Jäger & Lustig in Berlin

A bit pricey, but great brewery atmosphere.

Always a pleasure. Very tasty meat dishes (roulade and wild boar cheeks), good mashed potatoes, and the sauces are exceptionally well-cooked. The service is always very attentive and friendly, which is not always the case.

The place is interesting, especially for tourists, but the food is good, and they have some unusual products (game/venison, etc.). We had a very good time.

The Food and beer was excellent. Everyone was happy with that. Now starts the negative review… Generally the service was fine except one lady who identified herself as the manager was particularly rude to me. We arrived with more people than we reserved for. Nothing was said to us about that. But when the food eventually arrived at our table we were told we cannot sit here and we were not offered any alternative seating. When I asked what should we do about this and where should we sit I was told to get out my seat or leave the restaurant. I understand as a group we showed up with more people than planned. But it is the job of the front of house staff to manage who is coming in and where they are sitting, not the guests. In general the other servers were good and friendly but I did I find myself walking around and searching for them to order drinks and to pay my bill as opposed to being served. That is why I give the service one star. Despite this I would come back to enjoy the food, drink and nice atmosphere again. I guess this is the infamous Berlin service that I have heard about.

We had the most excellent dinner here on 16/09/2025. It was our friend’s final night in Berlin. The food was hearty, delicious, with generous servings. The bar was well stocked with good options. Yvonne was the staff member looking after us and she was very kind, knowledgeable and wonderful. She really made our night there exceptional. What a brilliant way to celebrate our time in Berlin. This place is highly recommended!

Despite its size, the food is good (German cuisine at an upscale level, but not overly sophisticated), the service is good, and the atmosphere is pleasant (sometimes a bit loud) with good beers and wines... no wonder the place is often packed. Reservations are therefore advisable.

The food was really good, and the waiters were very friendly. However, the man at the reception desk was a negative. He was rude and yelled at our 3-year-old children, which was completely inappropriate. I also don't think it's right that they charge a €1 packaging fee for a takeaway box.

I only had one beer, but it was in a very pleasant and quiet environment for Berlin. There's both a restaurant area with table service and a self-service beer garden area. Very friendly staff. I'll definitely be visiting more often.

Perfect Dinner. We just walked by and asked for a table. At 19:30 all was reserved but the reception guy offered to have a look if we wait 5 kin in the self service " Biergarten". I need to say it was good to wait. After we were seated we enjoyed a great service by Tika (great job!). The food offering was great and the beer as well. Thanks a lot! We will come again!

Great ambiance on the terrace, friendly service, and, above all, outstanding food. I had the best roulade I've ever eaten in a restaurant here. My four companions (from Italy visiting Berlin) were all thrilled, including one vegan. In the end, everyone was full from the generous portions, and the bill was relatively modest.

The dinner was not bad, but it was way overpriced. I had a schnitzel for €30 if I had known I wouldn’t have come to this restaurant what’s the worst part out of all of that is the waiter asking for tips and when I gave him €3.5 which I’m not supposed to even give him, he was disappointed and then he came over to ask us to leave and he literally use the words “Get up get up” and leave in German so I guess they have to teach their stuff a bit manners

A truly wonderful place! Even when we reserved a table over the phone, a very friendly and approachable lady answered the phone. The restaurant enchants with its rustic, modern charm. Despite their search for staff, we didn't feel like the waiters were overwhelmed. There was a funny saying to accompany every drink and course. We didn't have to wait long for our food, which can of course be different on weekends. But we all need a little time when we're going to treat ourselves. The food is great. There's something for everyone, whether you're very hungry or not. There's also a beer garden, but we only saw the inside. It seemed quite large and looked very cozy. We'd love to come back, especially with visitors from out of town ;-)

Fifty years ago, we had our wedding dinner here, then still called the "Jägerklause." A lot has changed... Today, 50 years later, we were in the beer garden. We had a wonderful meal and would like to sincerely thank our waiter, Joachim. He was very empathetic, friendly, and helpful! Thank you for a few wonderful, nostalgic hours!

We primarily use this place in the summer with friends to sit outside and chat. The service and staff are consistently friendly. Other than that it always looks delicious, we can't comment on the food's taste, as we only use the beer garden. We always enjoy coming here.

A lovely restaurant with a hunter's look, friendly staff, and German-inspired dishes. Don't expect what you're used to. For example, they serve braised cucumbers, prepared rather crunchy with the skin, with a sour note and sweetener in the recipe. It's possible, but traditionalists will be put off. Jäger&Lustig is a beer garden with a great atmosphere. In summer, you can sit here under the trees and enjoy balmy summer evenings. The food is typical of a pub. The portion sizes are a bit smaller, but the prices are typical for Berlin. The food comes quickly and could be prepared with more care. Drinks can be ordered either from the waiter or directly at the bar outside. However, at the latter, you can sometimes order drinks that the waiters don't bring, and they'll even rudely point them out. Jäger & Lustig remains a solid option nonetheless.

Initially, the service was very attentive, but then unfortunately faltered somewhat. The generous appetizers and salads left you wanting more. The main courses were rather simple, with dumplings and meat rather dry, but luckily they came with sauce. The prices were on the higher end due to the quantity. The drinks menu, especially the non-alcoholic menu, offers few highlights. Overall, unfortunately, there are few reasons for a return visit.

Always happy to come back. Delicious and a great atmosphere, what more could I want?
