Their extensive menu offers something for everyone—from a juicy, mouthwatering burger to a divine beef burrito or delicious fajitas. You can also enjoy their amazing steaks, like the Carne del Rey. All I can say is that this incredible Mexican spot, with its lively atmosphere, delicious cocktails, margaritas, and tequila, will make you feel like you’re in the heart of Mexico. 100% recommended! The burrito was tasty, but could have been bigger for the price.

I went to this place with my husband for dinner. The place is a disaster for vegetarians/vegan with just 3 options. Food presentation was decent but it was absolutely bland and overpriced. We ordered two different dishes in different sauces but both tasted the same - tasteless and bland. We paid 48 euros for 2 dishes and 1 drink. Very dim lighting, can turn you blind. Bad experience, overpriced and bad food. Don’t recommend.

Our experience at this restaurant was really unsatisfactory. Upon arriving with our family, we noticed a lack of kindness in the treatment towards us. We ordered an Oaxaca Beef Bowl which, according to the menu, was not spicy, with the intention of sharing it (clearly mentioning the waiter, in German by my husband who is German) with our 2 year old daughter. However, in addition to making a mistake in the initial order, when I brought it back, the dish was so spicy that it was inedible, even for me, who is Latin American and usually enjoys spicy flavors. After an already difficult experience, the 10 minute wait for the bill (Rechnung) even though we had already paid the bill made the situation even more frustrating. Furthermore, when visiting the bathroom, so little water came out that it was insufficient to properly wash one's hands, an oversight in hygiene that is unacceptable. I would not recommend this restaurant as it left us with a negative impression on several aspects. I'm sure there are better options in Frankfurt for those looking for good food and quality service. If you prefer a pleasant experience, it would be better to consider another place.

The food was pathetic, everything was cut in very large pieces to make it look like the dishes are big when in actuality they aren’t. The guacamole was very watery and funny tasting, I think it is the kind you buy premade at wholesale in bucketsize. Nothing seemd fresh. The chesee quesadilla had only a hind of cheese. Everything is very overpriced, minimum 25€ a dish. I do not recommend it.

Nice place and high expectations. Unfortunately, the swevice and communication were not worthy of a catering service provider. There was a large group, but the bill was therefore almost cheeky and cheeky. It's a shame, actually, it dampened the mood a bit.

Hidden gem with great cuisine From the street, the restaurant looks rather inconspicuous, hidden behind large hedges and a red blind. But don't let that fool you! Behind this facade there is a real culinary highlight. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. The dishes came to the table quickly and were convincing in every respect. Particularly noteworthy is the excellent price-performance ratio, which is really great for the quality of the food. If I'm in the area again for work, I'll definitely come here again. A reservation is definitely recommended, because the restaurant was already completely full at 6:30 p.m. - and that on a weekday! The reservation works easily via the clear homepage. Overall, a wonderful experience that I can recommend to everyone!

Very tasty, very nice, very friendly

Food itself was okay, we came to a business lunch, about ten people. We left over 400 euros behind and we actually had to pay for the nightcap after dinner ourselves. In general there was no welcome tone from the service staff, we sometimes felt out of place or unwanted! What a shame!

The Fajitas with meat did not test nice it is like the chef made them in a hurry and the table of two people are too small that our food was pouring while eating.The toilets are written in Mexican language it was confusing to me you may need Google translator to know which one is for men and women.The cocktails were good quality though.The menue for food is mixed with drinks and they have like four pages of just drinks.l think they should create two menues one for drinks and another for Food.The customer care was fantastic though

We were a group of 6 and one had fajitas with fish, he developed problems with the gastrointestinal tract and struggled for two days. Unfortunately, the rest of the food didn't justify the hefty prices; the burritos, chimichangas, etc. weren't even close to what we're used to from Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately. The service was good, the atmosphere was nice. It's a shame because the food spoiled our evening to some extent. Unfortunately the last time for us.

The food was average, and not very authentic Mexican. More tex-mex. The cocktails were delicious however. The server was also not the friendliest as I requested to sit closer to the tv to watch the football, but rejected even though there were empty tables.

Reheated food. Dry enchiladas??? And cold??? That's not an enchilada. At least they had michelada... oh no! They reduced it with water to save ingredients. Don't waste your time going to eat here. The happy hour alone is worth it. An exquisite Bloody Mary 🥰

Tasty, but the food was 0 spicy. When I asked for a hot sauce (which I assumed they forgot to put on the table), I was brought a mango chutney. In the end I discovered on the bill that I had been charged an additional €2.50 for it. Even when I asked the waiter why he hadn't told me before, his reaction was: "At Joe's Burgers you also pay extra for the mayo". I thought I'd go to a better place than Joe's Burger, at least it's significantly more expensive 🤷‍♂️

This was one of the best mexican restaurants i’ve ever been too! The environment was immediately lively and spirited. The waiters were kind and warm. There was a great variety of drinks and food and the drinks were up to standard👍 The guacamole was amazing, it was made infront of us and it was super fresh and delicious. The tortilla chips were pretty good too and the two went really well together! The food didn’t take too long and it was tasty and appetizing, it had an amazing range of flavors. The Quesada De Pavo was amazing! The cheese was rich in flavor and so was the chicken, the vegetables could use some improvement but that was one of my favorite dishes i had. The Fajita Chicken was also delicious and just the right amount the spice! I’m just a bit disappointed that the guacamole on the dishes was less fresh and yummy than the one that is made infront if you🥲 The Bathrooms were also absolutely breathtaking and i was star struck when i walked in. The smell was amazing, the looks were amazing and cleanliness was spectacular! I have never been so impressed with a bathroom! The portions of food were also great and pretty big! You really are getting your moneys worth! Overall was the restaurant amazing and i will be coming here next time!

It is shameful that they use the name Mexican food on dishes that have almost nothing to do with real Mexican food. It's not fair that they pass themselves off as a Mexican restaurant, one falls for missing Mexican cuisine. The service was good, just the quality of the food was not.

I have had much better taste for the enchiladas I ordered. They are not necessarily bad, but they could be better. Perhaps other dishes they serve are much tastier. I may come back next time I am in town.

Came back after 11 years and now have been wondering why it took me so long! The place is nice and big enough to find place also last minute on a friday night. Everything I hate was really tasty, from the starters, to the super spicy meat main to the dessert (fried ice cream), and the draft corona. Very cool was that they do the guacamole at your table which was perfect for me since I don’t eat coriander and they did it without. Also very nice was the service: the waiter that served us was very good and knowledgeable at providing recommendations. Approved!

Waited a long time for food! Unfortunately incapable of cellaring. Drinks were forgotten and unfortunately people rarely asked if they wanted anything else and the highlight came when paying. Drinks on the bill that we didn't have. So at the fair and then so incompetent. Not recommendable!!

The service was sometimes annoyed and rude (a meal was forgotten, the answer was: "that can happen with such a full house.") Definitely not recommended for groups. Seating capacity far exceeds the capacity that the service and kitchen can handle...

The food was good, unfortunately we had to wait almost 2 hours for our food. During larger trade fairs, long waiting times should be planned.

Fries are great! The recipe is very good and the meat also has a certain quality - but unfortunately people save money on purchasing the ingredients. The corn has little flavor and lettuce is probably pre-cut with store-bought dressing. Unfortunately, fried ice cream is a total flop - neither warm nor crispy on the outside. The dishes are expensive and the quality of food is subpar. I had ordered a sizzling beef fajitas. It had a distinctive smell and was hard to eat. We ate inside in a non smoking area but there was a strong cigarette smell inside. Perhaps the glass partition wasn't really sealed or enclosed. Just a heads up for those second hand smokers or people with kids. The customer service was good though.

First of all, I went to this place with my mexican friend. We liked guacamole and I think everyone who visits this place should have that. Enchilladas is not a real one, sauce is really less. Waiters are friendly and nice. Prices are kinda expensive but for Frankfurt maybe I can consider normal. My mexican friend says this restaurant is more like TexMex. Actually, if you want to go that restaurant you can order only starters and drinks. With this way, it will be cheaper and more options.

I wanted to do a take out , the front door guy outright ignored, however once I placed my order with another waiter who was kind and sweet , the rude waiter demanded a tip for my take out and was not happy when I did not offer a tip for a take out . His body language was so negative and extremely rude. He is a guy with beard and long hair .

Holy moly, what an evening at Joe Pena's Cantina Bar in Frankfurt! From the start it was clear that this visit would be special. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the waiter - who, with his cool charisma, could easily pass for Steve Aoki's brother. Rarely have I experienced such a friendly and nice waiter who immediately made us feel welcome. The food? Just wow! I particularly liked the Enchiladas De Pollo, and the Veracruz Chicken Chipotle Bowl was a real treat. I literally couldn't stop eating; Every dish was a hit and sent our taste buds on a journey that we won't soon forget. But it's not just about the food. The atmosphere at Joe Pena's was pleasant throughout, and you could really feel that all the employees were in a good mood and committed to their work. This positive vibe is contagious and further enriched our evening. I don't have to say much about the service - A1, without exaggeration. At the end the cheesecake would definitely have finished us off, but to be honest, we were so full and satisfied that we couldn't finish it. But no problem, because it just gives us another reason to come back soon. Joe Pena's, we are thrilled and are already looking forward to the next time!

Commonly Mexican restaurants are not cheap so I say price wise its regular and little pricey for the quality and taste as per my experience. I had ordered two different cocktails,nachos with jalapenos and cheese which was regular but the quantity was impressive and service was great till then. Later we friends ordered three different dishes like chicken burrito Traditional de Pollo and I specifically mentioned it to be medium spicy whereas my pregnant friend ordered less spicy and another friend very spicy. When we started to eat our mouth literally burnt as it was very spicy and unbearable to handle. The waiter came and asked us sarcastically whether the food was spicy enough for us and we said all is very spicy and he did not respond back well. Coming back to my dish there was no chicken at all in the burrito it was fully filled with potato and I was greatly disappointed. One of my friends loved michelada back in Mexico which she was eager to try here but it was a disappointment according to her. For the price and experience I don't recommend this place. Maybe for a drink it's good but not for food or good service.

The service (Shila) was super nice and committed, drinks were ok, but the boss and the food were a disgrace. 22€ for a third of a cold, raw corn on the cob, a carelessly shoveled together burrito whose cheese gratin was just melted and a ridiculous pile of ready-made salad from the bag without dressing are just plain cheeky, especially given the size of the portion.. The boss was a healthy mix of unsympathetic, unfriendly and annoyed, simply because guests were there at the end of his opening hours. We would very much like to never come back.

Quality of the food was quite good but not special, but the portion was far too small for the price. Service is, well, pretty slow and nothing special. We left €350+ and didn't even get a shot on the house. The shift manager has zero flexibility, zero charisma and thinks he is Mr. Bill Gates. All in all not recommended unless you are happy to pay 3 times as much for good service.

Update 2024: I have no idea whether the tenant has changed but now it's just cheeky! The new “service line”? Couldn't be more unsympathetic, behaves in an absolutely uncollegial and chauvinistic way, it was sometimes really embarrassing and unpleasant for us to sit there and have to witness that. We even asked our waitress whether it was always so impossible and why she put up with it... We were still there or tried to go there a total of 3 times, each time we were "greeted" rudely or with bad jokes or were told at 10 :30 said they were closed even though there were still 15 guests there and the opening hours were until 00:00. We turned around twice on the threshold. When we went in there with 12 people (we had called beforehand to see if there was anything available) we were shown a table for 10, which we could only give if everyone ate something... From "I'll go back there straight away" to " I’ll never go there again” in 2 visits… I always brought large groups with me and always recommended it as an insider tip. Very unfortunate!!! Never never again!!! Shame on you!! Original review: Fantastic store! Every time I'm in Frankfurt I'm here at least once, more often! Very good food, good cocktails and, although the place is almost always full, fast and friendly service!! A really well-functioning and well-coordinated team!

ok, as an american ive been exposed to some dank mexican food all my life and, tbh, the food here aint much to write home about. it is mid. the generous portions, however, is saving grace; i left the place full and satisfied. the service and atmosphere (sometimes more crucial than the food), however, and to great surprise, felt nearly stratospheric, especially by Frankfurt standards. i doubt that, in this town, very few establishments, wether fine dining or family owned spot, would come close to the warm, patient and attentive hospitality we experienced at joe pena’s. it is very possible, though, that we got lucky w our waiter, who was one of the best i’ve encountered around the world. perhaps you’ll find out, as i might on second visit.

Since my student days, it has been a lively and always full restaurant where you feel comfortable. Great atmosphere, friendly and quick service and tasty Mexican cuisine. The only drawback: the small tables when you order fajitas. Very well mixed cocktails (Aperolsprizz too watery and not recommended), happy hour from 11 p.m. Be sure to order de Niro cheese cake, it's worth it! Totally recommended!
