That was great! Today we were visiting Freiburg and stopped at JORIS for lunch. I'm not a tofu "fan" nor am I a vegan. But I thought, in an organic restaurant they will have some idea about it, so give it a try. 😂 I ordered smoked tofu schnitzel with cranberry pear chutney, fried potatoes and salad - and it was all super good 👍🏻 I'll be happy to come back next time I'm in Freiburg!

We have been to Joris many times and have always been impressed by the quality of the food. It's so delicious and there's something for everyone! Especially in summer you can sit outside very nicely and quietly. In winter you should reserve well in advance because the indoor area doesn't have that many seats. Thank you and see you soon :)

Positive: - attentive and friendly service - high quality of ingredients - also vegan and vegetarian alternatives - the falafel balls were very tasty, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside - the tiramisu was a dream with homemade fruit compote, very cleverly seasoned and presented - I always find a greeting from the kitchen very nice Negative - the homemade lemonade was a bit boring and bland in my opinion. I would have liked more sophistication. Maybe with fresh mint, another flavor or something similar... - the Käspätzle is homemade but also a bit bland. A customer at the neighboring table also ate the spaetzle and asked for additional salt. Ultimately, it's not a bad thing since you can add more salt - the garlic mayo was too sour for my taste, there was probably a lot of lemon or vinegar in it - I find the ambience to be a bit uncomfortable, and the chairs don't invite you to linger for long. All in all, it's worth a visit because the quality of the food is high and (almost) everything is homemade ;)

Nice, cozy, familiar, small restaurant. Very high quality and delicious food. Also vegetarian and vegan dishes. Personally, I think 15 € for homemade spaetzle with champion cream sauce is too high, but the prices of the other dishes are fair. Clear recommendation outside the mainstream.

If you’re gluten intolerant, this is the only place for breakfast food worth your time. Very affordable and the GF bread is high quality. Many places claim to be GF, but only take away the bread from your meal and charge you full price. JORIS won’t let you go hungry!! 👏

Den einen Stern gibt es für die Entschuldigung des Kellners. Die Null Sterne für Organisation und Professionalität. Drei Sterne für den netten Außenbereich mit Hasen. Aber alles etwas chaotisch, mehr dazu in der folgenden Geschichte. Das Essen können wir leider nicht bewerten, weil es nie dazu kam😔. Was uns hier passiert ist, ist wirklich kaum zu glauben. Eigentlich lustig, wenn man keine drei hungrige Kinder dabei hat. Die unglaubliche Geschichte: Drei Tage vor dem besagten Tag habe ich einen Tisch reserviert für zehn Personen um die Einschulung unsrer Tochter zu feiern. Mir wurde gesagt, dass ICH zusätzlich noch Email-Kontakt zur Küche aufnehmen solle, damit diese besser planen könne😄. Dies tat ich und bekam auch eine nette Antwort zurück, dass sich das Team auf uns freue. An besagtem Tag kamen wir etwas früher als ursprünglich reserviert, meldeten uns an und stießen dann auf etwas verwirrte Gesichter. Dann warteten wir also brav vor dem Restaurant und durften schließlich sogar fünf Minuten vor der eigentlichen Reservierung an einen Achtertisch (für Zehn!) mit einem netten älteren Herr sitzen, der dort noch aß😁. Da es für uns zehn Personen jedoch wirklich zu eng war, wechselten wir nachdem wir die Bedienung gefragt hatten, an einen noch freien größeren Tisch. Dort durften wir aber nur Getränke bestellen, weil die Küche wohl noch etwas überfordert sei aktuell. Dabei standen noch verschiedene Filmteamleute herum, die wohl gerade eine Filmszene oder so von den Gästen drehten. Eine sehr skurille Situation. Nach ca. 15 Minuten kam der Kellner mit der Info, dass es ihm leid tue, wir aber leider nix mehr zu Essen bekämen !...und uns ist allen die Kinnlade heruntergefallen. Alles Essen bis auf zwei Teller sei aus. 🫣. Das Trinken könnten wir aber haben, wenn wir wollten. Ich habe dann direkt vor Ort mein ehrliches Feedback dazu gegeben, weil ich eine ehrliche Kommunikation wichtig finde: neben telefonischer Reservierung auch noch per Email zur besseren Planbarkeit die Küche informieren habe ich bislang noch nie gemacht. Ich dachte aber, wenn es hilft, dann mache ich es eben....und dann sowas... das ist echt sehr sehr unprofessionell und chaotisch um es noch freundlich zu sagen. Dem armen Kellner habe ich dies evtl. leider etwas emotionaler gesagt, was ich von dieser Aktion halte, aber ich war eben hungrig 🙈. Also lange Rede, kurzer Sinn: die Organisation war zumindest an diesem Tag nicht existent. Vielleicht klappt es ja aber an anderen Tagen besser. Ich wünsche viel Erfolg dabei, ganz ehrlich! Nachtrag vom 16.9. : Der Chef hat soeben angerufen und sich für die unglückliche Aktion entschuldigt. Für diesen menschlichen guten Umgang mit Fehlern, die nun mal passieren, gibt es 5 Sterne!

Das Essen ist wirklich super! Auch das Ambiente ist schön, ruhig gelegen in einem Innenhof. Komme gerne und oft ins Joris. Leider lässt der Service wirklich zu wünschen übrig, man wartet ewig und wird teilweise sogar ignoriert, sodass man sich irgendwann selbst bemerkbar machen muss. Das ist sehr schade, da einem die Zeit im Joris daher nicht so gut in Erinnerung bleibt. Naja vllt ändert sich ja mal was, ansonsten werde ich bald lieber woanders hingehen..

Super nettes Personal, sehr aufmerksam. Wir hatten Falaffel und Kartoffelgratin. Beim Gratin war ein soooo leckeres Pesto dabei, genial! Alles hat seht gut geschmeckt und die Portionen hatten eine gute Grösse. Ich kann es hier nur empfehlen!

Liebes Joris-Team, wir haben uns super wohl bei euch gefühlt. Danke, dass ihr unsere Mitarbeiteressen so schön gestaltet habt. Das Essen war bestens, der Service herausragend, das Ambiente wunderschön – also es passte alles perfekt. Von allen bisher besuchten Lokalen, hat es uns bei euch am besten gefallen. Das lag natürlich auch an den oben genannten Aspekten. Wir fanden aber auch die Akustik in dem kleinen Nebenraum sehr angenehm. Obwohl der Raum ja sehr voll war, konnte man sich prima unterhalten.

I ate the best Dürürm ever here! The bread is baked right in front of you, the vegetables are fresh and crunchy and the meat is tender. The amount of sauce is perfect (not too much that the Dürüm is floating in it and not too little). In addition, clean work and friendly staff. I can only recommend it!

Fifth visit Feb2025 Prosciutto and funghi This time the dough wasn't as fluffy as usual. Apparently the rising time or processing was not perfect. Allo schiaffo?Grade 3 Distribution of ingredients, centering too much material. The result is that it is difficult to bake evenly and the topping is slightly runny. More attention to detail would be great, it makes a huge difference. Grade 3 Good ingredients as usual, tasty mushrooms and a good tomato sauce. Grade 2 In my opinion the ham is not great, there is room for improvement here. Grade 2- Otherwise, the overall grade has always been 1 to 2, a really good pizza romana. I hope that the reviews are well received and that we aim for a grade 1- in the future, you are a great team, you feel very comfortable as a guest and you have already proven several times that you have the potential to make the best Romana pizza in FR. 👌Looking forward to my next visit and a top 🍕 Fourth visit, January 2025. Pizza Prosciutto e Funghi was very good again. My wish is always to get the perfect pizza. As already mentioned in my last reviews, the craft is mastered and you generally get a good to very good pizza according to Italian standards. A very thinly sliced high-quality ham from Italy would have improved the overall result this time. In general, the criticism here is at a high level. Keep it up👌 When it comes to service, the staff are always attentive and approach customers as soon as drinks run out, great service. They are showing consistency here and in my opinion have improved to a very good level. I now give 5 stars for service. 2025 and prices are known to rise everywhere. Here I would like to see more sensitivity in various positions on the map. I emphasize that the prices are not exorbitant and are certainly standard, but using the example of a bruschetta as a starter, it would be nice if it were advertised as such. I think there should be some room for improvement 👍 Suggestion: Marketing for lower prices could be to give out clever prizes. In my opinion, the goal should be to advertise a menu consisting of a meal and a drink in such a way that the amount is low but the customer still aims to pay their tip. Instead of the pizza costing 10.50 euros and the drink 3.90 euros, which leads to a total price of 14.40 euros and the customer would most likely pay 15 euros with a tip, the approach could be to choose this price trap in such a way that it looks more visually appealing and still encourages the tip to be rounded up🤔. The customer would certainly still give 15Eur at 13.80Eur. Roman style of pizza, the dough is perfectly baked without burns, crispy without crumbling, the ingredients are of high quality and the distribution and quantity of the ingredients are chosen so that everything is cooked. is very close to an Italian pizza in Italy. As a big pizza lover and connoisseur, I am giving top marks for the pizza at a German pizzeria for the first time. Priced also very fair and reasonable. (grade 1) The service is authentic, loving and uncomplicated with Italian flair. (grade 2+) The atmosphere is cozy, warm sheepskins on the leather benches invite you to linger for a while (grade 2-) The kitchen is completely visible, including new professional work equipment, overall very clean and well maintained. (grade 1-) parking facilities are very good (grade 1) Overall, this pizzeria is, for me, the best in the greater Freiburg area. a real insider tip.

Update November: Since I have already had pizza made by all the bakers in the pizzeria, I can assure everyone here that these guys really put a lot of passion into their work and you can taste it. The pizza crust was slightly burnt. The baker admits his mistake. It happens quickly in a pizzeria when the phone rings and there is a huge rush, the baker has to answer the phone because the driver is on the way, then he is back at the oven 10 seconds late and 10 seconds of baking time is a world away. The balancing act is very difficult to manage because it cannot be planned. But since the pizza is almost always perfect, there is nothing to complain about. Pizza tastes huge despite the small burn marks. Grande👌 Top dough, handmade, extremely fluffy edge, very good distribution of ingredients and no overload, non-slip surface. 95% just to the point as usual. Update September 24: My first top reviews are confirmed again. I'll leave the old text and continue writing at the end because unfortunately you're only allowed to rate it once. First update spring 24: This time I ordered a Margherita for myself and my friends ordered various other pizzas, including a calzone. This time I was in a pizzeria that wasn't really attractive anymore. You don't go there voluntarily. It is currently under renovation and is therefore no longer as beautiful as it once was. Back then I would have given 3 stars for the ambience, currently it's more like 1 star. I usually only consciously evaluate the food and the kitchen, including cleanliness, because in my eyes it's about the art of pizza. However, I would like to make this pizzeria palatable to the ambience critics despite the negative assessment of the ambience. The cleanliness should be emphasized first and foremost, top by German standards and the kitchen is also fully visible Grade2. The pizzas are of the finest craftsmanship. (For me, the best Neapolitan pizza in all of Germany of all the ones I know so far are a few ☺️) Only original Italian ingredients are used for the dough, except for the water. The toppings are fresh, locally sourced and the meat is all halal. When I tried to order my favorite pizza Prosciutto e Funghi there, I didn't like the taste of the halal meat (exactly the same) as Italian prosciutto, so I'm now sticking exclusively with vegetarian products. The pizzas are Neapolitan style, the dough is prepared by hand (it remains airier than with a rolling pin) with a high, fluffy edge and a very thin, crispy base. The topping is the Italian standard, just enough of each ingredient so that everything is cooked and nothing drips (this is noticeable when eating the pizza pieces with your hand when the topping doesn't slip off the dough but everything stays in place) The electric oven is very well controlled and overall the toppings are all cooked through with almost no black burn marks on the edges. Completely Italian standard with the top grade 1 for this. Even in Italy you can't find such good pizzas everywhere. Everything was cooked through with the calzone too. No dripping of fat or liquids on the plate when consumed. Supreme discipline with the top grade 1. The staff have an extremely warm manner. You feel very welcome as a guest and, if you wish, you can easily start a conversation. Many thanks to the Torino team, you are an asset to Freiburg. Keep it up👌 Update September 24: A real pleasure, simply top in every respect. Try it out and see for yourself 👌 When it comes to awarding grades, I would improve the ambience from 1 to 2 stars. 😎 At the moment it's still more of a delivery service than an on-site pizzeria, but now you can also sit outside on a terrace with up to 10 people, although it's exposed, but the traffic is quite limited and not very disruptive. The charm and friendly nature of the team definitely make up for the imperfect ambience.

Very nice shop. You can order from a vending machine and then take your food with you or eat there. Unfortunately, the selection isn't very big and there aren't many places to sit inside. But the food was delicious (better than in Enchilda) and I've been there several times. Is recommended
