Was there for the second time now and everything is great! Food, staff and ambience was great. I'm already looking forward to the next time.

The Fajitas with meat did not test nice it is like the chef made them in a hurry and the table of two people are too small that our food was pouring while eating.The toilets are written in Mexican language it was confusing to me you may need Google translator to know which one is for men and women.The cocktails were good quality though.The menue for food is mixed with drinks and they have like four pages of just drinks.l think they should create two menues one for drinks and another for Food.The customer care was fantastic though

We were a group of 6 and one had fajitas with fish, he developed problems with the gastrointestinal tract and struggled for two days. Unfortunately, the rest of the food didn't justify the hefty prices; the burritos, chimichangas, etc. weren't even close to what we're used to from Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately. The service was good, the atmosphere was nice. It's a shame because the food spoiled our evening to some extent. Unfortunately the last time for us.

The food was average, and not very authentic Mexican. More tex-mex. The cocktails were delicious however. The server was also not the friendliest as I requested to sit closer to the tv to watch the football, but rejected even though there were empty tables.

Reheated food. Dry enchiladas??? And cold??? That's not an enchilada. At least they had michelada... oh no! They reduced it with water to save ingredients. Don't waste your time going to eat here. The happy hour alone is worth it. An exquisite Bloody Mary 🥰

Tasty, but the food was 0 spicy. When I asked for a hot sauce (which I assumed they forgot to put on the table), I was brought a mango chutney. In the end I discovered on the bill that I had been charged an additional €2.50 for it. Even when I asked the waiter why he hadn't told me before, his reaction was: "At Joe's Burgers you also pay extra for the mayo". I thought I'd go to a better place than Joe's Burger, at least it's significantly more expensive 🤷‍♂️

This was one of the best mexican restaurants i’ve ever been too! The environment was immediately lively and spirited. The waiters were kind and warm. There was a great variety of drinks and food and the drinks were up to standard👍 The guacamole was amazing, it was made infront of us and it was super fresh and delicious. The tortilla chips were pretty good too and the two went really well together! The food didn’t take too long and it was tasty and appetizing, it had an amazing range of flavors. The Quesada De Pavo was amazing! The cheese was rich in flavor and so was the chicken, the vegetables could use some improvement but that was one of my favorite dishes i had. The Fajita Chicken was also delicious and just the right amount the spice! I’m just a bit disappointed that the guacamole on the dishes was less fresh and yummy than the one that is made infront if you🥲 The Bathrooms were also absolutely breathtaking and i was star struck when i walked in. The smell was amazing, the looks were amazing and cleanliness was spectacular! I have never been so impressed with a bathroom! The portions of food were also great and pretty big! You really are getting your moneys worth! Overall was the restaurant amazing and i will be coming here next time!

It is shameful that they use the name Mexican food on dishes that have almost nothing to do with real Mexican food. It's not fair that they pass themselves off as a Mexican restaurant, one falls for missing Mexican cuisine. The service was good, just the quality of the food was not.

The Mexican restaurant offers an authentic and delicious selection of dishes. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the staff friendly and attentive. The prices are fair and the food is freshly prepared. Overall, a great experience that I can only recommend!

I have had much better taste for the enchiladas I ordered. They are not necessarily bad, but they could be better. Perhaps other dishes they serve are much tastier. I may come back next time I am in town.

Came back after 11 years and now have been wondering why it took me so long! The place is nice and big enough to find place also last minute on a friday night. Everything I hate was really tasty, from the starters, to the super spicy meat main to the dessert (fried ice cream), and the draft corona. Very cool was that they do the guacamole at your table which was perfect for me since I don’t eat coriander and they did it without. Also very nice was the service: the waiter that served us was very good and knowledgeable at providing recommendations. Approved!

Waited a long time for food! Unfortunately incapable of cellaring. Drinks were forgotten and unfortunately people rarely asked if they wanted anything else and the highlight came when paying. Drinks on the bill that we didn't have. So at the fair and then so incompetent. Not recommendable!!

The service was sometimes annoyed and rude (a meal was forgotten, the answer was: "that can happen with such a full house.") Definitely not recommended for groups. Seating capacity far exceeds the capacity that the service and kitchen can handle...

Fries are great! The recipe is very good and the meat also has a certain quality - but unfortunately people save money on purchasing the ingredients. The dishes are expensive and the quality of food is subpar. I had ordered a sizzling beef fajitas. It had a distinctive smell and was hard to eat. We ate inside in a non smoking area but there was a strong cigarette smell inside. Perhaps the glass partition wasn't really sealed or enclosed. Just a heads up for those second hand smokers or people with kids. The customer service was good though.

We had made a reservation, unfortunately a colleague got sick and we were charged a 15 euro “no show fee”! Food was good, service was overwhelming. But this fine left a bad aftertaste.

First of all, I went to this place with my mexican friend. We liked guacamole and I think everyone who visits this place should have that. Enchilladas is not a real one, sauce is really less. Waiters are friendly and nice. Prices are kinda expensive but for Frankfurt maybe I can consider normal. My mexican friend says this restaurant is more like TexMex. Actually, if you want to go that restaurant you can order only starters and drinks. With this way, it will be cheaper and more options.

I wanted to do a take out , the front door guy outright ignored, however once I placed my order with another waiter who was kind and sweet , the rude waiter demanded a tip for my take out and was not happy when I did not offer a tip for a take out . His body language was so negative and extremely rude. He is a guy with beard and long hair .

Good to very good Mexican food and drinks, but not exactly cheap. Very nice staff, I felt very comfortable even as a "solo sender". A bit dim inside, the decor is supposed to have a Mexican feel. Overall, recommended if taste is more important than budget.

Holy moly, what an evening at Joe Pena's Cantina Bar in Frankfurt! From the start it was clear that this visit would be special. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the waiter - who, with his cool charisma, could easily pass for Steve Aoki's brother. Rarely have I experienced such a friendly and nice waiter who immediately made us feel welcome. The food? Just wow! I particularly liked the Enchiladas De Pollo, and the Veracruz Chicken Chipotle Bowl was a real treat. I literally couldn't stop eating; Every dish was a hit and sent our taste buds on a journey that we won't soon forget. But it's not just about the food. The atmosphere at Joe Pena's was pleasant throughout, and you could really feel that all the employees were in a good mood and committed to their work. This positive vibe is contagious and further enriched our evening. I don't have to say much about the service - A1, without exaggeration. At the end the cheesecake would definitely have finished us off, but to be honest, we were so full and satisfied that we couldn't finish it. But no problem, because it just gives us another reason to come back soon. Joe Pena's, we are thrilled and are already looking forward to the next time!

Commonly Mexican restaurants are not cheap so I say price wise its regular and little pricey for the quality and taste as per my experience. I had ordered two different cocktails,nachos with jalapenos and cheese which was regular but the quantity was impressive and service was great till then. Later we friends ordered three different dishes like chicken burrito Traditional de Pollo and I specifically mentioned it to be medium spicy whereas my pregnant friend ordered less spicy and another friend very spicy. When we started to eat our mouth literally burnt as it was very spicy and unbearable to handle. The waiter came and asked us sarcastically whether the food was spicy enough for us and we said all is very spicy and he did not respond back well. Coming back to my dish there was no chicken at all in the burrito it was fully filled with potato and I was greatly disappointed. One of my friends loved michelada back in Mexico which she was eager to try here but it was a disappointment according to her. For the price and experience I don't recommend this place. Maybe for a drink it's good but not for food or good service.

The service (Shila) was super nice and committed, drinks were ok, but the boss and the food were a disgrace. 22€ for a third of a cold, raw corn on the cob, a carelessly shoveled together burrito whose cheese gratin was just melted and a ridiculous pile of ready-made salad from the bag without dressing are just plain cheeky, especially given the size of the portion.. The boss was a healthy mix of unsympathetic, unfriendly and annoyed, simply because guests were there at the end of his opening hours. We would very much like to never come back.

Quality of the food was quite good but not special, but the portion was far too small for the price. Service is, well, pretty slow and nothing special. We left €350+ and didn't even get a shot on the house. The shift manager has zero flexibility, zero charisma and thinks he is Mr. Bill Gates. All in all not recommended unless you are happy to pay 3 times as much for good service.

Update 2024: I have no idea whether the tenant has changed but now it's just cheeky! The new “service line”? Couldn't be more unsympathetic, behaves in an absolutely uncollegial and chauvinistic way, it was sometimes really embarrassing and unpleasant for us to sit there and have to witness that. We even asked our waitress whether it was always so impossible and why she put up with it... We were still there or tried to go there a total of 3 times, each time we were "greeted" rudely or with bad jokes or were told at 10 :30 said they were closed even though there were still 15 guests there and the opening hours were until 00:00. We turned around twice on the threshold. When we went in there with 12 people (we had called beforehand to see if there was anything available) we were shown a table for 10, which we could only give if everyone ate something... From "I'll go back there straight away" to " I’ll never go there again” in 2 visits… I always brought large groups with me and always recommended it as an insider tip. Very unfortunate!!! Never never again!!! Shame on you!! Original review: Fantastic store! Every time I'm in Frankfurt I'm here at least once, more often! Very good food, good cocktails and, although the place is almost always full, fast and friendly service!! A really well-functioning and well-coordinated team!

Since my student days, it has been a lively and always full restaurant where you feel comfortable. Great atmosphere, friendly and quick service and tasty Mexican cuisine. The only drawback: the small tables when you order fajitas. Very well mixed cocktails (Aperolsprizz too watery and not recommended), happy hour from 11 p.m. Be sure to order de Niro cheese cake, it's worth it! Totally recommended!

ok, as an american ive been exposed to some dank mexican food all my life and, tbh, the food here aint much to write home about. it is mid. the generous portions, however, is saving grace; i left the place full and satisfied. the service and atmosphere (sometimes more crucial than the food), however, and to great surprise, felt nearly stratospheric, especially by Frankfurt standards. i doubt that, in this town, very few establishments, wether fine dining or family owned spot, would come close to the warm, patient and attentive hospitality we experienced at joe pena’s. it is very possible, though, that we got lucky w our waiter, who was one of the best i’ve encountered around the world. perhaps you’ll find out, as i might on second visit.

A lot is true here. Especially compared to other Mexican restaurants. From the service to the food. Very courteous service, great food presentation and varied taste. You have fun eating and experiencing Mexican cuisine.

Totally delicious, but unfortunately very loud and cramped! We were there on a Saturday evening during the trade fair. That was probably a mistake. Because it was packed. The waiter was still totally on the ball and super nice. The ambience is actually very nice, but it was just incredibly loud that it was not possible for us to sit comfortably. We still enjoyed the food and it tasted really good! The portions were large enough for us and we were more than full. If there had been less going on, we would definitely have had another cocktail.

My personal opinion is that it is a little overpriced for the portions, but after Corona and inflation you have to expect that at the moment. Dad's food itself was tasty, sometimes not quite hot. The cocktails themselves were delicious, but more than half of one of our cocktails was ice.

We went to dine in tonight. The manager a gentleman with a ponytail told us no room to done. The time was 8:20 pm. We waited there for 30 mins in the whole time there were 4 empty tables. We were a table of 4. I guess when you find success in an owner absentee business you let your manager run down the place until you lose money

Etwas sus, weil: -schlechter Service (ich stand fast 5 Minuten im Gang und keiner wollte uns einen Tisch anbieten -viel zu überteuert, Preis-Leistung ist fragwürdig -das Essen hatte nichts von authentischer mexikanische Küche. Gewürzt war es kaum und das schärfste am Abend war meine Ginger Ale.... Sehr enttäuscht, wenn man die Kommentare hier findet.... Sehr schade

A nice Mexican place in Frankfurt. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. There is a happy hour for cocktails till 20 o’clock and the variety of cocktails is really big.

Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. We made a reservation for 4, as we were craving Mexican cuisine and this place did not disappoint. The fajitas my son had were great, and the chips and salsa were salty and spicy. The best part was the margaritas- delicious!

Das Essen ist lecker, gibt nur nicht immer alles, was man der Küche erwarten würde. Etwas eng aber gemütlich. Das Personal ist nett, aber nicht alle davon besonders aufmerksam, sie scheinen Abends von der Besucherzahl überfordert zu sein.

Ich hatte einen schönen letzten Abend bei Joe Penas im Jahr 2023 verbracht. Das Essen ist gut, hat aber einen strammen Preis. Das Lokal ist zu empfehlen.

Ich gebe nicht oft (schlechte Bewertungen), heute muss es allerdings sein, denn es ist ja nicht jeder Tag Silvester. Wir waren schon 2 mal dort essen (bisher immer recht gut gewesen), dieses mal aber komplett anders. Die Auswahl war zum Unterscheid zu sonst sehr viel kleiner; auf die Frage wieso die Speisekarte so minimal ist, hieß es, damit die Küche hinterher kommt. Die Anzahl an Sitzplätzen ist doch dieselbe wie immer, daher habe ich das Scheinargument nicht ganz nachvollziehen können. Aber gut: je weniger Auswahl, desto besser sollten die Speisen ja sein, da man sich ja spezialisieren kann. (Qualität statt Quantität und so) Die Vorspeise: Guacamole mit Tortilla Chips war nicht gut - Zitrone hat gefehlt, fraglich war hier, ob überhaupt Gewürze drin waren. Für ein Preis von ca. 12-13 Euro zumindest aus kaufmännischer Sicht des Gastronoms alles richtig gemacht - der Endkunde wird hier, sowohl geschmacklich als auch preislich, enttäuscht. Die Hauptgänge (einmal Rindfleisch, einmal Hähnchenfleisch) mit etwas Soßen, ein bisschen Eisberg Salat, Bohnen und Tortilla waren auch nicht das Wahre - sowohl von der Portionsgröße, als auch preislich (jeweils 22 -25 Euro) und geschmacklich. Ich hatte zuletzt vor 8 h etwas gegessen, zum Glück konnte ich das Essen meiner Freundin mitessen, da ihr es nicht geschmeckt hat, so bin ich zumindest satt geworden. Wäre es nur meine Portion gewesen, hätte das wohl anders ausgesehen. (ich bin kein Übergewichtiger der Unmengen an Essen verzehrt, um sich zumindest etwas drunter vorstellen zu können). Ein Nachtisch wollten wir dann auch nicht mehr essen. Die 2 Sterne gibt es, da das Essen relativ schnell gebracht wurde (Teller Portionen waren wohl bereits vorbereitet gewesen). Wir hätten den Tisch von 1930 bis 2100 Uhr gehabt, allerdings waren wir bereits um 20 Uhr fertig mit allem und wollten auch direkt wieder gehen. Die Bedienung meinte beim Bezahlvorgang, ich könnte auch Trinkgeld geben; Ob diese Aussage in diesem Fall frech oder mutig ist, weiß ich noch nicht. Da kann ich mir über das Neujahr mal Gedanken machen. Während dem Essen habe ich mir auch die anderen Tische angeschaut: Ohne jetzt für alle anderen Gäste sprechen zu wollen, die Gesichtsausdrücke haben drauf schließen lassen, dass diese auch nicht besonders zufrieden wirken. Fazit: Ein für die Portionen zu hoher Preis (68 Euro, 2 Getränke, 2 (kleine) Hauptspeisen + 1 geschmacklose Vorspeise; für 30-35 Euro wäre es ok gewesen), um mit minimalen Aufwand und Materialkosten die höchste Marge zu erhalten, um damit den höchstmöglichen Profit zu erwirtschaften. Könnte man 1-10 Punkte vergeben, wären es 3 geworden. Sehr schade - dennoch einen guten Rusch ins neue Jahr 2024 (allerdings mit 2 Kunden zukünftig weniger) P.s.: Das Bild vom Essen ist relativ gut geworden (meine Freundin macht gute Fotos von Speisen) - Motto wäre hier wohl: Sieht besser aus, als es schmeckt.

Das Essen und Personal hat uns überzeugt, aber die Plätze draußen waren nicht genügend beheizt. Ansonsten prima!

Über OpenTable serviert, schnell und zuverlässig einen Tisch für den selben Abend gefunden. Sehr zentral gelegen, nur wenige Minuten vom Melia Hotel und der nächsten Straßenbahn entfernt. Das Ambiente ist der Küche angemessen, das Personal ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Mir war es nur etwas zu warm zum Essen. Das Restaurant war komplett voll, dennoch kein Gefühl als Gast, dass das Team überfordert oder unstrukturiert ist. Das Team hat gut gearbeitet und strukturiert gearbeitet. Die Getränke und das Essen kamen schnell, es war heiß und lecker. Die Preise sind etwas höher, jedoch den Portionen angemessen. Wer pikant, scharf will, kann das hier auch bekommen! 5/5!
