A colorfully furnished diner with a large terrace. There is a lot to discover inside and outside. The service was super friendly and quick. The food came quickly and looked delicious, and that's how it tasted. The starters with a mix plate and nachos with pulled pork were very tasty and enough for 4 people to share. The main course was burgers, and all four of them were good. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with my milkshake after seeing such beautifully decorated ones in other reviews. Unfortunately mine was a bit loveless with a Raffaelo on whipped cream. Later it became quite crowded on the terrace and unfortunately that was noticeable. The waitress who brought us the shakes couldn't bring me any water or take my order and referred her to her colleague, who was so busy collecting and allocating tables. There was no time for our order. A pity. Nevertheless, we had a lovely evening and can recommend the diner.

The location is worth a visit in summer. There are enough seating options inside and outside. The burgers are great and the shakes are very tasty. 💕

It's actually hard to put into words. Location: Great, Ambiance: Wow, a lot to look at, everything coordinated American. Service and staff: awesome. The price is a bit high but it's still cheap for the quality. Food: Great, everything fresh and really tasty. Conclusion: We felt so well taken care of that we increased the tip to double digits ❤️ Thank you for the great hospitality and we will definitely see each other again.

We were in the diner during the European Championships when the Dutch invaded the restaurant like a swarm of locusts. Despite the rush, the kitchen was great again and the service staff delivered and fought like lions! Cheers!

Had dinner and sat in the beer garden. Great atmosphere, large trees provide shade. The service was quick, friendly and helpful. Food very plentiful and ultra tasty. Were there for the first time and certainly not the last time 😀. If you don't manage the portions, you take it home.

Stylish ambience, delicious food, very nice and attentive service. Super dog friendly - There are dog blankets, drinking bowls and even a dedicated menu for man's best friend.

The food was good, the service was friendly and the ambience of the campsite was nice, especially in summer. Despite many reserved tables, a place was still found for us. It's also funny to note that the small drink is 0.5l and the large one is 1.8l. I've never had it before. ;) You can eat outside or inside and the surroundings are lovingly decorated with American accents (street signs, old car bodies,... See photo). I'd love to come by again when I'm in Leipzig.

I recently visited an American restaurant and absolutely loved it. The food was really delicious! The burger in particular was incredibly juicy and perfectly seasoned. The fries that came with it were crispy and simply delicious. The service was also great – very accommodating, friendly and, above all, fast. A great experience that I can recommend to everyone!

Mega unfriendly and 0% American… 0% goodwill…just because one (out of 7) got sick, we should pay €15…. Just eye rolling and just pathetic...typically German😅😅😅😅... Food is quite good but “50’s ville” is 1000 times better

We were there as a group after a run around the Auensee on a Friday evening. Seats were reserved. Nice diverse selection of burgers. There was also a frieze (in different versions if desired). Drinks small, always half a liter. Just typical diner. It tasted great. Service also very friendly. Can be recommended. But there is still one point of criticism. Because it's typically American, there's unfortunately only one burger for vegetarians. This can perhaps still be improved.

Simply magnificent. We reserved in advance, which is also recommended. The food and drinks are large enough and the price is totally fair for my wallet. (Especially in this day and age) The service can only be praised, everyone who works there does a great job. I find the features of the women's toilets cute and very useful and that there is even a small changing table. Thumbs up and keep it up from my side ☺️👍🏻

We reserved in advance, you should definitely do that. We became aware of the restaurant through Google Maps because you can eat gluten-free here. So far so good. There is an allergen menu, which unfortunately has very small print, but still includes every dish and thus provides the necessary information. The employees also know their stuff well, but unfortunately it is only possible to a very limited extent to remodel the dishes because “everything has been counted out”, something like that. A pity. But combining the baked potato with turkey breast or chicken breast, for example, is not possible because the meat is counted and is only served in combination with a sandwich. This sandwich isn't available gluten-free, so tough luck. You just have to take both and then not eat what you can't tolerate. But this also creates a lot of waste. This is a pity. The food itself is delicious and the portions are extremely generous. A “small” cola, for example, has 0.5L, a large one has 1.4L. We really liked the atmosphere, the employees were very nice and made an effort. The furnishings and decoration are great, the women's toilets have dry shampoo, deodorant, perfume, pads and tampons. I really liked that because there is no unpleasant situation if you forget something. All in all, it is a bit difficult for people with food intolerances to find something. But everything is marked and visible on this table, even if, as I said, it is printed really tiny.

Great location, The service is great, the staff very friendly and accommodating. There's not much to say about the food, American portions are usually too big for German stomachs 😂. But the taste is great. Can be recommended without any ifs and buts.

Absolutely awesome location, great journey through the forest. Mega quiet and idyllic corner. Depending on where you park, it can be a bit tight for large cars. But it just looks cool. Typically American. The waitresses all looked smart in these uniforms. Very large food and drink portions 😅 you can roll home xD we will definitely come back.

Good afternoon dear readers. I went to JaNi's Diner with my partner and we loved it! The burgers were very tasty and the fries were just perfect. We were served quickly and were asked several times if we needed anything or how it tasted. The dishes are reasonably priced. For around €15 you can get a large burger with fries. We were more than fed up with it. The ambience is second to none. It combines elements of a classic diner with American culture and contemporary history. The pictures offer just a tiny glimpse of the attention to detail. We'll definitely be back!

At the beginning we were quite skeptical about visiting an American diner at a campsite. The staff is super friendly. There was even a menu for our dog.

So after 5 years we were there again! Location bomb. Prices are very high and quite expensive in my opinion. 21€ for a 20gram citizen with a mushroom, well... The mushroom was still dripping with fat. Friendliness leaves a lot to be desired and was considerably better. Absolute Börner cheese fries, they were incredibly tasty. I wouldn't have to have it again.

Our burger was good. Boss and staff very nice. It's a bit difficult for me to say anything about price/performance in the catering industry at the moment. If you sit outside, a good mosquito repellent is highly recommended. I think a reservation is advisable.

Top location, plentiful and good food. Top. Service, rarely experienced like this. They are only allowed to sit there if they eat something, if they only drink something then back there and no one serves them there...outside they are only allowed to sit at the table that I give them... yes you have to be VERY tolerant here . 🤔 Too bad. But that doesn't create a feeling of well-being. How ironic that there was a saying at reception of all places: "Being nice doesn't cost anything...". What irony. 🤷 Addendum: After the "nice" answer here, it is now clear to everyone why the rating has been reduced to 1 star... More would simply be justifiable with a conscience. Being nice doesn't cost anything, that's right. I can only speak for my food, but unfortunately the vegetarian burger patty was more of a sauce, so runny. It's a shame, the look was definitely great, unfortunately the prices are also more top in the sense of "above". 😔 I definitely won't go there again.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with others who have already reported that the owners wanted to have EVERY eventuality clarified in advance on a notice. So you're sitting on a cozy summer evening in the pleasant beer garden at a table with a dozen warning signs. There is even a warning on the cutlery basket not to throw rubbish here. I seriously wonder what kind of perception the hosts have of their guests. You can't rule out every eventuality. It says on the bike rack that you should check inside to see if anything is available before locking up your bike. Can't I just unlock my bike again if nothing is free (I have to lock it in anyway when I go in)? Honestly: very unpleasant! The food was acceptable, but not brilliant either. We had a burger and a Caesar salad. Unfortunately, the salad was anything but fresh (the crunchiness is the distinguishing feature of this salad in particular), the croutons, the Parmesan and the sauce were okay. The burger patty was good, the cold burger bun and the other toppings (almost nothing apart from the cheese) weren't worth mentioning. It wasn't bad, but it really wasn't good either. Every burger joint in the city center is more sophisticated. When it comes to burgers in particular, the differences in quality from fast food to high-end are huge. Here it was rather mediocre. Overall, I come to this rating. PS to answer: maybe you should read first before you start writing. I specifically wrote "The food wasn't bad." I cannot understand why exactly the opposite is being said. It was okay, it could have been fresher and more refined. But I see no reason to complain. Furthermore: if you work in the catering industry and always expect the worst from your guests, you should consider whether you are pursuing the right business model. I say this as someone who ran a catering pub for ten years (without a sign) and who once had problems with a customer (because he looked too deeply into the glass). Otherwise never. I expected the best from my guests every day - and that's what it was. How to call into the forest...

So I have to say for someone like me who likes to eat burgers, this is exactly the right restaurant. The ambience is simply great and fits the theme of the restaurant perfectly. The menu is manageable but has a few great surprises in store, such as the Monster Burger Challenge or the Suprise Menu. I can only recommend the Suprise menu, but I don't want to give any spoilers here. The waitresses and chefs are in a really good mood and are always up for fun. If you want to fill America, you have to eat here.

The staff were very friendly and the food, especially the citizens, was very tasty and a good size. You can easily order online and the milkshakes are simply awesome.

Five of us went to JaNi's today, great ambience, stylish American diner, friendly and fast service and nice reception. Unfortunately we didn't like the food Tasted good, fries weren't crispy, burger buns were very weak, it's a shame. Prices are a bit too high for the quality. What I don't find so cheap are the many information signs, I'm sure they serve to set up rules, but they don't seem very inviting. In my opinion, dealing with constructive criticism is also part of good service and reviews on the internet these days. Unfortunately, this is not responded to in a friendly manner, so I have made another change to the original 5 stars for the service.

The diner welcomes you with an instructive tone on many signs - along with rules of etiquette on the menu. Our waitress was very nice, but unfortunately she couldn't accommodate requests for changes (swapping the sauce from Burger X to Burger Y or changing the side dish from sweet potato chips to fries). Unfortunately, my burger patty didn't taste like anything, the taste of the burger only came from the BBQ sauce. The menu also seems a bit out of date - most of the burgers simply had ketchup and mayo as sauce. The portion size of the burger + fries wasn't really convincing either (especially considering the price). The milkshakes and the cake for dessert were appropriately sized. The shakes tasted ok (too sweet for us), but not a highlight. The cheesecake was very powerful, completely different in taste than expected, but that's probably the American style. Afterwards I was at least full. We liked the atmosphere. Just as you would expect from a diner. In the entrance area the lighting was a little more comfortable and there was something to discover everywhere. Since the restaurant is located at a campsite and their guests probably want to eat here often, it is important to reserve in advance. We noticed how some guests had to be turned away because there were no more free seats. Addendum #1: The way I handled my review also leaves a lot to be desired - is this how you should handle criticism? People ask, what's wrong here, after all, I haven't even had a burger with meat? When it comes to a vegetarian burger, can't I assume that it tastes like something other than the sauce? Regarding the second question ("if everything was bad, why do you have to make a reservation?"): you don't know beforehand what it will taste like and it wasn't all bad by any stretch of the imagination. Regarding the third statement (do it yourself): at what level do we want to move here? I have now changed my rating again due to this poor handling of criticism.

We were really impressed by the great ambience. The waitresses were in a great mood, friendly, attentive and child-friendly. There is a playground and a changing table for children. Parking is right in front of it. The food was reserved very quickly and was very tasty. My tip: definitely make a reservation! The restaurant is very popular 😉

JaNi's American Diner, what a brilliant shop. We were able to reserve online without any problems (pre-reservation is definitely required). We were warmly welcomed by the team and shown to our table. There is a manageable menu with something for everyone. It was still a difficult decision for me because I wanted to try everything. If we didn't live so far away, we would definitely come by more often. Enjoy it and enjoy the flair 😀

The food was great, we had the pulled salmon burger, simply brilliant. We both also really enjoyed the dessert consisting of brownie and cheesecake. The staff was very relaxed and friendly, which I liked. There is one star deduction in terms of ambience for the Trump/Pence election poster, which doesn't work for me at all.

The lovely girls from the service were very friendly and humorous. Fast and attentive! You should definitely reserve in advance. The two of us were there on a Friday, it was busy and yet the service was relaxed. Burgers and ribs were very tasty but the cheesecake was to die for! I had never experienced the taste of cheesecake like this anywhere else. Simply bomb. We'll be back just for that!!! I think the general mentality towards guests on the website and in the restaurant is very good! Rules are there to be followed and you no longer have to put up with everything as a restaurateur. That's why it was completely okay for me to pack my own food and also pay something for the high-quality packaging. (It also says this on the menu) Thanks to the service, kitchen and the operators. You will see us again as guests! 😀 good job!

What we liked best was the ambience. Unfortunately it couldn't be endured for long because it was very, very warm. In addition, the very closely spaced tables made it impossible to stay there for any length of time, as there was a lot of noise from neighbors and it was difficult to understand your own words. The taste of the food was okay, but the fries could perhaps have stayed in the deep fryer longer.

A diner with typical American food and design. Quietly located near a campsite. We didn't dare try the giant burger (2.8kg), which is free if you manage it alone, but the cheesecake and lemonade were very tasty. The cheesecake is very creamy!

The ambience is definitely good and the service is also quick and friendly. Unfortunately the food is not convincing. The onion rings are deliciously presented in the mini smoker, but unfortunately they don't taste like much. The ribs are tough and difficult to fall off the bone and the tiny portion of coleslaw salad begs the question as to why it's even mentioned. Price and performance don't really fit together.

The diner has a great atmosphere, great decor and a beautiful location. BUT: The reservation is limited in time, we didn't stick to the 1.5 hour time limit: due to a lot of activity and an incorrect order (something was forgotten) it took longer until we could eat and were then basically thrown out after 1.5 hours. We had to pay extra for the takeaway containers. When we mentioned when paying that we hadn't managed to finish, we were told in the most unfriendly manner that they weren't a fast food restaurant like McDonalds. Okay, the food on offer is similar (it wasn't particularly tasty, nor was it varied, and it was disproportionately expensive, but that's also subjective). I expect that I can at least finish my food for that price. And if you only come in with a reservation, then the preparation should take less than 30 minutes. In addition, for me it has nothing to do with good service if you can only leave something out of the burger but can't add anything to it or re-order it (like a different sauce). Guests are expected to be friendly in several places, but they do not receive it in return. Not child friendly. Just too bad.

We were already positively impressed by the diner when it was still on Merseburger Straße. The new location offers a little more space and quiet seating options by the Auensee. Super nicely decorated, all the employees are really nice and the food not only comes quickly, but is also really tasty. The milkshakes look like in the typical American films. We always enjoy coming here. Edit: Unfortunately, the children's corner, which was always an absolute criterion for us to come here, has now been removed. It's a real shame because restaurants generally don't offer much for children and we were happy about the options in the diner.

This is a restaurant that I imagine is just perfect. The boss and boss are super cool and the employees are always friendly, nice and cool. I also recommended this restaurant to my brother who was immediately enthusiastic. He lives in Saarland and the next time my brother visits here in Leipzig it is a visit that is already planned. I'm really looking forward to visiting this restaurant again. One more thing to the entire team, keep it up.

I had dinner there with my family yesterday and I have to say we were impressed by the atmosphere. Very cool decor! The food was a dream. Fresh, delicious and special. Everything is still made here in-house. Even the burger buns are baked daily by the bakery and almost everything is gluten free!!! The absolute hammer is the popcorn milkshake that you absolutely have to try. (Order it with crispy bacon, it couldn't be better) Thanks for the tip. We are already looking forward to the next time.

Very chic cozy shop. If you like American food, this is the place for you. It's really great to see how the entire staff enjoys working there. Get this, it's really rare these days. That being said, see you soon. Good taste!!!

A top address. We were there with 30 people on Sunday lunchtime. More than we ordered. Everything worked out great. Great service, always on the ball. Nice, friendly and everyone really enjoyed the food. If the opportunity arises, we would be happy to come again again.

Sit in the green and enjoy a very tasty and sumptuous breakfast? No problem at all in JaNi's American Diner. A beautiful outdoor terrace invites you to eat in the fresh air. The service is friendly, attentive and maintains a professional attitude even under stress. The diner itself is decorated in a beautiful nostalgic style and invites you to discover it. But the most important thing in a diner is of course the food. The breakfast selection is amazing and there is something for everyone. From the classic roll to bacon and beans to poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, no delicacy wish remains unfulfilled. The food is freshly prepared and the drinks also offer everything you could wish for, from homemade lemonade and iced tea to milkshakes and beer. Having breakfast here today with the family felt like picking flowers and I can only warmly recommend this diner to anyone who even remotely likes this type of food. In any case, we are really looking forward to the next visit.

The hamburgers are good, even if the meat was too cold and the bun was too soft for me. But there were no spare rips. Too much cartilage, too little flavor. The beer was bad, no head and at €4.40 1/2 liter I always express my opinion. The response was, as described in many of the feedbacks here, unfriendly. I'm currently sitting in front of my motorhome at the Knauss campsite and I'll do anything to stop by.

We have celiac disease and have to eat a strict gluten-free diet. The owner and the staff offer almost all dishes gluten-free and are very knowledgeable. We made reservations in advance and the restaurant is busy. The atmosphere is very cozy, typically American and the food is fresh. BBQ sauce is made in-house and the dishes are consistently delicious! Clear recommendation, we will definitely come back!

We are absolute America fans and we have never eaten as well in America as we do here. Absolute recommendation from and. Everything is homemade from the onion rings to the BBQ sauce. A real pleasure! USA in Leipzig and maybe even a little better.

Very specially furnished diner, there is always something to discover somewhere, even if you have been there several times. The food is typical diner, tasty, but not particularly varied (if you go there for days in a row 😅). The team is super nice, all the waitresses are quick and super accommodating, even when the house is full. And you can order food to be picked up and then eat in the camper/tent etc. The fact that the food doesn't quite suit my personal taste is my thing. All in all, the diner is an absolute recommendation!

There are many good burger restaurants in Leipzig, but no other offers such a great location. Aside from burgers, there is also a selection of other delicious dishes. The staff is very friendly and the prices are reasonable for the large portions.

We had fish and chips, burgers and chili con carne. Everything was delicious and the perfect end to a day at the Leipzig Book Fair :)

Food and service 3 stars in a "museum". Service staff should behave more discreetly when they are talking internally about guests but everyone can still hear it. Has a bad aftertaste. In addition, the last points on the last page of the menu are rather questionable (e.g. that you should pack the food yourself that you didn't manage to eat). There is an extra star for the TRUMP election poster from 2016. MAGA!

Went there today to celebrate a birthday. Reserved online. Forgot that I only reserved a table for two hours. Can happen. But then: no friendly "We're sorry, but you know that you only have a reservation until 8 p.m.? It's no problem, you're welcome to stay, we still have other tables available" NO! Instead: We need the table now! You only booked for two hours! That's just how it is these days!" Yes, that's how it is these days... It really surprises me these days that something like that comes from the owner, I guess? (She didn't do anything other than let us in and behaved accordingly). New review of the new location. Went there on a Friday evening and had reserved a table in advance, which is highly recommended. The ambience is really very successful, you can see the attention to detail. The service is extremely friendly and despite the fact that it was relatively full, it was quick so you didn't have to wait long. The food was, as at the old location, world class. You can tell that the kitchen team is fully behind the menu and goes to work with a lot of love. In today's economic situation, I think price-performance is completely acceptable. We were 3 people each with 1 drink, 1 main course, 1 dessert and an extra starter salad and paid almost 120 euros without a tip. I think that's appropriate considering the costs that have to be covered. All in all, definitely worth a visit. Went there on Saturday evening but had booked a table beforehand as this is highly recommended. The service is super friendly and the food is delicious. Value for money is very good, you get very good quality for your money. The atmosphere is very cozy. We will be back definitely.

Simply brilliant, even though we hadn't made a reservation (be sure to do it!), we were assigned a table and the first-class service immediately started - the dog was given a water bowl, a pillow and the owner was given the menu for the four-legged friend. Super nice staff, burgers to eat, the homemade lemonade made the taste buds applaud. The milk shake was the cherry on the cake. In short: two thumbs up. Big praise to the entire team - we will definitely be back.

After a long walk in the floodplain forest and noticeably hungry, we stopped at Jani's Diner. Unfortunately, we just sat down at a free table. After a few minutes and a very friendly service person (blond, long hair) we were informed that that's not how it works in this restaurant. Firstly, you should always pre-order and secondly, you will be seated there. We probably overlooked it or simply didn't know it. After the second waitress (dark, medium-length hair) complained quite loudly about how we could just sit down at a free table, we actually lost the desire to stay. The friendly blonde woman then informed us that we either had to be ready in 30 minutes - because the table was reserved after that - or alternatively we could take the food with us. We decided against both offers and left. According to the previous reviews, the food seems to be brilliant. But we didn't feel like it anymore. A “King Royal” kebab did the trick 😜

Designed with great attention to detail. Great outdoor seating and terrace. Very attentive waitresses. Good offer. Unfortunately we didn't feel well after eating and the toilet said hello.
