to book a table early enough to enjoy it. That was in 2020 * Now about 4 years have passed. Today I was back in the Justus I loved so much back then. Unfortunately, all that remains is the ambience and the friendly service. The prices are totally exorbitant. A Giessen bark shoe, which unfortunately has nothing to do with a bark shoe for me, costs 22.80 euros. That's definitely over 7 euros. And everything else is unfortunately completely exaggerated. Very unfortunate in my opinion. Times are changing. And unfortunately I have one less favorite restaurant...

Schnitzel very dry. Fries not cooked through. Service inflexible. Also very expensive for the quality offered. If you want to eat good schnitzel, you shouldn't go here.

The food at Justus is good, the service was excellent and the waiting time was reasonable. Depending on the season, you can also get cheese fondue at Justus. A look at the homepage or a call is enough to ask. There are also some delicious beers to choose from.

Here you can find delicious schnitzels, delicious vegetarian dishes and much more. The service is very good and the atmosphere is rustic. We recommend!

1. Drinks will be replaced with alternatives without prior notice. Instead of cola, Pepsi etc. 2. Organic doesn't make good meat... Everything is very expensive and labeled as organic. Nevertheless, the pork loin was a crime. 3. The waitress comes to collect with the phone to her ear and has a private conversation and doesn't even thank you for the tip. No recommendation.

Creamy schnitzel with fries to take away. The whole thing twice makes 51.80 euros. So 1x costs 25.90 euros. Ok quality costs.... but that.... 🤮 ok salad was fresh and good. Both schnitzels tasted like they were from the fridge. I was looking for sauce. It was dry. There aren't many restaurants where I wouldn't give it a second chance... but never there again!!!! Sorry but it doesn't work I would have liked to have put a picture... Guys, I love restaurants... I love going out to eat... but that was little like little like nothing.

Unfortunately there were no more fries when we were there, but that wasn't a big deal, the fried potatoes are also super tasty ☺️ That wasn't the last time! ☝🏻

Super expensive with nice flair. Please do not get this wrong. Good quality costs money and I'm happy to pay reasonable prices for good quality. However, the prices at Justus are really steep and the portions of the vegetarian dishes really leave a lot to be desired for the price.

Very tasty food and homemade lemonade and a large selection of draft beers ensured a pleasant evening in a casual atmosphere. I haven't eaten so well in a long time. Hessian dishes with a modern twist. Great!

Cozy bourgeois atmosphere. We enjoyed the venison goulash and the goose leg in the run-up to Christmas. We deducted one point because the food was only warm and not hot, and unfortunately it cooled down very quickly on the unheated plates, which we also told the waitress. The female waiter was very friendly, attentive, personable and approachable. Gladly again Comment on the owner's answer: We visited the restaurant during the Corona Christmas season 2021 and there was (!) the same goose leg. We do not know why the review was published so much later.

Good food, large portions, service keeps an eye on all orders. The food for 9 people arrived well coordinated and at the same time. Even though it was very full, people kept checking to see if anyone else needed drinks. Very friendly. Ambience is rustic and not my thing, but OK and cozy. It took a while to be served, but as I said, it was very, very full. And it didn't take too long.

Absolute Spitze. Das Essen war super und das ganze Personal war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir kommen garantiert wieder.

Das Personal ist leider häufig unsicher. Das ist mir schon drei, vier Mal passiert. Ansonsten ist sowohl die Getränkekarte als auch die Küche gut, die Räumlichkeiten sind gemütlich, und die Lage ist sehr zentral zwischen Seltersweg und Bahnhof.

Das Essen ist gut. Unglaublich war aber der Service: Total freundlich, sympathisch, hilfsbereit und kundenorientiert - durch die Bank! Dazu das urig-charmante Ambiente, ein toller Abend und gerne wieder.

Das Ambiente im Gastraum ist gemütlich rustikal. Auch war mein Essen qualitativ gut. Deutlichen Punktabzug gibt es allerdings von mir für den Umgang mit Kundenwünschen. Ich habe bei der Bedienung angefragt, ob es die Möglichkeit besteht Hauptgerichte als kleine Portionen oder die Kinderkarte zu bekommen, da ich aus medizinischen Gründen nicht viel essen kann. Diese Anfrage wurde mit "Nein, das machen wir nicht. Dann nehmen sie die Reste mit" abgetan. Als ich dann darum bat mir eben diese Reste einzupacken erhielt ich zur Antwort: "Nein, das mache ich nicht, das müssen sie selbst umfüllen." Ich gehe oft auswärts essen und bin doch sehr irritiert darüber wie mit meiner Anfrage umgegangen wurde. Besonders mit Blick auf die gehobenen Preise (kein Hauptgang unter 20€) erwarte ich mehr Entgegenkommen des Service.

.. Eines unserer Stammlokale. Immer sehr freundlich und zeit für nen Plausch, trotz eigentlich immer vollem Haus. Speisekarte saisonal wechselnd, man findet immer was, haben noch nichts gegessen was nicht geschmeckt hat. Dazu noch 8(?) Biere vom Fass... Bis bald 😊

Mittagsangebote für 10€ sind super, die normalen Preise hingegen deutlich zu ambitioniert für die mittelmäßig-uninspirierte deutsche Küche, die man dort geboten bekommt. Wenn man 30€ für ein Hauptgericht verlangt, sollte man dafür sorgen, dass es etwas Außergewöhnliches ist. Ist es bei Justus aber nicht. Noch nicht mal nen Beilagensalat gab's dazu.

Es war ok, nur meines Empfindens ist zu teuer und das Essen nicht richtig warm war, daher erkennt man, dass die Gerichte sind aufgewärmt.

Tolles und leckeres Essen, einfach fantastisch. Hoffe ihr haltet das Niveau. Preise sind gut. Der Mittagstisch war echt günstig, ich war überrascht. Ambiete fand ich super, mal so ein richtig gutes Restaurant. Aber die Bedienung war der Knaller, freundlich, professionell und vor allem hatte die den Laden im Griff. Die gute Frau müsste ihr behalten. Eine echte Rarität, so was habe lange nicht mehr gesehen. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder, auch wenn die Anfahrt es was lang ist. Egal, das ist es wert.

Ein sehr gutes,rustikales Restaurant, wir waren sehr begeistert, der Service war 5 Sterne plus, sehr aufmerksam, das Essen sehr gut, haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt. Kommen gerne wieder.

Wir waren mit einer Gruppe dort, ein wirklich tolles Ambiente, ich war zum ersten Mal dort und mit Sicherheit nicht das letzte mal. Der Service wirklich einfach nur super, und wirklich viele Biersorten vom Fass serviert im gekühlten Krug, perfekter geht es nicht. Das Ganze wurde dann noch abgerundet durch sehr gutes Essen der deutschen Küche. All das bedingt natürlich, dass man am Besten reservieren sollte um sicher zu gehen einen Platz zu bekommen, als Gruppe.

Das Ambiente ist wirklich sehr schön, ich war in unregelmässigen Abständen immer einmal in diesem Restaurant. Diesmal hat es mir gar nicht gefallen. Durch einen unglücklichen Umstand wurden 2 meiner Freunde durch ein abrutschendes Tablett mit Getränken begossen - hier hätte ich wirklich erwartet, dass den Beiden ein Schnaps oder ein Kaffee oder ein Dessert kostenlos angeboten würde. Es kam nichts. Das Essen selber ist unterdessen schon hochpreisig - ich hatte einen hessischen Bellschuch bestellt. Das esse ich sehr gerne wenn ich in einem Restaurant bin, das sich mit Hessen a la carte schmuckt. Aber hier war ich tatsächlich sehr enttäuscht. Bellschuch ist ja eine Frikadelle aus Rinderhack, ursprünglich nur mit Pfeffer und Salz gewürzt. Was mir da serviert wurde, hmm. Vielleicht sollte sich der Koch doch einmal um ein original Rezept bemühen.

Das Justus ist ein sehr schönes Lokal mit einem guten Speisenangebot. Leider sind die Preise mittlerweile absolut überzogen!! Die Anfahrt durch die Innenstadt Gießen macht einen Besuch zusätzlich unattraktiv, wozu das Justus natürlich nichts kann.

Liebhaber der deutschen/bayrischen küche kommen hier voll auf ihre Kosten. Das Essen ist überdurchschnittlich gut und man wartet nicht lange. Personal sehr freundlich und engagiert.
