Great cuisine! Service is also top. Were here for the second time now and are very satisfied.

Extremely loud, you couldn't have a conversation. The food came lukewarm and the steak was not cooked as desired. The quality of the meat is subpar for this price range. The service was very attentive, but it still took almost 2 hours until the food was at the table.

Yep. The rump steak for two people was amazing, and the cocktail replenishment went brilliantly.

We were here for New Year’s Eve dinner. Ambience was quite nice. Very limited vegetarian options, food and drinks were yummy. Guacamole and churros were amazing. But I feel food portions were really small compared to other Mexican restaurants for the price per dish.

Very tasty food, super friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere with Spanish music - highly recommended! :) We shared the appetizer platter as well as the guacamole with nachos and a chicken burrito. The guacamole was made fresh at the table and was fantastic! Only the dessert was different than expected: two people ordered the fried ice cream and thought the fried outer layer would be warm. However, this was cold and soggy and was not particularly liked.

It was supposed to be my birthday dinner before we went to a concert in the mess hall...let's just say: we were 20 minutes late! We waited a whopping 1.5 hours for the food and it was almost cold. Lots of noise, very loud location. Good for chatting and drinking, but not so much for eating. Price-performance ratio is not right...cocktails that are too expensive in a glass that is too small...

We had reserved a table and were seated outside. That's no problem in the summer. But in cooler temperatures like these, I expect to be told when we made the reservation. Luckily, we were able to move inside later. The four of us had to wait two hours for our food. You'd expect the waiter to tell you that, so you could decide whether to stay or leave. Unfortunately, the food was only moderately good. It was also very loud, which made it difficult to hold a conversation. The servers were attentive.

Food is tasty, but rather expensive given the size. Cocktails are also small and not very tasty. Unfortunately it is also incredibly loud and you can't have a good conversation. But the staff is super nice and accommodating!

The food was delicious, the restaurant looks nice but we waited 2 hours for our food... Its true that we were a group of 10 people and the restaurant was full so we expected that it will take longer but there were other groups that came after us and they were served sooner than we which was dissapointing, especially when the waiters were always promising to check the status of our orders but never came back with any info so the total review is: food is excellent, service is poor.

I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone! The food was TERRIBLE! It was served cold, and it has absolutely nothing to do with Mexican food. I absolutely don't understand the good reviews here. If possible, I wouldn't even give this restaurant a single star.

We were here for valentine’s night dinner. Very expensive for what this place has to offer. Waiters were definitely overwhelmed with amount of guests. Service was terrible. We waited for a long time before someone took our order and when they served our food after long waiting, it was already cold. Food is made with good quality ingredients but tastes below average, it is definitely does not have any Mexican flavour.

20+ euros for half portion dishes. I found it overpriced. The taste was also average. I cannot recommend directly. There are better places definitely.

Atmosphere were too dark, I know it's a bar too, but still too dark. Food was served after 40 minutes and so disappointing. I ordered enchiladas de pollo costs 21.8 and totally overpriced. I won't come back.

The food is overpriced, and the quality is disappointing. I dined here with my family, including two kids, and ordered the sizzling beef with tortilla. Unfortunately, they had an unusual smell and were tough to eat. Although we sat in a non-smoking section, there was still a strong cigarette odor, possibly due to poor sealing of the glass partition. This might be a concern for those sensitive to smoke or families with children. On the bright side, the customer service was excellent.

My favourite restaurant we visited in Frankfurt. Fantastic service, the food was just amazing and really good drinks too! I loved the decor and interior, really added to the overall experience! We got lucky with a table a random Monday night. Fresh guacamole made right at our table and everything!

We were dissatisfied as a group… the starters were priced at an unacceptable price at €15 per person for what? My guacamole also cost €14.90 just for a dip. The taste was also rather mediocre. Unfortunately I have to say that this is my last visit as it has gotten worse over the years.

Service was great and very friendly! The biggest point of criticism is the starter plate. My group finds the composition of the prize confusing. The price mentioned is calculated per person and does not start at (14.95 for two people). Well, if the platter comes to the table after 2 minutes, that's great on the one hand, but on the other hand it makes it clear that the things are only warmed up briefly and then served (very nicely prepared!). I really liked the quantity of the main course, but in my opinion it had relatively little taste. I helped myself with salt and pepper. We paid 170€ for 3 people with a starter plate, a drink per person and a bottle of water.

While passing through Frankfurt for a few days, we had dinner on 12/31/2024 at Joes Pena. Great setting, great service! On the other hand, the dishes were very basic, not bad, but we expect a little better for the price paid. However, I recommend this restaurant :)

The restaurant offers average Mexican food, which is flavorful but a bit on the heavy side. The service, however, is excellent and very attentive. The atmosphere is pleasant and casual, though slightly too dimly lit. The margaritas are absolutely delicious, making it a great spot for gathering with friends.

Service nice. The dishes taste okay. 5 on a scale of 10. BUT… with all due respect guys, the prices for these portion sizes are not acceptable. As an example: €14.90 for a small plate of guacamole or this starter plate for €30 for 2 people is absolutely too much. This applies to almost every dish on the menu.

Based on service alone, I'm giving this place a 5-star rating. My server really did the most to provide excellent service. For example, he apologized for the lack of a menu in English but told me that it was available on their website. He also sat me in an area where my dog wouldn't be in the way. The service here really is top notch. Sadly, I can't really say the same about the food. It wasn't bad, I was just disappointed because it wasn't authentic. Having lived in San Diego for the better part of 12 years, I'd like to think I know a little something about real Mexican food. Unfortunately, this wasn't it. As I ate my chips and salsa, it almost felt at one point like I was eating ketchup. And there was nothing authentic about my chimichanga. I'm disappointed not in the food itself but that it wasn't real Mexican food. But overall, I'd recommend this restaurant. (And as usual, for my fellow pet owners, they allow dogs inside.)

The dishes are quite expensive, but taste very different, some tasty, some bland. I would take the fact that a delicious homemade guacamole is served as a starter, but then a completely different type (more liquidy, with less taste) is served as a side dish, is the best example. Unfortunately, in winter you're cold despite wearing a jacket because it's so drafty on the first two rows of tables near the door (which was also the case last year).

Looking, looking, looking... ...and still didn't find anything negative! Chance led us to this restaurant where everything is just right. I'll try to keep it brief: The service was very friendly (almost warm-hearted), charming and extremely attentive - but without seeming "slimy" or even dishonest. Simply authentic! The candle on the table that had just burned out was noticed and replaced in no time. We were given friendly support when choosing the menu (I had no idea about the dishes). What was served after a barely noticeable wait was not only extremely delicious, but also plentiful. Tastes are fundamentally different, and getting the right taste is often a matter of luck in gastronomy. This one perfectly suited my taste! I also found the ambience to be very pleasant - a great atmosphere with warm, pleasant light. People tended to forget that they were in Frankfurt. I would have loved to stay an hour or two longer to linger at the cocktail bar, which was also very appealing. However, unfortunately I had to drive back to Frankenberg. It's a good hour's drive from there. A route that is definitely worth it for this culinary experience. We had a great evening – thank you very much for that. We will come back! Rare, but equally well-deserved 5 stars from me.

Food is interesting and good, however, huge minus - its too busy, you have to sit literally "back to back" with some strangers - they try to fit there as much people as they can, but this is very uncomfortable for customers, ruined the whole experience. Also, both times that we were there and booking table long in advance - we were getting the worst table next to the main entrance-terrible...constantly cold wind and people pushing you while walking...we will not come back again, this is not worth it, very uncomfortable experience, food was not that great to sit like that...at the same time - big compliment to their waitresses, they were very fast and with a good memory, while so busy.

Delicious food with excellent service

It's always fantastic here. We always sit outside under the heater and enjoy the margarita pitcher selection..... Or sometimes the corona 🍻 on tap😍

The two of us had dinner at Joe Penas Frankfurt on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately, the experience we had was so negative that it cannot be left unmentioned. We both ordered a chimichanga. I asked if they could make mine a little spicier, to which the waiter said he could put hot sauce on the side. In principle it's okay, but in retrospect I understand why, the dishes are already prepared and are only heated briefly again. The fact that they then ask for €2.50 for a bit of hot sauce without asking - not nice, but it would be bearable. When the food came, the first disappointment was there, the chimichangas themselves only taste like spinach and you can look for the 3 chicken cubes in them. You won't find any spices that are vaguely Mexican. The rest on the plate was a small pile of cold rice, cold bean salsa and a bit of ready-made salad from the bag. The whole thing for €22.50 - wow. Well, we were both hungry and ate it. It wasn't bad, but very far from good. The worst thing, however, was the waiter's reaction when we asked him "was everything okay?" friendly! pointed out that we were not satisfied with the food. He said "yes it's spinach with chicken and not chicken with spinach and if you don't like it, that's your problem". If you can't handle criticism, you shouldn't ask for someone's opinion. Afterwards we were of course ignored by the waiter and even in the empty restaurant we had to get up to pay despite repeated instructions. Conclusion: the food is not good, but that wouldn't be a problem if the service staff responded sensibly to criticism. The margaritas were solid, can't say anything about that. What remains is the waiter's terribly bad behavior (black curly ponytail), who is definitely not made for the job and thus ruins the whole evening. We can't recommend anyone to come here.

Ordered steak medium, it arrived rare. I ate it because I can eat it. Others would have returned it. I also told the waiter that I wanted to give the feedback to the kitchen. The taste was okay without being convincing. There was also 1/4 corn on the cob (1/4?? Why) and sweet potato fries (I thought the portion was too small). The taste was good. All in all, I wasn't convinced.

Would´ve liked to see a bit more sugar on the Crema catalana to get the caramelization properly, but overall super happy

An excellent Mexican restaurant! There’s no better way to start your evening than with a fabulous Nachos and some Joe Peña’s-style tacos. Their extensive menu offers something for everyone—from a juicy, mouthwatering burger to a divine beef burrito or delicious fajitas. You can also enjoy their amazing steaks, like the Carne del Rey. All I can say is that this incredible Mexican spot, with its lively atmosphere, delicious cocktails, margaritas, and tequila, will make you feel like you’re in the heart of Mexico. 100% recommended! The burrito was tasty, but could have been bigger for the price.

I went to this place with my husband for dinner. The place is a disaster for vegetarians/vegan with just 3 options. Food presentation was decent but it was absolutely bland and overpriced. We ordered two different dishes in different sauces but both tasted the same - tasteless and bland. We paid 48 euros for 2 dishes and 1 drink. Very dim lighting, can turn you blind. Bad experience, overpriced and bad food. Don’t recommend.

Our experience at this restaurant was really unsatisfactory. Upon arriving with our family, we noticed a lack of kindness in the treatment towards us. We ordered an Oaxaca Beef Bowl which, according to the menu, was not spicy, with the intention of sharing it (clearly mentioning the waiter, in German by my husband who is German) with our 2 year old daughter. However, in addition to making a mistake in the initial order, when I brought it back, the dish was so spicy that it was inedible, even for me, who is Latin American and usually enjoys spicy flavors. After an already difficult experience, the 10 minute wait for the bill (Rechnung) even though we had already paid the bill made the situation even more frustrating. Furthermore, when visiting the bathroom, so little water came out that it was insufficient to properly wash one's hands, an oversight in hygiene that is unacceptable. I would not recommend this restaurant as it left us with a negative impression on several aspects. I'm sure there are better options in Frankfurt for those looking for good food and quality service. If you prefer a pleasant experience, it would be better to consider another place.

The food was pathetic, everything was cut in very large pieces to make it look like the dishes are big when in actuality they aren’t. The guacamole was very watery and funny tasting, I think it is the kind you buy premade at wholesale in bucketsize. Nothing seemd fresh. The chesee quesadilla had only a hind of cheese. Everything is very overpriced, minimum 25€ a dish. I do not recommend it.

Hidden gem with great cuisine From the street, the restaurant looks rather inconspicuous, hidden behind large hedges and a red blind. But don't let that fool you! Behind this facade there is a real culinary highlight. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. The dishes came to the table quickly and were convincing in every respect. Particularly noteworthy is the excellent price-performance ratio, which is really great for the quality of the food. If I'm in the area again for work, I'll definitely come here again. A reservation is definitely recommended, because the restaurant was already completely full at 6:30 p.m. - and that on a weekday! The reservation works easily via the clear homepage. Overall, a wonderful experience that I can recommend to everyone!

Food itself was okay, we came to a business lunch, about ten people. We left over 400 euros behind and we actually had to pay for the nightcap after dinner ourselves. In general there was no welcome tone from the service staff, we sometimes felt out of place or unwanted! What a shame!

The Fajitas with meat did not test nice it is like the chef made them in a hurry and the table of two people are too small that our food was pouring while eating.The toilets are written in Mexican language it was confusing to me you may need Google translator to know which one is for men and women.The cocktails were good quality though.The menue for food is mixed with drinks and they have like four pages of just drinks.l think they should create two menues one for drinks and another for Food.The customer care was fantastic though

We were a group of 6 and one had fajitas with fish, he developed problems with the gastrointestinal tract and struggled for two days. Unfortunately, the rest of the food didn't justify the hefty prices; the burritos, chimichangas, etc. weren't even close to what we're used to from Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately. The food was average, and not very authentic Mexican. More tex-mex. The cocktails were delicious however. The server was also not the friendliest as I requested to sit closer to the tv to watch the football, but rejected even though there were empty tables.

Reheated food. Dry enchiladas??? And cold??? That's not an enchilada. At least they had michelada... oh no! They reduced it with water to save ingredients. Don't waste your time going to eat here. The happy hour alone is worth it. An exquisite Bloody Mary 🥰

Tasty, but the food was 0 spicy. When I asked for a hot sauce (which I assumed they forgot to put on the table), I was brought a mango chutney. In the end I discovered on the bill that I had been charged an additional €2.50 for it. Even when I asked the waiter why he hadn't told me before, his reaction was: "At Joe's Burgers you also pay extra for the mayo". I thought I'd go to a better place than Joe's Burger, at least it's significantly more expensive 🤷‍♂️

Reservations are a chaos in this place; I even think that they reserve garden tables to push people inside. Food is ok but not the best, really a shame for this well-known place 🤷‍♂️

This was one of the best mexican restaurants i’ve ever been too! The environment was immediately lively and spirited. The waiters were kind and warm. There was a great variety of drinks and food and the drinks were up to standard👍 The guacamole was amazing, it was made infront of us and it was super fresh and delicious. The tortilla chips were pretty good too and the two went really well together! The food didn’t take too long and it was tasty and appetizing, it had an amazing range of flavors. The Quesada De Pavo was amazing! The cheese was rich in flavor and so was the chicken, the vegetables could use some improvement but that was one of my favorite dishes i had. The Fajita Chicken was also delicious and just the right amount the spice! I’m just a bit disappointed that the guacamole on the dishes was less fresh and yummy than the one that is made infront if you🥲 The Bathrooms were also absolutely breathtaking and i was star struck when i walked in. The smell was amazing, the looks were amazing and cleanliness was spectacular! I have never been so impressed with a bathroom! The portions of food were also great and pretty big! You really are getting your moneys worth! Overall was the restaurant amazing and i will be coming here next time!

It is shameful that they use the name Mexican food on dishes that have almost nothing to do with real Mexican food. It's not fair that they pass themselves off as a Mexican restaurant, one falls for missing Mexican cuisine. The service was good, just the quality of the food was not.
