The food here is excellent — we tried many different dishes and they were all fantastic. The restaurant has a cool design with a nice terrace and bar. The only disappointment was the staff. The waiters, especially their female supervisor, came across as snobbish and unmotivated, giving off an unfriendly and dismissive vibe, which is a shame for the price point of this restaurant.

I went to Jin Gui for dinner with a friend this evening – and it was simply fantastic! We received a warm welcome upon arrival, which immediately created a pleasant atmosphere. To start, we chose the New Style Dim Sum Cream Veggie, Eggplant Japanese Classic, and classic Edamame. Each appetizer was perfectly flavorful and creatively presented. The dim sum was a particular highlight! For our main course, we opted for spring rolls and yakisoba noodles – both dishes were not only a visual delight, but also perfectly balanced in taste. For a sweet finish, we had a heavenly matcha tiramisu and the Jin Gui Dragon Ball. A perfect combination of innovative presentation and finely balanced flavors – simply delicious! The staff was very friendly and attentive throughout the entire evening, and they accompanied us with a smile. A wonderful evening with great food, great service, and a stylish ambiance. We will definitely be back!

Top prices require top products and top service. Jin Gui does not meet this expectation. The fried shell of the salmon taco starter didn’t taste fresh and the salmon lacked flavor. Roll start around 20 Euros and go up to nearly 40. They are ok in size but lack in product quality. I had a spicy salmon roll. The „pulled“ salmon, whatever this means in terms of salmon had an texture I found dry and unpleasant. The spicyness of the tuna roll was unrefined and overpowering the rest of the flavours. A gyoza for 7 euro that tasted ok but not exceptional and is ridiculously overpriced. The bottle of sake sold for 125 Euros costs 38 Euros online. When I asked if the shrimp roll could made without a tempura coat I was informed that pure shrimps were not available. I would expect that a restaurant would use raw shrimps and do the tempura coating for esch roll freshly. The service was friendly but not knowledgeable about the products. We were not even give one wasabi portion each but had to share. An additional order was ignored. We got one amuse bouche for 6 people which was a small portion of cucumbers with a spicy sauce that lacked in depth. Cocktails were nice. I suppose most people go there because they can but not because they are into Asian cuisine.

We had a lovely dinner outside with good sushi and excellent service. The sushi creations are modern and a bit unusual—perfect for sampling.

The service is attentive, friendly, and well-organized. The ambience is stylish and lively, without being unpleasantly loud. Important: Reservations are essential, as the restaurant is almost always fully booked.

The taste was good, but the price was completely inadequate, and the portions were very small (e.g., a bottle of water cost 0.75 for €12). The welcome was very friendly, but then things went downhill. We had to wait forever for everything. In the end, we were left with a certain amount of frustration.

We had a very pleasant evening on June 7, 2025. We were served by a very friendly Greek woman. The food and wine were outstandingly good. Personally, I think the circular benches are inviting for a drink, but I couldn't sit comfortably in the corner and eat :). We'll definitely be back for dinner. Best, Andreas

Also, we were served authentic wasabi, which was my personal highlight. The service was very attentive, friendly, and welcoming. We felt very comfortable. All in all, a lovely place; we'll definitely be back!

We wanted to try a new restaurant in Hamburg and landed here via Google reviews. When we saw the menu and prices, we were a bit taken aback—they were so high for 7-9 rolls of sushi. The food is generally delicious, but the price is unfortunately disproportionate! We couldn't quite figure out the reason for the high prices (special ingredients, location, because it's part of a hotel?). Conclusion: It's worth a try to experience fusion cuisine, but it's definitely too expensive to fill you up, and the sushi isn't that special either (for the price).

Restaurant Jin GUI in the TORTUE Hamburg, stylish setting, excellent service, culinary with light and shadow The Jin GUI in the TORTUE Hamburg is an atmospheric highlight, a very attractive interior, pleasant lighting atmosphere, stylishly staged. The service is extremely professional and attentive; people regularly ask about their well-being and complaints are resolved elegantly and without discussion. Our visit was a mixed bag in terms of cuisine! The Rock Shrimp Tempura, which I have enjoyed several times before, this time came with an excessive amount of mayonnaise - not a delicate coating, but downright drowned. However, after receiving feedback, the portion was immediately re-prepared, fresh, as usual, and significantly better. The breading is still not thin like tempura should be, but rather very firm. The mayo and breading overwhelmed the taste of the good product. The Tuna Tempura Roll was solid but underwhelming. The quality of the fish is undoubtedly high, but the execution is disappointing at this price level. The filling is too pureed, the rice is pressed too tightly and is slightly mushy. This creates an almost mushy texture in the mouth that lacks definition. The tempura as the name suggests just wasn't there. A positive surprise was the salmon nigiri on crab meat instead of rice, innovative, strong in taste and finely tuned in terms of text. Super tasty! The bottom line is that Jun GUI is a place with upscale service, an exciting menu and creative approaches, but for just under €180 for two (without wine accompaniment) I simply expect more in terms of texture, finesse and execution.

The food in this restaurant is really tasty and made with a lot of love. What I didn't like so much was that if you don't have a real German accent, you're immediately asked if you'd prefer the English menu - that seems a bit hasty. The waitress with the glasses (sorry I don't know her name) makes you feel unwelcome. I think that's a shame because the food was really great, but it doesn't make you feel completely comfortable.

I had the pleasure of visiting Jin Gui Restaurant with my wife and we loved it from the start. We are always looking for new culinary experiences and Jin Gui Restaurant really surprised us. The food was simply delicious and the portions were generous. We chose two different sushi rolls (the beetroot roll and the beef tartar truffle roll) and ordered the chicken taco and the crispy suckling pig as starters - everything was simply delicious. The flavors were very well balanced and you could taste the fresh ingredients. The service in the restaurant was also great - the staff was quick and courteous. We received a very warm welcome and the team was always open to our questions and requests. We think it's particularly important to have an insight into the kitchen to see how the dishes are prepared. Jin Gui Restaurant has an open view of the kitchen, which really impressed us. We were able to see how the chefs work with great care and passion and prepare each dish with attention to detail. All in all, we can highly recommend Jin Gui Restaurant. Everything is just right here - the food, the service and the atmosphere. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying more dishes.

Asian fusion cuisine, specializing in sushi 🍣 and warm dishes, is of course also available here. Friendly welcome, nice restaurant and great decor. First had a miso soup, a dim sum mix as the main course, and a sushi mix. Tasted great and beautifully prepared. Service is top, it's best to make a reservation in the evening 😉

If you want to eat fancier and more expensive Asian food - a great recommendation

I've been in Hamburg coming up on 15 years, and that's probably a top three meal I've had here. Absolutely epic food - while it doesn't come cheap of course, worth every cent in being super fresh, inventive and tasty. Extremely satisfying birthday lunch.

Waitress was a bit overwhelmed in the evening. She dropped something and then got so angry with herself that she was just rude. And no one was really upset that she had spilled wine on clothes. This could have been solved more professionally. But otherwise everything was great.

Ganz nett aber ich würde da nicht nochmal hingehen. Nicht weil die Qualität nicht stimmt, ganz und gar nicht das Essen war wirklich lecker und sehr frisch. Das Ambiente ist auch richtig schön. Es sind einfach viel zu viele Tische eng beieinander und in so einem Lokal wäre ein wenig Privatsphäre doch wünschenswert.

Es war alles hervorragend, störend war allerdings die sehr betrunkene Männergruppe im privaten Raum direkt nebenan, eine Gast schlief mit den Oberkörper auf dem Tisch liegend, beim Aufbruch riefen sie den Gästen im Restaurant anzügliche Bemerkungen zu. Daher leider Abzug beim Ambiente, auch wenn das Team natürlich nichts für seine Gäste kann.

Worst sushi we have ever eaten. We had high expectations after reading the innovative menu. Everything sounded promising. Sushi is standard rolled. Sashimi for €34, which tastes the same or even better in a sushi snack bar. Pork Belly tasted a lot like old fat and was hard. The Surf ‘n Turf Sushi also had no wow effect.

The placement agent at reception was completely unprofessional and arrogant. Unfortunately, the food couldn't make up for it either. There was a lack of quality in all courses. Unfortunately, it's at the bottom of the drawer in this price range

Immer wenn wir nach Hamburg fahren, gehen wir bei Jin Gui essen. Ein mal wegen dem hervorragenden Essen und des Weiteren aufgrund des besonderen Service. Heute wurden wir wie gewohnt, sehr freundlich und herzlich empfangen und an unseren Tisch geleitet. Der junge Man der uns bediente, hat die Getränkewünsche schnell aufgenommen, jedoch haben wir die Getränke und die Aufnahme der Vorspeise und Wunschgerichte erst nach einer ungewohnt langer Weile bekommen. Ein Pärchen das nach uns kam, hat jedoch noch vor unseren bestellten Getränken bereits die Getränke und Vorspeise bestellt und gebracht bekommen. Das hat uns überrascht. Wir haben wie gewohnt sehr gut empfohlene und köstliche Speisen bekommen und die Getränke haben auch sehr gut geschmeckt. Nur die Erfahrung das Gäste, die nach uns kamen zu erst bedient wurden ist ungewöhnlich für den für bekannten Service von Jin GUI. Ich kann jedoch vorstellen, dass es sich um eine Ausnahme an den Feiertagen gehandelt hat, oder weil wir eine Gruppe von 4 Personen waren. Nichtsdestotrotz sende ich viele Grüße und wünsche einen guten Rutsch in das neue Jahr 2025!

Het eten was heerlijk. De keuze meer dan goed. Bediening erg vriendelijk. Sfeer was prima.

Preis Leistung war jenseits von gut & böse. Dass es sich hier um ein hochpreisiges Restaurant handelt, war im Vorhinein bekannt und wird von mir auch gerne bezahlt, wenn alles passt. Aber der Service lies zu wünschen übrig. Auf meine Frage, ob sie auch Sojasauce ohne Fisch hätten, hatte der Kellner keine Antwort - was ich auch noch akzeptieren kann, aber dann muss ich fragen & nicht einfach sagen: in jeder Sojasauce ist Fisch! Was übrigens nicht stimmt, er kam dann nämlich mit der Glutenfreien & hat diese einfach eingeschränkt. Auf meine Frage, ob hier jetzt kein Fisch drin ist, kam die Antwort: keine Ahnung, aber die ist Glutenfrei. Ok - war halt nicht meine Bitte. Als ich ihn darauf hingewiesen habe, das Fett ‚VEGAN‘ oben steht, kam die Antwort: ah ok .. ja dann. Generell war das Desinteresse der Kellner sehr hoch. Jedes Mal mussten wir den Kellner ansprechen, wenn wir was wollten. Bei einem Restaurant, welches eine Flasche Wasser um 20€ verkauft, erwarte ich mir tatsächlich, dass ich vom Service aufmerksam behandelt werden. Aber nun zum Essen: die Veggie Roll war komplett geschmacklos. Gott sei dank hatte ich ja meine Sojasauce, so konnte ich wenigstens an Reis mit Sojasauce nuckeln. Denn das war der einzige Geschmacksträger. Die Kürbissuppe schmeckt in jedem Wirtshaus besser & die Edamame mit Meersalz waren so lieblos angerichtet, dass selbst diese den stolzen Preis meiner Meinung nach nicht Wert sind. All in All haben wir knapp 120€ für 2 Personen ausgegeben, die ich sehr bereue.

Food too containing glutamate (clearly MSG in the food) and the non-alcoholic drink was rather medium to stale. Far too expensive for that. Short, disinterested service. Uncomfortable ambience that is supposed to be presented in a hip way using dim lighting. Waited too long to order. That's simply not possible at such prices. I expect first-class, purely prepared food and drinks, as well as the most courteous and direct service. As a minimum. A (very expensive) disappointment and a clear non-recommendation.

Sashimi all top, price justified, maybe a little too expensive. Service is clearly disinterested. Music is very bass-heavy and the sound gets tiring over time. Suckling Pig Cross as a second course is very tasty. The wine recommendation was very good, unfortunately no second bottle was brought, nor was water. Soup first didn't blow us away, but papaya salad impressed us. Desserts were not served at the same time. Sorbet is very light and refreshing, while Creme Brulet is just sweet and too runny. The cocktails all seem interesting, our choice was too sweet, but you should try them out. This slight criticism here can only be seen in relation to the price and standards of the restaurant. When it comes to cuisine, this restaurant in the hotel is really recommended.

Wir hatten Sushi gegessen waren enttäuscht. Es war bestimmt alles frisch zubereitet und die Qualität der Zutaten war auch sehr gut. Aber das Sushi war mit süßen Soßen und Mayonnaisen angerichtet das ist für uns kein richtiges Sushi mehr.

Wir kommen immer wieder gerne hierher. Das Sushi ist einfach nur fantastisch und sehr lecker. Empfehlung von uns wer Trüffel gerne mag, unbedingt Duck Karaage essen und die Edamame mit trüffelbutter. Ein Gedicht. Das Servicepersonal ist super lieb und auf Zack. Wir freuen uns jetzt schon auf den nächsten Besuch.

The sushi was amazing! Appetizers excellent. Drinks are expensive, but also very good quality! Basically it was an expensive evening, but it was worth it. The entire outdoor area was full. And that during the week. The restaurant is basically in a kind of courtyard of the Tortue Hotel. There are also two bars there. Once the Jin Gui bar and then another bar (Bar noir) Super modern and beautiful everything. The service staff were very polite and accommodating. I think we ended up paying €220 with a tip. But it was so great! Thank you! 🩷✨️

Es wurde uns ein Tisch zugewiesen (lange vorher reserviert), dessen Fußraum zur Hälfte von einem großen Hund des Nachbartischs eingenommen wurde. Eine Zumutung. Der zweite Tisch war in Ordnung. Zum Essen: Die bestellte Ente, war nicht heiß, sonder nur lauwarm und bestand zu 30% aus Fett. Wurde kulanterweise, von der Rechnung genommen, sonst wäre es sehr ärgerlich gewesen. Diesmal waren wir nicht zufrieden. Zweimal vorher. waren wir es.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the JIN GUI restaurant in Hamburg - and it was an experience that impressed in every way. As soon as you enter the restaurant you can feel the elegant atmosphere, which is characterized by stylish design and subtle lighting. The ambience is modern and inviting at the same time - the perfect place for a special evening. The food: We were impressed by the culinary offerings. For starters we chose mixed sashimi and edamame. The sashimi was of the highest quality – fresh, tender and perfectly sliced. The edamame were aromatic and an ideal light introduction. For the main course we chose the Yellowfin Tuna. This is where the true art of the kitchen was revealed: the fish was perfectly prepared, tenderly fried on the outside and raw on the inside, so that the flavors and textures came into their own. Accompanied by harmonious side dishes, every detail was thought through and finely tuned. For dessert we had the Dragon Ball, the serving of which was an experience in itself. The service: The service at JIN GUI was equally outstanding. The team was professional, attentive and always friendly without being intrusive. Our wishes were quickly fulfilled and we felt we were well looked after. Conclusion: JIN GUI offers an excellent dining experience that impresses with both the quality of the food and the excellent service. It is undoubtedly a recommendation for anyone looking for fine Asian cuisine in stylish surroundings in Hamburg. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Stay away from the restaurant. The ambience is nice but the service is just subpar. You have to ingratiate yourself to the staff so that you can get something to eat. The advice is zero. The waiters don't make any recommendations and if you complain about something you'll be punished with indifference. So if you're willing to spend a lot of money on bad service and weak food, you've come to the right place.

After a party we went to the JIN GUI Bar for a few drinks. The cocktails were really tasty and a bit more unusual. Our bartender was extremely personable and humorous. Generally very friendly employees!

Our evening in Jin Gui was truly perfect. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is just amazing (the lobster sushi especially was mind-blowing), drinks are always on point and the young lady that was our waitress was incredibly professional. Maybe the best service I ever experienced in my life - she didn’t miss anything, our glasses were always full, if we were finished with a dish she would stop by within under 5 mins to ask if we needed something else, she was extremely friendly, and present whenever needed without being annoying. Delicious sushi, a wide range of options and there was plenty of food for a filling main meal. Great atmosphere and this little restaurant in central Hamburg. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely evening, but our expectations were not met. The food is good, especially the sushi, but the curry for the main course, for example, is nothing special. The chicken skewers for the main course were also a bit small if you only took the main course. Unfortunately, the service was also quite inattentive in parts; the team was more concerned with each other than with the guests. But the food came quite quickly. So everything is kind of good but not worth 5 stars. And so unfortunately the price wasn't justified, the two of us paid 150 euros with a non-alcoholic drink each plus water. I would have hoped for more wow.

Wir waren zum wiederholten Male zum Abendessen und der überzogene Preis rechtfertigt einfach nicht mehr die vernünftige, aber keinesfalls herausragende Qualität des Essens. Darüber hinaus ist das Restaurant offensichtlich von Stammkunden ‚übernommen‘ worden, die zwar Geld haben, leider jedoch kein Benehmen. Kinder am Nachbartisch, die die Füße auf den Tisch legen - während sie laut Filme auf dem iPad konsumieren - ist einfach schwer zu ertragen. Der Hinweis des Personals ‚es handle sich um Stammgäste und man könne hier nichts machen‘ ist ein hoffnungsloser Offenbarungseid….

Sitze zu tief (ich bin gross) und durchgesessen Übergrosser Tisch im Eingangsbereich fuer 4 Personen macht keine Freude Die Zeiten zwischen den Gängen waren leider deutlich zu lange Bedieung sehr freundlich und kompetent aber wenn vespaetet zum Hauptgang auch noch eine falsche Beilage serviert wird, dann fehlt eben doch die Konzentration und Aufmerksamkeit fuer den Gast Essensqualitaet gut aber das gesamte Erlebnis fuer €370 war zu sehr getruebt. Wir kommen auf absehbate Zeit nicht wieder.
