We have been to this restaurant five times and the food is good, but the service is extremely bad. They have always taken a long time to bring us the food, but last time it took more than an hour and the waitress, instead of taking responsibility, blamed us for not ordering the menu of the day (which she didn't tell us about) and to make matters worse, the lady had the nerve to threaten us when we were leaving for not leaving her a tip. Obviously we won't be back.

After 30 minutes of waiting! Making a reservation (made 6 weeks ago) doesn't help because the service doesn't have any signs for it. We get the cat table. There are no starters because the theater has just ended and the chef can't make it. We left! We probably won't come back. 02/22/2025

We reserved a table at 6 p.m. When we were there at 6 p.m., the table for six people was just being pushed together and ready. The menus arrived about 20 minutes later. The food came 1 hour later. Starters were completely forgotten, and the drinks we ordered were also completely forgotten. The breading of the schnitzel was still dough, the potato salad had the appearance of finished potato salad. The service was still very friendly and tried hard, unfortunately completely overwhelmed.

We, two guests who, in the waitress's opinion, consumed too little (two desserts and a large shandy), were asked loudly and clearly several times today not to make a reservation next time. Without a reservation we wouldn't have been able to get a table, as it is well known that many people around Theodor-Heuss-Platz would like to have something to drink or eat after the theater closes. We cannot recommend the restaurant and there will be no next time. By the way, there is another extremely friendly (dark-haired) waitress who was unfortunately not on duty.

We had made a reservation before going to the theater without knowing it and were absolutely thrilled. This is a really quaint inn with a welcoming atmosphere. Here you can only feel comfortable. There is a lot to marvel at and see. The menu is very extensive and offers very tasty and freshly prepared dishes. The service is friendly and accommodating. It was a great stay. Highly recommended!

Classic German cuisine of very good quality. Traditionally very good “Berlin” service. The vegetarian options are rare. To me it seems a bit out of date and maybe that's exactly what I like about it anyway.

Joe’s: Delicious Traditional German Food, but Unfriendly Service Joe’s serves authentic and delicious German cuisine, but unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. We visited on a Thursday for lunch, and while the restaurant was bustling with locals and a bit understaffed, we were patient with the wait time. However, what truly disappointed us was the rude and impatient attitude of our server. When we asked about the types of beer available—since we are not German and unfamiliar with the selection—the waiter barely gave us 10 seconds before snapping: "Do you know what you want? If not, I’ll go to another table." It felt unnecessarily arrogant and unwelcoming. Ironically, the server seemed quite old and possibly the owner, which made the poor hospitality even more surprising. On the bright side, the food was excellent—probably the best we had during our trip to Berlin. It was served quickly, and the flavors were truly traditional and well-executed. Overall, if you're looking for great German food and can tolerate cold, impatient service, this place is worth a visit. But if hospitality is important to you, you might want to think twice.

Super nice service. We first wanted to go eat next door then I saw sauerbraten and we decided to go in. Then I had the goat cheese with Stalat which was great. Then came the duck, unfortunately the sola wasn't really soft, it was rather tough, but ok, next time I'll have the sauerbraten. We'll be back.ps 25 the goat cheese salad is the reason why I was able to get 20 people to take turns in the winter to at least eat there. To go!!! And they'll come again and again, you'll eat the salad in the summer too. My tip

I was served egg pancakes with cherry filling that were not lukewarm but ice cold. The waiter's promise was not kept and there was no apology. To avoid further discussion with the waiter, I paid for dessert. Nevertheless, I was verbally insulted.

The food was the best value for money for me. Very tasty and large enough portions. Prices are clear. Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow and not that friendly. The ambience is so-so. It could be freshened up a bit.

Good midday lunch. Extensive menu and drinks. German cuisine in a nice “old Berlin” atmosphere. In summer you can also sit outside. Reservations are recommended for the evening. Gladly again. Nothing to complain about.

Only found it by chance through the theater next door. It was so great. Warm and friendly, charming service, she loves her job... the food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere rounded everything off... A wonderful, rustic restaurant where the service does not suffer from the number of guests. Personally, I had the feeling that I was visiting nice friends because the relaxed atmosphere rounded off the professionalism. We were here before the voles visited and had a delicious meal. Praise to the kitchen - the food is TOP and the portions are filling 😀. Here you feel comfortable and can be a guest, which unfortunately is no longer the case everywhere at the moment. The price-performance ratio is also convincing. We would love to come back.

If you don't want to enjoy your visit to the restaurant, this is the place for you. “Hello”, “Here you go”, “Thank you” and “Bye” are foreign words here. If there is no tip because of the lack of service, you are honestly just as stupid as before. A few tables thrown together and lacking in style don't exactly make the impression.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my visit to Joe's Inn. The food was okay, but the staff was extremely unfriendly and seemed annoyed. The service overall was very cold and not very attentive. You had the feeling of not being welcome. It's a shame, because the ambience would actually have been quite nice. I hope management works on the friendliness of the team because it can make a big difference.

The business lunch in Joe's Wirtshaus is simply great, a delicious meal with changing dishes at an unbeatable price. The waitresses are all nice and very friendly. I am always very satisfied. A great lunch.

The food is fine but the waiter was incredible. How can you be so unfriendly all the time? We wanted to order: Well, finally found something or can I leave again? Then the next situation: we wanted a dessert after dinner (note, there were 10 of us) and when we asked “Excuse me, may I disturb you for a moment,” the waiter responded with a loud “No.” But the payment was the worst: you don't pay by card, I only get cash...it's funny that the other waitress did it. When there was no tip, the waiter pointed out that a waiter lives on tips and otherwise we don't need to come back. So never again!!!

Children's meals are not on the menu. You have to ask for it 💁. Had the veal schnitzel twice. Unfortunately it wasn't fried nicely brown, and there was far too much breading for the wafer-thin schnitzel (3mm thick at most). Not necessarily worth the price. I would rather celebrate my birthday somewhere else in the future 🤷

Superduper meals and dessert and very friendly staff. It's a cozy restaurant with a lot of interesting features. The only downside was the noise. It was hard to talk and listen. The restaurant was almost full when we came and after a while people left and it was a bit less noisy.

German cuisine. The Jägerschnitzel was excellent! The service was quick and friendly! Absolutely recommended, especially if you want to have dinner or something to drink before the voles 😉

Online reservation worked wonderfully, but the rustic restaurant was not particularly clean or well-maintained. Christmas decorations probably still depend. (before) last year, for Next Christmas is still too early for decoration. Everything is very dusty, stamens have been hanging for a very, very long time, including on the Christmas decorations! Glasses were dirty, still stained with lipstick! Food is okay and tasted good, but the overall impression of the restaurant doesn't make a better rating possible.

I can't understand the bad reviews. We were here for the first time. At 6:30 p.m. the store was full. We received great and warm service. The food was good. The roast had a bit too much mustard on it. The duck and meatloaf with chanterelles were great. We will definitely come back.

The food goes like this. The waiter is really completely inedible. Rude, zero hospitality. Our question about the map was one question too many. Anyone who has such waiters no longer needs enemies. Creepy! Never again!

When I'm in Berlin, I go to the best restaurant in Berlin. My favorites are the beef roulades and the goulash soup. I'm looking forward to next time.

Underground! If it were possible....negative stars! We consciously chose a regional/local restaurant and not the "chain" next door. And we were really looking forward to the chanterelles! A mistake! The service consisted of a single lady - who could only do so much for our poor rating... and a (presumably) temporary helper who appeared every now and then. At first we just placed a drink order - after about 20 minutes the waitress asked: that was 1 Coke for you, right? We ordered water and beer! We still haven't received the drinks after 45 minutes of waiting. It was around 3 p.m. and the number of guests was really manageable. And other guests who arrived after us, guests behind us, suddenly got their drinks before us! Eye contact with the waitress was not possible...and calling loudly after them is not our etiquette. In between, the awning was retracted - for whatever reason - and old leaves rained down on us... well, luckily it couldn't fall into the drink - because we still hadn't had that... Then the (presumed) boss showed up. Instead of helping out, she probably thought it was more important to take a “smart” look at the area. When she finally "served" our neighbor guest her food - in plain language: she slammed the plate in front of the woman without any comment! No: Enjoy your meal and apologize for having to wait so long (the lady also had to wait about 40 minutes for a schnitzel with salad!) By now our patience and forbearance had finally run out! When the supposed boss came to us and told us rather unkindly: you can't sit here, the table is reserved! Without alternatives, we're sorry...or another kind word! Then it was finally over - we got up and left! And they were extremely friendly, courteous and quick! Served at the Block House next door! Top service, good food - that's how it works!

We had a late lunch here on September 14th, 2024. Timewise 3:00 p.m. The restaurant wasn't really full and the occupancy was really low. The staff was simply not service-oriented and, in our opinion, completely overwhelmed. Waiting half an hour for your drink with an estimated 25 people present is unacceptable for a restaurant, at least if you see the guests present and not all of them ordered at the same time. The kitchen and the food, however, were good. There is no reason for us to complain here. As I said, the only reason for criticism is the service. It is essential to work on coordination here. It felt like the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. So we only give an average rating. Which is actually a shame. The location itself is great and really has potential. Maybe we were there at the wrong time. However, I have to say that when you're open, the quality has to be consistent regardless of the time.

Food was good...nothing more, nothing less

We were there with a group of 10 people and had a reservation. The service took the first order of food and drinks in a friendly manner, after which he was only seen in the distance. Other guests arrived later but received their food much earlier. After 75 minutes we finally received our first food, it was mostly schnitzel. Three meals were served with wrong side dishes and still not right on the second attempt. When asked, the service became a bit unfriendly. I enjoyed the food but another visit is out of the question for now.

Food was ok. Service was unfriendly. It was pointed out that there was a shortage of staff due to illness, which is completely fine, but it is difficult to treat the guest unfriendly. Disastrous service, no customer focus. You can cope with the miserably long waits for the waitress. The tea was so old that it only tasted like water. It took some convincing to ask the waitress to take the tea back. Then the boss came and brought the cup back with the explanation that it had to be that way 😅 an absolute impudence when the owners made a stupid comment against us as we passed by. To enjoy it you have to be able to suffer.

We went for dinner yesterday,outside seating was full so went inside which was almost empty.Only two members of staff serving and we had to wait an hour for our meal.Meal was okay.There was no atmosphere at all and not a happy experience for us.Would we go back,absolutely not.

Super friendly and competent service. Nice terrace, rustic interior. German cuisine, Köpi and Kellerbier, classics such as Königsberger Klopse, Jägerschitzel and much more. Great for the voles.

Glasses dirty and Campari not recommended…. After asking for the bill twice, it was completely ignored the third time she asked, she brought it and wanted to pocket the change herself and that's not possible as a service staff

They didn't want to sell me the lunch menu even though it was advertised for an hour. It wasn't all but "only at full price". Then you can't apply until 5:00 p.m. if you don't feel like serving until 5:00 p.m. It was the first and last visit.

I had ordered takeaway. Unfortunately, the wrong (more expensive) food was packaged and I only noticed and complained shortly after paying. The lady was very rude and had no idea how we could solve this or refund me the overpaid amount. On the contrary: I was informed that I was delaying them with my complaint. What a disgrace! We eat here often and are happy to recommend it to customers. Probably not anymore.

The pasta with sheep's cheese was floating in oil and was overcooked.

The drinks were good and the service was great

I had forgotten that there was a restaurant here with German cuisine and a wonderfully beautiful interior with old advertising signs, a small library and a seating area with a table in the middle for 4 people, all in dark brown and with leather seats. A waitress manages to bring the drinks from the counter to the table outside, bring the food halfway across the restaurant and still collect the money. For lunch there is a weekly menu, dish for €8.90 (also on weekends), which you can take with you for the next few days. There are quite a few regular guests here.

Ate Wiener Schnitzel Joes yesterday. As always, very excellent. The service is very friendly, and I don't really care whether it's served on a tray or not.

The atmosphere in the house is very cozy and rustic, but the beer garden is rather dreary. Staff friendly, but unprofessional (drinks served without a tray), not possible! Food is average, large portions. Unfortunately the schnitzels come out of the deep fryer. Overall 2.5 stars.

Die junge Kellnerin ist sehr freundlich, sympathisch und zuvorkommend. Die Kellner sind unfreundlich, kurz angebunden und knallen die Teller auf den Tisch ohne den Gast eines Blickes zu würdigen. Das Essen ist lieblos angerichtet. Die Serviettenknödel sind braun, als wären sie aufgewärmt, die Tagliatelle ohne Gewürz.

Mixture of beer pub and restaurant in a prime location on Theo. Very comfortable furnishings that will definitely entice you to stay seated for a longer period of time. Shady summer terrace. Classic pub menu with schnitzels, grilled dishes, etc. The menu is supplemented by seasonal dishes. There is also a cheap pub plate every day. The quality of the food is solid, although some dishes and side dishes use ready-made products. In any case, the portions are plentiful. There are clearly not enough staff, which leads to longer waiting times, especially when ordering drinks. Lots of older West Berlin regulars. The pricing is fair.

Contrary to some opinions here, the schnitzel today was not very breaded, so it was delicious!

Food is very good, but the service staff is overwhelmed. We were only visited three times in three hours, the first round of drinks lasted over thirty minutes (a bottle of water and two draft beers). When we checked out we acknowledged the service with a 5% tip, then the waitress rolled his eyes.
