Red cabbage from the bucket. Dumplings of similar quality. The toilet, kitchen, and beer glass were shockingly dirty.

We were completely satisfied. The schnitzels were large and absolutely delicious! The Kaiserschmarrn afterward was also good. Very friendly service.

We spent three days in Berlin and ate here every night. Whether it was liver, sauerbraten, schnitzel, or Königsberger Klopse, every dish tasted wonderful. If you like traditional German cuisine, this is the place to go. The price/performance ratio is absolutely spot on, and the service is excellent. The ambiance is cozy, but not comparable to a 5-star restaurant. But it doesn't claim to be a tavern either. We're already looking forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you, Uli and Renata

We were at Venus this weekend (you can save your money) and then went to this restaurant afterwards. The atmosphere was good, but the restrooms could use an upgrade 😊. Our waitress (a petite blonde lady) was very nice, always smiling and very attentive. Really great staff, which is becoming increasingly rare these days. We had a cucumber salad as a starter (very tasty). A classic pork schnitzel with fried potatoes. And currywurst with fries, coleslaw and spicy onions. The food was tasty and home-style, but not 5/5, more of a solid 4 😊 The prices were reasonable, including two large drinks, we paid €55.

There were two of us there. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. The prices were justified, actually quite reasonable for the taste and size. The waitress came quickly, about two minutes after we were seated. Friendly service, and special requests were no problem either. The only thing that bothered some people is that if you sit outside, you're right next to the road and a large roundabout, you can hear cars. The interior is very nicely designed and offers plenty of space. You can't hear the cars inside, and outside noises are generally very muffled and inaudible.

We often visit this place, usually in combination with a visit to the Wühlmäuse theater. "Joe's" is very special; the decor is very stylish and a bit old-fashioned, which I like. The service is of varying quality, but overall, it's poorly organized, which is a shame. On the other hand, the beer 🍺 is delicious and the prices are moderate, especially the changing "Business Lunch" daily until 5 p.m. for €9.80. The large Aperol Spritz is also highly recommended. Overall, I'd be happy to come back.

The food was okay - a bit lackluster in its presentation; I've had better. Unfortunately, the service was really overwhelmed; two servers for inside and outside, plus bar service, etc. This inevitably meant that the service suffered, which is a shame. We actually wanted to order dessert and more drinks, but then decided to pay the bill because of the wait. I accommodated the wait staff and paid directly at the counter to avoid further waiting. The server was friendly and tried to make the best of it. To the owners: IFA, nice weather, weekend, larger/multiple table orders = more staff!

Worst restaurant experience of my life. I have never experienced a more rude waiter, he got even angrier because we tipped minimally, I think he was mentally ill and couldn't add up 1+1 i.e. good service, more tip... I am normally always too generous with tips, but this was out of reach for what a guest should experience in a restaurant! When we explained it a little more carefully he got even angrier.. I should add that I worked in the industry for a few years in my younger years, so I have a lot of respect and understanding for the profession. Too bad for a nice place, luckily there is a fantastic selection in Berlin otherwise and above all warm people.

I was actually thrown out of the restaurant because I didn't want to order a drink with the daily special. I've never experienced anything like that before. The waiter became rude when I said I worked next door and had already had a drink, which should have been perfectly legitimate. Instead of customer service, I received rude replies and was eventually asked to leave.

Before a theater visit, we simply decided on this place because it was chanterelle season and it was advertised outside the restaurant. Friendly service. The wait was reasonable for the food, and it was very tasty. There were chanterelles, of course, and there were plenty of them on the plate. I can recommend it. The price-performance ratio is good.

Nice, very attentive staff on Saturday evening. That's why we decided to have our family meal there on Sunday lunchtime. That was an unpleasant experience. The food was still good, but it turned out that children weren't welcome. The service was slow from the start. When the glasses were empty, I went to the counter myself after about 20 minutes. We were never asked if we wanted something to drink, even when a member of staff came to our table. The older lady who approached us because of our child didn't even introduce herself and actually wanted to make it clear to us that our child was a nuisance. She was completely peaceful and just wandered around the restaurant without bothering anyone. The high chair that was tucked away in a corner was also not offered. My husband had to go to the counter to pay and was given a rather arrogant response. No tip, definitely not worth a visit.

Joe’s: Delicious Traditional German Food, but Unfriendly Service Joe’s serves authentic and delicious German cuisine, but unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. We visited on a Thursday for lunch, and while the restaurant was bustling with locals and a bit understaffed, we were patient with the wait time. However, what truly disappointed us was the rude and impatient attitude of our server. When we asked about the types of beer available—since we are not German and unfamiliar with the selection—the waiter barely gave us 10 seconds before snapping: "Do you know what you want? If not, I’ll go to another table." It felt unnecessarily arrogant and unwelcoming. On the bright side, the food was excellent—probably the best we had during our trip to Berlin. It was served quickly, and the flavors were truly traditional and well-executed. Overall, if you're looking for great German food and can tolerate cold, impatient service, this place is worth a visit. But if hospitality is important to you, you might want to think twice.

We wanted to eat there and waited 45 minutes to order. I had spare ribs and my wife had goulash soup. The goulash soup I got back was inedible, and the spare ribs were old. I understand that they pre-cook and then heat them up, but they just tasted old. Never again

We were guests on August 7, 2025. First, the positive: the food was good. However, the service could have been improved. Although we were there at a time when the restaurant wasn't too busy, we still had to wait quite a long time before the waiter bothered to serve us. The busier it was, the longer the wait. Clearing the table after dinner was a non-existent occurrence. At around 9:10 p.m., we tried to place a final drink order, but nothing was done. At 9:30 p.m., I finally went in and complained to the server that no one had taken care of it, despite our repeated attempts. His response was that he had to leave by 10 p.m. I then asked for my bill and, due to his dissatisfaction, left a rather small tip. His comment about tipping was that I still have to bring money for the kitchen. A one-off for me, and I'll never go back to this restaurant.

Joe's is a rustic, cozy restaurant. Wed man a beer 🍺and another Getränke trinken kann. Es hat ein Deutsche Küche. Es hat mir gut geschmeckt! It is possible to have good traffic connections. Vielen Bussen and U-Bahn U2 stops at the Theodor-Heuss-Platz. Parkplätze, Parkgebühr an der Straße. A single stretch of skiing. Joe's is a cozy rustic cafe restaurant. You can eat well there and drink a beer, coffee or something else. It has a German kitchen and I really enjoyed it. Easily accessible by public traffic. Many buses and the U2 stop at or near Theodor-Heuss-Platz. Parking is available, with paid parking on the street. It's a short walk.

Amazing food for great price and extreme nice staff!

It's nice that there are restaurants that are flexible. When I mentioned that I needed something gluten-free for my meal, the very friendly waitress told me to first look at the menu to see what I was craving, and then she would check if the dish was also available gluten-free. It worked out perfectly. That's what you want.

It was a good time to stop by Joe's for a bite to eat while we were attending a concert. We had reserved a table, checked in at the hotel was quick, and soon we were sitting here on the terrace. The service was very friendly, and the food was plentiful and delicious. We were almost stuffed from the amazing goulash soup with lots of meat. I couldn't even finish my chanterelle mushrooms. After the concert, we wanted to have a beer there. Unfortunately, that didn't work out because they were just closing time. It's a shame, but I would definitely recommend the restaurant.

The food was super delicious and there was a lot of it. We sat outside that evening and can highly recommend Joe's Wirtshaus. The service was very friendly, even though she was obviously doing everything herself. We made a reservation, and that was a good thing at 6 p.m. We used it before a visit to the "Wühlmäuse" theater, as it's only a one-minute walk away. 80% of the other guests in the restaurant did the same. The prices are also below average. We'll be doing it again from now on, as it was actually the best part of the evening! Thank you so much again.

June 12, 2025 – 1:00 p.m. Extremely unfriendly, irritated waitress on the outdoor terrace (black clothing, long dark hair tied in a ponytail, black sunglasses pinned in her hair, silver hoop earrings). No smile. Short, curt questions and answers. Rolls her eyes when a guest asks about a lost or forgotten item after their restaurant visit. Doesn't greet you at the entrance or simply leaves you standing there. You feel absolutely unwelcome here. This demeanor can't be explained away by a "Berlin accent."

I would give 0 if i could. extremely rude staff. avoid this place at all cost even if you are starving.

Very rude service, pretending not to see me. I got a badly burnt schnitzel with a raw egg. When I asked for a portion, I was simply thrown into the oil. I can't recommend it; the service is terrible. When I explained the problem, they started making fun of me.

I waited a long time to order, and the soup with the noodles was tasteless and a waste of money. Unfortunately, the meatballs weren't much better, and the service? Help! The guest threatened me with work and reminded me of the old GDR days. The waiter is the boss, and the guest should be happy to be noticed.

Today was our first time at Joes, and we were absolutely thrilled. Delicious food at a great price. Large portions. The service is very attentive and extremely friendly. We'll definitely go back to Joes the next time we visit Berlin.

Nice location with a beer garden right on the busy Theodor Heuss Platz. The service was very friendly. The food was absolutely disappointing. The asparagus soup was so thick that the spoon could stand up in it. Tasted okay after adding a lot of salt. The hunter's schnitzel was carelessly cooked without decoration, with a pale breading, some of it burnt, but served with greasy fried potatoes that had no bite. The mushroom sauce was more of a paste than a sauce, with no flavor highlights. The eye doesn't eat with you here, hunger drives it down. A real shame. We won't be coming back for dinner.

The service really deserves 6 stars. We were a large group, and it was incredibly busy. There were only two people who managed everything, who remembered everything perfectly, and who remained incredibly friendly and humorous despite all the stress! It was outstanding. The food was very, very good. I had veal liver, which not everyone can make, but Joe's Wirtshaus does it perfectly. A traditional Berlin restaurant with a lovely, authentic atmosphere, and you feel very valued and completely at home as a guest. Many thanks to the wonderful service team!

Be prepared if you don't speak German - the senior male waiter's gonna charge you 19% tip for no reason and absolute no service at all. He wouldn't give a shit to you - I dare say. The dining experience was not a problem at all, as we both enjoyed the food very much. What happened was, after asking for the bill (remember, here is Berlin, a city / the capital of Germany) we waited for more than 15 minutes and still did not get the bill, WHEREAS other customers who asked for the bill LATER then us got their bills and paid even EARLIER THAN US. So we asked, once again, for the bill from less senior waiter. He said to us it was the senior waiter who took our order responsible for the payment... Ultimately still not receiving the bill, we went to the counter and the senior waiter charged us 70€ without any explanation! The card reader and 70€ with no detailed invoice or bill!! So my partner and I just got 2 white asparagus cream soup (approx. 7€, each), 1 currywurst with french frieds and sauerkraut (approx. 16€) and 1 dish of white asparagus with pan-fried fish fillets (approx. 28€), costing us in total 58,40€ We were desperate to seek explanation and that senior male shouted "service charge, service charge!" And he now got us the detailed invoice, tax-inclusive price of 58,40€ in total. He charged us 19% tip for such delayed service! He didn't even introduce the menu and suggest us anything! Neither did he mention to us the dish of the day option which would cost only 9,80€! Let's be fair - another pair of customers who ordered 2 dishes of the day, and 1 glass of beer (defo less than 5€). So they paid 1 x 20€ note and coins of not more than 6€ (3 coins in total, max face value of coin in EU is 2€) to that senior male waiter. Guess what they got - a broad grin and gratitude from him! Eventually that waiter even didn't bother discussing with us. He just shouted out like "I have no time" and "Never come back, never come back!" Anyway, thanks to his extraordinary service, we paid only the amount as it was, 58,40€ in exact amount. Now he's got what he deserved - 0€ tip and a heartfelt recommendation not to visit the restaurant or even to tip him anymore. We were there two weeks ago because we had two tickets for the theater “Die Wühlmäuse” across the street and wanted to eat something before the program at 8 p.m. Since we only had three quarters of an hour to spare, we asked for prompt “delivery” when ordering. Result: everything was on the table within just 10 minutes - two beers and two main courses, freshly and very hotly prepared, very good taste quality and large quantity! We were thrilled, especially by the friendliness and competence of the service. The price was also great, very moderate for a capital city. Clear recommendation.

Again and again, when the food for the body and the stomach is on the menu, I go to Joe's Theo! I've never been disappointed over the years, and I'm particularly impressed with the lunch menu: fast food, decent portions and a great price!

Super nice service. We first wanted to go eat next door then I saw sauerbraten and we decided to go in. Then I had the goat cheese with Stalat which was great. Then came the duck, unfortunately the sola wasn't really soft, it was rather tough, but ok, next time I'll have the sauerbraten. We'll be back.ps 25 the goat cheese salad is the reason why I was able to get 20 people to take turns in the winter to at least eat there. To go!!! And they'll come again and again, you'll eat the salad in the summer too. My tip

We reserved a table at 6 p.m. When we were there at 6 p.m., the table for six people was just being pushed together and ready. The menus arrived about 20 minutes later. The food came 1 hour later. Starters were completely forgotten, and the drinks we ordered were also completely forgotten. The breading of the schnitzel was still dough, the potato salad had the appearance of finished potato salad. The service was still very friendly and tried hard, unfortunately completely overwhelmed.

We have been to this restaurant five times and the food is good, but the service is extremely bad. They have always taken a long time to bring us the food, but last time it took more than an hour and the waitress, instead of taking responsibility, blamed us for not ordering the menu of the day (which she didn't tell us about) and to make matters worse, the lady had the nerve to threaten us when we were leaving for not leaving her a tip. Obviously we won't be back.

We, two guests who, in the waitress's opinion, consumed too little (two desserts and a large shandy), were asked loudly and clearly several times today not to make a reservation next time. Without a reservation we wouldn't have been able to get a table, as it is well known that many people around Theodor-Heuss-Platz would like to have something to drink or eat after the theater closes. We cannot recommend the restaurant and there will be no next time. By the way, there is another extremely friendly (dark-haired) waitress who was unfortunately not on duty.

We had made a reservation before going to the theater without knowing it and were absolutely thrilled. This is a really quaint inn with a welcoming atmosphere. Here you can only feel comfortable. There is a lot to marvel at and see. The menu is very extensive and offers very tasty and freshly prepared dishes. The service is friendly and accommodating. It was a great stay. Highly recommended!

I was served egg pancakes with cherry filling that were not lukewarm but ice cold. The waiter's promise was not kept and there was no apology. To avoid further discussion with the waiter, I paid for dessert. Nevertheless, I was verbally insulted.

Warm and friendly, charming service, she loves her job... the food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere rounded everything off... A wonderful, rustic restaurant where the service does not suffer from the number of guests. Personally, I had the feeling that I was visiting nice friends because the relaxed atmosphere rounded off the professionalism. We were here before the voles visited and had a delicious meal. Praise to the kitchen - the food is TOP and the portions are filling 😀. Here you feel comfortable and can be a guest, which unfortunately is no longer the case everywhere at the moment. The price-performance ratio is also convincing. We would love to come back.
